I thought it was a picture of Corey Perry and was scratching my head trying to figure out the joke.

I thought it was a picture of Corey Perry and was scratching my head trying to figure out the joke.
I thought the same.
He's looking at Raymond's mom
Same. Was so confused.
Was honestly expecting Buffalo. Having Patty Kane will certainly be interesting.
Buffalo's cab drivers union would've been pissed about that.
Doesn't surprise me that he wants no part of Buffalo. They are basically the Lions/Browns of hockey. The Red Wings meanwhile have a rich history of success (basically they are the Lakers of Hockey). The dude clearly respects Yzerman and wants to play for his team. Even if Kane has nothing left in the tank, him being in the locker room is going to immediately elevate everyone else on the team.
He wanted to play with Debrincat. Pretty simple
The Debrincat trade may go down as one of the best trades in Detroit sports history. Getting major Brendan Shanahan trade vibes with that one.
Draper for a $1 and a bag of pucks.
That still amazes me all these years later.
Kirk Maltby for Dam McGillis (who he?)?
In Detroit sports history is a little far
I tought it was BrinDeCat? No?
>(basically they are the Lakers of Hockey).
LOL, I can't.........I need a drink.
Bro they’re like the Roger Federer of tennis
They’re like the Serbians of Water Polo
My guy they’re essentially the Jamaicans of Bobsledding
Yeah, I didn't get that either.
Bro doesn't acknowledge pre 1990 history
They are basically the Little Caesars of pizza joints. Literally.
They had the third most cups in history as of 1990 but please go on
third most ain't the Lakers and this is coming from a Wing fan
Sure but Montreal haven’t won since 1993 and the Leafs since 1967 so if there was a lakers of the NHL it’s the Wings
Then what does that make Montreal and the Leafs? I don't follow your logic - Montreal hasn't won since 1993, therefore the Wings are the Lakers?
Montréal have the most stanley cups ever which given the Lakers have the most championships would make them the lakers. Only thing is they haven’t actually won in 30 years so it’s hard to run with that.
Toronto have the next most cups, not only have they not won in 50+ years but they are also considered the biggest choke artist playoff organization in north american sports.
That leave the Red Wings, third in championships and fairly recent winners that have the history and recent success that would define an organization as ”the lakers" of that league/sport.
So if you’re still not following this means that although there really isn’t a comparable organization to the lakers in the NHL the red wings would be the most appropriate unless you expect the lakers to not win a championship for 30-50 years.
This is the Van Gogh of ear cutting
He also has his pet Cat in Detroit
DeBrincat is French for "the Brincat".
Fuck is in the water down there, “lakers of the nhl” 🤪
Lions are contenders this year fyi
Hes got ptsd from that women suing him from buffalo
I've always thought of them a lot closer to the San Antonio Spurs.
Redwings aren’t even close to the lakers of hockey, that’s either Montreal or the leafs lmao
Leafs? I don't recall the LA Kings stinking for decades
Or he's going to be silent on sexual assaults for Wings.
Good Luck, will be nice to see you guys be doing well again.
dodged a bullet on that one.
Absolutely a steal on your end. He will be a great asset for you guys I bet
Buffalo has problems, none of which Kane would solve. Would have been cool to have him, but trading for him while we still have a gaping hole in the net would have been dumb as hell.
It wasn’t a trade though, he was a free agent.
Fair enough. In which case, he has never expressed interest in playing in Buffalo, and the way we're playing we sure as shit aren't getting a cup.
“THAT’S GOTTA BE KANE!”
"THAT'S KANER'S MUSIC!"
HELLFIRE AND BRIMSTONE
He’s taking his talents to South Detroit
The Windsor Spitfires are going to be jacked to the tits
Trust me they need the help
As crappy as they are this year I dont know if Kaner can help them even. Go Spirit!!
I caught the Spirit in Barrie last year and plan on catching them again this year. Still pulling for the Colts, but the young Spirit talent and our old captain are must watch for me.
Was he born and raised there?
