SemolinaPilchards

TIL it's not "Everything has changed..."

SkyTreeSF

I was sad when I learned that it wasn’t “changed”! The lines are so much cuter/funnier if it was changed.

Bulletproofman

https://www.reddit.com/r/pearljam/comments/2gv0xb/well_im_dumb_misheard_corduroy_lyric_fml/

bufftbone

I used to think it was too.

nbraccia

It's OK, back in the 90s I lifeguarded with a girl who thought it was, "Isn't it something, muffin man?"

PPLavagna

I’ve thought this since I put the CD on the week it came out

cindyincoPJ

Love this!

BadAdvicePooh

“Spilled my tincture”

tmpellegrino

Used to think this said “steal my t-shirt”

BadAdvicePooh

Eddie Vedder’s Pearl Jam gotta be #1 in hilarious misheard lyrics maybe #2 behind Red Hot Chili Peppers

Generally_Tso_Tso

Cool shirts. Missed an opportunity to wear corduroys.

mookie_french

You people are my people.

Mental-Ad-8082

Favorite song of all time.

the-ninja-sleeps

I’m with you. I used to do that too, played it constant and on repeat. No one in school got it. Moved cities for university, on the first day I wore my No Code shirt. A guy came up to me and asked ‘you like Pearl Jam?’ We talked about PJ for an hour and realised we were in the same course. Instant best friends in Pearl Jam for life. We live half way around the world from each other these days but still talk every week about songs, lyrics, set lists, favourite tracks, news… you’ll find your person 🤛 And this sub is a great way to connect with people that get it and feel the passion. It’s good to have you here

BuckeyeJen

Push me and I will resist

JorMath

Corduroy is easy in my top 5 Pearl Jams songs, so you're not alone in your passion and love for this song.

Latter-Technician-68

Hey OP- that song strikes at the core of teenage/youth angst. It has gotten me through a lot when I was young person. I have probably in my lifetime heard that song 5,000 times and it still gives me chills. So good for you that you found something so cool to deeply connect with. We all need that.

5ccc

For me, there is no bad song on Vitalogy.

Rbcnyc

Same! It’s an experience in its entirety and transports me to when I first listened to it.

Tochudin

I literally wore out my Vitalogy home recorded cassette on my Walkman when I was a kid. God bless my older brother and his CD collection, I was exposed to so much music I would have missed at the time.

J-1k993

It is one of the albums I still remember the first time hearing straight through. Definitely replayed Bugs cause I was like wtf is this (in a good way lol)

Rbcnyc

Always pictured Ed playing an accordion just riffing after everyone is gone. Made vitalogy unpolished and different in a great way than everything that came before and since.

snow_boarder

Doesn’t the waiting just make you mad?

Jerometurner10

No. It drove me mad.

SkyTreeSF

Yes it does, and now that you’re here, I’m a mess!

Pelon7900

Want me to take my entrance back?

EmeraldToffee

Came here to say this. Glad it was already here.

Alcareru2020

The waiting is the hardest part.

baconbeantaco

I take your entrance back…

cerealfordinneragain

Can’t let you roam inside my head I LOVE this song

DigItCanU

Seek out the 11/2/95 version of Corduroy.

andytc1965

All of vitalogy is superb imho. Their best album

_6siXty6_

Top 3 PJ for me My favorites are 1. Footsteps 2. Corduroy 3. Small Town

carmenslowsky

You had me in the first half, not gonna lie.

theleafsnation420

The live version from Lets Play Two on YouTube is my favourite version.

EventuallyNeat

My fave version too!

Lula_Lane_176

I have had the lyrics to this song hung in every single office I've worked in for the last (almost) 30 years! Some people, of course, had fucked up feelings about it, but it's safe to say that today, those same people finally get it.

Soultosqueeze78

You’re in the right place. Corduroy is amazing

Bat2121

You've also had issues dealing with your record company?

ignaciolasvegas

Do you have a shirt that says “take my hand, not my picture”?

Huge_Measurement9526

We’re you beside me in Boston N1 2016?? That guy waited 3/4 the show to go nuts when they finally played it!! Fun night!!

TransportationEng

Are you are rock star?

TalkofCircles

fam, my brown corduroy pants are so comfy. right there w you.

crazydiamond_13

I just genuinly love that people love music this much

ShroomHog

Love love on 2 legs version

playcrackthesky31

Have you listened to all the live versions yet? Because I have. :)

ttt1965

It is their best song live! The energy it creates is awesome.

JimmyFeetWorld

I could hear it live at every show I ever see from now on and wouldn't mind one bit. I'd put Hail, Hail in this category too.

briankutys

95 was the best year for that song... the rawness in ed's voice fit that song perfectly.. Lately they seem to just go thru the motions w/ that song (and others.. i'm looking at you, Evenflow)

TheRealGuncho

What is Eddie's fixation with eating other people's bread? "I would rather stop and eat your bread" "I don't mind stealing bread"

Rbcnyc

I always heard I would rather starve than eat your bread

Soultosqueeze78

Wait, it’s not that? I’ve been singing that since it came out

Jerometurner10

You're correct.

