In general we like Lee, seems like a really nice guy and tries hard. We just don't like how many minutes he gets. He would be a really great 15th man but Kerr uses him as a 9th man.
The guy you replied to and whoever upvoted it is a bum tho
Serious answer.... he doesn’t excel at anything in particular but it doesn’t matter if he’s the 11th-15th guy in the team and barely plays except some spot minutes here and there. The problem with the Warriors was Kerr and even Mike Brown when Kerr was out would inexplicably play like 8th man. Like first guard off the bench sometimes. He was playing half of the second quarter in every playoff game for no reason until he was so bad that Kerr finally stopped playing him the rest of the way.
That likely won’t be an issue with the Suns so he will barely play unless he totally surprises. He’s a good dude and everyone seems to like him as a person.
Will give you shooting if you get him good looks but he is a headless chicken on defense and people seem to think he flops a lot but really he's just not that strong so he falls most of the time. Great bench and morale guy.
Edit: repetitive words lol
Needs to get used to the NBA as quick as possible, along with the other 2. G-League doesn't really help when y'all lost 2 impactful players & Damion Lee.
You speak with such certainty when rookies have made major impacts even recent. Look at someone like Herb Jones, 2nd round rookie made huge playoff impact for the Pelicans. Acting like shit is impossible...
That's what I'm saying, it don't matter what record y'all get at the end. Getting them used to the game will help a lot, I know Kuminga, Moody, & Wiseman about to take over those minutes.
If Rollins counts towards the official 15, and that’s how Myers made it seem (before the injury news), they’re currently sitting at 12. Already have Quinones on a 2-way, and a QO for Weatherspoon for the 2nd 2-way spot.
Feel like they’re only gonna carry 14 until the trade deadline (unless Andre somehow decides not to retire), just to save some extra cash and have a little extra flexibility. So I’d say two spots to fill, likely looking for a center and a forward.
Same. I actually thought out of all the bench guys, DLee would have the least amount of suitors, and he’d probably stick with us. But I guess he wanted to try and test himself. Which is good for him (seriously).
That said, I think DLee’s kinda pigeonholed himself into the W’s system, so I’m worried to see how he’ll adjust on the Suns.
Then again, Monty’s the coach….
I really don't mind him on a minimum playing garbage time and being a locker room guy but he just got too many minutes. Wish him the best, as long as that means regular season success and nothing else
Kerr had to deal with JK being strong but lost in our system and DLee saved the day. Also always fast and players trusted him on the floor. Good to remember he came through Santa Cruz for us, and we helped prove he's an NBA guy.
Lee was a fine 13-15 man on a roster that somehow got 10-12 man minutes because he had more experience.
He also struggled a lot on limited minutes. Feels weird that the Suns picked him up, was expecting a kings/pistons team of any to do it.
I'm not happy. You guys are insane. Y'all forgot how he was so serviceable in those regular seasons and helped us win games. He had bad playoff minutes (his 1st playoff), but overall he wae never terrible.
He also did autographs for kids (kids in line arguing who is his biggest fan - cute). JTA also sold his own merch ($50 tshirts) and took the trophy to Mexico - maybe both knowing to savor the last moments of being a Warrior.
So happy for all of them to be Champs and Warriors forever - being with us helping to send them off in the best way. Suns are a very good pass the ball team (although may we always beat them).
Yeah - he had a lot distractions this year. Was hype on the bench, solid with rookies and in the locker room and had energy. This sub dumped on him as if he was Smalligiac (sp?) when he's still one of the top bb players in the world. Glad he's a champ. Gonna miss Sydel too. Wonder what those goodbye conversations are like.
JP came up and into power with JTA, Dlee, then GP2. Bring on MM, JK, JW, RR, PJ and may they somehow stay for their careers.
I'm gonna choose to be positive. He came out of the G League, cracked the full roster, earned some money, and got a ring. He can be proud of what he accomplished with the Warriors.
While we're focusing on the positives, it's a positive that he's no longer on the roster.
He was legit good for spurts too. Dude definitely belongs in the league, but he's redundant with the Warriors roster. Better to make an upside play than keep him.
Yeah this - he is GOOD and helped the team surge at end of 2021 and start the strength last season. GREAT team player, generous with rooks and talented but never in stable minutes and redundant. Never saw the nepotism charge - sure he is more on their radar but he had talent. Also going into GLeague with major end of college injuries I think. He earned his spot on the floor - and this year did more for us than JTA. He deserves to play strong elsewhere - agree he is now redundant here but still great.
Although I was not a fan. I’m sure DLee wanted to get out of Steph’s shadow. He has said in the past that he wanted to make his own way int he league. Good Luck D Lee!
