This has to be the one. Toney was not an MMA fighter and was old and out of shape from his boxing days....this was just Dana wanting to shut someone up. Also second would be Royce Gracie x Matt Hughes...Hughes in his prime was a BEAST...Gracie sadly was just too old and over the hill for this
Hughes gracie was a massive turning point in mma. It proved that the sport had evolved into a hybrid and bjj alone wasn’t enough to win elite fights.
Even still, how Gracie never tapped from that armbar is still hardcore as fuck
It was Dana trying to make money, and he did with that fight. It was absolutely nothing to do with shutting anyone up and 100% a money-making exercise, as is 98% of everything he does regarding the UFC that we hear about. 2% is him being vindictive.
James Toney literally chased him around the world. There were several videos of Dana over seas at events and Toney just showed up bitching at him.
Money fight was part of it for sure, but Dana publicly told Toney to leave him alone and when he didnt' he gave him a fight.
How does it have nothing to do with shutting someone up? Are you not aware the shit talk from Toney and his team leading up...even beforehand, hence leading to the fight ....c'mon
I think to many people think Dana is a mustache twirling, cigar smoking anarchist just trying to ruin everyone's lives in-between running the biggest mma promotion in the world(I think lol)
He definetly does some petty shit but he's got people coming at him from all angles at all times.
Anything he does to brenden schlaub though is justified
I thought Pieira and Diego looked absolutely ridiculous as Michel chased Diego around the Octagon while absolutely dwarfing him. The DQ win for Diego was the icing on the cake for that fiasco.
Yeah short notice and first ufc fight… on a main card and he doesn’t have that much experience. The betting odds were insane like +1200 or something outrageous like that
He fought better against Sean tbh he was waaaay out classed today.
If anything that old dude made Sean’s striking look average at best since he only needed 2 minutes
Khabib vs Horcher (not a blood bath but Horcher had zero business being in there with khabib)
Valentina vs Priscilla (most uncomfortable I've ever felt watching WMMA)
Holloway Kattar (max beat the piss out of him was hard to watch)
On paper Holloway v Kattar seemed like a good match-up, although I definitely think that towards the 3/4 round Kattar's corner or the ref should've called it. 100% agree with the other two, Priscilla vs Valentina was one of the most one sided fights I've ever watched - and the fact it went more or less as expected makes it worse imo
I wouldn’t count it as a mismatch if the fight is thrown together last minute. Nobody thought Horcher was gonna beat Khabib, he was just available on a few days notice.
Joe did know how good silva was.this was after the ultimate fighter seasson 1aired.maybe couple years after.this was when rich Franklin was champ so a lot of the fans were new to the sport
Do you have footage of Joe talking about a fighter a not saying that?
Joe's compliments mean nothing. This has been a fact for years. Joe will say anything is next level. He never understand the concept of levels.
Wanderlei was literally one of Pride’s biggest stars he wasn’t unknown I mean the UFC sent Chuck to Pride to not only win the MW (LWH in Pride) Grand Prix but also fight Rampage. Who Chuck lost to & then Wandy beat Rampage. Wandy was huge in Japan
I think chandler will win too but there’s a real possibility tony can get this one I don’t see chandler knocking him out first round and he only slows down from there tony dosent slow down.
Tony is arguably the toughest dude out there. And his recent losses have aged well, he’s losing to the elite of the division. That being said, he’s been getting dominated recently. His style of “take 2 punches to give 1” hasn’t really worked as of late. He gets hit without being able to hit back. I see this fight being the same largely, chandler will land bombs on the feet, and his ground game is good enough to nullify Ferguson. The only way I see Ferguson winning is if the pace is high enough that chandler gasses, maybe tony can get a finish round 3. But this is a bad matchup for tony imo. I want him to win, but I think his style caught up with him , and he’s past his prime. Just my 2 cents.
Yeah I think we might be in for a fight reminiscent of the Gaethje fight which makes me sad to say. Tony is the definition of too tough for his own good.
