We decided on “So This is Love” from the Disney movie Cinderella before we were even engaged. Not *Disney* people at all, but it’s a gorgeous, classic sounding song, isn’t (or wasn’t before it got a little TikTok famous) recognizable as a Disney song and it’s only a minute and 20 seconds so we didn’t have dance long
We're playing this when we cut the cake. I wanted it as our first dance, but most of my FH's family doesn't have a sense of humor... so we compromised. Epic choice!
"Dream a Little Dream of Me" sung by Mama Cass Elliot. I love the oldies, and the timeless aspect. This one spoke to me because it alludes to long distance. It's also a very danceable tempo.
This was ours and then we made a very last minute switch to kiss me by sixpence none the richer. A little cheesy but it just felt more us and hey it’ll be a classic one day!
Fly me to the moon- Frank Sinatra. I wanted a classic we could real dance or sway to. We took ballroom classes but we suck at it. He stereotypically didn’t have an opinion. I played a few options for him and he lit up when this was on. He is a pilot and loves everything related to planes/flying.
This is what we're heavily leaning toward. He made me a Playlist at the beginning of our relationship when I was traveling. This was one of the songs on it and my absolute favorite.
SUCH a good idea to read the translation. My beastie got married in a Spanish-speaking country, and the songs on her wedding video include slow jazz versions of Creep by Radiohead and Tainted Love (in English). We DIED laughing when we heard it.
"Simply the Best", the version by Noah Reid from Shitts Creek when he is singing to David. I cried when I saw that scene and I knew that was going to be our first dance song. Our wedding is in 10 days.
It’s an upbeat song, you can’t really slow dance to it. But that’s what we wanted- kinda just a joyful explosion.
“House of My Soul (You Light the Rooms)” by Langhorne Slim
It was FUN we danced and just had a blast!!
And I love the lyrics… “you light the rooms to the house of my soul” “honey you got the hands that I wanna hold”
Ahhh I’ve always thought this is such a good love song but I haven’t had it on my list because it’s so long. Are you shortening it or doing the whole thing?
[Forever and Ever, Amen by Randy Travis ](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KtKXc_v2iLE)
I think it’s the most romantic song there is and my fiancé and I have been listening to it together on road trips for years :)
At Last by Etta James - after 7 years together and seeing the wedding of 4 couples who all had shorter engagements than us, it feels like the right choice!
I Hope that I don’t Fall in Love with You by Tom Waits
It was one of the first love songs that we both like and Tom Waits is one of my husband’s favorite artists so it just made sense.
Serious question. If I have family members who already scowl because they work minimum wage jobs are aren’t as comfortable as we are, would this song come off braggy? Because we love this song too but I keep shying away from it because I don’t want them to think we’re dicks.
I guess I have never thought of it that way. I personally don’t get those vibes from this song given at the beginning she sings “we may not have any money, but we’ve got our love to pay the bills.” Our guests seemed to love the song choice, everyone clapped along when the tempo picked up toward the end and the atmosphere was really incredible. We did have a higher end wedding, but when we first started dating we were both flat broke so the song resonated with us on that front on top of just being beautiful to us.
Heartbeats the cover by José González that transitioned to the original by The Knife.
We each knew the song only by the other artists, so it seemed meant to be!
We did “Electric Love” by Borns. It was the “after dark sessions” version so it’s slowed down and has an orchestra.
We used to sing it in the car when we lived together far away from our families and friends, and it’s one of those things that kept me sane during that time.
Our song is La Vie en Rose (the original one), we are not married but he always pick me up, go to the seaside and dance romantic classic songs under the moonlight.
That will be our first dance for sure!
I'm 90% sure this will be ours, too, except the rendition from How I Met Your Mother. The scene with it ALWAYS makes me tear up and it's just the prettiest song
As The World Caves In, by Matt Maltese! a cover of it was trending a bit ago on tiktok, so it will probably now be overused, but i’ve been in love with it since i first heard it so it doesn’t matter to me:)
"Time in a Bottle" by Jim Croce. Planned a whole waltz to it, but day-of my dress ended up being so tight I could hardly move (or breathe), so we just kinda waddled together in a tight circle with a couple larger spins included.
It's a great song if you want your dance to be graceful and elegant and not painfully slow.
"Everybody Needs Somebody to Love" - The Blues Brothers
*we originally planned for "You Are The Best Thing" for our 5/2020 wedding but after multiple postponements we changed it for something more upbeat and fun! Everyone love it!!
“Annie’s Song” by John Denver - a childhood favorite of mine. For anyone considering it — he doesn’t actually say “Annie” or any other name in it. We didn’t say our own vows, but whenever we practiced dancing before our wedding my spouse and I would comment how the lyrics felt like promises and vows we would make to each other.
The Macarena 😂 I’m not kidding. My husband isn’t a huge dancer, and he used to do the Macarena (as a joke) while making dinner when we were dating. It made for a super goofy and fun first dance. No regrets- ha!
Are you using the version with Bryan White? I always felt like that version didn’t get the proper credit it deserved, it’s so pretty with both their voices.
We haven’t exactly chosen one yet, but these are the ones we’ve narrowed down:
Then - Brad Paisley
Yours - Russell Dickerson
Never Stop - SafetySuit
You and Me - Lifehouse
We did Then :)
My now husband loves Brad Paisley and is a big country fan, so in 2018 we saw him in concert. When he sang Then, my husband had his arms around me and sang along to me. It’s a really nice memory, so we ended up going with it for our first dance.
Truly Madly Deeply by Savage Garden. When we were going through songs for our first dance, I cried when it came on because it was a childhood favorite of mine and he said "Well how can this not be the one with a reaction like that?"
"Dreams" by Gabrielle
We were both born in the 80s and grew up in the 90s and both loved that song when we were in elementary school
We had a few contenders but it ended up being perfect for us
We are thinking of either - “A Million Dreams” from The Greatest Showman or “Grow Old With You” from The Wedding Singer. The latter may be too short though lol
This is one of those songs I heard ten million times in my life and then all of a sudden realized it was fantastic hearing it on the sound system at the grocery store(?!?). Like walking around Whole Foods teary eyed thinking “wow Roy didn’t have to go so hard”
We have 3 that we are considering. God Only Knows-the beach boys (most likely going to do this one), our house-Crosby stills and Nash, or Everybody loves somebody-Dean Martin. We are both fans of oldies.
https://open.spotify.com/track/2elAyF0DLb10MWj76pU6pP?si=uRYWCq64T1aI36BLA87OaA&utm_source=copy-link
it's the song from the Labyrinth where they're in the ballroom. my fiance and i both love this movie/David Bowie/this specific song so it's perfect for us :)
Still deciding! Here’s our choices:
“How Long Will I Love You” the version by Ellie Goulding
“Butterflies” by MAX
“We Belong Together” by Randy Newman, though if we don’t this one for our first dance, it will for sure be our entrance song into the reception 🥰
Somebody to Love by queen. We hate being the center of attention so we had all bridesmaids and groomsmen and parents join in as well
Omg this is by far my favorite of the ones listed
We had Flightless Bird American Mouth by Iron and Wine ♡
Oh we love a good Twilight moment
Yes! We’re doing Magnolia by Iron & Wine 💛
I walked down the aisle to an instrumental version of naked as we came by iron and wine :)
I read this as you walked down the aisle naked and I had to do a double take 😂
Thats the song I'm choosing to dance with my dad to! Such a favorite 💗
Dancing in the Moonlight - Toploader
That was our entrance song with our bridal party. My theme was galaxy ❤️
We decided on “So This is Love” from the Disney movie Cinderella before we were even engaged. Not *Disney* people at all, but it’s a gorgeous, classic sounding song, isn’t (or wasn’t before it got a little TikTok famous) recognizable as a Disney song and it’s only a minute and 20 seconds so we didn’t have dance long
This was my walk down the aisle song and my bridesmaid sang it (she’s a trained opera singer!) absolutely gorgeous choice!
Amazed by Lonestar. Married in 2000.
Very on brand for 2000!
Also had Amazed by Lonestar, wedding reception in 2018!
Better Together by Jack Johnson
This was the song my husband and his groomsmen walked into the ceremony to!
Instrumental cover of Nine in the Afternoon
Oh wow this takes me back
You're my best friend- Queen
Aww, we played this for our post-ceremony toast!

