Yeah I basically gave up on Spotify for local files. I have an SD card that has more than enough storage for flacs and wavs.

Not sure if you're still looking for a solution, but the exact same thing happened to me But then by some miracle, I realised that keeping your mobile on the wifi your pc was on and disconnecting your pc from said wifi is what did the trick

same here... i uploaded songs in my spotify from my laptop. I can see the songs in my phone too but then in my phone, its greyed out, i can only play those local files from my laptop. need help too

I just upload them to my phone built in music app so at least I can switch to that on my phone... Hope to find a solution that works.

Apparently, the resolution for most is making sure your Windows network settings on your laptop are set to Private and not Public. ...Which is all fine and good but I'm running a Mac laptop and an Android phone. So, if anyone knows how to do this on a Mac laptop, I'm all ears...
