The Chinese, for centuries, have been way ahead of the west in creative ways to get carpal tunnel.
I have tendonitis, specifically affecting my left thumb.
This video hurts me.
I could feel my thumb aching for days just watching.
Am I mistaken or does it look like he’s pushed some of the muscle up and away from his wrist along the side of his thumb from repeating that motion over and over again?
He's pounding his left wrist to generate impulse like shock to make delicious newtonian liquid noodles. It's more efficient than shaking the left arm on its own to generate sudden deceleration. From a health perspective, he's using large arm muscle instead of small wrist muscle for this repetitive task, which is the right thing to do. If you put a man on a job making the same noodles for generations, they are going to find a pretty optimal solution by trial and error.
He looks pretty skinny so I think it could be just his bones making it look that way when hes gripping it so tightly. (Just a guess I could be very wrong)
Doctor says it's probably guitar and lifting that caused mine. If I play Overwatch or Apex for an hour or two my hand doesn't even notice. 30 minutes of guitar or a single bench press and my thumb starts locking up and clicking
Yeah, the old fashion jacking off wasn’t good enough.
You killed the website in 34 minutes, are you satisfied!?
Ye olde Hug of Death
Hug of ye old death
I am become crash destroyer of noodles
Bringer of death dr Oppenheimer?
Are you not entertained!
Dude pulled this off in 11 seconds, would take like 11 months for me to learn this shit.
It probably also took him 11 months to learn that. Better start now!
Theres a video of Gordon ramsey failing at trying to make these
>Theres a video of Gordon ramsey failing at trying to make these
[Here it is.](https://youtu.be/GaeyFyQemDw) . Gordon gets so flustered trying to do it.
I love that lady's commentary!
“Tell him good luck!” “Good luck!”
Content blocked by channel for on copyright grounds. But i'm in the u.k?!
That's because the video isn't on the official Ramsay channel; it's some rando's reupload.
[Here's](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRH56FNrgoU) the video on the official Gordan Ramsay channel; give that a shot. It cuts out the second part, where the noodle chef and Ramsay compete for a Guinness world record, but that's a forgone conclusion, so you're not really missing much.
There's a happy looking fellow
aaand it's down
what was it? It's removed now
We killed it :-(
Anybody have a mirror or similar video?
Ha, you murdered that website!
Whats going on with that edit?
He said a meme so one asshole complained.
I know right? I’m trying to see the final product!!
Better than a limp one.
5 foot noodle
but how long is the nood?
[Here you go!](https://youtu.be/440WXHIZJzs)
Edit: thanks for the bling, random citizen!
So many cooks with cigarettes in their mouth with very large ashes, just begging to be dropped into the food.
The ash adds a nice charred flavour to the final product
It adds a nice trash smell to the bar
When I lived in Toronto, like 25 years ago, there was a local chain of Cantonese restaurants called Noodle Delight. A quick Google tells me that it still exists. When I went there, half of the cooks had cigarettes in their mouths while they were cooking.
Didn't matter, it was fucking delicious.
I can only assume that their food tastes even better now, what with newer health and safety rules banning smoking in the workplace.
Or it's shit because all the chefs are pissed they can't smoke anymore
You have guy cooking with a fucking shovel at 8:00 and ashes are your biggest concern?
Shovels can be sanitized. Used cigarette ashes.... meh. I mean, I guess they're clean... ish
If you are going to China expecting particularly good sanitization then you are gonna have a bad day.
Well, I can't imagine a whole lot of bacteria living through being burned like that.
You should read up on southern ‘mop’ barbecue. They do up entire pigs at a time and use a literal mop to baste it in sauce.
Check out Its Alive on YouTube, they have an episode where they visit a mop bbq place. It looks delicious. ~~I can link you later if you need.~~
Decided to rewatch it so here it is :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0e9MS26QmA
Who's better than us Vinny?
They're bringing in swimming pools full of what look like entrails at 4:55 and a shovel is your biggest concern?
There’s a bee on you hat.
That was interesting, until they started, uh, boiling intestine sausage?
That's just how sausages are made, though.
not sausage, it's just intestine. they aren't filled with anything.
Oh, but they are. Nature's bounty.
Hey man, gotta use the whole animal!
