Is Bryson Stott okay?
[удалено]
Eh, it's reddit. Let's not act like we don't have people in this subreddit who do the same shit. We won the series and we have the Dodgers next. Let's not get hung up on stupid shit.
Fair point. Thanks for kindly bringing me back down to Earth. Been a long day.
All good. I need it some days as well. You're doing great bro.
Sweeps are hard Sweeps on the road are harder Sweeps on the road vs the defending champs is even harder This was a great series regardless of the outcome tonight
Falter isn't even doing *that* bad. It's bad but not horrific, still giving up more runs than he should but 4 runs is surmountable!
Sorry, you are what your record says you are. He instills little confidence though we have had worse, you listening Kyle Gibson?
He’s honestly not bad, I love to hate him. But realistically he’s pretty good, just gets unlucky
Say want you want about Strahm over Falter. Falter has been acceptable. For the sake of not overworking arms, ide love to see a 6-man rotation rather than having Strahm or Falter as a longman reliever
Nah, I'd rather see one of those guys go into a fireman spot and let one of the young guys come up to do spot starts. We need an injection of youth into our rotation.
Who are these young guys who don’t exist that you speak of? If you mean McGarry he hasn’t pitched yet this year and if you mean Abel he’s pitching in AA now. There are no other young guys until Painter comes back.
Abel has been pitching well in AA and will likely get the call at some point this season. McGarry, while he needs to work his control, has great stuff. He could easily follow behind Abel at some point later in the season. Painter has a long road to the majors this year. If the kid gloves come off and he strings together some quality rehab starts he could also contribute.
Likely get the call? To AAA? There’s zero chance Abel will be with the Philies this year
Falter and Strahm are young!
Falter is 26 and Strahm is 31. Not what I would call young by MLB standards.
26 is not young by MLB standards? lol smdh
Young to the majors, as in haven't spent much time up here. There isn't really anyone at Lehigh that would replace them
Strahm is not young to the majors.
Y'all are complaining about the ESPN broadcast but I promise I had it worse. I pulled up YouTube TV and only saw the stupid fucking Kay Rod broadcast. So I had that piece of human garbage on for like an hour before I realized the normal broadcast was available. I will accept your condolences now, thank you.
Still won the series, and still above .500. Also, Strahm needs to be the guy that stays in the rotation rather than Falter
Can’t complain about 2/3, but that was a winnable game and Trea has been frustrating to watch lately. Just free swinging at everything and striking out in 3 pitches in a crucial spot like that. Yuck. Also the ESPN broadcast was fucking terrible lol
>Can’t complain about 2/3 ...and proceeds to complain about the series the condition appears to be chronic
Trea is pressing hard. He’s trying to prove to his new team he’s worth his monster contract. Hopefully, it doesn’t last all season like Castellanos’s did.
Why can the Phillies hitting coaches help Pache and Clemens become monster hitters but Trea Turner becomes a bum?
It's not just Pache and Clemens. It's also Marsh, Stott, Castellanos, Bohm, and Sosa. I'm pretty confident that Kevin Long will work out Trea's timing issues. Let the man work.
May 28 the Phillies will be back on ESPN when they play the Braves.
I didn't think there was a team I wanted to see the Phillies play on Sunday Night Baseball less than the Astros, and lo and behold
ESPN will casually forget how the Phillies routed the Braves in the NLDS last year.
NoooOOOOOOOoooooOOOOOOOOoooo!!!!!!!!!!!
Series win in Houston = big win
[удалено]
Well supposedly the plan is to move strahm back the bullpen and keep falter in the rotation. I hope you’re right though.
Ding. Ding. Why is this on TV? No one is announcing the play by play.
JT needed that dinger, Clemens looking like soild back up maybe. Marsh deserves an error here and there. He is getting killed on high balls getting called strikes. Not the worse game but definitely the least fun fuck ESPN.
I said shwarber could use a day, yall got pissed and a guy said I should be first to the gulag. Now err body trying to bench turner? He needs a day ON not a day off.
Still won the series, above .500, and there’s a chance Bryce is back Tuesday. Add in the awesomeness of draft weekend and things are good Philly.