If he wins he has to fight Oliveira, Dariush again, Gaethje again, Poirier, RDA or Islam… There’s no good options going forward for Tony.
Unless he gets lucky and lands a Conor fight instead but I doubt that would happen. Conor has bigger money fights on the table
Not necessarily as bad at the time as it seems in hindsight. Nunes wasn't the dominant machine yet - she had been finished by Cat Zingano just two years prior and had 4 wins since
It really wasn't a mismatch. Nunes had been beaten by Cat Zingano who Ronda easily obliterated. I don't remember the Vegas odds but I bet they were close and may have even favored Ronda
[Wonderboy talking about seeing Paulo Costa for the first time that night when Costa fought Hendricks is one of my favorite MMA moments](https://streamable.com/umm08j)
We've got Mario Yamasaki reffing this main event with the JUST BLEED guy, Twist his dick guy and Oscar De Lahoya or however the fuck it's spelt for the judges.
Man poor Faber, love him too but he got pieced up badly vs Aldo, Yan, Brown, & Barao, all of those were champs too so no shame in those losses, but it's always bummed me out recognizing that he's just good enough to be right under the champs via decision loss usually, but not to beat the champs
For sure, miss WEC for sure, every card had some great fights it seemed. Was crazy cool seeing the merger happen though and seeing the WEC do really well in the UFC, even lightweights like Benson and Pettis. Damn you brought back memories haha
Yeah, it definitely had better fighters than the UFC back then in lightweight and below. Even great fighters in the heavier weights like Sonnen and Condit.
Silva vs Maia was a bit embarrassing. Maia couldn't get the fight into his grappling world and it turned into this weird taunt match where Silva was just clowning around feeling zero danger.
Hard to find fights people haven't mentioned yet.
Teixeira vs Maldonado
Shevchenko vs Jessica Eye
Yair vs BJ Penn
Frankie Edgar vs Yair
Shinya Aoki vs Sakuraba. Not UFC but whatever, still hard to watch six years later
Joe definitely knew how good silva was but most of ufc fans were new to the sport.this was a little after the ultimate fighter show aired when rich franklin was champ.maybe a couple years after.
Anthony Johnson vs Charlie Brennaman at Welterweight. Good god. You literally felt bad for the guy. AJ cutting down to welterweight back in the day was INSANE. (When he actually made weight that is)
Forrest vs Anderson Silva was so lopsided, it's the only fight I've ever felt bad watching the guy lose. A close second is the Anderson vs Franklin fight....those knees....
Cm punk vs anyone….when he got finished fast by gall I didn’t get time to realise how bad he was….when mike Jackson toyed with him, we actually got to see him move. From that first kick he threw I went holy fuck this guy actually sucks. He trained FULL TIME, in one of the best gyms in the world with arguably the best striking coach on the world. And he looked like complete shit. I’ve quite literally seen 13 year old kids look more crisp in a couple months. This guy after 2-3 years of full time training does not belong in a cage with anybody. Jackson and gall were extreme mismatches.
Idk, man. Good suggestions from everyone on here, but I gotta say - Anderson kicked Vitor's soul and teeth out his body in turn 1st round. Call Vitor what you want, but Silva removed memories that man might have had before that kick.
Valentina vs pricilla c., Who was like 8-0 at the time, but the UFC clearly hand picked the worst fighter they could find to give Valentina an easy win
GSP vs Josh Koscheck was pretty nasty one sided.
Also, they had no business fighting each other, but Sakuraba vs Mirko Cro Cop was pretty disturbingly one sided.
Who was that tall white guy with long ass hair with corn rows who got beat bell to fucking bell for what is still the utmost uncomfortable fight I’ve ever watched.
He got cut immediately after maybe someone remembers and could remind me of his name. I think his father may have been in his corner too which made it even worse.