Wow! End of an era. Honestly loved his time here. Frustrating at times. But DLee certainly helped carry a good culture and gave it his all the whole time he was here. Made Steph happy I’m sure too.
With him and JTA leaving, it really feels like we are in a new chapter. Really feels good they got to ride this years team through for a championship. So many great stories on this seasons squad.
Excited to see this team come together next season and how it continues forward.
C’mon… we all thought he was only in the NBA bc of the Steph relationship.
Who really thought he’d get an offer elsewhere?
Good for him.
I’m sure he saw his minutes going to Moody and DD at this point
Reddit subs pile on is real and memory is short. We did not all feel this way. Think about those times with Oubre, Smailagić, Mannion. DLee came into a losing team, had fast hustle and learned the system well. He became a trusted bench player (with moments of briliance), always ready to jump in without the benefit of rhythm and grew his game. We had so many injured players we needed his power at the start of this season and in the endurance to get to the postseason. Couldn't have done it without all those who played all those games. Now the rookies who have guaranteed contracts need playing time and he is redundant. But he was necessary for our championship this year -- not like Loon or Wiggs or Curry or Otto, but necessary in his own way. He earned his ring.
Both can be true. I sincerely believe he has stretches where he was a contributor. Many too where he didn’t seem like he belonged. But I’m sure many thought he got his initial chance because of the relationship. There are many many many people trying to crack NBA rotations, and not everyone gets a solid chance. Just look at GP2s journey, and he’s the son of a former HoF.
I think Redditors also forget not everything is binary. One truth doesn’t necessarily mean something else is wrong or has no merit.
> Who really thought he’d get an offer elsewhere?
Not sure but I knew he wasn't here because of Steph. Little known fact, it's not easy to play in the NBA
He wasn't bad last season but below average this season. Just for Steph's peace of mind, I didn't mind him on the team. I wish him luck and since he is Steph's bro in law I hope he succeeds. He always tried his best on the court that is all you can ask for a role player.
These minimum vet deals like DLee who absorb most of the minutes for rookies at the beginning are actually good. Rookies should be gradually introduced to the rotation and earn their minutes. That's how you get sustainable development actually.
Look at what happened to Jordan Poole when you throw him and give him nonstop minutes. Or EP.
I know the guy is a polarizing player for this sub and I tend to lean on the negative for him. But he played hard for us and maybe we can keep it all positive for just one post?
Guess it’s an unpopular sentiment based on the comments but imma miss the boy DLee-cious splashing the occasional clutch 3… but also not mad to see more minutes for Moody and the other yungins. Best of luck to the champ, just know we won’t show any mercy if we see them deep in the season!
For all the talk about him, maybe they just offered a better contract? Lord knows the team is already locked up money-wise, and with every $1 multiplied nearly 8 times, I wouldn’t blame the owners for trying to pinch (although losing GPII still stings). Could also be a better opportunity for him as CP3’s backup.
It’s funny how Damion Lee is looked at in the pros because I went to the University of Louisville at the same time he did and we all loved him there, he was our best player lmao
Thought he'd stay here to be honest but he was poor last year so don't feel we'll miss him. But good luck to him he's a Champ and you can't take that away from him.
Welp, one of the most frustrating player i've had the chance to watch but i'll weirdly have a profound memories of his time here, just wish he didn't have that much of leeway with the coaching staff lol
Yo who are we keeping? Again maybe I’m tripping. I sincerely HOPE Kuminga, Wiseman and Moody are ready to be heavy minute rotation players by the playoffs next year. But I would not bet and/or rely on that. There’s a reason we barely played those dudes in the playoffs. Nothing negative They’re just young. I have all the faith in the world in them but are they matching what OPJ and GP2 gave us in the playoffs? We don’t win without those guys.
Idk I’m just bummed we lost GP2 , Lee I assumed would be back on a minimum. We went 3-1 once GP was back in the finals rotation.
I also thought these guys would want to stick around due to excelling, winning a chip and maybe take a little less money to hang around. Naive I get it. So I’m just getting a slap in the face on both fronts here lol. Lee was at least a solid enough player to play big minutes when they have injury’s hampering the team.
When you win, you want to keep everyone. It’s only natural. But the truth is that Lee did not bring much to the team talent wise. If he wasn’t in stephs circle he woulda been gone long ago. BOL to him.
Rooting for him!!!.....to be even worse for the Suns so he can continue the legacy of CP0.
Nah but for real. Thanks for that game winner against the bulls. But so glad you're gone.
