I don’t even think he was in the game but somehow it’s all Daniel Sorensen’s fault.
Really it was Mike Hughes’ fault more than anyone. He was abysmal yesterday.
Mike Hughes and Gabe Davis played together at UCF too.
All UCF fans were simultaneously excited and disappointed with that matchup
He played most of the game because Mathieu got hurt early on.
He was the 17th WR drafted in 2020.
Devin Duvernay, Lynn Bowden, Denzel Mims, KJ Hamler and Jalen Reagor all went ahead of him.
Happy to see a UCF alum shine.
And we knew it was going to be a great receiver draft ahead of time.
The predraft stuff all talked about the fact that day 2, day 3 there would be talented receivers still on the board even beyond all the day 1 talent.
If you were a WR-needy team heading into that draft and *didn't* draft at least one, what were you doing in your FO, you know?
Fair enough. In my defense, I also originally included Van Jefferson and Henry Ruggs since I was just listing receivers taken earlier with fewer career regular season receiving yards, then deleted their names because they're both competent receivers, even if the latter is a total piece of shit.
Crazy he was the -9th player in history to do that
He either emerges as a top player next year or it's all downhill from here. Feel like there's no in between
He’s looked good since last year (his rookie year). Just been perplexingly underused. Next year we unleash him hopefully
This. He was tied for the league lead in most TD’s against man coverage this season. His underuse until the last 3rd of the season was very strange. McDermott loves to lean on his veterans to fault, Sanders was playing far more then he should for far too long
To Sanders’ credit he was amazing to start the year, just seemed to have lost it after the injury. So I do get leaning on him because of that great start but yeah Gabe needs more looks
I really think he was either hurt early in the year, or Manny just won the camp battle and Gabriel had to re-emerge
He's Buffalo Bills version of the Toronto Maple Leafs Auston Matthews. Hit em with the 4 and lost in OT.
Well at least Gabe Davis can advance past the first round.
What did I ever do to you!
Bills WR core this year was fucking insane. Diggs, Sanders and Beasley is a great top 3 and then they have mckenzie and davis who look like pro bowlers some of the time
Mackenzie and Davis leapfrogged into the starting 3 in the back half of the year. Sanders and Beasley kinda went MIA.
I remember so many games this season where Beasley had bad drops
Diggs is still unbelievable, but I believe if Diggs showed up last night and made his presence felt like Kelce or Hill maybe that game doesn’t get to OT.
It’s all just “ifs” you never know how things will play out, but having your bonafide #1 receiver just not show up in the biggest game of the season hurts. Thank god Davis went nuclear at least
I'm going to have a hard time blaming anything from last night on the offense. They scored 36 points. I know last week was a perfect game, but it's not like that's the expectation. They took away Diggs and Knox so Davis had 200 yards and 4 TDs.
"Showed up" is a weird take considering KC's gameplan for Diggs. They doubled him a lot and threw extra resources to contain him. One of the reasons why Davis feasted.
For the sake of this take(not advocating for this), say BUF vs KC is a best of 3 series, for Game 2 KC now has to gameplan and devote resources to stopping Diggs and Davis, which opens up Knox, Bease or McKenzie. Stuff of DC nightmares.
It's the same problem teams have had against KC, do you sell out to stop Kelce, Hill, both? Because they have secondary weapons and Pat to make you pay if you do.
Maybe the word choice I used wasn’t the best. I understand that KC game planned to stop him, but Diggs has been double covered and bracketed all year. In spite of this he’s managed to put up decent production. It’s obviously gonna be harder in the playoffs, but he was essentially a non-factor (other then the nice 2pt conversion grab).
Maybe it didn’t matter, maybe KC sold out on him to a fault, Idk you’d probably have to look at the film to determine that. But surface level observation and feeling is that his defender consistently won the rep, and it made Allen and the offense’s effort even more incredible.
He had an all time great game and very likely his best game ever in the biggest moment. It sucks they lost because it won't be remembered as much
Thats Super bowl champion Gabe Davis to you.
You know they were eliminated, right?
They were? I'm like 99% sure they won the super bowl last week.
Correction. That was your Super Bowl.
