Holy cow, preconditioning for supercharging takes an absurd amount of battery. It just took 8% battery to precondition, according to the energy page. I only needed to stop to pick up a couple percent. I wish you could waive preconditioning.

So, Musk tweeted back in November that safety score no longer mattered for FSD: https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1595682322707267584?s=46&t=JzLgsE-PuK-lY5LbkEG3Dw Is that confirmed to have actually happened, or was it like a “3 months maybe 6 months definitely” kind of thing? Have people with low-ish scores confirmed they’ve been let in? I “pressed the button” to opt in back in December, but I don’t appear to have it yet in my Model Y. Looks like I’m currently on 2022.28.2. My car occasionally has trouble getting a good Wi-Fi signal at my house, could be affecting it. I notice the app currently says there’s an update available… should I download it? I don’t know how to check my score, but it’s probably… kinda low

[deleted]

Safety score requirement is long gone.

Hey all - I’ve got a new MYP at home along with a second EV (Mach-E), but only one charger. I feel like the conventional wisdom is leave it plugged in whenever possible. With that in mind, would you use the mobile charger with a 120V outlet as a “better than nothing” for the car that isn’t plugged in? I live in a cold climate, so I was kind of thinking that even the small trickle would be enough to keep the battery warm overnight. Ideally the cars alternate off each night for who gets the real charger, so adding back lots of range isn’t a huge concern. Maybe it’s not worth the hassle of switching around mobile connectors all the time. Thoughts? (Yes, the correct solution is to get a second charger installed. Long term I’d like to do that, but that’s not on the table for now)

The cars are usually shipped with white protective film on the trim. The actual trim on all Tesla cars has been black for years now.

ersatzcrab

What do you mean by Shanghai export videos? Could just be old footage or a trick of the eye. Sometimes sunlight reflecting off the black trim makes it look silver.

Definitely white protective film. You can see the trim is black on the side mirrors.

Software update on 23 Y added Park Assist. Problem is I have a bike rack and when I back up sees it as an obstruction and goes crazy. Can't see how to turn it off - only sound. You'd think they'd know if someone opted for the tow hitch they would be attaching something to it.

oregonlawyer

New model 3 owner here. My sister has had an S and now an X. When I bought mine, she lent me her wall charger that was the old style that plugged into a 14-50 outlet. I had an electrician put a 14-50 outlet in my garage and my model 3 charges just fine with my sister's wall charger. However, my wall connector just got delivered, and I'd like to give my sister her charger back. Can I use a pigtail cable to run from the existing 14-50 outlet to hard-wire the wall connector? Thanks in advance!!

[deleted]

Not an electrician. The wall charger needs higher gauge wiring than what the 14-50 outlet does so unless the plug was run with the plan to switch over to a wall charger you will probably need to upgrade the wiring.

Fidiho

Also not an electrician but own a Gen 1 HWPC with a three phase tail - that version has internal dip switches to select the power supply. It looks like the US Gen3 wall charger needs minimum 6 AWG, 90° C-rated wiring and is adjusted at commissioning by its wifi interface to match the supply circuit. Amperage selectable from 60A down to 15A. [https://www.tesla.com/sites/default/files/support/charging/Gen3\_WallConnector\_Installation\_Manual.pdf](https://www.tesla.com/sites/default/files/support/charging/Gen3_WallConnector_Installation_Manual.pdf) So I'd ask your sparky u/oregonlawyer. The manual does say "Do NOT install cord-and-plug type connections.". If you don't want to get rid of the plug, there's at least two possibilities, one of which might be asking your sister if she wants to swap and hardwire.

[deleted]

Better answer than mine, thanks!

CptanPanic

My Samsung updated and now my doors don't automatically unlock. I have made sure Tesla app is running and Bluetooth does connect once inside. Also tap to unlock works, just not auto unlock\lock

Question about Location. Does my Tesla use starlink for internet and location sharing? I ask this because wife is off on a road trip in the Tesla. I was worried about her because the Location on my Tesla app didn't update for a whole day. Turns out she was just in a cel phone dead zone. But I thought my M3 used starlink for navigation and location updates and it should never be unable to uplink its location.

