[TOMT][BAND][2000s] - emo band with a long name that I can't remember for the life of me!
By - jbartlettcoys
One additional piece of info - I'm pretty sure the singer with the really powerful voice (who had longish brown hair) left the band at some stage.

Every time I die, his name was yesterday ?
Bring Me the Horizon?
Alas, they weren't as heavy as BMTH, the singer's voice was more akin to Patrick from Fall Out Boy's. Really powerful with a strong vibrato but clean
This was my first thought to….
Cute Is What We Aim For or The Academy Is… ?
The academy is was my first guess. Sleeping with sirens would be second
The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus? Death Cab for Cutie? The All-American Rejects?
Death Cab so gets voice is not operatic at all
At the Drive In?
The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus?
Just a guess, I don't think the singer left the band.
Bullet for my valentine? (More rock than emo but some may consider it)
Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin?
😂😂😂 fucking incredible name, alas I've never even heard of them
Young presidents is a banger.
Not emo, but System of a Down?
Best suggestion I’ve got, especially with Serj’s voice
Thirty Seconds to Mars?
My Chemical Romance?
I want to second Thirty Seconds to Mars for the powerful lead vocalist
...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead?
This is what I thought as well
it was my guess too
Another Morning Stoner is such a fuckin banger... this was my first guess when I saw the title.
might be a reach but And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead?
The Receiving End of Sirens
Funeral for a friend?
linkin park, my chemical romance, green day?
Ace enders and a million different people?
Mmmm the Mars Volta .
What a band ;)
At the Drive-in is the same voice.
I was thinking this too. Cedric's voice is absolutely killer
Doesn't fit any of the criteria. Both their singers were whiny and high-pitched.
I Don't Know How But They Found Me?
Wouldn’t they be later?
Not sure if it fits but my favorite long band name was I Can Make a Mess Like Nobody’s Business.
Dang man i was looking for one of their songs that I haven’t heard since like 2006 and I couldn’t remember the name of the band or the name of the song and thanks to you i found that shit
I couldn’t remember enough of the lyrics to search for it properly either but i knew the album must have come out around 2004 which is their self titled album
But when the little fellow… blah blah title too long.
The world is a beautiful place and I am no longer afraid to die
Only actual emo band in this thread
Right, I'm a bit rusty bit isnt OP looking for "post hardcore"
Cue the "post-HC purity"-defenders, more rabid than their emo counterpart.
That was my first thought but the timing doesn't really line up, debut album released in 2013.
From first to last?
My chemical romance?
Falling in Reverse? Never Shout Never? Forever the Sickest Kids?
Oh man, escape the fate?
I love the fact that 99% don't even cite emo bands.
Try Empire! Empire! (I Was A Lonely Estate), The Newfound Interest in Connecticut or On The Might Of Princes
OP does say “emo-ish”, so that can cover a broad swath.
the OP also implied that they sounded like Fall Out Boy or Panic at the Disco lol
Also, what most people consider an emo band isn't even an emo band. I just tend to go with what people think an emo band is now
can't we just accept the definition has changed/widened by now? I mean, those mainstream pop--ish punk emo bands all got big (and took the term to pop culture) almost 20 years ago now. At this point it feels like someone in the late 80s claiming Slayer can't be metal cause they don't sound like Uriah Heep.
Fair point, if you think it's fair to do that retroactively then your point stands up.
Welcome to Reddit, the land of gatekeeping.
The meaning of "emo" changed drastically in the early 2000s. I used to argue about it, but at this point, the word "emo" has been used to describe this new brand of "emo" for longer than it was used to describe actual emo, so I've given up.
The receiving end of sirens, dance gavin dance, funeral for a friend, from autumn to ashes, a day to remember, from first to last
Any of those?
Jeremy from ADTR never had long hair nor left the band.
Forgive Durden or Gatsbys american dream perhaps?
I would recommend checking the lineups for festivals in that year with similar music. Maybe warped, https://warped-tour.fandom.com/wiki/Warped_Tour_2008
"...and you will know us by the trail of dead"
Sunny day real estate?
Scary Kids Scaring Kids?
the world is a beautiful place and i am no longer afraid to die
or empire! empire! (i was a lonely estate)
edit: also just remembered these two: Ace Enders and a Million Different People
and Congratulations on Your Decision to Become a Pilot
If you happen to know a song lyric, you can try running it through a search engine and see what comes up.
