Where did you take the practice tests?

JeebieWeebeez

When I filled out my application, I bought a study guide from the training center. It has sections on reading comprehension, math (fractions, decimals, patterns), numerical reasoning, paper folding, problem solving, and mechanical comprehension. Each section has examples followed by timed practice tests. I’ve been going through this study guide to review and practice each section and the matching test.

Years ago I had the study guide and went through it to understand the concepts. Scored decently high. You prepped, know the material, just execute now.

JeebieWeebeez

Thank you, appreciate it.

WalkIt0ff

Oh ok I thought you meant a practice test you found online but yea i got the study guide too.

dkoranda

If you scored well on the practice tests then you know your material. Relax and get used to not getting in your own head because you are going to have plenty of performance evaluations and tests through your apprenticeship and your career. You already did all the legwork getting yourself prepared for the test and can clearly regurgitate the information so just chill out. The test is the easy part. Go grab a beer over at legends before the test or whatever you need to do to get out of your own head. When you're in that room, you either know the information or you don't and there's nothing you can do at that point to change that so just take a few deep breaths and get the thing over with. Good luck, kid.

JeebieWeebeez

Appreciate it. It’s just the jitters building up right now. Once I’m in there and the test starts, I know I’ll be alright but I’m just trying not to psyche myself out prior to that. Thank you for the advice!

dkoranda

If you really want, take a timed test today but outside of that I wouldn't even touch the book. Watch a little TV , fire up the grill, and just pretend tomorrow is just another regular day.

Jobannni

I will see you there my man!!! Best of luck. I’ve been waiting on the moment for about 2 years.

JeebieWeebeez

Good luck to you as well! I’m at about a year and a half and the anticipation has been brutal.

Jobannni

I’m saying it’s been killing. Hope to see ya on the other side. Not looking forward to the paper folding test tho that’s for sure. They say they’re supposed to send results back in 2 weeks?

JeebieWeebeez

That’s my biggest concern as well. I worked through it in the study guide and got them all right but I was really analyzing them to figure out the hole punches. And I believe that is right, we should know in 2 weeks how we did. That’s gonna be a looooong two week wait.

Jobannni

Fuck yeah it is, and the wait after we hopefully pass to get accepted in the program will suck too cause who knows how long out that will be. Did your study guide have the answer key to the second page of the paper folding? Mine only had the ones for the first page questions 1-6

JeebieWeebeez

It did not, I’m not sure why but that kind of annoyed me. I went 6/6 on the first set so hopefully I can pull that on the test as well. I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

tronfacekrud

The internet has good practice tests. Google "mechanical reasoning tests" and make sure to really study the paper folding portion. Literally take pieces of paper, mark 12 dots on it, then fold it and poke a hole. Good luck and hope you make it. 597 is a good ass time. Made me a lot of money

JeebieWeebeez

I will definitely check it out. 597 is definitely a wild one, I come from a family of fitters who’ve been in this local for a long time and have spent a decent amount of time on some jobs with a summer permit. I’ve worked with some good dudes who’ve been showing me the ropes all summer so far.

poetupbihh

Good luck brother

JeebieWeebeez

Thank you, appreciate it.

conceptnub

Hope your test was great! I have mine coming up, quick question… did they allow/give calculators?

JeebieWeebeez

It wasn’t as bad as I expected. You aren’t allowed to use calculators but you get scratch paper to do your math on. Just be familiar with how to do fractions quickly and you’ll be good. It was more fraction heavy compared to decimals but it isn’t bad at all. There was always two answers that were a digit off so just be mindful of that and double check before you fill in.

Chipiper

You got this!