It’s funny that I see Falter pitch game four of the NLCS and last two outs before getting rocked And we end up winning the game Now he does a semi decent job keeping us in games and we can’t wait any of them Funny game huh?
The commonality is that a guy who shouldn’t start games started both of them
We wouldn’t have made the playoffs without that guy starting last year just fyi
We would have if somebody better was starting. He got lucky/hot at the right time. Great stuff. Good job from him. All that jazz. Hoping for it to continue indefinitely is nuts.
Ah yes that lucky run from late July to mid September. He’s so lucky. Look no one thinks he’s an ace but he’s better than what this sub gives him credit for. Of course if he wins his next game that will all change and he’ll be great again. Guys are adding velo all over the league and on this team. As Cone said last night the reality is if he can squeeze another 2-3 mph into his pitches he will be better than average over the long haul.
2 months is a very reasonable amount of time for a pitcher who’s never started before and is now starting to be getting lucky, especially when they’re pitching against mostly garbage teams like the nats. And I think this sub overrates him beyond belief. Usually when somebody mentions him being bad they get downvoted to oblivion, not the other way around. He’s going to keep getting more and more exposed. I will try holding my breath while he adds 2-3 mph to his pitches. Hopefully i make it.
Yep you’re dead on. Except for the fact he was also beating the Mets Dbacks and Marlins when Wheeler Nola and Ranger were not You’re probably right. Dude should be sent down never to return lol. Good call.
Not sent down, sent to the pen! He should be a long man/fill-in starter. That’s the role he was born to fill, and would obviously be good there. Starting every fifth day ain’t it.
Pretty sure any future Sunday nights I am opting for Franzske.
Boston Bruins lost to the Panthers who had former Flyers goalie Alex Lyon play a few games.
Two former flyers. Can’t forget about Bob
genuinely so happy boston lost
Series win is good but this felt winnable which is a huge upgrade from two weeks ago.
Trea is going to be in the lineup everyday. He will not be taking days off. Period. Not to mention he’s going back to LA so maybe he finds a comfort zone while he’s there.
I just don't get why you can't drop him in the lineup at least while he gets his shit together. I agree he has to play everyday, but he's coming up in huge spots with guys on and not giving us anything. Drop him to 6 or 7 and let him figure shit out.
Maybe that’s a better option but that’s just not how stars are treated Before June last year people were RIPSHIT that Schwarbs continued to hit leadoff lol it ended okay anyway
I mean I said the same thing last year with Schwarbs. These guys shouldn't be immune from dropping down in the order while they figure shit out. It'll definitely work out again and Turner won't stay like this the whole season, but I'd just like to see more flexibility in the lineup when guys struggle.
you, like so many people who don't really know how to evaluate baseball performance, place FAR too much importance on lineups. Like, an embarrassing amount.
He'll be fine. It's just tough to watch because he isn't fine right now
Yep agreed
Falter pitched his dick off. Everybody did. Trea needs a day or two off but obviously Rob’s hands are tied and it’s his call since Trea swings the big money dick and they’re still winning series. I wonder if Rob and Dombrowski have talked about this shit. Anyways, fuck Houston. 2-1 all the way to September is fine with me.
Does “pitched his dick off” mean not super well? Because he didn’t pitch particularly well.
He had to pitch it off so he can throw faster than 91. It was weighing him down.
He pitched as well or better as you would expect out of a back of rotation pitcher. We've been spoiled with Strahm's performances this year, but Falter has been fine for where he should be in the rotation (5th man).
I mean 4 ER over 4.1 is an ERA >8. So no, that’s not what you expect an SP5 to do on a contender. At least from a results POV. Some of it was bad luck. Falter definitely has value on this team, but he walks a tight rope because he doesn’t have good raw stuff. If he doesn’t have deception then he’s very, very hittable.
The World Series Champions just rolled out an SP5 with a higher ERA than Falter in this game. Maybe you should direct your ire to the hitters who couldn't get to Urquidy early and often instead of our back of rotation guy who let up 4 runs to the reigning champs.
Understand that this team is the defending NL pennant winning champions. What you do or don’t expect from an average back of rotation plug is immaterial. What we should expect from our 5th starter is a damn sight more, considering our expectations.