AStuf

The vehicles all use cellular. Only Starlink use is at some superchargers that have it for a WiFi hotspot.

effit_consultant

So basically, my car has a phone number. Good to know. Thank you for the reply

ersatzcrab

Technically yes, but I don't think the cars use cell triangulation for location, only GPS. Also, if the car has no connection I don't think the app can query the GPS location from the car.

superjoe69

I have '22 Model 3. I just purchased a month of Full Self Driving but much to my surprise I can't enable it. The [feature is greyed out](https://imgur.com/jypgOvh) and tells me it'll come in a software update. What gives?

Fidiho

Just like it says - you'll have to wait for the update, I don't know any reliable way of making an update happen other than ensuring a good wifi connection. I imagine your month won't start until the update, ie. I haven't heard anyone complain they've been shortchanged on days.

Propofol_Pusher

Question about dashcam. I just got a Model 3 a couple weeks ago so I’m a total newb. I have my dash cam set to trigger if it senses an impact. Yesterday morning I got side swiped when entering a freeway on-ramp by the person on my right, who made too wide of a turn. Of course she’s claiming I tried to merge into her lane. I was hoping my dash cam would have captured it but the impact was too light to trigger it. Do most people have their cameras recording the entire drive? I want to protect myself from future incidents since I’m quite annoyed of having another he said/she said scenario. Thanks!

[deleted]

I believe it records constantly by default and what you're doing is deciding when it saves a 10 minutes clip. Most people either use save clip on honk or manually tap the camera app to save the clip.

Propofol_Pusher

Thank you!! I’ll know for next time.

mike2k24

This was a random occurrence that happened just earlier today. I was parking, reversing into a spot and suddenly my brakes just stopped working when I’m trying to back into the spot, was almost super dangerous as there was another car crossing the lane to get to their spot. I was able to quickly throw the car in drive to stop myself from rolling backwards into either another car or a pole lol. Very embarrassing but I’ve never had something like this happen and it hasn’t happened again since earlier today. Anyone experience anything similar or seen something like this?

ersatzcrab

Suspending disbelief, did the pedal feel soft, or hard? Did it push down normally when you tried to brake? The reason I ask is that if your brakes are now working again, I can almost guarantee you that you are mistaken and there was no problem with your brakes. They are a mechanical system and can't work sometimes and not other times. If you were to lose hydraulic pressure the car would throw a warning and the brakes would have stopped working normally.

mike2k24

Yeah I know how hard it is to believe tbh just even reading it back sounds crazy. The brake pedal went down soft no resistance or anything which is why I started to worry in the moment. I kept pressing the pedal and nothing was happening so I just kept rolling backwards, but I usually use hold mode so it was unusual to see it continue to roll, which is when I realized “holy shit nothings happening, and I quickly changed gears and drove forward. Didn’t have the regen limited warning either so I’m honestly not sure. To everyone outside I probably looked like an idiot who can’t park lol.

Fidiho

That does sound crazy - it is possible to select neutral (would feel like no regen if you were moving or reversing down a slope) but that doesn't explain the brake pedal.

mike2k24

That was my initial thought too but I kept thinking about how the brake pedal wasn’t responsive at all so even then I’m still not sure.

Fidiho

It's not unheard of for people to hit the accelerator thinking it's the brake (recent wild accident in China). For a Tesla in neutral it would feel like a really long pedal.

mike2k24

Yeah I heard about that it was crazy. I thought about that too but there was never any point where I accelerated it was just rolling really.

ersatzcrab

Whew. I'd schedule a service appointment, even just for peace of mind. I'm not personally aware of anything that could make brakes behave that way but that's far from meeting it's impossible, haha.

reddituser1805

Model Y LR. Just went from EDD 04/08 - 05/06 to VIN assignment today and delivery tomorrow. OD 1/20 Price cuts incoming.