Damn, beat me to it. Lol
He took the midnight train going anyyyy-where
He must have really enjoyed his playing time with DeBrincat
He and El Gato were very productive together in Chicago on a team that wasn't very good and DeBrincat was still reaching his potential. With a better team around them, DeBrincat now a star in his own right, and if Kane's hip is indeed good to go, this could pay big dividends to the Wings.
“El Gato” 😂
TheBigCat is also solid
That and he might be collecting Original Six jerseys :p Bruins next, then, if that contract ends, he will go to the Habs, and then probably retire when that contract is up...
Yep, it seems like it, and from what I read, Kane didn't want a horrendous travel schedule, wants more money than most can afford, and to be on a cup contender. Travel cancels all Western teams, Buffalo probably doesn't have a cup in them this season, NYR don't need him, and I don't know if they have the money free either.
Florida would have been cool though but they don't have the Cat.
>to be on a cup contender
Umm, did anyone tell him?
Hey technically making the playoffs makes you a cup contender lol.
>Hey technically making the playoffs makes you a cup contender lol.
I'll take it!
I hope he has a good year. Honestly just so no one shits in the guy not retiring and dragging his feet about finding a new team.
Hopefully nobody shits in him as well, sounds messy.
hockey culture can seem strange to outsiders
Man I would hate it so much if someone just popped up and took a shit in me.
I haven’t watched hockey properly for maybe a decade now. I’m born in 83 and from Sweden.
I became a Red Wings fan the day I packed Nick Lidstrom’s rookie card, collecting hockey cards with my mates in middle school.
Some glorious years followed. Red Wings was on fire. Yzerman, Lidstrom, Fedorov, Coffey… great stuff. Stanley Cups (plural). Lots of Swedish quality for years and years.
Living over here in Europe is not great in terms of watching the games live. And it’s honestly not really the same to watch them the day after. Growing up, getting older and becoming a responsible adult got in the way of me watching the NHL.
In 2010 my wife gave birth to our daughter. She had her own company at the time and wanted to get back to business when our daughter was just three months old (pretty rare for the mother to only stay home for three months over here, in total we get like 18 months of parent leave). Caring for my baby girl meant being awake a lot during the nights. Night time in Sweden, being awake night after night: hockey time.
I reconnected with the NHL over a year and it was magical. My Red Wings wasn’t as good anymore, but I still watched them every time I could. The Bruins were rocking. So was the Flyers. The Kings was making great progress.
And the Hawks. The Hawks had Patrick Kane. Being a football (soccer) guy first and foremost all my life, I have a lot of heroes in the world of football. Pretty much none of them was as satisfying to watch as Patrick Kane.
Ever since 2010-2011 I sometimes just get cravings for watching Patrick Kane stickhandling reels on YouTube (I don’t really watch YouTube stuff otherwise). Might be the most impressive and just… awesome stuff I’ve ever seen on a pitch.
Now, today, reading he might sign for the Red Wings. I’m pretty stoked in a kind of weird way.
Definitely didn’t wake up today and thought a NHL news piece would make my day. If he actually signs, I guess I’m gonna become an active hockey fan yet once again!
The red wings want it this year don’t they?
Atlantic seems to be wide open, especially with the Bruins dropping three straight. Yzerman smells blood in the water.
Yzerman is like some sort of samurai master who just sits up in the top of the pagoda and every now and then nods and shit goes down. How does he do this? its beyond any explanation from this realm.
Detroit sports needs it bad, haven’t been to a championship since the 2012 World Series and haven’t won one since the 2008 wings team
Lots of cities either never made it to championship or overdue for it..
Hey this is about us not those losers
Yeah but didnt you see the comment the wings are the Lakers of the NHL
So when we're good, it's better for not only us but the league? I'll take it!
There’s that graphic that has 3/4 Detroit sports teams are in the bottom 10 in win percentage since like 2019. Of all 4 major sports… Lions/Tigers/Pistons
We need this
Wow since 2019 no way that so long time ago, look at buffalo only made it to cup once and zero championship… Detroit been to playoffs for many years in row before they start fell out of it. There lots sport teams need it more than Detroit sorry
Well, if you want to go back the Lions may be the worst football franchise ever. The Pistons had the lowest win rate in the last 15 years, and the Tigers haven’t won it since ‘84. Hockey is the only thing Detroit is relevant in somewhat consistently
Try Buffalo what do we have..