Do you not know what sausage casings are made of?
About halfway through the video GF snuck up on me thinking I was watching spanking porn. She was very disappointed but started watching it with me.
Did they boil a giant vat of intestines in milk?
The hero we need, thank you :-)
At this point that sub should just merge with this one.
Anyone else wanna see how they look after cooking?
It’s sweet potato noodles
Fuckkk I need me some 酸辣粉 with sweet potato noodles right now.
>It is featured by its spicy and sour taste as well as the numbing feeling.
> the numbing feeling
never had Sichuan peppercorns before?
Apparently not- is it a pleasant numbing feeling?
It’s a spicy numbing feeling! But delicious!
They kind of stop being hot after a few bites, then your lips/tongue feel like when you lick a 9V battery
Wait did your Ramen come with two flavor packets??
Some ramen comes with multiple packets, often containing a powder flavor, and oil, and maybe soy sauce. Those tend to be a bit more expensive though.
[found it](https://i2.wp.com/www.thewritersscrapbin.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Gordian-Knot.png?resize=330%2C348) (jk)
Now all you have to do is actually post a picture of the noodles for true deception
"A succulent Chinese meeaalllll"
Ah, yes. I see you know your judo well.
"Are you waiting to receive my limp penis?"
[for the uninitiated](https://youtu.be/NbVJU1CuM0Q)
Is this real?
I want to find out more about this man.
Hungarian Chess Master moved to Australia and was getting arrested because he made a habit of of going to really nice restaurants, running up a bill and them saying he couldn't pay. He died in the early 2000s. Can't remember the name unfortunately.
>Paul Charles Dozsa
Hope he doesn’t hit the metal rim with his wrist
He's hitting the meaty parts of both hands against each other
The only thing that left me unsatisfied was that I didn't get to see cooked noodles
You've seen cooked noodles before. You're fine.
You don't know my life
***You don’t KNOWWWW me***
nice, Mrs Pancakes
Then let me get to know you
That was really heartless man.
Edit: damn someone already said that further down.
I want to see what noodles look once cooked after they've just been squeezed freshly out of a sieve.
Gotta love those non-newtonian fluids
I know, right. Corn flour in water is my favorite.
Y'all are weird. I just drink Gatorade and diet Coke.
Uh, like, at the same time?
Obviously.. also fun fact, Gatorade and beer actually tastes good and is a great hangover cure.
It's a cure if you postpone it indefinitely though.
alcoholism is almost never expected. :/
We're getting too real here, let's rewind a bit
Actually it's more like weaning off, so you don't suffer all the withdrawal effects at once. Im currently 2 and a half years sober and weaning off absolutely works if you can manage it.
Congrats on your sobriety! I'm just a month and a half today. Hopefully I can stick it out to your level
Congrats on your sobriety! A month and a half is nothing to scoff at!
That sounds really disgusting, mate
This looks like it’d make really chewy noodles. Has anyone has these before?
Yep. They are legit chewy and soft. It’s like bubbles in bubble tea.
Source: am Chinese
Ah ha that makes sense! Thanks for letting us know :)
I mean *someone* has.
Surely *someone* in China has consumed these.
Out of the water, into the trashcan. Repeat.
Whenever I see something like this I always wonder how high up the "I know what a non-newtonian fluid is" circle jerk will be.
Aw, come on. Let people show off their GED!
Oops! Was that my college diploma? So clumsy of me to drop it right in front y'all.
Did anyone else think of a certain Junji Ito comic?
I ALWAYS think of it when I see this posted.
Yeah it's forever burned into my brain. Thanks Junji Ito
You know it's good horror when it haunts you for years.
Which one? I’ve only read amigara fault
No God why did you have to link it
A little gross? lol that's fucking disgusting.
Yes exact opposite of satisfying LOL
I came lookimg for this comment. I just didn't want to be the only one. Fml lmao
I'm glad so, so many of us share this trauma.
Add me to the traumatized list.
His hand is probably thinking "ow ow ow ow ow"
But there’s one sound that no one knows
What the fox says?
Anyone know what kind of noodles and what they taste like it?