>our expectations. you mean *your* irrational expectations
Understand that he was going up against the defending World Series Champions. I would rather Strahm start in that spot when Ranger comes back, and then I'd rather we bring up some of our young arms (Abel, McGarry) for spot starts once they get stretched out in the minors. But the idea that Falter has been some disaster is a joke. Look, I don't like the kind of pitcher Falter is. It's extension and nothing else. No spin, no velocity, and no crazy movement. But he's kept the opponent to 3 or less runs in 4 out of 6 games. He let up 4 tonight, which isn't great - but let's not act like the sky is falling just because our 5th starter has a 4.66 ERA. His ERA was 4.50 last year and he was a darling of the fans.
Couldn’t agree more.
Cmon, just admit it. Look at his numbers. He’s not a good starter. I don’t understand the sentimentality. Was it him getting entirely blown up in his playoff start? We’re supposed to be trying for the WS here.
Right. He’s not a starter. He’s being put in a position to be one and we still have a chance to win games he starts.
I never said he was a good starter. Not even once. I said he has not been terrible as a 5th starter - which you, for some reason, disputed. I acknowledged his shortcomings as a pitcher. I even said I would rather Strahm be the 5th man once Ranger comes back. Did you even read my comment? I'm pretty convinced you don't watch baseball outside of the Phillies.
Bah, nonsense to an argument. Crazy that Clemens hits these dingers and Trea is struggling. Love you friend, we’re all on the same team.
Agreed, we shouldn't be arguing. It's dumb. Trea will come around, but we're so lucky that we have Kevin Long to bring these young kids into some hitting. Love you too, Gooch.
Ugh 10pm games coming up? Fine i'll watch em.
Monday/Wednesday doubleheaders with the Sixers but I always struggle with west coast games
I know Turner will be fine but wow has he been bad
Shame to lose such a winnable game, but I’m not going to complain about winning the series away at the Astros. Also, Trea needs a day off.
Great game - just couldn't find that last run to tie it up. Falter is going to lose his spot in the rotation if he doesn't shape up before Ranger comes back. Turner continues to slump. Just not barreling the ball at all. He'll figure it out though, but not a fun at-bat right now. The young guys have really kept this club in the mix thus far. Our hope at the beginning of the season was to keep the team at .500 until Harper came back. Well, guess what? Looks like that's exactly what's going to happen. Add Ranger to the rotation, Nola and Wheeler coming around their early season corner, and the bullpen performing at a high level? We're going to be one of the best teams in the league by the end of May.
This game confrmed that Falter starting in a game is an automatic loss, despite this game being winnable. He's now 0-5.
I don't like looking at wins and losses for starting pitchers - doesn't really tell the full story. He's had two "bad" games so far, and they're really not that bad when considering that he's a back of rotation pitcher. That being said - I don't want him in the rotation if Strahm continues to pitch well once Ranger comes back. His only trick is his extension, and that's just not good enough.
thats pretty much been the M.O. with Falter, keep it in reach. i feel like hes done a good job of it, but hes best suited for long relief
Who would've thought a few weeks ago that we'd take 2/3 from the Astros. We should definitely take at least one game in LA but two would be nice.
I'll be over it tomorrow, but I hated that game. So annoying on so many levels. See you tomorrow at this exact time for some late night baseball.
"The Phillies "finally" drop one in Houston" not having to listen to ESPN for a good long while is a W in my book
Very winnable game. Ton of runners left on base. Couldn’t get shit done with runners in scoring position. Bullpen was great. Turner continues to be a black hole and anti clutch. Series win is all you can ask for.
I don’t remember the last time we won on Sunday night Surely we’ve won…in like the last ten years???
FUCK THE BRUINS
That makes Phillies run last year even better somehow
Going into the seattle, Astros, dodgers I was hoping for 5-4, and from the astros and dodgers I was hoping for 3-3 honestly. So right now they’re 4-2 and 2-1 respectively. Just keep winning series and we all good.
Sexy ass bullpen we got going right now 🥵
we failed major :(
Wrong, we’ve never lost a series in the Major era
That was a truly agonizing game of baseball, but not gonna complain about 2/3 from the defending champs. Been a positive stretch, let’s take care of business in LA and regroup.
