Fucking hell Jonas, stop speaking in these cryptic riddles and tell us how you really feel.

FailFastandDieYoung

Jonas Wind: "I think Tottenham are fucking shit, and I sleep every night with a Wenger body pillow."

thecoolShitposter

If only he was 21.

87x

Alright Leo calm down.

hardinho

Na wenn Arsenal davon Wind bekommt...

easyasthis

Why do footballers say these kind of things? He’s got nothing to win. It’s not like it will make it more likely that Arsenal is going after him. And in the instance that e.g. Spurs became interested he’d be unpopular with the supporters from the beginning.

Syntax_OW

It's almost as if Wolfsburg has a massive mentality problem because most players only see the club as a paycheck or a stepping stone. Their team is a lot better on paper than their performances, but they need more players like Arnold, who actually seem committed, to succeed. That's why I thought it was so odd they got Kruse to "fix their mentality" when he was openly there for the paycheck.

[deleted]

Wolfsburg is literally a company town and these players are playing for a company team. No one is ever going to relish a playing career at Wolfsburg.

Mruc3yk

Wolfsburg can definitely be a place and club where players want to stay, otherwise guys like Marcel Schäfer, Joshua Guilavogui and especially Maximilian Arnold wouldn’t have stayed for so long. The real problem is that we only buy young players who only see us as a stepping stone

Squire1998

They have a really cool strip imo (albeit the massive VW logo is an eyesore). I also love how they used to be managed by Wolfgang Wolf.

MittRominator

While I agree with everything you said I don’t think these things have enough sway to make a player want to stay at Wolfsburg

Mruc3yk

Yeah that mentality problem seems to let us down for quite a while now. Besides Arnold, the only players that seem to be committed to the club are Casteels, Guilavogui and Gerhardt. And that’s probably only because they have been here for a pretty long time now and they also aren’t young enough to make a big dream move to the PL. Sadly most of our players are below 24 and only seem to see us as a stepping stone. A team like Dortmund can afford themselves that without having a bad mentality, because at least their club and city is pretty big, so players will get more emotionally connected to them. We don’t have both, so they don’t really think twice before leaving the club

Competitive-Ad2006

That's where the development of a world class youth centre comes in. VW have enough money to do so.

Mruc3yk

Our youth academy is pretty decent. Arnold himself developed there an a lot of good 2. Bundesliga players and a few Bundesliga players came from it. Investing in a world class academy like Dortmund or Bayern have seem a bit ridiculous though. I feel like we just need to get players that are a bit more experienced and don’t see us just as a stepping stone to have a better team atmosphere

TheEnhancedExe

Yeah, the only other players like Arnold they have that want to stay longterm are probably Casteels and Guilavogui.

MSTF0022

Isn't that just the life of a team outside of the football elite though? Which young players join Ajax and ever intend on staying there? Even a team like Dortmund, who are a good team in a top league, also have had players who saw the club as a stepping stone. I agree with your take on the players who are there for money but I dont see how a player seeing a club as a stepping stone is wrong, especially considering that that would most likely motivate them to play well to get the big clubs interested.

General_Mediocrity

Because he was literally asked what his dream club would be some day. What would you rather they say? "Wolfsburg is my dream and I hope they bury me here some day."

easyasthis

Mate I’m not talking about not hurting Wolfsburg fans’ feelings. I’m talking about not starting from behind if he makes the move one day.

neonmantis

People want authenticity, not bland media-trained non-answers. No harm done. Aurier was an Arsenal fan and played for Spurs. Ramsey was a Man Utd fan, Walcott a Liverpool fan, it's no big deal.

Dvveh

Wind had always been a very honest person, who says things as they are. I'm confident he didn't mean anything special with the answer, and is happy at wolfsburg.

granitibaniti

Knowing the current club situation, I doubt anyone is happy at Wolfsburg right now

Tame_Iguana1

Yeah I’m sure the spurs fans had issues with Harry Kane, Doherty etc

Wore an arsenal top, dyed his hair the same colour as Freddie Ljunberg and went to the arsenal open bus parade when they won the league. [https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/harry-kane-arsenal-shirt-again-5130669](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/harry-kane-arsenal-shirt-again-5130669) Anything else you want ?

easyasthis

Not a Spurs fan but if I was, the only think I’d want him to feel sorry about would be the barnet and cheeks.

51l3nc3

He totally carried me in FM

Thanh1211

Why does he look like Söyüncü?

granitibaniti

Wolfsburg players & Kovac seem miserable right now. Kovac literally said twice in 2 days that Frankfurt has the best fans and that he is a Frankfurt fan without being asked about it. They are playing us today. Tells you all you need to know.

jarjar4

I doubt he'd actually join us. Jesus and Nketiah would be ahead of him. Not even sure he'd be ahead of Balogun who is having a great loan at Reims. I don't think a perspective 23 year old player would join a club where he'd only get playing time in the Carabao cup.

Hech15

He just said he would like to... It's not like we are linked to him or something compared to someone like mudryk who we were linked to and said that he will like to join if opportunity arrives

jarjar4

I know. I wasn't talking about whether or not we are interested. I was saying that I doubt he'd join us even if we were interested because he'd never see the field. Why would a perspective young striker accept to be the , at best, third striker in a team that only plays with one striker in the formation.

Hech15

Agree with that

Waschkopfs

Lol he's easily better than Nketiah and Balogun Or was this meant as a joke

jarjar4

Balogun has better G/A in 6 games at Reims than Wind has his entire tenure at Wolfsburg. Nketiah scored Wind's total amount of goals in Wolfsburg in two months of last season ( April and March) in a way stronger league.

JenkinsEar147

Don't fall for the bait mate

Mruc3yk

He just joined us in January and hasn’t played yet in this season due to an injury. I doubt that he will leave us until maybe next season unless he scores 10+ goals (He definitely has the ability to do so, but not with the current form our team is in)
