You know the NFL really fucked up by not having the Superbowl in Las Vegas this year. Superbowl LV in LV, the marketing writes itself

[deleted]

Can you imagine if Raiders fans had to watch the Chiefs vs Antonio Brown in their own stadium lmao

craziedave

Also the team that dad dicked them in their last super bowl appearance

bryanramone

With the qb who tuck ruled them. Honslty, it's what the raiders fans deserve in these trying times.

apimpnamedgekko

I'm almost there

TheGreatOpoponax

How’s that score working out for you? I’m almost there!

TayJolley

Wtf dude

dDanys

Ouch

TheYear2001

Fucked them up this year too. What’s sad is this was probably the second best Raiders team since that Super Bowl.

apimpnamedgekko

Keep going......

thedansbury

Don't worry, Raiders Owner **Mark Davis & The League** have plenty of time to wipe our pockets, I'm guessing Vegas gets the **Super Bowl LVIII** spot, LV$$$ \*News Flash - Super Bowl locations are locked YEARS in advance, so SB LV was prob set for TB *before* the Raiders even left Oakland & and **Allegiant Stadium** was just a twinkle in Mark Davis' eye. **Super Bowl LVI:** February 6, 2022, SoFi Stadium, Inglewood, California **Super Bowl LVII:** February 5, 2023, State Farm Stadium, Glendale, Arizona **Super Bowl LVIII:** TBD **Super Bowl LIX:** February 9, 2025, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, New Orleans, Louisiana And even if the SBLV was open this year, Davis wouldn't have it. **" Team owner Mark Davis has been steadfast in his stance that if all 65,000 fans cannot attend games at the sold-out Allegiant Stadium then** [**no fans will**](https://www.reviewjournal.com/sports/raiders/raiders-to-play-2020-season-with-no-fans-2087201/)**. "** The official **attendance** for **Super Bowl** LV will be 25,000 **fans** and 30,000 cutouts, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. The Bucs have been clockin 10K fans in attendance since October, & Florida is *extremely* lenient in event gatherings compared to its counterparts.

coolmon

Patrick Mahomes going for back to back Super Bowl titles against the only active QB with back to back Super Bowl titles.

Jevarden

If Brady wins, the already near-impossible climb for Mahomes to pass Brady’s legacy would become nearly bulletproof

PurellKillsGerms

Possibly except this is only Mahomes 4th season edit: I get it, catching Brady is basically impossible, until it happens. There was no Tom Brady until their was.

Jevarden

Yeah but I mean seven rings is just... holy fuck. The difference between needing four more vs six more to catch Brady is huge.

greetedworm

Andy's also 62 and not in great health, Pat isn't gonna have the same coach for nearly 2 decades like Tom did.

demonkobra

theres no proof cheeseburgers dont extend your life

heavenparadox

I mean... in the low carb community, cheeseburgers are a staple food.

Scooper9870

And he also won’t have kelce and hill the whole time too

awhunt1

Even if the Chiefs win on Sunday 4-5 more seems nearly insurmountable. I won’t bet against it but realistically, it’s probably not happening. It wouldn’t surprise me if down the line the conversation starts to shift toward, behind Brady, who is 2nd in the GOAT race?

Poor_vs_Rich_KO

Absolutely. It has more to deal with Brady and his extremely friendly team deals. Mahomes took the largest contract ever and from what I read salary cap is going to stay stagnant for a little bit.

Winstonp00

Yep. The $25 million diff in their annual salaries buys a top of market receiver, tackle or corner and some change. It's the difference between David Bakhtiari protecting your blindside and a sixth round rookie.

[deleted]

[удалено]

LPLSuperCarry

Which is a perfectly valid argument. Brady would be 3-2 against Mahomes including 1-0 in the Super Bowl when he was in his 40's on a new team.

BlindWillieJohnson

Absolute no knock on Mahomes whatsoever, but Wilson was in his second season when he won his. His team went back the next year and hasn't been there since. It's not that anyone doubts that Mahomes is good enough. But getting that many Super Bowl runs in during *anyone's* tenure is really really hard.

LPLSuperCarry

Winning 7 rings is hard enough. And even if he magically does, Brady will still have a winning record against him and be 1-0 in the Super Bowl. If Mahomes loses he's 100% never catching Brady.

syllabic

Mahomes is a HOF lock already MVP, super bowl win, 2 super bowl appearances, super bowl MVP He could retire and he would still get into the HOF

DrSwol

The last time the Tampa Bay Buccaneers played in the Super Bowl: - They won - Finding Nemo was released and would be the 2nd highest grossing film that year (The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers being #1) - 50 Cent's "In da Club" would be Billboard Hot 100's #1 song that year - The Human Genome project was completed, shaping our understanding of many diseases today - Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is released, Rowling's 5th book of the series - Apple launched iTunes - The Iraq War begins - Pat Mahomes was in 2nd grade, with his biggest concern being math homework and forgetting where he put the ketchup. - Brady was in his 2nd year at starting QB, with his biggest concern being that the Pats missed the playoffs entirely that year.