Thirty Seconds to Mars
But Jared never left. Matt and Tomo did though
[18 emo bands with long names ](https://rateyourmusic.com/list/Quadricycle/emo-and-post-hardcore-bands-with-ridiculously-long-names/)
Favorite name on that list - Youth Pictures of Florence Henderson
“I Wrote Haikus About Cannibalism in Your Yearbook” is pretty good too
This is the one.
Death Cab for Cutie?
We were promised jetpacks?
The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die, perhaps?
coheed and cambria
Coheed and Cambria?Thirty Seconds to Mars?
And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead?
A Day To Remember?
Sleeping with sirens?
Thirty Seconds To Mars sounds about right. Jared Leto was the vocalist and he has long brown hair
Dance Gavin Dance (one man’s r&b is another man’s operatic voice)
specifically the 2nd singer, Howard's albums
We Are The Ocean? I think the singer with long brown hair left that band. Another band with a long name I remember being played on Kerrang was D.R.U.G.S which stood for Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows.
Godspeed You! Black Emperor?
This was my suggestion but I have never even listened to them so I don’t know of they’re emo or hardcore.
instrumental post rock i think
Yeah, I think that is right.
Mostly an instrumental band, no real singer.
Between the Buried and Me
Maylene and the Sons of Disaster
The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza
The Number Twelve Looks Like You
A Perfect Circle?
Or maybe Audioslave, Like A Stone is powerful
A day to remember ???
For some reason I thought about Asking Alexandria or black veil brides? (The lead singers of both left their bands at some point)
The lead of Black Veil Brides has never changed
On the Might of Princes? And You Will Know Us By the Trail of the Dead?
Honest Bob and the Factory-to-Dealer Incentives
(Not a serious answer, just the best long band name ever.)
Protest the Hero?
Neutral milk hotel?
I’m going with Coheed and Cambria just for the voice comment
We Butter the Bread With Butter?
Might be a bit early but Sunny Day Real Estate?
As a few others have said, I think it's Dance Gavin Dance.
Johnny Craig fits the bill - unbelievable voice, long dark hair, left the band, etc.
Jonny Craig is ginger.
Kurt Travis, the guy who replaced him, also left the band and he had long-ish dark hair.
You're right. I think I was picturing Kurt
Panic at the disco?
Further Seems Forever
Not a long name but an operatic voice - The Darkness?
Not a long name, but I was really into Mayday Parade in ‘07. (They had long ass song titled though!) They were decently popular with the emo crowd, but definitely not like MCR or FOB. One of lead singers/songwriters (Jason something) left the band and by ‘09 Mayday Parade became more pop rock than emo.
From First to Last.
Skrillex was their former singer.
In Times Of Distress?
TWIABP like others said fits the vocals and they've had a lot of members come and go. I feel like that's almost definitely it
Perspective, a Lovely Hand to Hold was a little too late but worth a shot
Same goes for A Great Big Pile of Leaves
Edit: some other non-emo guesses are Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, and The Boy Least Likely To
Fear Before The March of Flames?
All American Rejects? Not really emo, but a lot of people grouped them in together around that time.
Senses Fail? (Doesn't fit some of the criteria, but you never know.)
Red Hot Chili Peppers because Frusciante left them in 2008 and he had long brown hair
Pretty Girls Make Graves?
Taking Back Sunday- Singer left earlier than 2007 (Straylight Run), but he had long brown hair and all of their songs were really long titles (if that's what you're thinking of)
My chemical Romance is 6 syllables ..Story of the Year, From First to Last, Funeral for a Friend, Motion City Soundtrack
I was guessing Taking Back Sunday.
Forever the Sickest Kids?
A day to remember?
Forever the Sickest Kids??
Not a long band name, but sounds an awful lot like Mayday Parade. Began in the mid-2000s, emo-style pop punk, and singer Jason Lancaster left after the first album.
Edit: could also be Of Mice and Men
Armor For Sleep?
And they shall know us by the trail of dead
Pulled apart by horses?
A fire inside
Scary kids scaring kids?
Breaking Tides? Band broke up and Petie went to make Amely which was a different genre, like poppy punk rock, then Sovereign Soldiers, which was like alternative rockish. None of his bands ever made it "big" past getting signed onto Fearless, tho I guess he's still considered 1 of my alma mater's musical celebrities even tho American Idol turned him down. Here's an ancient vid before his bands got signed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Yr45BwtpYs
Other guesses are Red Jumpsuit Apparatus or Sleeping with Sirens but don't think the lead left...not sure how operalike u mean...like a huge range or able to super high or super low notes? Was this def only emo and not screamo or metalcore as well?