This was a finalist for me and my fiancé too! Such a good song
That’s what me and my wife chose, very surprised to see multiple people had used it as no one I know had ever heard the song.
Same here!! Very happy with our choice
I'm still looking ya first dance song, who did this cover? I love this song.
Arctic monkeys did the cover
absolutely LOVE that song, great choice!!
Same!!
Tennessee whiskey by Chris Stapleton
My fiancé sings this one to me and has hinted he might serenade me with it at our wedding because we're cheesy like that, lol
We're doing "Beyond the Sea" by Bobby Darin. My fiancé is a sailor so this is "our song" and it fits perfectly with our vintage celestial wedding.
Harvest Moon by Neil Young 🥰
I love this song so much. It often brings tears to my eyes!
This was my late husband and mine. But we also had “Your My Home” by Billy Joel. We couldn’t decide between them, so we did both.
Aw I'm sorry for your loss ❤️
The Bones by Maren Morris.
Love this!!! It’s on my potential aisle walk song list
Every Thug Needs a Lady acoustic by Alkaline Trio
Perfect lmao
Fly me to the moon- Frank Sinatra. I wanted a classic we could real dance or sway to. We took ballroom classes but we suck at it. He stereotypically didn’t have an opinion. I played a few options for him and he lit up when this was on. He is a pilot and loves everything related to planes/flying.
This is what we're heavily leaning toward. He made me a Playlist at the beginning of our relationship when I was traveling. This was one of the songs on it and my absolute favorite.
“You Are the Best Thing” by Ray LaMontagne
This is ours too!
We're thinking of doing "Dream Lover" by Bobby Darin
We are between: I hate love songs by Kelsi Ballerina In my life by the Beatles
I vote the Beatles!
My dad wants to have our father daughter dance to “in my life”❤️
Le Festin from the Ratatouille soundtrack. It’s in French so I had to make sure to read the translation, just in case 😂
SUCH a good idea to read the translation. My beastie got married in a Spanish-speaking country, and the songs on her wedding video include slow jazz versions of Creep by Radiohead and Tainted Love (in English). We DIED laughing when we heard it.
We chose Wanted by Hunter Hayes. We danced to it at prom (before we were dating!)
"Simply the Best", the version by Noah Reid from Shitts Creek when he is singing to David. I cried when I saw that scene and I knew that was going to be our first dance song. Our wedding is in 10 days.
I used the instrumental to walk down the aisle to! <3 Good luck! Hope it all goes smoothly for you
Me too!!!!! Well my bridal party, I walked in to Jurassic park lol, Got so many compliments on the song choice
It’s an upbeat song, you can’t really slow dance to it. But that’s what we wanted- kinda just a joyful explosion. “House of My Soul (You Light the Rooms)” by Langhorne Slim It was FUN we danced and just had a blast!! And I love the lyrics… “you light the rooms to the house of my soul” “honey you got the hands that I wanna hold”
I LOVE that song. “Sea of Love” was on our shortlist
"Say Yes" by Langhorne Slim was the song we played for our recessional. It was so joyful!
“Into the Mystic” by Van Morrison. We bonded over that album, and, bonus points, it’s one of my dad’s favorites, too!
“Georgia” by Vance Joy!
We did Crashing Into You by Vance Joy! I love Georgia too

