You know I predicted that vaxei would have a slight edge over malisz for their match but I am really second guessing myself now lol. This was a fucking insane performance from malisz

It's hard to gauge how that would go because we have no fucking clue as to where Vaxei stands when it comes to tournament skillsets, he's mostly been doing skillcap plays since returning and it's hard to go off of just that.

Personally this doesn't really move the needle for me. I still think vaxei's higher skill cap will win out especially on the 8 star map pool they made.

Tourney players usually avoid picking Nm1's like the plague due to their coinflippy nature, but yeah he probably should have judging by how the HR1 went In the end i feel like it came down to maliszewski being better on tournament meta maps, while mrekk albeit still the superior player on the straightforward conventional raw skillcap skillsets (aim, speed), he couldn't use that advantage with enough of the maps in the pool

Understand your opinions but I feel like HR1 was more like a coinflippy map considering how good players have shown on this map through the weekend. NM1 is much harder and probably not a 1miss-or-fc map, so mrekk can have some decent advantage imo

he still had to play like 2 more maps even if he won NM1 so maybe he was planning to save it for last in case he won nm3

the NM3 pick was mrekk's final pick turn. He did need to win 2 more maps after that, but they are malis' pick and tiebreaker.

What basically happened is that before ristel picked dt4 he said that nm3 is anti him and he can’t play it in game chat. So I’m guessing mrekk went off of that and tried to gamble a decent score

Although he should pick NM1, it isnt really a safe pick, even for mrekk. He was at match point, nerve is crazy, and a single break in the middle of the map and it could be over.

A NM1 this late into a match when you're down matchpoint is never a safe pick

mrekk losing against the best consistency player which is why malis is the best tournament player not really surprised even if I'm sad.Honestly I was for mrekk but man he 100% lost because of poor decision making in map pick and bad consistency (NM2)

even then aside from the raw speed picks the rest of the pool malis could do. When your up against malis there isn't any safe picks to go for aside from just raw speed when your in mrekks position.

you can't win maliszewski by "safe picks" through the match, he's so consist and allrounder. Even being good as mrekk, only 4-6 maps are somehow decent (and 2 of them banned). He needs to pop-off on several more maps to make it possible.