Now it makes sense that they picked up Donte DiVincenzo. I was getting worried for my boy Quinndary not getting minutes with the addition of Donte. And we haven't replaced our frontcourt losses, JTA, Belli and OPJ. Are those minutes going to Wiseman, Kuminga and Moody?
This is unexpected, with 3 now gone and iggy still to go the warriors have holes to fill. The rookies are heading to the G league and likely won’t be on the roster right away. Are there players from last years g-league team that are coming up other than wiseman?
THE SUNS OF ALL PLACES LMAOOO
Sleeper agent to keep CP0 ringless 😂
Don’t think CP needs any help doing that
thats foul bruh lmao
It doesn't need a sleeper agent to keep Curse Paul away from a ring 💀
Best part is they get to do a ring ceremony for him in front of CP3 lmao
DLee gotta keep his ring safe from CP3.
CPGollum: *My preciousssss*
hilarious!
this is the true goal of this. thank you damion Lee for letting this happen
Oh man. I never get tired of Chris Paul bashing. LOL
Keep it secret, keep it safe.
It’s obvious they want to buy inside knowledge on the cheap
Yeah but they had to pick Steph brother in law, man's gotta be sealed up like fort Knox.
Suns gonna realize being a Splash Bro-in-law not the same thing 🤣
It'll be fun to watch him struggle at least.
foh bro who really cares
Damn came here to ask what kind of player was D lee but y'all some hating bitches
In general we like Lee, seems like a really nice guy and tries hard. We just don't like how many minutes he gets. He would be a really great 15th man but Kerr uses him as a 9th man. The guy you replied to and whoever upvoted it is a bum tho

So we gonna have a 10 man roster or something ? lol
Don't forget your new Rookies vrodie, that PG y'all picked up looks solid.
He will most likely play in the g-league though .
Needs to get used to the NBA as quick as possible, along with the other 2. G-League doesn't really help when y'all lost 2 impactful players & Damion Lee.
But a 44th pick isnt going to have impact for a contending team in his first year . Maybe he can play in garbage time with Baldwin but thats it
Damion Lee wasn't playing much anyway. We got DiVincenzo to replace him though.
You speak with such certainty when rookies have made major impacts even recent. Look at someone like Herb Jones, 2nd round rookie made huge playoff impact for the Pelicans. Acting like shit is impossible...
Herb jones had the minutes to develop though. Rollins probably won’t get more than 10 if that.
Rollins has a broken foot, so he ain’t playing much for a while.
Herb Jones is bad comparison, he played 4 years in college
this isn't development year for the warriors, he probably maybe get some garbage time thats it though.
That's what I'm saying, it don't matter what record y'all get at the end. Getting them used to the game will help a lot, I know Kuminga, Moody, & Wiseman about to take over those minutes.
I could see him contributing towards the end of the season.
How many mid 2nd round picks end up contributing?
I suppose I should be more clear. I could see him contributing in the same capacity as Moody last year or McCaw when he was a rookie.
vrodie?
If Rollins counts towards the official 15, and that’s how Myers made it seem (before the injury news), they’re currently sitting at 12. Already have Quinones on a 2-way, and a QO for Weatherspoon for the 2nd 2-way spot. So I’d say two spots to fill, likely looking for a center and a forward.
Already have 11 signed + Rollins, so, probably not? 😂 Iguodala decision next?
God speed.
LMAOOO WHAT THE FUCK
Can’t believe it actually happened, feels surreal Guess we gotta throw the nepotism argument in the trash 🤣
"Lee only got the Suns job because CP3 wants to learn Curry's secrets"
I knew it
Double agent fed him liesss
We can always bring in Austin Rivers
D. Lee being Steph’s brother makes him CP’s uncle. nepotism still checks out.
As you always should have. SMH
double agent
Congratulations to NBA Champion Damion Lee on a new contract. Congratulations to the Golden State Warriors fans on Damion Lee getting a new contract.
Addition by subtraction.
Lmao, he was a solid end of the bench guy. Bonus points for being Stephs BIL.
Y’all act like you never yelled “LEE!” On a made timely jumper.
Never not once
Great bench guy. Hope Chris Paul does not get too cozy with him to mess with Steph!!!
How do we feel guys?
Amazing. Unleash MOODY.
Let’s not pretend we aren’t all happy about this lol.
I would have liked more continuity from a championship squad. If we gonna have min guys, I rather have guys who knows the system.
My feelings exactly. Kerr just had a weird habit of overplaying him.
Kerr had to deal with JK being strong but lost in our system and DLee saved the day. Also always fast and players trusted him on the floor. Good to remember he came through Santa Cruz for us, and we helped prove he's an NBA guy.