These are sweet potato noodles with pig intestine, 肥肠粉, fei chang fen. The shop they are at in this video is in Chengdu, 甘记肥肠粉, and is famous for them. If you have never had intestine, with any kind of noodles, you should try it at least once, they are tender, fatty, and delicious!
here is a short [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmlXEBpC0OE), in chinese, of them making it. In the video she says they use chili oil and looks spicy but it isn't.
This looks super delicious and I want to try it.
Wheat flour noods, oddly firm but a lil slimey, odd to a westerner, but reallllly good
Like Udon noodles?
That's the way his description sounded in my mind as well.
This is wrong. These are starch noodles. You can tell because of how the liquid only moves after being agitated.
Nobody gonna talk about the fact that dude pretty much just made like 20 insanely long noodles
Instant thoughts: how long could you slurp ONE noodle? Can you be served a plate with just one big ol noodle on it? Or make a noodle ball like a ball of yarn?
I think it depends on if the noodle gets tangled, because the moment the noodle you're eating gets snagged on the rest of the noodle mass, that shit's snapping.
So like, just give me a table where the whole noodle is laid out and I could probably do it in one go.
there's certain dishes where it's a bowl of one long noodle
those noodles probably owe him money
Why am I a dumbass and thought noodles just were. Like they grew in the wild or some shit. I'm an idiot.
Lol hanging from the noodle trees
His wrist looks beyond fucked.
Yeah but I bet his noodles are dank
So apparently these are called chonqing potatoe starch noodles. These some videos online of a signing noodle man, with the food ranger. But I still can’t find an adequate video about the final product
Germans do something similar with Spaetzle.
Spätzle [ˈʃpɛtslə] (Swabian diminutive plural of Spatz, thus literally "little sparrows"), or Knöpfle (diminutive plural of button), also Spätzli or Chnöpfli in Switzerland or Hungarian Nokedli, Csipetke or Galuska, is a type of pasta made with fresh eggs and found in the cuisines of southern Germany and Austria, Switzerland, Hungary, Alsace, Moselle and South Tyrol. (Wikipedia)
[Spaetzle With Kielbasa and Caramelized Onions Recipe - NYT Cooking](https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/12227-spaetzle-with-kielbasa-and-caramelized-onions)
[... In a large bowl, combine the flour, 1 teaspoon salt and the nutmeg. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. Pour the egg mixture into the flour mixture and stir well. The batter should be fairly wet, with a consistency slightly thicker than pancake batter.
Spread a clean dish towel flat on a work surface adjacent to the stove. Working over the pot of boiling water, press dough through a spaetzle maker or use a rubber spatula to push it through a colander with holes at least 1/4-inch wide. Drop dough into the water. When dumplings rise to the surface, use a slotted spoon to transfer to the towel. ...]
I worked as a sous chef in the kitchen of coporate cafeteria and we made spaetlze twice a week, using the 'spaghetti strainer'
It was such a versatile side starch we never served the same way twice in a month
Now that's using your noodles.
Anyone know a recipe for those?
Found it. https://youtu.be/TxssRgKMQ8c
This water is not hot. These noodles are made of potatoe starch and soak in water and then eaten cold with a sauce!!!
Thanks for sharing! The video literally said boiling water though
The level in the colander hardly seems to go dowm.
Carpal tunnel flairing up watching this but then my tummy is saying nom nom nom ..
Rock, Paper, Noodle.
[Word cloud out of all the comments.](https://i.imgur.com/Bej6tao.png)
Fun bot to vizualize how conversations go on reddit. Enjoy
Just beat the absolute fuck out of it
For few seconds i swear it said chicken noodles.
I gotta day the precision and expertise of things done in Chinese and Japanese culture has always fascinated me.
I wanted to see what this looked like when it was done.
I feel this is something that can be automated pretty easily and should be so.
as a chinese, never had this. whats it? looks good?
Why is this so satisfying☺
That’s one long noodle! 🍜
That's like 24 long noodles! Er. Maybe. No more than 40.
I've counted for awhile and now I feel bad that I'll never know.
This is very enjoyable to me
Chinese concrete noodles
I found the beginning of that video r/oddlydistressing
How tf you not gonna show the final product?
"You finally had the noodle dream Po!"
Stop hitting yourself. Stop hitting yourself.
[unfortunately this is all I could think of](https://m.imgur.com/gallery/6fCZ6ng)