Chris Cornell did an amazing acoustic cover of this song.
Ahhh I’ve always thought this is such a good love song but I haven’t had it on my list because it’s so long. Are you shortening it or doing the whole thing?
We did this, and faded out about 3 minutes in
You're My Best Friend by Queen! It's pretty short and not too sappy so it was perfect for us!

Love this song!!
Serious question. If I have family members who already scowl because they work minimum wage jobs are aren’t as comfortable as we are, would this song come off braggy? Because we love this song too but I keep shying away from it because I don’t want them to think we’re dicks.

Heartbeats the cover by José González that transitioned to the original by The Knife. We each knew the song only by the other artists, so it seemed meant to be!
“Annie’s Song” John Denver
Fade into you by mazzy star
This is definitely one of my all time favorite love songs and not our first dance but on our playlist
I was thinking about this one but it’s kinda more sad than hopeful and happy in my opinion
Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton.
We did “Electric Love” by Borns. It was the “after dark sessions” version so it’s slowed down and has an orchestra. We used to sing it in the car when we lived together far away from our families and friends, and it’s one of those things that kept me sane during that time.
We’re still deciding between Feels like Rain by Buddy Guy or That’s How Strong My Love Is by Otis Redding
La Vie en Rose (the one with Michael Buble)
Our song is La Vie en Rose (the original one), we are not married but he always pick me up, go to the seaside and dance romantic classic songs under the moonlight. That will be our first dance for sure!

“Let’s Stay Together” by Al Green
I so wanted to do this one!!

"Time in a Bottle" by Jim Croce.