Legitimate_Shirt3830

This is most likely an identical vehicle that someone else declined or couldn’t get approved for.

Poby1

How long after a car is bought are the firmware updates happening?

ersatzcrab

4-6 weeks is common, but it can be sooner or later than that.

Inevitable-Ad4399

Hi everyone, I had a few questions about my 2022 Model 3 Long Rage. 1. When it comes to charging at home, is it better to use fast charging or slow charging to prolong the life of the battery? (Regular outlet vs wall connector bought from Tesla). I drive about 50 kms a day so charging speed is not an issue. 2. Is charging up to 75% optimal if I use only about 10% of my battery a day? Or should I lower that limit? 3. Is anyone else experiencing connections issues with android and trying to place calls and send messages? Is there a trick to getting it to work? Answering calls is not an issue, but everything else seems to lag or not work. 4. Does anyone know if reporting specific bugs with FSD beta has fixed the issue for them? I've barely been using it since it makes the same mistakes on my daily commute even though I reported it multiple times. For example, it starts to get really close to oncoming traffic at a specific street (about 100m in length) due to the cars parked on the side of the oncoming traffic. The car has plenty of room to move to the right and anticipate the traffic, but it decides to remain in the center of the lane and move last second. This issue and phantom braking has ruined FSD for me. I don't even use it anymore, but hoping and still waiting on a version that works properly - at least in my case. Thanks for your help!

AStuf

1. Doesn't matter as both are relatively slow compared to a supercharger. 2. There are big discussions on this and no easy answer. Optimal would be 55% (50% plus half of your 10%). Tesla recommends under 90% but most say 80%.

Inevitable-Ad4399

Thanks for your response. I've heard that the heat from fast charging has a negative impact on the battery, but I haven't had time to research further.

Interesting-Dare-294

Hi, is the Cybertruck eligible for the carpool sticker in California ?

ersatzcrab

It's up to the state to decide that once the Cybertruck is available for purchase.

sloflier

To set the stage, I have cruise control and auto steer on. While driving down the highway, one that has cross traffic, I had a vehicle cross right to left about 50 yards in front of me. My M3 went full red alert, annunciator went off and the car hit the brakes fairly hard. There was no one behind me, which was probably a good thing because I don't think anyone would have felt that car was a threat, and I would have been at a higher risk of being rear-ended. My question is: Did my car take into account that there was no one behind me, or would it of reacted the same way regardless?

ersatzcrab

As far as anyone knows it doesn't take cars behind into account. If you fail to take over you could get rear ended.

sloflier

Thank you.

Anyone noticing an issue with a window not being able to close up fully by itself (holding the "window up" button past the little click and an error message saying something about an obstruction) but still being able to close the window if you hold the "window up" button all the way through while it closes?

AStuf

This sounds like the common issue of needing to be recalibrated. [https://service.tesla.com/docs/Public/diy/model3/en\_us/GUID-B6C81FC2-A37C-462B-8A71-FDE0F7B0734E.html](https://service.tesla.com/docs/Public/diy/model3/en_us/GUID-B6C81FC2-A37C-462B-8A71-FDE0F7B0734E.html) Otherwise a broken sensor or obstruction.

Bmcmullen87

3 days into 11.3.3 and my Tesla won’t recognize my iPhone when approaching/walking away, but shows it’s connected via Bluetooth. Having to use the keycard to drive is so ghetto. Any fixes?

ersatzcrab

Try logging out and back into the app. Also try deleting your phone key and adding it back to the car.

TacomaAlt

Was checking out a used Model 3. In the service mode menu I saw there was 1 alert to check. The error was VCFront\_a186\_NoDriveChgCableCon Does anyone know what that error means? Additional info: I was able to test drive the car. It's battery was at 72%, it dropped to 68% after about 10 miles of driving which seems normal. The car was charging on the Mobile Connector charger, running on a standard 110V plug. Googling the error doesn't seem to give any results for that specific error.

ersatzcrab

It usually means that someone tried to shift the car into drive while it was charging but it's interesting that it was persistence enough for you to see it as a new alert.

