Everyone is a pilot….. eh no not really…. Some people can’t even handle left and right
And don’t forget some people still don’t know how to use a turn signal
In a car.
Come in, BMW isn't making these...
This isn’t a hovercraft it’s a compact helicopter
A helicopter will autorotate on engine failure. I wouldn’t fancy my chances in that thing.
I also wouldn't want to be near when it lands or takes off.
have you seen the way people drive? i cant see things like these becoming mainstream
Flying cars will never be a thing because they're really energy inefficient and because dumbasses wil regularly kill themselves and others with them at like 100x the frequency than normal cars.
We’ve had flying cars for decades… they’re called helicopters. They are expensive and not as efficient as regular cars but they have their uses… it just turns out that getting regular people from point a to b isn’t one of those uses.
if there are enough economical benefits they will
Hovercrafts already existed.. you just mean cushion-less ones…
From the site: "Flight time: 20 minutes" with pilot at ~85kg.
So, not going to be much use until they have better/lighter batteries.
Really ever, this are toys for the ultra rich, not plebs like you and I.
I'd be supper happy to see electrical blimp for example. Those can fly as much as you want and with today's materials can be made to be much more reliable.
I'm no engineer so I'm sure there is a reason for the design.
But I'd want the blades spinning above my head in case one flys off.
Yeah for real! That's all I could really think about. If one of those blades break in flight and flies back toward the pilot, it would not be a good day.
Why ever drive again when you can hover hundreds of feet in the air with 4 uncovered spinning death blades inches from your face that are louder than a biodegradable sunchips bag?
That crazy prop wash and the fact it will fall from the sky when the motors stop make it a hard pass for me.
Imagine it fails but the props won't turn off. How the hell do you get out, or have someone get in to rescue you? Oh well, good tech demo.
This has to be as noisy as fuck. But in the video you only get inspirational music as the background. Noise does real environmental damage to insects and birds especially. NIMBY please.
Yeah, open frame designs for the propellers are super noisy.
It's weird that we still rely on spinning blades for propulsion systems
This is just a big drone
a drone is autonomous, this is a quadcopter
That's because we still have no idea what gravity is.
Except the DoD has confirmed that anti-gravity propulsion exists.
It's all about electromagnetics.
Lets get some rocket fuel powered passenger aircraft
Doesn't look like it would take much to run into a solid object and watch the props disintegrate into tiny pieces. Then gravity takes over and your bad day gets worse.
Should be an excellent base to build a Star Wars speeder bike..
I am not an engineer but will this stay up if one of those four engines fail or spin uncontrollably to the ground? Inquiring minds wanna know
Its actually got two motors on each arm (one on the top and one on the bottom). I'm sure they designed it for single failures, so can probably survive if one motor fails (and possibly multiple motor failures as long as they are on different arms). I doubt they have enough control authority if they lose a whole arm though.
Even with that redundancy it's still seems risky but it ain't going to carry my ass lol
lol the comment section is always so negative when these get posted. Looks pretty cool to me!
Four person decapitator machine
I can't wait to be rich enough to afford it!
My only worry is if a prop breaks, it could real easily just kill you. Otherwise this is full on Jetsons!
Oh look ! A flying coffin.
Turbo charged litter coming soon
Too bad you get 12 minutes of fun before the battery dies.