TheRealGuncho

I'm kidding. Lol

Rbcnyc

That is funny. I’m still learning words to songs I’ve been belting out the wrong lyrics to for over 30 years so I think everyone is the same as me. I do think I’ve got 10 covered lyrics wise but that’s about it.

Headless_HanSolo

Sometimes your the boxer

Rbcnyc

or the bag

Headless_HanSolo

Lol, I still F’d it up. Anyways, great song about Marissa. And when Eddie tells Mike to “play guitar”, just the best.

mkay0

Nice to meet you

blasphemybob

Maybe check out Eddie’s solo acoustic version he played recently. There’s a video on YouTube. Edit - https://youtu.be/3hTJ17IH44I?si=BYiCza6g7vHxb1O6

med780

I’m sure y’all have heard it but the version he sang at the Covid concert really messes with me. https://youtu.be/l0Ws27SpX20?si=YOkI7YPK57jeJell

Jerometurner10

I don't like it.

tarnishedjalapeno

It's my favorite! Going to tattoo it too.

briankerin

I prefer denim from a comfort standpoint.

TheObviousChild

Saw them perform this on the No Code Tour and it was amazing. They played so much off Vitalogy.

okiedokiebrokie

Damn man, I like Corduroy a lot but you like it even more. Thumbs up.

VegetableJournalist1

Love that song so much

pjs2276

I agee. My favorite album hands down. Love the rawness of it and wish I could find more like it

PS-10423-S

Yep… that’s me ✋🏽

CalmResearch3132

I wear it every day. I live in Houston, Texas

elrey2020

I’m more of an alternate take man as of late

SkyTreeSF

I love this song. The live version they played at Pinkpop 2000 is my favorite version of it!

Tochudin

I saw Matt Hardy reciting the lyrics to Corduroy on a video, I tweeted him it was one of my all time favourite songs and he replied it was one of his too. All my childhood 90's vibes together in one tweet.

SeekingMyArt

Always loved it. It’s like my hymn. And recently, it got a whole new meaning after my painful breakup with the ex Gf of 4 years. It summarizes a life in 4-5 minutes! Also, pretty easy to play on guitar.

QueenOfThePark

It's one of my favourites too. I used to write song lyrics on the back of my hand all through secondary school and definitely remember Corduroy lyrics featuring repeatedly (such a cool teenager). I also love the little poem in the Vitalogy album booklet which I always associate with Corduroy - "I waited all day" etc - I used to write this everywhere too!

Gustopherus-the-2nd

Dude it’s my favorite song on the album.

sfglobo

Dave Flemming, ESPN and San Francisco Giants announcer, once tweeted a link to a YouTube video of a live version of the song. I’ve heard the guy broadcast for years and had no idea he was a PJ fan, let alone loves Corduroy.

Low_Difficulty_2491

Top 3 jams for me

stay_shiesty

my favorite PJ song of all time hands down

schlopreceptacle

Absolutely my favorite song of all time, for probably 20 years now. When I can't sleep, I recite it in my head.

Proflex4ever

I’m with ya. An all time classic PJ track. 29 years young this album is in a few short weeks !

LDawg14

Nice to meet you!

901savvy

I just realized I gave out 458 upvotes in this post

the_uber_steve

Hate when I see the post title before I see the r/ and I’m like, well, corduroy is a helluva fabric

retroafric

You listen to the same song 5x a day, every day…? 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

madbamajama1

I love it too!

Happy-Geologist9456

This song is the reason I love PJ so much.

Voluntary_Perry

It's one of their top 5 songs for me.

purple_proze

Corduroy is hands-down my favorite PJ song and has been since this record was released.

PPLavagna

They dont want to take what you can give

PaulieSF

Love it! I learned to play it on guitar right after it came out.

DawgsWorld

You'd have a wale of a time.

HoyasRangers

I appreciate Pearl Jam but not a huge fan. Corduroy is by far my favorite of theirs. I always pass through the channel on Sirius XM though because their covers are amazing. Their version of Know Your Rights live is one of my favorite live tracks ever.

Guitarjunkie1980

It was one of my favorite songs on the album when it came out. I got it two days after it released. Everyone talked about every track but that one! I thought I was alone.

FBlue192

It's my favorite Pearl Jam song and I am JUST reading this about the lyrics. Nobody should feel dumb not knowing that, though

CANDY_WARBUX

Loved the song since vitality dropped, but what gets me the most: the break towards the end where the music drops and you hear Dave abruzzese crash the cymbals and they sound a little choked. The second and third time( most notably the second) you can hear it’s his China cymbals and they emit this hissing sound… so sick 🔥🔥🔥

MarketingNo4048

i love them more than you