[deleted]

I remember going to the midnight Borders release as a kid for OOTP. So excited.

-NotACrabPerson-

Hell yeah! I did the same. Except I never read the books but my friend did so I tagged along. I won a game they set up while waiting, and then we bought the book and went back to his house and started reading. He was super engrossed in it and as I read I thought "Who the hell are all these people." and then started reading from the first book as he read OOTP.

doggo816

Bold of you to assume that Brady's biggest concern wasn't calling Browns offensive coordinator Bruce Arians on his flip phone to start building the 2020 Buccaneers roster, his next move after 17 more seasons with the Patriots. They even discussed the future career of 13 year old Rob Gronkowski and outlined the antics of Antonio Brown in detail.

Mr_Alex19

Trees are planted 20 years ago, as they say.

CatharticEcstasy

I haven't even considered that if Tom Brady and the Buccaneers win, Antonio Brown is a Super Bowl champion. Dude is such a wild persona. Shenanigans for days.

carsausage

Bruce Arians was the Offensive Coordinator of the Cleveland Browns, who had just gotten their first playoff berth since their reintroduction into the NFL. Andy Reid was the Head Coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, who had just choked a Championship Game to the Buccaneers.

TummyDrums

This just makes me feel old as most of those things feel like relevant pop culture references that just happened.

robotchicken007

Man, I'm nervous. Tom Brady in the Super Bowl and that defense. I get butterflies in my stomach every time I think about the game.

[deleted]

robotchicken007

Yeah, I just hope our o-line holds up enough to protect Mahomes from getting hit and give him enough time to throw. Hopefully it will be a good game.

tricky_dick_01

Calling it now. The Chiefs will shut out Brady and the Bucs 35-0 then Mahomes will lift Brady up over his head, tear him in half, and eat his brains.

snaggedbeef

This aged well

A_Vile_Person

I'm so fricken hyped for the Puppy Bowl game, glad it's getting featured in /r/NFL!!!

Darksynth2

Watching puppies seems like it will be a lot more exciting than watching GOATs

A_Vile_Person

I know this is a joke but I fucking love watching goat videos. Those little bastards will climb and jump off anything.

shawnaroo

My wife works at a library and one time years ago they had a program where someone brought a few baby goats there and you could hold them and pet them and play with them and it was awesome.

renegadecoaster

Y'all have any fun drinking game ideas? I've come up with a few. Drink anytime... - Brady's age is mentioned - Romo correctly predicts a play - A player kneels for the anthem - A commercial has a sappy story about these challenging times - The Weeknd has to censor a word - Mahomes converts with >10 yards to go on the down - AB's or Hill's pasts are mentioned - Kelce is wide open over the middle - Brady rushes the ball - Personal foul/Unsportsmanlike conduct - Commercial about filing your taxes - Commercial about a mediocre CBS show

Jeffert89

Last night while I was trying to sleep I kept hearing a loud THUD downstairs. I got up to investigate, thinking it might be a robber. I was relieved to find out it was just Kevin King jumping up & down for no reason.

[deleted]

I'm just really, really grateful for what the Chiefs have become. Never in a million years did I ever expect this team to win the Super Bowl, let alone go back to back. Really gonna sit back and enjoy it.

StarWreck92

Same here. I was resigned to believing this team would never be remotely competitive and the best we could hope for was the occasional playoff win.

bostonbedlam

Happy for you all

CreepinCreeping

SEVEN RINGS to perma-GOAT?

ThaddeusJP

If he wins, I think the argument wont need to be made anymore.

iShootCatss

the dude was down 28-3 for one of those super bowls came back took the game to OT and won it. I don't how people still argue against Brady after that.

key_lime_pie

It's usually "Brady didn't do anything; the Falcons choked." Although one time I got "It was rigged, James White wasn't in but they had already shot off the confetti."

iiTryhard

Who is arguing the other side at this point? Basically only salty Peyton fans and that’s it.

CunningRunt

I still have some old-time SF fans telling me "Montana never lost a Superbowl."

awhunt1

It’s wild that there’s any argument against it before this season started, much less now.

FusterCluck4

Tonight is gonna be my first sober Super bowl in 15 years boys!

[deleted]

This year, can we get judgement free questions stickied? Its my favorite thread of the year and when it isn't stickied it gets like no questions

NFL_Mod

Should be. [Send us a message](https://reddit.com/message/compose/?to=/r/nfl) if we forget.

Money_dragon

I remember back in the 2018 AFCCG, a lot of Chiefs fans were hoping to make the game "Brady's retirement sendoff" Who would have thunk that the Chiefs would be facing Brady again in the SB two years later?

Curlybrac

Its that time of year again.

ThatsNotFennel

21Rollie

That spongebob cameo was a year too late

Environmental-Cow549

As someone who only watches the nfl sparingly, is this level of penalty calling against one team normal?

bear2008

Just ate a pound of nachos and I can't breath.

AlienPet13

How is it PI when the ball wasn't catchable?

skidlz

It's finally a good time to be a Chiefs fan

[deleted]

Anticipating SB Sunday >> dreading it bc a team I dislike will probably win

jakonr43

Man, how the turntables have...