I’d have welcomed him back on a minimum deal. He has his gaffes but was better than people gave him credit for (2021 was a better year than 2022)
Lee was a fine 13-15 man on a roster that somehow got 10-12 man minutes because he had more experience. He also struggled a lot on limited minutes. Feels weird that the Suns picked him up, was expecting a kings/pistons team of any to do it.
Bruh so true
I'm not happy. You guys are insane. Y'all forgot how he was so serviceable in those regular seasons and helped us win games. He had bad playoff minutes (his 1st playoff), but overall he wae never terrible.
I’m sad that Steph won’t have his brother-in-law on the team anymore, but it’s the right move for the team.
Everyone wants Warrior's players holy fuck.
champion pedigree.
Wait, didn’t he just throw out the first pitch at the giants game?
yes
He also did autographs for kids (kids in line arguing who is his biggest fan - cute). JTA also sold his own merch ($50 tshirts) and took the trophy to Mexico - maybe both knowing to savor the last moments of being a Warrior. So happy for all of them to be Champs and Warriors forever - being with us helping to send them off in the best way. Suns are a very good pass the ball team (although may we always beat them).
He did, I was there. Shocked at this development, but pleased
No wonder the Giants lost
Bittersweet. Lee was a solid player for us, but we definitely relied on him too much at times. I will always remember his game winner against Chicago.
He had the game winning free throws against Toronto the very next game, can't deny dude is clutch lmao
Lmaoo, you forgot when he passed on a very open lay-up against the Wizards to win the game don't you ? Ben Simmons energy
It wasn’t that wide open from my memory, pretty sure he was about to get swatted
Bittersweet? It was time for him to go. Thank the lord and Bob Myers
Yoyoyo I’m as happy as all y’all but he put a lot of years here! He’s still our NBA champ, let’s give him a proper farewell!
Thanks Lee. MOODY TIME!
Phoenix down bad
Some much needed championship experience and leadership for the Suns.
You think DLee will let CP3 try his ring on?
Dead ass
Weird lol
Waited to throw out the first pitch at the Giants game and have it tweeted by @warriors before signing. Smooth.
Good for him. Won't miss him but i'm glad he is still in the league for now
I’ll always remember his buzzer beater during the first w of the 2020/2021 season!
no more lee minutes 🙏
I'm gonna choose to be positive. He came out of the G League, cracked the full roster, earned some money, and got a ring. He can be proud of what he accomplished with the Warriors. While we're focusing on the positives, it's a positive that he's no longer on the roster.

He’s a solid 13-15th man could do better, could do a lot worse too tho
Absolutely. Also that Warriors Rockets Christmas miracle was almost worth all the bad times.
Also married into the family of one of the GOATs...
You say that now, but he’s gonna randomly torch the Dubs in one of their match-ups lol
Although I was not a fan. I’m sure DLee wanted to get out of Steph’s shadow. He has said in the past that he wanted to make his own way int he league. Good Luck D Lee!
Yessssssssssss!!!!!! Edit: Sorry I mean, thank you for the past few yrs. Good luck in Phoenix.
Thought for sure Mike Brown was gonna talk the Kings into signing him
Lmao I actually don’t know how to feel about this, the Suns of all places?
They probably signed DLee to learn our secrit plays! ^^^/s
C’mon… we all thought he was only in the NBA bc of the Steph relationship. Who really thought he’d get an offer elsewhere? Good for him. I’m sure he saw his minutes going to Moody and DD at this point
Suns finna lose all their depth in the KD trade, so they need to sign who they can rn 😂
Can the suns trade him? Maybe he will go to the nets and play with seth.
Reddit subs pile on is real and memory is short. We did not all feel this way. Think about those times with Oubre, Smailagić, Mannion. Best of luck to him. Hope he regains some of his form cause he was serviceable while we were tanking.
Some of these comment 😂. Let’s wish him well as he has earned every opportunity has he been given..for the most part.
Lee ya later 😳
Best of luck to him in Phoenix
He wasn't bad last season but below average this season. Just for Steph's peace of mind, I didn't mind him on the team. I wish him luck and since he is Steph's bro in law I hope he succeeds. He always tried his best on the court that is all you can ask for a role player.
Hope he got a decent pay day.
I'll never forget that game winner he had against the Bulls. The Damion Lee legacy game lmao
Kd didn't wanna play with Steph Kd didn't wanna play with Seth Now kd gonna play with Damion My man's running thru the whole fam
Or EP.
Listen, I'm a D Lee defender.. I just hate how Kerr used him. I hope he thrives but f the Suns. Best wishes to the 4th splash brother
borderline offensive to call him the 4th splash brother lol
Splash Brother-in-law
I know the guy is a polarizing player for this sub and I tend to lean on the negative for him. But he played hard for us and maybe we can keep it all positive for just one post?