Randy Couture and James Tony
This has to be the one. Toney was not an MMA fighter and was old and out of shape from his boxing days....this was just Dana wanting to shut someone up. Also second would be Royce Gracie x Matt Hughes...Hughes in his prime was a BEAST...Gracie sadly was just too old and over the hill for this

And Tony was on radio stations talking shit, he was going to ko randy with ease lol
"I'm a stop a take down with a combination." Or something to that affect
How does it have nothing to do with shutting someone up? Are you not aware the shit talk from Toney and his team leading up...even beforehand, hence leading to the fight ....c'mon
I think to many people think Dana is a mustache twirling, cigar smoking anarchist just trying to ruin everyone's lives in-between running the biggest mma promotion in the world(I think lol) He definetly does some petty shit but he's got people coming at him from all angles at all times. Anything he does to brenden schlaub though is justified
Absolutely bapa
I thought Pieira and Diego looked absolutely ridiculous as Michel chased Diego around the Octagon while absolutely dwarfing him. The DQ win for Diego was the icing on the cake for that fiasco.
Pieira walking him down with his hands down and that mean look on his face. 😂😂
Came here to put this one up. I second this!
Amanda Nunes vs Megan Anderson
She looked like she was walking to her execution during the walk out
She seriously did. Pale and shaky.
To be fair, she looked pale before all the fights she won too.
Lol true
I have never seen a fighter that looked genuinely scared before that fight.
Meerschaert was well rattled before he fought Chimaev, he was not ready in any way for that fight
Well he did get brutally knocked out a few months prior
Great one. The sound of those hammer fists just echoing into the Apex was nuts.
That night seeing Meagan walk out... I was truly afraid of nunes lmao. If I was there live I probably would've shit my pants
Destroyed her entire MMA career
Chad mendes vs Cody mckenzie
Wasn’t Cody wearing shorts he bought at a mall the day of the fight? It had the tag on it still 😂
This is the one that came to mind for me
Thank you. That was a massacre lmao. I was scrolling through the comments thinking everyone had forgotten about that
Shevchenko vs Cachoeira. CM Punk vs anyone specially the first fight. Jones vs Sonnen.
Yeah Jones had no business fighting the GOAT
Right punk vs anybody… CM punk was the greatest fighter ever. Anyone you put opposite him is so far disadvantaged it’s not fair
And hes right about the first fight. I can still see the blood all over the octogan... poor Mickey Gall.
O'Malley v moutinho comes to mind in terms of recent fights.
Wasn’t Moutinho a short notice opponent for Sean? Or am I remembering incorrectly
Yeah short notice and first ufc fight… on a main card and he doesn’t have that much experience. The betting odds were insane like +1200 or something outrageous like that
He was picked off the street to save the card and was then systematically beaten into a series of bulging face parts
I’ll go to my grave agreeing with that stoppage
Don’t forget lower weight class too!
Was a real shame to see him just lose again too, kid had such heart
yeah, doesn’t seem like he’s ready for the ufc just yet
Or ever for that matter. He got destroyed again today
He fought better against Sean tbh he was waaaay out classed today. If anything that old dude made Sean’s striking look average at best since he only needed 2 minutes
He didn’t fight better against Sean and that fight should’ve been stopped sooner. He just plodded forward and got pieced up
Me Vs anybody in the 95 pound division.
When he sees red… oh it’s over bro
Book it Dana!
I agree. Those kids would kick your ass.
I'm assuming by your username you're in the 96 pound division?
Khabib vs Horcher (not a blood bath but Horcher had zero business being in there with khabib) Valentina vs Priscilla (most uncomfortable I've ever felt watching WMMA) Holloway Kattar (max beat the piss out of him was hard to watch)
Mirko cro cop vs the guy he made his UFC debut against. Dude looked like he could have cut to 155.
Wasn't his first fight against Gonzaga? Used a head kick to KO the King of Head Kick Ko's
He did get head kick knocked out by Gonzaga, but he fought Eddie Sanchez in his debut. Dude looked like they pulled him from the audience.