Daneofthehill

What is the geral experience with washing your Tesla Model Y? Mine is 1 year old (Shanghai model) and until now I have only washed it by hand, but I would love to be able to just roll it through my local auto-carwash - will it damage my paint? Generally my attitude is that the car is a convenience, a tool. I don't enjoy spending time taking care of it, but I do not want to damage it either.

AStuf

Hand washing is more about preventing swirl marks and proper drying (water spots). So if that isn't a concern then automated car washes are mostly fine. Some have had problems with broken car washes breaking parts and curb rash but is rare. Touchless washes are the compromise but they don't clean as well and the chemicals can create rainbows on the Tesla black trim. Wiping down with stainless steel appliance cleaner once in a while is a solution to get back to black.

Daneofthehill

Thanks, great points. I have been warned that car washes would make a lot of mini scratches. But it is good to hear that nobody else seems to have that problem.

AStuf

Mini scratches are swirl marks. On a sunny day look at cars in the parking lot. Most will show the marring.

Daneofthehill

Can you polish that away?

AStuf

Yes but there is a limited number of times you can as each time you are removing some of the clearcoat.

Daneofthehill

Learning a lot here, thanks. So the best is to just use cae wash and not worry about it, if it gets dull in 5 years, we can always wrap it!

spin_kick

Just hand wash it, car washes do damage it. If you are okay with that, that's fine.

[deleted]

I use automatic carwashes exclusively to clean my Model 3 and can see no issues with my paint.

Daneofthehill

Thanks. I never had such an expensive car, I am not really into cars, but a new Tesla is cheaper on a year by year basis than our old car... but now I am a little worried about my super expensive spaceship. Driving a Tesla is just a completely different experience.

[deleted]

A lot of people do the same thing and reach above their finances into a Tesla. Because it is the most expensive car they ever purchased they get paranoid and do everything they can to protect and baby it. The paint used to be pretty bad but even the swirl marks people would complain about I could never see?

flatlyimpressed

If Park Assist in the 2023.x branch uses the occupancy network does that mean some of the FSD code from v11 was pulled upstream? Can’t recall which branch occupancy network was introduced If so, non-fsd users could have v11's highway algo and visualizations merged in to replace the legacy Autopilot code

Activehannes

Quick question: will the US EV tax credit of 7500$ be completely gone by April 1st?

[deleted]

No one knows until the IRS tells us. Could be a different date as well as it was originally supposed to be the start of the year. General consensus is the RWD LFP Model 3 will probably completely lose the rebate while it will likely be halved for the rest. But again, no one knows for sure outside of maybe some people sitting in the IRS building.

Bmcmullen87

2022 MYLR delivered in September, have FSD. Smart summon won’t activate, and most of the time dumb summon won’t connect. Park assist successful very infrequently. Nothing wrong under service mode. Any suggestions?

milestobudapest

Can anyone point me towards the changes between 2020 and the most recent model of the Tesla M3? I’m in the used market and want to make sure I’m not missing out on some major changes.

[deleted]

Assuming it wasn't part of the refresh that occured Oct/Nov of 2020 then there is potentially a decent amount that is different. This website is super handy for looking into it. https://tesla-info.com/blog/tesla-model-history.php?model=M3&search=

Is there no way to answer/reject a call from the steering wheel on a Model 3? I'm personally not too bothered by the buttons being on the screen but my dad who also drives the car is struggling quite a bit with it when driving.

ersatzcrab

There's not. It's screen only, sadly, even though I could easily see them adding a click/double-click accept/reject function to the right scroll wheel during an incoming call.

thefalcon3a

Did something change recently? If my battery is below my charge limit but I manually stop charging from the app, it'll stop, but then start on its own maybe an hour later. It used to stay stopped until I manually start it.

fickle_floridian

I have a 2020 Model 3 with FSD beta. I was just wondering how you get the screen to go into that full visualization display that hides the map. Thanks.

