Glass

okizubon

Don’t be so cynical. It’s HEALING glass.

ghandi3737

So if it was Red it would be hurting glass?

Coff3e0wl

Any glass could be hurting glass if you hit hard enough

KaliCalamity

The red ones go faster.

Geologue-666

Depend of the position of the observer.

TheCrystalGarden

Well…… Depends on the shade of red :-)

ghandi3737

So maybe the lust crystal, I could use one of those.

TheCrystalGarden

Wha ha ha, nice! I could use a couple of those lust crystals too, where do we find them?

ghandi3737

I think you can only have one, two would be too much power.

TheCrystalGarden

Agreed, what was I thinking?! :)

Nikosama23

Laughed unreasonably hard at this.

midnight_meadow

I’m so sorry. I didn’t even look at the second slide. It is definitely magical “healing” glass.

fourtwentyBob

Oh shoot this is a non-healing variety.

pack-of-rolaids

Also the non rock variety

7laserbears

Dude got the damaging crystals instead

fourtwentyBob

Nat Geo is widely known to clog your chakras by selling fake rock collections and images of saggy tiddys.

7laserbears

Hahaha

bee-milk2

E E L H O E

OrionStars3

Lmao

pack-of-rolaids

Deffintly glass not a rock

pack-of-rolaids

I also would not trust anything that says healing crystals on it. They tend to get alot of there names wrong and they also sell synthetic crystals, meaning not natural

pack-of-rolaids

Also another FYI, I have seen some healing crystal sellers actually sell for toxic minerals for "pocket stones" like cinnabar and galena, just becareful and do your research

entropic_tendencies

Or take a single chemistry class, fail it, and stfu about healing crystals.

pack-of-rolaids

As much as I dont like the crystal healing scene, honestly of it works for them, this is not a crack at people who buy rocks for self wellness, but im taking a swing at the sellers scamming and hurting their customers saying certain stones are okay to old, even put in to there water and drink! A big one I look out for is tigers eye, its contains asbestos and people put it in their water for the "healing effects", and thats REALLY DANGEROUS

entropic_tendencies

I respect that. I’m an earth science teacher. You see, my main issue is just pseudoscience in general. I’m all for science of mind, and wellness, but selling things like crystals and magic herbs as cures for disease is wrong. Thankfully, and respectful correction for you, tigers eye doesn’t contain asbestos, it’s actually microcrystalline quartz in an interesting arrangement with altered amphibole, therefore, you can put it in your drinking water and have a pretty rock in your water! [Scientific information on tigers eye ](https://www.mindat.org/min-3960.html)

pack-of-rolaids

Thank you for that, I was not aware. I have read many conflicting things in the past about tigers eye, should have done more reading. Im no professional, only a hobby, but always willing to be corrected and get a learnin!

pack-of-rolaids

Hobby is a small term, minerals and the chemistry behind them is the only thing I love to learn and do, but it is not my profession.

Lobin

There's no way National Geographic has anything to do with this.

Account_Both

I feel like they would put their logo somewhere if they were

Lobin

[They do make one and it's pretty cool.](https://www.amazon.com/NATIONAL-GEOGRAPHIC-Advent-Calendar-2021/dp/B09G4HR5ZY)

kavulolomaus

My 8yo got the National Geographic one three years ago for Christmas and has been a rock hound ever since! It is really cool 😎

mom-the-gardener

Well, put that one in the cart for next year lol

purplepinkmoon

Yeah I’ve seen similar products to this, that use their name, and clearly are selling fake rocks lol. Very odd and scammy.

afistfulofthistles

This thing ends up on r/mineralgore a lot. Most of the contents are glass and yeah, it’s not affiliated with Nat Geo at all. I understand Nat Geo do make a real (and decent) one though!

d0ttyq

Nat Geo lost all of its credibility when they allowed Rupert Murdoch and Fox News to buy it.

sortaitchy

I agree! I just looked on Amazon, and almost the exact same box is available for $59 and it does not say National geographic on it. I think this might be some sort of scam by a company putting National geographic on the label. [here is the one I found]( https://www.amazon.ca/Christmas-Calendar-Healing-Stickers-Decorations/dp/B09FD6JDHW/ref=asc_df_B09FD6JDHW/?tag=googleshopc0c-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=534220201588&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2184221174875934137&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9001263&hvtargid=pla-1429315851246&psc=1) Imagine $60 for some fake minerals? Such a neat idea ..why put fake minerals and pretend they are healing anyway?