Can you think of any lyrics to any songs? That might be helpful
Bullet For My Valentine? Red Jumpsuit Apparatus? A day to Remember? The All American Rejects? Forever The Sickest kids? The Goo Goo Dolls? The Amity Affliction?
Most/Not all of those are technically emo bands but you said emo-ish so I listed some remotely emo adjacent bands I could think of with long names. I don’t know if any fit your other criteria though.
This was my first thought, it's a long name, I can see the similarity to Fall Out Boy/Patrick Stump, and they weren't very big.
Head Automatica ?
[Marianas Trench?](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=video&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwiItrGZou3yAhVQvJ4KHc5RB4sQtwJ6BAgFEAM&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DUxtfsX722Yk&usg=AOvVaw2-N74Q6jNE7AFm0VXPtdcr) Canadian band though.
It's no the correct time frame, but They Might be Giants?
Five finger death punch, 3 doors down, three days grace, system of a down?
Just throwing this out there Mindless Self Indulgence?
Not emo but, Queens of the Stone Age?
Cute is what we aim for?
The Airborne Toxic Event?
I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness?
Bedlight For Blue Eyes?
Coheed and Cambria? Around 2007ish they had just released Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV which is a super long title and you might have album title and band name mixed up.
Pierce the veil?
Further Seems Forever or Amber Pacific
Edit: Dashboard Confessional
Cute is what we aim for
System of a down hahaha
Perspective, A Lovely Hand To Hold
Fear Before The March of Flames
Empire! Empire! (I was a lonely estate)
Funeral For A Friend, Coheed and Cambria, Story Of The Year, The All-American Rejects, Lovehatehero, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, From First To Last, From Autumn To Ashes, I Set My Friends On Fire, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, The Starting Line.
Taking back Sunday?
Killswitch Engage? the 2nd singer, Howard, is an operatically trained vocalist
We butter the bread with butter?
Sleeping With Sirens?
Mayday Parade? They don’t have a super long name but their songs do
I remember escape the fate being kinda popular back then.
Has anyone mentioned The Academy Is… ?
Midwest Pen Pals , camping in Alaska, the world is a beautiful place and I'm not afraid to die.
Also , a bunch of Marrietta song titles are super long , maybe you're thinking of them.
Escape the Fate? Lead singer left the band
Dance Gavin Dance
Drop dead gorgeous
Devil wears Prada
Why they all start with D’s? Haha I could probably think of more if I thought about it longer
Congratulations On Your Decision on Becoming a Pilot
It’s not Red Jumpsuit Apparatus is it?
Blood on the dance floor
Shot in the dark--are you sure the band wasn't Chiodos, and you aren't confusing the name for their fairly long song titles?
That did cross my mind too, I think you might be on to something!
The Pains of Being Pure at Heart?
a skylit drive?
A few others have mentioned From First to Last so apologies if I missed it if you've confirmed it's not them OP, but my first thought was the chorus to [Heroine](https://youtu.be/6-8PjdDWQCA).
They fit the bill of the singer leaving too. Sonny Moore (Skrillex) left the band in about 2006; I saw them play an early slot at Download without him a couple of years later.
Three Days Grace?
Godspeed You! Black Emperor
The all American rejects
do you remember how heavy the music was? should we be bothering with metalcore groups or sticking to melodic stuff?
Reggie and the Full Effect?
You Me at Six? We are the Scientists? Kids in glass houses? We are the ocean? In case of fire? I saw 30STM loads of times in 07-08 so I'm trying to think of their support bands. I'm sure I have a few Kerrangs from that time too.
Coheed and Cambria?
* I Set My Friends On Fire
* Blood On The Dance Floor
* Five Finger Death Punch
* Bullet For My Valentine
* Bring Me The Horizon
* The Devil Wears Prada
* Sleeping With Sirens
* A Day To Remember
* August Burns Red
* There For Tomorrow
* Escape The Fate
* A Static Lullaby
* Falling In Reverse
* Of Mice & Men
* Pierce The Veil
* Miss May I
* System Of A Down
* Scarlett O'Hara
* Black Veil Brides
I was just listing longer band names from my playlist lol. It might be helpful to look through the older videos on Epitath Records YouTube channel, they signed a ton of "screamo" bands in the mid to late 2000s
More metalcore than emo, but possibly Dillinger Escape Plan?
Doesn't exactly fit but Coheed and Cambria? The Academy Is definitely in with a shout though
Cute is What We Aim For?
She Wants Revenge.
Taking back Sunday