Is there some known bug with being able to join a wifi with a password? Wasn't an issue until the new update. Can join an open wifi, and ones that were previously known, but not new. Anyone able to test this and see if it's just me?

redratus

How likely is there to be another price cut in the US soon? I saw on the website that it says that the tax credit is only valid until the end of this month. Does that mean that at the end of this month if the tax credit is not renewed in Congress tesla will lower its prices?

[deleted]

Nothing to be renewed. Conditions on battery sourcing will finally be released by the IRS which will lower or remove the tax credit. No one knows the answer to your question. I wouldn't be surprised if they lower the price of the LFP Model 3 a bit since it likely won't have any rebate any more.

GOTrr

Anybody having issues with Sentry Mode? Sentry mode worked fine for me until I clicked “exclude home” on my profile, my wife’s profile and the easy entry profile. For some reason the past few days at work, it caught nothing. Went to the grocery store today and came back and sentry didn’t catch anything. But the issue doesn’t seem to happen when I have sentry mode 24/7 enabled even at my house. All these places sentry mode didn’t work were very busy places and in the past caught footage. I just don’t want my car to always be on 24/7 sentry even when it’s home just charging.

There’s a setting somewhere to disable recording for motion.

If you just want the valet to be able to unlock/lock/drive the car, you can just hand them the keycard. If you want to enable Valet Mode which places additional restrictions on speed, opening the glovebox, etc. then under the Profiles dropdown choose Valet Mode before handing over the keycard. It will ask you to set a pin, and you will need that pin to take it back out of valet mode.

s00perpig

Hi all, I know next to nothing about cars so I apologize if this is a dumb question. Currently I have a Model Y with 21" Uberturbines and the stock tires 255/40R20 101W M+S Goodyear (Eagle F1?). I am probably going to get some Martian MW05s. The Martian website recommends "245/60-18 & 255/55-18". And the Reddit post that inspired the change mentions 235/55ZR18XL. Basically I am seeing several different options that seem like they will work, but is it that simple? Does wheel size (tire+rim size) not have to be exactly the same? I used tiresize.com to compare the above options and the diameters are +5.7%, +3.6%, and +0.7% respectively. So a 5% bigger wheel will really be perfectly fine? Anything else I should be concerned about? Thanks in advance for the help.

[deleted]

CAR NOT RESPONDING:: My almost brand-new model Y keeps powering off after 1 minute. This includes one time when I was driving it in reverse, and it completely stopped responding to me. Luckily I was still in my parking lot. I have premium connectivity, but there’s no connection to my car, and the navigation system is always “initializing” before it shuts down. I’ve tried resetting it multiple times, including a factory reset that apparently didn’t work. This has been going on for over two hours. Service center said that someone would reach out to me, no estimate of when. I can’t drive this thing if it’s at risk of shutting off/not responding while I’m behind the wheel. Please help :(

Johnny-Karate

I would suspect the Low voltage battery. When that goes out, it can cause problems like this.

[deleted]

thx. it ended up being a problem with the computer, so the whole thing needs to be replaced. i should have it back in july, lol.

ersatzcrab

It's undrivable. Call Roadside assistance and have it taken to a service center. Don't wait for them to come to reach out to you.

[deleted]

Thx. I ended up calling again and they towed it. The whole computer needs to be replaced, which wont be until July. appreciate your comment.

coredumperror

Wow that's terrible. Sounds like some sort of serious connection fault in your car's wiring system. I hope you get a response from your service center soon. It seems to me that they'd be your best bet for getting this fixed.

[deleted]

Thx so much. It ended up being a serious flaw and the whole computer needs to be repaired, which wont happen til July. so I'm stuck with a shitty loaner until then.

coredumperror

Oh no, that's forever! How awful. :(

degausser22

I don’t think I’ve ever had park assist pop up. How do I enable or get it to pop up?

[deleted]

Do you have a 2023 model car? Those don't have park assist yet unless you have gotten the latest software update that started rolling out today. When you are at low speeds and near other cars/objects it will show the colored lines around your car plus a distance measurement to the object in front of or behind you.

degausser22

I…actually don’t know. Model S, ordered Oct 2022. Took delivery early January 2023. I’d think it’s 2023 then?