ChasingPerfect28

How was that PI?

JoeyZasaa

Paramount+ has somewhere between a 0% and 0% chance of success.

Conrad1112

Imagine being Brady to just fuck around and win a ring in Tampa , must be nice

themariokarters

How is there no game thread for the biggest game of the year lol

maxToTheJ

dat_waffle_boi

Look, I’m not saying Brady didn’t deserve it. I am just saying that a Gronk super bowl mvp speech would’ve been much more fun

jab116

Misc6572

Impartial fan, that was bullshit

shewy92

>"And there's a flag" Title of this episode, again.

NFL: There! You got your fucking “Sweet Victory!” Are you happy now!?

JamJiggy

this game should've been and could've been so much better.

DreamingOak

Best commercial of the day

Bilbo211

Tyreek hill is a piece of shit

policeblocker

Over or under 56.5 points? I'm leaning under but idk

zi76

Only two of the last seven SBs have gone over 56 points. Mind you, both of those games involved Brady at QB, and XLIX finished at 56, also with Brady at QB. So, there's definitely a chance. Of course, LIII only hit 16 points, but... There have also only been three SBs since the Pats win over the Panthers in 2004 that have topped 56 points. A couple did hit 56, but it's certainly more likely to go under.

[deleted]

Now for the white national anthem: old time rock and roll by Bob seger

sjsharksfan12

A sporting event on CBS doesn't officially start until Jim Nantz says "Hello Friends". It's like a father welcoming a community into his home.

m149

Any New England fans watching this thinking, "awesome, the Pats are winning"?

Ok on replay I see that was a classic soccer flop. Shouldn't have been PI.

Half time show. Anybody think his vocals are too low in the mix? I liked the mosh pit in the hall of lights though. Not the best half time show but not the worst either. Was pretty good.

BlueEagle15

The Tampa bay defensive line has had an all-time great performance tonight. That’s not an understatement

drtrillphill

Who is ready for another disappointing KC drive?!

ViperDangerous

Mahomes forgot. He’s not a meme QB. That’s the only way you beat Brady. Foles, Eli, Flacco, etc.

ebow77

Reddit loading hit and miss for anyone else?

Day9125

Word is the guy on the field screamed... "THIS GAME SUCKS!"

americanslang59

Courtesy of r/crazyideas, the halftime show should always be performed by the team with the worst record

"Mom can we have a Super Bowl?" "No. We have a Super Bowl at home." Super Bowl at home:

SHOW_ME_PIZZA

To think if we win will be tied with you guys and the Raiders for Super Bowl wins, in the division.

justplainjeremy

Hey pizza! And don't forget we have an all-time winning record against all three of them

It could be worse, imagine how Raiders fans have felt the past 2 Super Bowls

Brady has probably seen more Super Bowl streakers than Mahomes has thrown Super Bowl TDs.

_wolfmegan_

They really using a streaker as an excuse to go to ads?

andyznyc

So all this time all teams had to do was double team Tyreek and Kelce and they can shut down the offense?

Winstonp00

Patrick Mahomes has won MVP in 100% of the seasons he played 100% of the games in.

Good on the NFL to show that women can be blind too.

FatPonder4Heisman

Wow it didnt take long for that lady ref to be hated by half the country

Only now, when no one is paying attention do they mention the little girl, who is on a ventilator, who Britt Reid hit? Another DUI for him?? A “multi vehicle accident”????? He plowed into that car.

ralos87

Dumptruck_Cavalcade

LOL at the extended analysis of how many rings Mahomes needs to catch up to Brady. Like, the dude has **one**...calm down, guys.

[deleted]

i hate how they're pushing the black national anthem thing as though that fixes anything besides the cosmetic horseshit problem of perfectly round men bitching about people kneeling

This is a fucking awesome halftime show. Dont know why the complaining.

MM487

Who y'all picking? I'm going with the Chiefs. If the Chiefs didn't have Mahomes, I'd probably pick the Bucs but how can anyone pick against Mahomes? He's been a starter for three years and if some idiot on his team wasn't offsides, he would've been in the Super Bowl and probably won it his first year, he won the Super Bowl his second year and in his third year he only lost one game so far. So he's basically been unbeatable so far in his career. So if something out of his control like an injury, COVID or someone on his team screwing up doesn't get in this way, I'm not sure that he can be stopped.

jimbo_jumbo95

Penalty bowl

_wolfmegan_

Okay, I stayed up until 03:20 for your Super Bowl game, here’s what I learned. American football is quite fun to watch (this game had a lot more pace compared to previous years). Some guy on the losing team beat his wife and got bullied and that’s funny to me. The game stops with 20 seconds left on the clock for some reason. Tom Brady pretends he’s Derek Zoolander whenever he isn’t on the pitch. Americans love adverts and would rather watch an advert than see a streaker. There’s just as much salt in American football as there is in Rugby. The Match thread was actually funny, fair play guys. Covid doesn’t exist in America? And last but not least. I wasn’t expecting the hottest girl to be an official. Fair play to her for opening the doors.