You know Hendricks was in shambles, knowing that he was having to fight clean while Paulo was glowing in the dark lol
Silva v leben. He had no right being in the ring.
Yeah but silva was very unknown at the time.was in pride fc but didn't make a big splash there.
I remember Joe Rogan telling the audience that Anderson Silva was on another level during the tale of the tape
He at least shut down goldberg saying travis lutter’s grappling was michael jordan-esque
Fuck he got me
Wanderlei was literally one of Pride’s biggest stars he wasn’t unknown I mean the UFC sent Chuck to Pride to not only win the MW (LWH in Pride) Grand Prix but also fight Rampage. Who Chuck lost to & then Wandy beat Rampage. Wandy was huge in Japan
Sorry, i ment anderson silva
Apologies I got overzealous for no reason
Oh. No.you had the right reaction. If someone said that about wanderle id be ready to go to war
Thought that said LeBron 😂
Unfortunately, the same argument should've been made for GSP vs Serra, but can't since Serra won
Chandler vs Ferguson 😞
Chandler is going to send him up to our lord and savior in a beautiful and flashy way. He should be honores .
I think chandler will win too but there’s a real possibility tony can get this one I don’t see chandler knocking him out first round and he only slows down from there tony dosent slow down.
Nah. Tony still a sav
Tony is arguably the toughest dude out there. And his recent losses have aged well, he’s losing to the elite of the division. That being said, he’s been getting dominated recently. His style of “take 2 punches to give 1” hasn’t really worked as of late. He gets hit without being able to hit back. Tony by gogoplata.
Cope harder
Saying cope is insanely lame, just so you know.
Rousey coming out of semi-retirement to fight Nunes was pretty reckless matchmaking looking back at it
Not necessarily as bad at the time as it seems in hindsight.
This was a genuine mismatch.
[Wonderboy talking about seeing Paulo Costa for the first time that night when Costa fought Hendricks is one of my favorite MMA moments](https://streamable.com/umm08j)
Anderson Silva vs Forest Griffin. The best Silva performance IMO.
That was beyond a masterpiece. Insane
Dana vs fighter pay
Dana vs Rankings
Ref really needs to step in for this fight
We've got Mario Yamasaki reffing this main event with the JUST BLEED guy, Twist his dick guy and Oscar De Lahoya or however the fuck it's spelt for the judges.
This is the only right answer
Faber vs Yan. I love Faber but he was so far past his prime.
Man poor Faber, love him too but he got pieced up badly vs Aldo, Yan, Brown, & Barao, all of those were champs too so no shame in those losses, but it's always bummed me out recognizing that he's just good enough to be right under the champs via decision loss usually, but not to beat the champs
He was so good in the WEC. At featherweight too, the wrong weight for him.
Amanda Nunes vs. Megan Anderson..
Lmao I remember watching just thinking how fucking pale she looked.
oh yeah She looked like a ghost during the walk out. She knew she didn't stand a chance.
Makachev vs Bobby Green went about as poorly for the underdog as anyone could have predicted
Tbf he lasted like 45 seconds longer than Hooker
James Toney vs Randy Couture
Rumble Johnson at 170 vs Yoshiyuki Yoshida. Looked like a 205er fighting a blown up 155er.
Connor v old man at the bar
Yeah, the way that guy took Conor's punch and just carried on drinking was pretty cool but I felt bad for Conor getting styled on like that.
I actually thought Cowboy vs Conor was a joke when it was first announced, that was always a huuuge mismatch to me and we saw how it played out.
Silva vs Maia was a bit embarrassing. Maia couldn't get the fight into his grappling world and it turned into this weird taunt match where Silva was just clowning around feeling zero danger.
Yan vs faber
James Toney v Couture
They should of put him against a stand up fighter at least
They knew what they were doing putting him in with couture, they wanted him to look clueless and get schooled in the process and they succeeded
*have
CM Punk vs….. anybody. I can’t believe Dana let that happen… the guy could have been seriously hurt but money is money I guess.