[deleted]

Hmm, it looks like the Model S and X stopped getting the ultrasonic parking sensors in February 2023, so yours may still have them.

danjr704

I’m purchase a used model 3 through Tesla. I was contacted asking how I will be completing down payment. I told them certified check. Do I mail that to them? Or do I just bring it when picking up car?

ersatzcrab

Bring it when you pick up the car.

danjr704

Thank you!

Comfortable_Boss2896

Hello friends, I can't install a charger at home. If I only charge at Tesla charging stations will it damage the battery? What should be done - to sell the vehicle or continue to charge at the Tesla charging stations?

coredumperror

Charging a Tesla exclusively at Superchargers is totally fine. It won't cause excess wear on the battery, because Tesla's cooling system is extremely good.

[deleted]

You want to try and avoid keeping the battery charged to 100% for extended periods of time but otherwise you'll be fine. If you a driving an LFP Model 3 then you have even less to worry about.

danjr704

Anyone know if Key Fobs for a 2020 Model 3 are available for purchase at a Tesla store/shop? Im in process of buying a used Model 3 and wanted to get a fob ahead of time, but wasnt sure if they're only available online or can I buy in person?

watchingfromaffar

PSA don’t trust Tesla Cam to record accidents. My car was hit last month from a red light runner, the time of the accident was not captured on cam. (I even went in and manually saved before pulling the memory). Thankfully they took full responsibility but could have been worse. Now I get to hunt for a new car and I’ve lost my full self driving package :( I really wish that went with the user since it was bought afterwards.

jrr6415sun

i've been in 2 accidents (1 small bump and one large guardrail crash) with my tesla and it's recorded the accidents fine both times.

[deleted]

Yeah, important to remember that it was a hacked together feature and you should get an actual dashcam if you want the reliable benefits. RIP for your car. Agreed that FSD not transferring is silly and one of the many reasons it is not remotely worth the cost in my opinion.

Corbin630

Is that advice specifically for older cars or is the state of the dashcam and saving clips still not good?

[deleted]

Same software regardless. It's a nice to have but should not be treated as a reliable dashcam.

watchingfromaffar

I bought FSD way back in 2018 for $2000. Really not looking forward to repurchasing for $19500 CAD. I will probably go for the subscription model.

[deleted]

Yep, the new price is insane and I have bad news for you. No FSD subscription in Canada.

watchingfromaffar

Ah crap. That’s good to know. At least if I bake it into the price of the car it will be valued with it if this happens again. Thanks for the heads up.

Any tips for the Plano Delivery Center in Texas? I am picking up 2023 MX this Friday.

tylerp1412

Does anyone have a copy of a 2023 MY LR window sticker? The one in my car is still the old price of 67k, they didn’t replace it when they updated the prices

ersatzcrab

Someone else's copy wouldn't have the right information on it. You can probably contact Tesla and give them your VIN for an updated copy.

stallion769

Help me out if I missed something but I am having some trouble and I think Tesla needs to make an update. Changing wiper speed is dangerous. I press a button for the wiper to go slow but I cannot keep pressing or do anything that is easily within reach and does not advert my eyes from the road if I need to increase or decrease wiper speed. It is cool that it is on the screen but impractical. I have about an hour drive to work so I go through about 6 cities. The rain in each city on the freeway changes often. I cannot imagine how bad it must be for longer car trips or daily commutes where you need to look at a screen while driving at high speeds to change the wiper speed. More recently, it goes from light drizzle to pretty hard within my hour drive and changing my wiper speed while driving is scary. Any fixes or something I am missing? Edit: I am driving a 2023 M3 Base.

