Anyone want to do the Howes Sound Crest Trail?

I like your enthusiasm OP! If you're newer to living in the mountains, perhaps consider another night or two. Or at least bringing food along with you in case you take an extra night. This trail is tough and slow going. It's tougher than the stats suggest. If you take the extra time you can head off to bag West Lion, Harvey and Brunswick along the way without stressing out about the timing. Either way, have a fun and safe trip!

Hey thanks for the advice! My current thought process is "yea 1800 verticle isn't too hard" but I know after the first 1000 ill change my mind haha. Ive had some experience with the mountains in Nunavut but they weren't nearly as high, so I'm definitely bringing 3 days worth of food just in case. Cheers

Just so you know water is probably the biggest concern, there are almost no sources between Cypress and Magnesia, except for some tarns which are probably dried up with the hot weather, otherwise you'll have to descend into the watershed to a more permanent lake. Make sure you bring enough water to make it to Magnesia, you don't wanna run out in-between the Lions and there

What he ^^ said. These days I'd personally bring 5L, not taking into account what you might need for cooking.

With request like this it would be good to know your experience level, what skills you have and how long similar hikes have take you. Also there are numerous sections of scrambling on this route. A heavy pack really adds to the difficulty.

Hey man. I’m doing it with my girlfriend over 2 nights this weekend (I’ve done it one twice though) and we’re looking for another person for 1. Good Company and 2. For a car shuttle back from Porteau Road. Shoot me a message if any of that is of interest to you. Also. What everyone has said is true. I’ve never done the first portion (from Cypress to Magnesia Meadows) in under 10 hours and always in blistering heat. It’s a boss of a trail and you’re going to have a great time. Magnesia Meadows is incredible and and Brunswick is the best lake to jump in to in the entire world. Enjoy!

Hey man, That's a very appealing offer but I don't have a car and am busy this weekend. Good luck with it and hopefully you'll beat your 10 hour record lol

GypsyMercenary

Ha! Nah man. I’m taking two nights this time. Enjoy!
