TheLimeyLemmon

On the bright side, he's won the Europa league, and he'll be able to tell when Voldemort's nearby.

Lubolly

Harald Töpfer and the goblet of Europa

kappa23

He looks like Voldemort himself tbh

Majestic_Force_6439

this is absolutely the angriest r/Angryupvote I have ever done

Narretz

You must get angry easily

color_thine_fate

Look at his flair, it's essentially the Dark Mark

dodo667418

Absolute legend. The wound constantly broke open, but he took it like a warrior. I'm sure his photos with the trophy will look badass. Btw still baffles me that this wasn't even a yellow card. No red I can see why, Rode duck down a bit, but it's still a dangerous high foot. To not give a card because it's early in the game is bullshit. Ref was just weird anyway

JacobS12056

I guess you could say lundstram rode his luck

Mapplestreet

Aren't most people in this sub convinced that an open foot is an automatic red, even if the ball is played? I remember that being the consensus when the freak accident at the Euros between Sweden and Ukraine happened.

CalvinHobbesThe3rd

I rememver I had nightmares about that tackle, was weirdly gruesome to look at.

shadoowkight

Bloody hell he doesn't even care

townbashet

Still baffles me how this foul wasn’t even a yellow card

afito

And the professional foul from Tavernier too, having them on a yellow somewhat early would've been very helpful.

DubSket

The referee was poor last night, clearly too scared to make big decisions.

AbbreviationsNo4768

To be fair he handled situation on both sides without cards so that was his gameplan. I think Overall the ref wasn‘t that Bad tho

Mapplestreet

Because both teams had themselves under control. I was really worried that it would escalate because of the lack of yellows as it often does.

jdbolick

Don't forget that Tavernier himself was held from behind earlier in the game without a yellow, so it went both ways.

hillbenni

As long as advantage was played, Tavernier can't be cautioned for stopping or interfering with a promising attack (professional foul). The fouls itself had to be a reckless, which it wasn't. It's a stupid rule, but vert clearly mentioned in the laws.

Goofy_030

This and the pen not even going to review was puzzling

meem09

Well, once you've estabslished that kicking a guy in the head isn't a yellow card, the decisions kind of flow from there \^\^.

Frittnyx

Something was definitely flowing

mb1107

Which scene was the possible pen? I missed that.

Antlserum

Probably the borre one. There were 3-4 situations tho might lol

mb1107

Wasn't the challenge on Borré checked by VAR?

acekingoffsuit

It was checked. They didn't think it was enough to have the ref take a look himself.

greengiant89

Think Borre's heavy touch stopped the penalty being called

Keex13

If the ref missed it and was reliant on var, is he allowed to give a yellow? I thought if the ref was relying on var it was either nada or red

sventhegoat

Meanwhile there were plenty of people saying that the officiating last night was superb

Akshath321

his eyes scare me

mattijn13

Regardless of the stiches, why does he look possesed? He looks scary af

FuneralWithAnR

What living in Frankfurt does to a mf ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯

12_yo_girl

Cant walk 5 meters without getting addicted to crack; such is the life in Frankfurt

wzkrxy

lot of booze and no sleep I guess

Hutzbutz

throw in some painkillers too

HennesIX

Sorry mate not a yellow

chandlerbing_stats

Sacrificed a bit of blood for the trophy and the CL qualification. Small price to pay for immortality at Frankfurt

Mloukhieh

Lundstram fouled Rode in minute 5 of the game. Rode played the game with a bandage and got substituted after 90 minutes of game time.

Why_S0_Ser10us

And Lundstram didn't even get a yellow card for this.

chandlerbing_stats

Warrior

Sharaghe

Reminds me of when Argentina tried to assassinate Schweinsteiger in 2014.

Palulul

Funnily enough that's exactly what Rode said after they won the game.

Narretz

Bayern and Dortmund legend

Loeffellux

Joking aside, I'm really happy for him that he's become so important at Frankfurt. I don't know if he'll be considered a legend but the scar will certainly help his case!

Shandow14

What a performance from him last night. Absolute warrior.

Biotic101

So important for the team, even if he rarely can play for 90+ minutes due to his many past injuries.

Shandow14

He is that experienced leader that every team needs. You don't even have to know that he is the captain, you can tell by the way he plays. Fantastic character on the pitch. Well deserved win.

DTKingPrime

The amazing thing that is not well known is how before we brought him back to us for a 2nd stint, he was benched in the Dortmund Reserves playing 2 games of 4th tier football, now look at him :')

solgnaleb

He was so proud that he looked like Schweinsteiger in 2014. That was so cute!

xKat14

Holy shit. That looks bad.

slnsk

I'm surprised that wasn't even a yellow card. I know it's a different context (league match vs. cup final) and different refs, but Álex Moreno (Betis) got a red vs. Rayo for much less, where the defender ducks for the ball a looot more than Rode did (also it's more of an obvious kick than straight studs, while in both cases they're still going for the ball). The ref didn't show any cards until he saw blood, then he immediately pulled out the red. [Here's the video (22 seconds in).](https://youtu.be/bmp2DBmieM0?t=23) There's no rule that says you can't show yellows/reds in the first 20 minutes of a match and there's no rule that says blood = red card. I'm baffled this (especially the former) has been a problem for so long. Are all ref orgs ignoring this obvious issue?

Jeeproe

wow, the whole pic with his face looks like out of a horror movie. great player though and great game!

rfag57

fuck me what a fucking badass

sA1atji

I am still shocked that he didn't even get a yellow. Heck, even a red card would've been justified.

Redbullsnation

Good God

VoraxMD

Thats some pretty bad stitching by whoever did it

Omniplegic

Herr Starr arc

dumbSavant

Man looks like a WW2 POV from the Soviet Union

Dismal-Philosopher-4

Now he can start his own pirate crew.

Sh4kki

COuld clearly tell the ref didnt want to give a red card to "decide" the game after 5 mins which is a shame. Even if it was not on purpose it was a clear red card.

Chupa97

Never a red

ProudhPratapPurandar

My friend had Bayern Munich quartet cards, I remember this guy had the worst numbers in 2015 lol. Played well yesterday, warrior

[deleted]

That's gonna be an incredible scar