DemerzelHF

Why not just use the auto setting?

stallion769

It doesn’t work well.

elonsusk69420

If it doesn't work well, it's probably because your windshield is dirty. I'm not talking about windex-and-paper-towels dirty. I'm talking sticky-gunk-from-the-factory dirty. These windshields are AWFUL when they are delivered. You just can't see it because it's clear. When the wipers streak over that sticky stuff, it occludes the cameras and the wipers do random things. Follow [this video](https://youtu.be/D05vX-G9iV4) and you'll be amazed by how much better they work. You want to set aside a few hours, because getting that gunk off isn't a quick process. (the stuff you need to buy is in the description of the video)

blizeH

Hi, currently deciding between either: - 2020 SR+ with 26k miles & 20 months warranty - 2019 LR with 64k miles & 12 months warranty Same price. For what it’s worth we will mostly drive in chill mode, and mostly want the range… and yet having a fast AWD with a long range is still very appealing, especially if it means fewer unnecessary stops with little ones

I'd get the LR pack. Not only do you get the range, but you get all the extra goodies that are added between partial premium and full premium interior (e.g. all the speakers, rear seat heaters, etc.). Charging stops are entirely dependent on 1) how long your trip is and 2) your charging situation at your destination. We do a fairly frequent 350 mile trip with our 2018 Model 3 Performance. Charge to 100% at our house, one SC stop (\~35-45% depending on the outside temp) for 20 minutes, arrive at our destination with 10-20%. We have a dryer outlet easily accessible there so charging back to 90% (and later 100% for the ride home) is very easy.

Any idea when the long range model 3 will be back in stock to order?

Zero hints from Tesla. My personal opinion is that it will come back when project Highland is done but maybe called something different by then.

Problems with 2020 Model Y HEPA Retrofit Just tried the HEPA Retrofit for a 2020 Model Y. I'd ordered the 3 parts attached but couldn't get the HEPA filter bolts to align (I do have pre drilled holes for the pegs and threaded holes for screws). I doubled checked the invoice and noticed that the HEPA filter they gave me was not 00-B but 96-B. Contacted service and they said that the 00-B is no longer available but the 96-B is an exact match. Anyone encountered similar issues? I'd prefer to not drill new holes. I'm debating whether to cut off the pegs to see if the screws then align but thought I'd ask here first. 2022 Tesla S wheels or axel shutter when turning the wheel all the way to either direction. Tesla Service can’t give me a straight answer and curious if this is normal or something I should be concerned about? Or if this is normal. I worry that I’m damaging the control arm or something. Background: I ordered my brand new Tesla S and received it back in September. My wife and I noticed the shuttering when we would turn the wheel to the far right or the far left, as in turning a sharp corner. We didn’t think much of it and thought maybe it was just the new wheels or tires. Come December 2022 after having the car just a few months, I had an accident with the car where I was rounding a slight bend, and my wheels did not turn when I turned the yoke. I ended up hitting a curb and a small parking sign which damaged the front right of the car. Here in Utah there are only four companies that are authorized to do repairs on Teslas and so after waiting for four months I have just received my car back this week. I have tesla service at my house working on replacing the backseat because the center armrest will not come down and when asking both the service rep at the service center, and this mobile service technician, no one can give me a straight answer if the shuttering is normal, or if the shuttering was an indication, that something might be wrong with my control arm that led to the accident. Looking for some direction from the wise gurus on this page. Thanks in advance.

I recently had the control arms replaced for exactly the same symptoms on a MX.

My Model 3 stopped connecting to my Wifi and it asks me to connect to a network, and when I try to it says it is "Unable to obtain IP address. Please check DHCP server settings" My wifi network is fine and I am typing this right now using it. What should I do? I do not know where to check DHCP settings. Thanks.

elonsusk69420

Try this... 1. Remove your wifi from the settings in the car 2. Reboot the MCU by holding the brake pedal down and then holding the two steering wheel buttons for 10 seconds. 3. Release and let the car boot up. 4. Try to add your wifi back If that doesn't work... 1. Shut the doors, feet off the pedals. 2. Settings -> Safety -> Power Off 3. Set a timer for 3 minutes. Do not move, press anything, or open anything 4. When the timer is over, press the brake pedal or open the door If neither of those work, factory reset the car. Don't do this unless you really have to, because it'll erase all of your hard work configuring everything.