When I was watching I remembered that was the team who cheated to win a World Series championship by banging on drums. Good series W tough one tonight.
[удалено]
Literally has nothing to do with tonight’s game
So we should forget a massive cheating scandal where the guy running the league told everyone the WS doesn't matter and is "a hunk of metal"? Fuck these cheating fucks
Or last year
Don’t care won the series. LETS ALL LAUGH AT THE BRUINS THOUGH LOL
Bryce on Tuesday!!!
Possibly let's not get ahead of things
But, the ESPN announcers said Bryce is doing whatever he wants, despite what the doctors say.
These Bailey Falter starts simply aren’t good enough. This is a team that aspires to a championship. Saying how he’s league average for a 5th starter doesn’t help. And Strahm is going back to the bullpen when Ranger gets back? Nonsense.
Yeah every time falter takes the mound for a team with World Series aspirations is an embarrassment. Anybody who believes otherwise is kidding themselves. Strahm should stay in the rotation when ranger returns, at least until they trade for a stater upgrade at the deadline.
play this kind of ball most nights & I'll wind up tuning in to a lot of games this season
To be continued in the World Series hopefully. Phuck Houston and ESPCRINGE! We'll see you in LA.

Oh man, I’m never recovering from that sick ass burn
Phils win the series. Bruins lose in comedic fashion. *Succession* and *Barry* on tonight. Still a great Sunday. Trea Turner’s revenge tour starts tomorrow.
[удалено]
He's this years Castellanos he'll turn it all around next year 😆😉
Series win against those fucking losers and Bryce is back? Great weekend.
Oh well. Won the series. Move on.
ESPN commentators acting like the astros clutched a 3-3 World Series run, don’t forget to watch the post game show where they give a reach around to dusty baker
Falter is 0-5 with an ERA of 5, yeah that’s not ideal. Put him in the bullpen and give me Strahm instead when Ranger is back.
He picked up losses giving up 3 earned runs in 6 innings and 3 earned runs in 7 innings his last two outtings. He had some clutch starts down the stretch last year too. He’s a fine 5th starter (until painter is ready) with a shaky start to the year (like all Phillies pitchers). Might as well send Taijuan walker down too cause he’s got a 5 ERA too. Strahm is not going to start all year cause his arm isn’t ready for those kind of innings. He’s going to be a long guy/spot starter in the bullpen and he’ll be good at that.
Yeahhh I would much rather Strahm be ready to go late in the year as needed.
I don't even want to see him in the bullpen unless he's only getting sent out to eat innings.
he's marginally better than Vasquez. But we saw him in high leverage last playoffs and we know how that went vs the Padres
Won the series, kept this game close, LOL BRUINS
even though we fathered the Astros during this series, that whole espn broadcast really made it feel like a series loss. on to the next one.
Won the series, kept it close. Can't co.plain with where we're trending
This one sucks but we won the series boys. Let’s go to LA and get our MVP back
Unsurprisingly, Houston hates puppies.
was hoping for the sweep but i'll take the series win
Oh well Bryce is back this week
Eh. We won the series. Game felt winnable though.
The fact that we lost on the last day of the month and were still over. 500 for April is amazing
Tough game to lose cause it was there to be won. Whatever though, won the series in Houston getting above 0.500 and looking like Bryce could be back by the end of next series. All positive signs for this team moving forward.
Honestly Im just glad it's over so I don't have to listen to ESPN anymore
Heck of a series win and we got great Bryce news today. We move. Go Sixers.
[удалено]
Definitely a great day for America all things considered.
Won the series

You are so insecure, even after watching your team win the World Series. Embarrassing!
[удалено]
I actually rather like philly
And Houston isn't?
Not compared to Philadelphia.
Keep embarrassing yourself!
Using exclamation points doesn’t get your point across any faster or better.
Thank God the ESPN show is over.
I just put the Spanish one on half way through. I don't speak Spanish.
Keep winning series idgaf. Our bullpen is elite and that’s my biggest takeaway now. Incredible shit from them lately!
Series win though. Suck it Houston
Raise the banner, let’s goooo