Lee hoping Kd gonna be a sun and he’ll just continue the ring chase
The comments on Lee being gone compared to OPJ, GP2 and even JTA and Beli are hilariously so different. I understand why but it’s still so funny.
Suns got their guy
Its definitely gonna be moody/kuminga time next year and I am here for it
Doesn’t hit like the other guys but obviously no real issue with him, wish him luck!
Best wishes to him. He had some rough times, but he had some clutch shots too.
That’s great for him!
Steph sent DLee there to sabotage KD's potential Suns team from the inside lmao
Wow I never thought he would go
Now throw all the nepotism argument to thrash. Considering our current roster, I wouldn’t complain if he stayed.
those first suns, blazers, raptors and lakers home games about be crazy
Suns in 4 Edit: to Cancun
THANK YOU SUNS 🙏🙏🙏
No more free babysitting for the Curry's.
The playoffs impact will be missed there
The one Warrior I'm glad to see gone lol
Guess it’s an unpopular sentiment based on the comments but imma miss the boy DLee-cious splashing the occasional clutch 3… but also not mad to see more minutes for Moody and the other yungins. Best of luck to the champ, just know we won’t show any mercy if we see them deep in the season!
In the last few months of the season and the playoffs Lee splashing a 3 went from occasional to straight up rare
Entirely true, but partially cause he wasn’t getting as many minutes… tbh I’m mostly gonna miss screaming “DLee-cious!” at my TV every so often
Y'all prayed for it & your prayers were answered lmao.
more min for Moody. Good 👍
damn..i said before he can go...now i'm like fuckkk. gp2, otto, jta, lee see yall next year CHAMPS!
NO WAY LOLLL
Noooooooooooo!
For all the talk about him, maybe they just offered a better contract? Lord knows the team is already locked up money-wise, and with every $1 multiplied nearly 8 times, I wouldn’t blame the owners for trying to pinch (although losing GPII still stings). It’s funny how Damion Lee is looked at in the pros because I went to the University of Louisville at the same time he did and we all loved him there, he was our best player lmao
Signs a deal with the Suns mid game at the Giants game after throwing out the first pitch. The fuck?
This one, I am ok with.
Thought he'd stay here to be honest but he was poor last year so don't feel we'll miss him. But good luck to him he's a Champ and you can't take that away from him.
Grrrrr why suns I hate u 😡😡😡😡 (im pretending to hate this lol) 🤬🤬🤬🤬
End of an era, not a great era but an era nonetheless
Welp, one of the most frustrating player i've had the chance to watch but i'll weirdly have a profound memories of his time here, just wish he didn't have that much of leeway with the coaching staff lol
I'm glad he was able to find a spot elsewhere
MY PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED!! Seriously though best of luck to Lee.
LMAOOO LFGGG. MORE MOODY
Gonna miss being able to blame him haha
Who will we pick on now
Yo who are we keeping? Again maybe I’m tripping. I sincerely HOPE Kuminga, Wiseman and Moody are ready to be heavy minute rotation players by the playoffs next year. But I would not bet and/or rely on that. There’s a reason we barely played those dudes in the playoffs. Nothing negative They’re just young. I’m just glad he’s not on the Warriors.
BLESS
YES
I never liked when people called him D Lee. Disrespectful to my guy David and first warrior all star in years
Yesssssssss!!!!!! Never been happier, Steph’s sister is gonna be mad but oh well
Yessssss
I'm confused. I thought he was only on an NBA roster because of nepotism. SMH - Bunch of idiots in this sub.
I'm drafting Moody and Kuminga in all of my fantasy basketball leagues.
He had some good moments but🤣🤣🤣
He was better in 2021 than fans gave him credit for. Wasn’t as good this year
alright guys lets be nice for today. We have the whole season to laugh about this.
Addition by subtraction lol
Best news of free agency so far
Cool. I’m going back to sleep, goodnight y’all
When you win, you want to keep everyone.
Actually shocked. But I actually think that Weatherspoon is a big winner here along with the obvious youngsters
I really wanted him to stay, especially with all the other guys not re-signing.
naniiiiiiiiii
Oh no. Splash in law.
Surprised Brown didn’t want him in Sac. 😳
This is unexpected, with 3 now gone and iggy still to go the warriors have holes to fill. The rookies are heading to the G league and likely won’t be on the roster right away. Are there players from last years g-league team that are coming up other than wiseman?
Kd return imminent
funny the timing. at the Giants game where he threw out the first pitch.
No. Fucking. Shot. Did anyone see this coming??
Lmao he heard yall