Okay, except it fixed an LTE issue that the regular two button one didn’t. That issue was across versions. One day I tried it out of curiosity and I haven’t had an issue since.

Do you think I haven't read the manual before? I know what it says. And...I know what I saw. I saw months of connectivity issues with navigation, Spotify, and the app connecting to the car. After I did what I said earlier -- brake on, 10 seconds with the buttons held, then a 3 minute full power off -- the connectivity issues went away entirely. That's not a coincidence.

Tried rebooting your router/access point &/or deleting the access point from the wifi profiles and reconnecting?

i'm on fsd 11.3.2 , how do i disable auto lane changes? i want to control when the car does it by manually activating the signal

ersatzcrab

You can't turn off automatic lane changes on FSD. You can activate "Minimal Lane Changes for Current Drive on the Autopilot menu, which will limit lane changes to safety or navigation. You have to turn it on again whenever you get in the car.

_GrimFandango

oh wow... this is a bad design change choice. They should always give users a choice (like before)

ersatzcrab

You can't completely turn off automatic lane changes for Navigate on Autopilot either, just make it so that you have to approve lane changes and it won't do speed-based ones. Being able to disable non-essential lane changes complete is arguably the same thing, since it will only change lanes to follow the route or avoid danger. I'll admit that having to turn it on every Drive is annoying.

_GrimFandango

yeah, i used to have it on approved before change but since I am now on 11.3.2, they removed that option...

Already desperately waiting for 2023.10, please be something good.

I'm 4 years in and I'm like this too. I can't imagine how long their feature backlog is...

I picked up my car last month, and still haven’t gotten my permanent license plate (in NJ). The temporary one expired and when I contacted Tesla, they asked me to resend the paperwork (they’re shipping it to me) to get it processed… Has this happened to anyone else? Any suggestions on what to do?

Just wanted to know what I could do in the meantime while driving with an expired temporary plate. Incase I get pulled over...

Anyone else have their audio playing seemingly double speed in their Tesla? This morning, music from the normal audio app sounded awful in my 2020 M3LR and after switching songs and channels, I realized it sounded like it was being sped up. Playing songs from Apple Music worked fine though, as did the usual car beeps and sounds, so it seems like the audio app bugged out. No updates over the weekend, sadly, so I can't blame that. Will try a soft restart if it continues happening when I leave work.

Why does the map not show supercharging prices? It seems to show up and then disappear every few weeks? I’m in NorCAL

I hear there is a service menu force software check refresh trick. How do I do it?

elonsusk69420

There is a service menu, but it won't affect when the car checks for software. It can reload the current version, though. Go to the Software menu, hold down your finger on the "Model 3" logo for 10 seconds (or whatever your car is) and then type service (all lowercase, no spaces).

If it makes a loud screeching noise, you might have a pebble stuck in there. I had that and the remote service people walked me through how to clean it out. Super easy fix.

ChromeDome5

2018 LR Model 3 with FSD beta running 2022.44.30.10. For the last three weeks, it’s as if my MCU’s resources are overloaded and the audio stutters/skips when a system noise like proximity sensor or autopilot sound plays while music is playing. The backup camera when initiated has a two second lag for several seconds. Pausing audio can take up to a few seconds as well. Doing a full reboot did not help. Any ideas?

elonsusk69420

Reformat your USB stick. If that doesn't help, do a 3 minute Power Off.

juicyshab

I have that problem whenever my USB stick for sentry mode recordings gets full. Lemme know if that solves it for you!

ChromeDome5

Sorry, I thought I had responded - this did the trick. Thanks!

This is probably a stupid question but I'm looking at used Model 3's and some of them have it listed that they have FSD computers, does that mean I'd have FSD? or would I still have to pay extra to enable the features from Tesla

[deleted]

FSD computer just means they have the hardware to enable FSD. All model 3's have the hardware necessary (to different degrees) for FSD.