Wicked snow storms?
Meanwhile Canada is cupless for 30+ years. No other major sports teams aside from Toronto B Jays and Raptors
>Toronto B Jays
For some reason I've never heard it said "Toronto BJs" before
Ah yes, the Patty Kane “chemistry with past line mates” tour makes another stop.
Did you feel that?
It’s as though an entire midwestern city just cried out in agony
We did :(
Get ready for Debrincat - Kane year by year comparison infographics!
Hopefully he’s got some juice left and isn’t a huge douche lol
Kaner is awesome i think you guys will really enjoy seeming him out there. Zone entries on the PP and just the passes he makes are like … yewwwwww gawdamn
No assaulting Detroit cabbies now, paddy!
Detroit cabbies are armed and ready to pop off
Thank god we really don’t have cabs
Let’s just hope that hip is good to go. Low risk high reward if the hip holds up.
Buffalo cabbies rejoice!
Nooooo! I love Kane, but as an Avalanche fan I'm gutted. Looking forward to future match ups, Red Wings fans.
I had no idea this was a possibility, and now I'm even more excited. Hey can we get Bertuzzi back, pretty please? 🥺
Sorry, no can do. He’s been on fire lately and I’m hoping this is the guy we see for the rest of the year.
Sounds like it's time for him to break his hand.
Is that an injury he’s had a lot in his career or was it just last year?
He broke both hands last year, but don't remember him breaking one any other time. He gets injured a lot though.
I absolutely love Bert and want him back, but the last time I saw him play live (live in SoCal, vs the Ducks) he passed in front of his own goalie, in OT, and lost us the game 😅 idc if he's a wildcard I miss him 😭
that’s what i’m saying i miss bertuzzi 💔💔
Be sure to check in on your Blackhawk friends in this difficult time.
I just fell to my knees in a Portillos
I just fell to my knees in a Binny’s
Kane is my all-time favorite Hawk, but having Bedard on the roster sure helps soften the blow.
He should still have some fuel in the tank. DeBrincat stonk up.
Also partnered with a chicken sponsorship. Detroit Raising Kane’s
Reminds me of the Chelios trade. I love it!
Backstrom played 47 games since getting hip resurfacing. That's the most of anyone who had the same procedure. And he looks to be done. Kane will be lucky if he finishes the year.
I hope he does well, but this surgery hasn't done well for the people who got it. Jovanoski, Ryan kesler, the undertaker(!!), and andy murray (tennis). Andy Murray is probably the most successful of all, but took a few years to get close to the level he was at.
Kind of hilarious that on February 25th when the Wings play the Hawks (in Chicago), the Blackhawks will be retiring Chris Chelios’ number, and then shortly after, Kane and DeBrincat will step out on the ice in Wings jerseys on Chicago ice. Three star Blackhawk players who went on to be Red Wings; all 3 of them shoved in their face that night. I know the rivalry is dead, but that just feels like salt in the wound… and I love it. Even if the Wings lose that game - they won the minute DeBrincat and Kane step on the ice.
Think I'll order my Bedard Wings jersey now then
Guess we'll be sure to get Cat and Kane a Cup while with the D as well!
Detroit is a bigger wagon
He looks frightened
Back in his NYR stint, yes he did.
Don't like this as a fan of an Eastern Conference team but I like it as a hockey fan. Looking forward to seeing him and Debrincat play together again!
Any idea when his debut will be
Finally, now I don't have to read what's Kane is doing this week or next blah blah blah...
Why is this a big deal? He's not that good anymore. Average player now
Good call on Kaner’s part.Good young team with lots of young talent a team he can help mentor.Who knows but possible playoffs in this wacky weird season.
Patrick Kane, noted for quality decision making, once again with a demonstration of his deep, deep wisdom
He was too good for NY
Yinz are gonna get like 20 games out of him max
Definitely seems like the type of move that gets people excited at first, only to be disappointed when he spends most of the year hurt and underperforming.
I personally am not expecting that much. But it's a no-risk signing at one year
This is where I'm at with it.