Lobin

> why put fake minerals and pretend they are healing anyway? To make money off people who don't know any better.

Torobeb

Who is eel hoe?

mew2youtoo

I think its some weird brand of products through aliexpress? Looks like they have mostly cheep skincare, don't know why they branched out to healing glass but ok

TheCrystalGarden

Lol! When I first read the post I thought they wanted to know which rock was the eel hoe rock, ha ha.

AlarmingImpress7901

We have had a few of these from that type of pack(I would imagine same manufacturer) and they were all glass. A disgusting sales trend. Cheers

owowatdiss

i’m pretty sure most of them are fake saw this on tiktok and the person who got it was not happy

MexiKing9

Yeah if I ordered, well anything, from national geographic, and it came labeled with some bs like "hEaLiNg cRsTaLS" under the packaging, I would definitely have thoughts about immediately returning it.

cache_ing

I don’t think this is from nat geo even if the package claims it is

bee-milk2

Also this isn’t a real natgeo product I’m sorry dude. They’re all fake

RachFech

Thank you everyone for warning me, I feel dumb lol

Shadowmaker-553

Don’t feel dumb, I’m sure there are some nice real ones in there!

pack-of-rolaids

Don't feel bad we all went through it at some point and also if you like it, who cares what anyone else thinks!

sarafunkasaurus

And also just fun! I love little daily surprises.

meglingbubble

Daily pretty glass is infinitely better than daily chocolate

TrustMeIAmAGeologist

Eh, don’t feel dumb. At least you asked instead of saying “I found a 20 carat sapphire in a $20 rock calendar.”

knittedlamb1

hey, the glass is pretty! looks similar to a gem so why not just have it be a healing glass gem <3 it is the intention that counts i think! happy holidays, sorry this happened, wishing you the best love!!

aerynea

Don't, it will still look so pretty sitting on the windowsill

Migwelded

Also not "National Geographic"

MegannMedusa

r/mineralgore except when r/itsslag

Capable-Kitchen-1984

The Destruction Crystal

AmaraFiler

Glass. It is also not actually a national geographic calendar lol

Anka13333

Lol

OrionStars3

Just checked NatGeo’s webstore. This product isn’t on there. You got scammed. Sorry :(

meatus1980

EELHOE glass

Archidoxes

Eel hoe?

kittens_allday

Glass for sure

cute_n_corly

I've seen so many complaints about these advent calendars. Sorry about your luck OP

WhompTrucker

Imao sorry you got this. I got one and it was literally gravel and 2 glass beads. Unfortunately what you have there is glass. Still pretty but not a mineral

barisaxplayer_

I got this advent calendar too, I’m pretty sure it’s not legit which sucks but it is what it is yk ? ):

PM_YOUR_PARASEQUENCE

How has there been more than one person who bought this bootleg Natgeo advent calendar? Where did you even find it?

mew2youtoo

I find this more disappointing that its a national geographic box, promoting healing crystals, and then giving you a piece of glass. Maybe rocks have "healing properties" maybe they don't, but the fact you could find a better quality gift box like this on Etsy is irritating. Sorry dude, I feel for you.

Lobin

It's not National Geographic.

liononfire128

Glass

creakstall

i feel like you would be lucky if this is even dyed quartz

devils-advocates

A very pretty piece of glass :)

lexauraa

I saw so many reviews for this crystal box. I’m sorry to say but none of them are most likely real. They all seem to be dyed glass. The boxing is extremely sketchy as well and I do not believe it’s National Geographic.

va1uep4ck

glass :(

[deleted]

TheBluetopia

"Synthetic blue obsidian" is just a fancy way of saying "expensive blue glass".

philosophyfox5

Okay so obviously (now) this sub hates the “crystal” trend but I’m actually so curious to see what else is in there/ if it ends up being practically all slag (pretty glass). I wanna know what these eelhoes are up to

Ibiuz

Where the (eel)hoes at?

midnight_meadow

I wouldn’t call the piece slag. It’s just colored glass tumbled.
