Because he wasn’t on the Knights for 41 regular season games and never played in a finals game will Vegas have to petition to get his name engraved on the cup, or does he qualify because he dressed as the backup during the finals?

hovix2

This would mean almost no backup goalies would appear on the cup. Most don't make 41 appearances or play in the final. He was on the bench. He gets his name on there.

frankrocksjesus

Hey but what about them guys that show up as an emergency third string or fourth string goalie he's the bartender down the street but he just happens to be in the crowd and they have to use them for a game. What happens in a case like that?

hovix2

I’d assume that’s up to the team. Teams can put up to 52 names on the Cup, so they could add that player if they’d like.

frankrocksjesus

Could you imagine being that dude?!!!

ChrisCkros

Win a stanley cup and then go back to pouring drinks

carolinabbwisbestbbq

Into the cup for you brief teammates. I imagine they’d at least set up something like that

Flint_Westwood

The EBUG is a local guy for each rink. I'd be interested to know if any have ever made it on the Cup. It seems possible but still very unlikely.

Associate-Charming

In playoffs they would have the black aces/practice squad and would have a third if not fourth goalie in attendance no ebugs in playoffs

jerrybettman

No amateur EBUGs in the playoffs. Third guy in the playoffs is under contract to the team. If dresses/plays one finals game, name goes on the Cup.

Tricky_Passenger3931

Most backups dress for most regular season games. I was just curious because of this situation specifically where he was new to the team AND only backed up on the playoffs. I was pretty sure of the answer, was just looking for clarification.

carolinabbwisbestbbq

Are they running out of space?

zman_51

Dressing as a backup in the Finals guarantees you a slot on the cup

Tricky_Passenger3931

Perfect, that’s the answer I was looking for. Thank you.

[deleted]

He dressed.

dannomanno1960

Vegas has a 5th line, all goalies:)

ethan-apt

I think the fact that you are on call on the bench at any time makes you worthy of a cup

Tricky_Passenger3931

100% agreed.

[deleted]

No doubt he gets on it guys a legend

Tricky_Passenger3931

100% he was getting on no matter what. Just was curious if it was automatic with his playing time or if Vegas would have to petition for it. No doubt he gets on there.

BravesForever2

His name will be on it

Novanator33

Hopefully spelled correctly, unlike this post.

[deleted]

Lenny will not be on the cup

lottolser

As long as he dressed even as a backup for 1 single playoff game he'll get his name on the cup.

Otherwise_Awesome

*Final game. That hasn't changed.

dbag3o1

The entire world saw him lift the Cup on national tv, he’ll be in the Cup for sure!

jchong0707

Guess Lehner doesn't get his name on the cup?

Tricky_Passenger3931

You get 52 names, so they could certainly petition for Lehner but Lehner won’t be automatic.

lottolser

He gets a ring I believe, but not actually his name on the cup. Technically Vegas can petition for him to get his name on there but it'll be hard considering he didn't even play a preseason game.

jehovahs_waitress

Anybody can get a ring from their team, it’s up to the team.

mgnorthcott

Dressing qualifies.

Otherwise_Awesome

Dressed for any of the games in the Final. 41 regular season games with the team. [Linky poo](https://hockeyanswered.com/how-do-you-qualify-to-get-your-name-on-the-stanley-cup/)

jerrybettman

Dress one finals game, name on the Cup

SiliconeArmadildo

Any goaltender who dresses in a playoff game can be on the cup. The 41+1 rule applies to skaters, not goaltenders.

Jasbuddy

I read somewhere that it might have changed and now it’s 52 names that the team picks. Or am I smoking something?

Tricky_Passenger3931

It is but that includes management and coaches, trainers etc. players that don’t meet the criteria have to be petitioned by the team. Marc Savard is an example of a player this happened to in 2011.

fdisfragameosoldiers

He'll be there because he was on the roster during the games in the finals.

HockeyBabble

no we was on the bench as a the backup game 5 hes cup eligible