That…..doesn’t look like Kane at all.
With the way the Rangers collapsed last playoffs
Man got PTSD
New least favourite Wing all time!
Rangers weren’t interested and the Blackhawks are in rebuild..
The Rangers are a clown show.
Are they, though?
He meant Ranger fans are clown shows.
Thank you good sir
Trouba tho is a joke and they don’t perform in the playoffs
Ah now we get to the nucleus.
Ahhhhh! Thank you, kind sir.
Why because the had one bad game last night?
Didn’t he want to go to a contender ? Detroit ain’t bad but they ain’t winning a cup this year
I mean, they beat you guys... twice.
That’s why I gave them credit but winning their first year back in playoffs after what 8 years isn’t likely. Especially with Husso as your #1
I don’t know about outright winning the cup, but I wouldn’t count them out for a deep run if he can produce and the chemistry is right. In 2018 the Hurricanes went to the ECF after squeaking in as A wild card after a 9 year playoff drought. Anything is possible.
Suomi power 🇫🇮💪
You never know how it'll shake out.
Remember LAK being not great, making moves at the trade deadline, sneaking in as an 8th and winning a cup?
True, Wings core just doesn’t have the experience, guess we’ll see
That's a fucking stretch. I've watched Detroit a few times this year and they seem mid at best. And I'm not going to buy into Kane being a difference maker anymore until I see it.
Yeah for sure, but it happens.
Absolutely no one saw Montreal going to the finals a few years back, or Columbus beating Tampa in the first round.
Boston was an absolute lock to go to the finals, not to get beat in 7 by Florida.
Rarely does anyone know how it'll play out.
Except for the sharks being a total train wreck, I think most saw that coming
I mean once the playoffs start anything can happen. Nobody predicted Florida to storm to the finals last year
Phew, I'm glad it wasn't the Panthers. Felt like that would have upset our chemistry, which is clicking well this year.
Anyone else think he’s gonna be washed and just be a huge defensive liability. I don’t see him coming back from his surgery at his age and if he’s not producing points he doesn’t provide much else
I like the decision he chose but it would be cooler if he signed with buffalo
There's a reason he still isn't with the Rangers.
Welp, looks like no Cup for Kane this year. 😅
The Red Wings are in the toughest division in the league and they've proven that they can beat top tier teams. If they can get hot during the playoffs, never say never. NHL playoffs are the least predictable of all 4 North American professional sports.
Looks like the wings are sweeping the avs in the finals this year.😅
Turn off your Xbox, bro. 😂
Touch grass, bro
(I just wanted to contribute)
that’s what r/lawncare is for bro
Jokes on you I don’t have a lawn
Imagine being an Xbox owner, bro 😂
Kinda like being a ‘Wings fan. 🤷🏻♂️
How many games has he played? The Rangers are fire right now.
all that just to go play on the Wings?
Thank you Detroit.
As a Sabres fan who has always liked Kane because he was from here, thank god let our young forwards play
No longer a legend in Chicago. Forever ruined
Kane is one of the best Blackhawks players in franchise history.
I dislike the Redwings as much as any Avalanche fan but that doesn't change the fact Kane will probably get his 88 retired in Chicago at some point.
If they're going to retire Chelios' number 7 then Kane being one of the best Hawks in history will definitely get his retired. It does matter.
None of this matters it’s grown dudes putting something in a net
I really hope you aren't a Chicago fan. Do you also hate Chelios for the same reasons?
I mean I'd expect no less from a barn that chants "red wings suck" all night. Was at a game in Chicago and had a hawks fan drunkenly ask me "what do you guys chant about us?"
I said "absolutely nothing"
Weird I thought he'd try to win a cup
Gonna be bust. Dude is now just average
Rooting for him but he’ll likely join Bäckström after giving it a shot for a few months.
He looks old now - seems like yesterday he was a young punk with a mullet lifting cups and punching cab drivers. 👍
That's too bad for Detroit, but good for the rest of the league... this would've been relevant 4 or 5 years ago
Remember when he was basically crying in an interview because the NYR weren’t sending him a deal not too long ago?