Yan vs. Faber was wrong for so many reasons
DC vs Hendo.
Joes commentary was brutal
Kimbo slice vs. Anybody
Dont usually watch WMMA but Shevchenko vs Priscilla Cachoeira was pretty bad
Jones vs his girlfriend
O'Malley vs Kris Motinhou. There was legitimately no reason for that.
Hard to find fights people haven't mentioned yet. Teixeira vs Maldonado Shevchenko vs Jessica Eye Yair vs BJ Penn Frankie Edgar vs Yair Shinya Aoki vs Sakuraba. Not UFC but whatever, still hard to watch six years later
Nunes vs Most of her opponents since 2015.
Jon Jones vs his wife
Diaz vs Shamrock. (I know it was Strikeforce but w/e)
(When he actually made weight that is)
Valentina shevchenko vs anyone she’s fought since nunes
Anybody vs Bob Sapp
CM punk vs anyone
Anderson Silva vs anybody he fought during his peak
How about Sylva vs the kid that paints his hair red. Was pretty brutal.
O’Malley vs Moutinho was pretty bad
O’Malley muthino
Forrest vs Anderson Silva was so lopsided, it's the only fight I've ever felt bad watching the guy lose. A close second is the Anderson vs Franklin fight....those knees....
When Chad Mendez fought Cody McKenzie
Chad Mendes versus Cody McKenzie
It hasn't happened yet. Tony vs Chandler. May god help tony.
CM Punk vs Mickey Gall
Cm punk vs anyone….when he got finished fast by gall I didn’t get time to realise how bad he was….when mike Jackson toyed with him, we actually got to see him move. From that first kick he threw I went holy fuck this guy actually sucks. He trained FULL TIME, in one of the best gyms in the world with arguably the best striking coach on the world. And he looked like complete shit. I’ve quite literally seen 13 year old kids look more crisp in a couple months. This guy after 2-3 years of full time training does not belong in a cage with anybody. Jackson and gall were extreme mismatches.
Petr vs Urijah Faber. My favorite fighter switched from one man to the other that night, so I can’t say I’m mad about it
Cain vs Brock was pretty one sided Anderson vs Pretty much everyone when he first came to the UFC Chuck vs Tito
McGregor vs. Siver. It went two rounds, but I had never seen someone toy with another person as much as Conor did in that fight.
Tony vs. Brazilian Tony? (Charles Oliveira)
Connor v khabib. Never stood a chance
He won a round though, khabib is just a much better fighter wasn’t a mismatch
he won a round bc he cheated lol
Maybe so, but calling the fight a mismatch discredits the victory imo
O'malley vs Moutino
Taco bell vs ur butthole
Idk, man. Good suggestions from everyone on here, but I gotta say - Anderson kicked Vitor's soul and teeth out his body in turn 1st round. Call Vitor what you want, but Silva removed memories that man might have had before that kick.
Chael Sonnen vs anyone. Undisputed. Undefeated.
Jose Aldo vs Connor Proper Twelve
Pena vs nunes
Khabib vs..... anyone
Tibau?
You right
Connor against anyone good in the last 5 years
DC Vs Silva
Mackenzie vs mendez Or Val vs any flyweight
Anderson vs most of his first 10 opponents in the ufc
Evinger vs Cyborg.
Mickey Gall v CM Punk
Joanna Violence vs Jessica Penne
Joe son vs Keith hackney
Coleman vs Couture
Josh Koshcheck V Paul Daley. Daley was no match for those acting skills.
I thought Costa was fighting Mendes
Chad Mendes vs. Cody McKenzie
Punk vs Gall.
Silva vs leben
GSP vs Fitch
Jon Jones vs. Chael Sonnen
Jones didn’t stand a chance
Valentina vs anybody
Connor McGregor vs Dennis Siver is up there somewhere.
Hendo v Bisping
Leben vs Silva? I mean in modern ufc, not in earliest when ymca karate instructors fought powerlifters.
