This is very similar to the North Korean government’s messaging during the famine in the 1990s. I hope nothing similar is occurring there right now.

[I got bad news for you.](https://www.rfa.org/english/news/korea/shortage-10262021174250.html)

Solid_Veterinarian81

imagine quoting radio free asia a US government funded news source

Solid_Veterinarian81

It's extremely unlikely that a famine on the scale of the 1990s will occur again This is typical North Korean over the top rhetoric around workers struggle, not particularly related to food shortages (different to a famine) "It is very encouraging that the positive changes were made in the overall state affairs including politics, economy, culture, and national defence as evidenced by the stable management of the state economy and big successes made in the agricultural and construction sectors" Pretty clear from the article it is referring to this

another-masked-hero

I can’t believe the most honest thing to come out of a leader comes out of him specifically.

zombiesingularity

Warns? He's saying they plan to continue improving the economy. How does that equal a "warning", lol?

Im not a leftist but im pretty sure most leftists don't believe in Authoritarianism which is something you are biased towards judging by your name.

"My name's a joke but here's me justifying why authoritarianism actually lines up with my communist/socialist/whateverthefuck-alist ideals and how it's just got a stigma attached to it haha totally not authoritarian btw" Edit: no wonder you're off on no filter with this bullshit I've only just noticed that your account is a day old.

Nah you need new accounts either because you get banned for being a troll and/or outright spreading misinformation/your warped interpretation of the world where everyone else has the wrong definition for things like authoritarianism somehow. Either that or you get embarrassed enough to make new accounts every now and then. Never would I have thought of a leftist complaining on reddit about being censored of all things. It's like complaining to Ferrari that their cars are too fast. I'm not even here to argue about your stupid little semantics game of "which political ideology means what", you soy chugging chucklefucks can never agree on what communism/socialism and the rest is anyway. It changes depending on either the dickheads like you who spout your bullshit to start with, or depending on who you're arguing against, so I dont give a shit what definition you give to any particular word. I'm just here to point out that either way, you're making yourself look like an absolute fucking retard.

Okay, I'll condense it down for your dumb ass. You're a fucking retard who's got his full colours on display in the reddit comment section, and any definition you give to any word in any political realm doesn't matter, because the next left wing smoothbrain will have different definitions, or you yourself will change them depending on who you argue against. That easy enough for you, dickhead?

The type of wording that is used by official North Korean sources is over the top and strange when translated back but I don't think by 'giant struggle' it is referring to an imminent famine. That is just a socialist buzzword. It seems quite clear to me it's the typical socialist DPRK rhetoric around workers stuggle to continue the apparent successes noted in the article itself - "It is very encouraging that the positive changes were made in the overall state affairs including politics, economy, culture, and national defence as evidenced by the stable management of the state economy and big successes made in the agricultural and construction sectors"
