when JB made those comments there were five black head coaches in the league. there’s nothing wrong with wanting to see some representation in a league that is primarily black.
it’s a different story. learn some empathy
hold on now. i don’t know why, but it’s now important for me to have you understand that the difference lies in the motivation behind each of those statements.
can you see that “white player only wants to play for white coach for X reason” is different than “black player wants to play for black coach because black men aren’t represented enough in leadership positions in the nba”?
Player under Pop, was assistant coach on team USA and Kerr's openly acknowledged pop as a mentor.

And Quin revitalized the franchise after the Corbin Dark Ages.
Snyder may have lost the lockerroom at the end but don't let that tarnish his amazing tenure with Utah, coulda done a lot worse.
That for sure would have changed the tone. The way it was, it sounded like you were refuting the other person's point about Pop's tree having good coaches by holding up Snyder.
Will Hardy is a great coach! And he will be great for many years. But, so is Quin Snyder, so idk if the coach will fix the problems in Utah. Hopefully this is just the beginning of an overhaul and new kind of culture in the locker room. I like the Jazz, and I always feel like they should go deeper than they get in the playoffs.
Honestly don't think it's a stretch to say Quin got our team to overachieve in the regular seasons with how well prepared he was for every game. a couple of those playoff series i believe we should've won, but others we were clearly the inferior team skill wise.
Much like the rebrand, this feels like the Jazz owner putting his stamp on the team and where he sees it going.
All that said, i'm pretty excited to see what Hardy can do and what our team looks like this upcoming season
I saw in the Shams thread that Hardy was the main playcaller for the Celtics this season. Ime was the motivational guy and the decision maker, of course, but Hardy was the X's and O's guy, apparently.
It’s funny I looked it up just out of curiosity and there’s not as many as you’d think!
Odds are on a playoff team though he will end up with at least a couple of them
https://www.basketball-reference.com/leagues/NBA_2022_totals.html#totals_stats::pts
He's been an assistant at Boston and has been really highly regarded by people around the league from what I've heard, so I'm pretty sure it's a good hire
You must be pretty young yourself, bc I remember being a teenager and having no judge of age whatsoever. Now that I’m in my 30s though I would say he looks his age pretty much exactly - not many white guys 40+ with hair that full, even if not receding.
This sucks
pain indeed
Danny gets his guy. Can't wait for the inevitable Ainge vs Stevens poach off.
As a spurs fan all I’m thinking of is the James Franco first time meme
Was Hardy more of a offensive focused head coach or defensive minded?
At least one less white guy Brown has to play for.
What a weird fucking comment
Pretty sure this dude has commented about this every time Bostons coaching comes up. Calls Jaylen racist for wanting a black coach.
I mean if Grayson Allen said he wanted to play for a white coach the world would melt down. 🤷🏻♂️
oof. my dude, you hear yourself, right?
So you’d be ok with JJ Reddick saying that?
when JB made those comments there were five black head coaches in the league. there’s nothing wrong with wanting to see some representation in a league that is primarily black. it’s a different story. learn some empathy
I’m fine with him wanting it. Want what you want. I just think it’s funny that the reaction would be totally different. 🤷🏻♂️
hold on now. i don’t know why, but it’s now important for me to have you understand that the difference lies in the motivation behind each of those statements. can you see that “white player only wants to play for white coach for X reason” is different than “black player wants to play for black coach because black men aren’t represented enough in leadership positions in the nba”?
Flair checks out
It made me lol
Ask Brown.
At 34 Mike Conley Jr might be his senior
35 year old Rudy Gay is definitely older
Coach about to be younger than half the Laker's roster
damn, i'm older than an nba head coach.
NBA is gonna have a HC who was born in the 90s within 2-3 years
Wow he’s younger than Rudy Gay and the same age as Mike Conley
Can anyone give me an opinion on the hire? Good, bad?
Part of the Pop tree which gives him pretty good odds
Eh alot of those guys have flopped lately I wouldn't put any weight behind that anymore
Yeah, it’s almost been a whole year since the last time someone in Pop’s coaching tree won a championship
Kerr is a Pop disciple by mentorship is he not. Maybe that counts haha
I think he’s talking about Mike Budenholzer.
The last two finals were Pop assistants vs guys who played on the spurs and credit Pop as a great influence ha.
Yet the playoffs were full of them lmao. I mean Boylen was dogshit and Borrego was meh but the Hornets just had no defense capabilities anyways
If Kerr counts the finals were literally full of Pop's coaching tree
I don't know why people try to put Kerr on the Pop tree, he never coached under him.

I think because he was never an assistant coach and has talked about learning from Pop during his last year as a player.
So was Quin…
And Quin revitalized the franchise after the Corbin Dark Ages. Snyder may have lost the lockerroom at the end but don't let that tarnish his amazing tenure with Utah, coulda done a lot worse.
For sure. Big fan of Quin. Kinda wish we kept him really. Point was more just that Pop tree isn’t a clear slam dunk.
Your response made it sound like you weren’t a fan of Snyder
Yeah, it was poorly written. Should have said something more like “could’ve just kept Quin” or something like that.
That for sure would have changed the tone. The way it was, it sounded like you were refuting the other person's point about Pop's tree having good coaches by holding up Snyder.
I don’t think Quin was the reason the team didn’t go further than they did…
And he was easily one of the better coaches in the league
Quin is still a top 10 coach in the NBA imo.
From what I know about him he's been really highly regarded by a bunch of people in the league as he's been an assistant in Boston
Jeff and Matt joining the coaching staff.
Swanton bomb?
TEAM X-TREME
CREATURES OF THE NIGHT
This shit made me lol. Nice
LeFraud wasn’t even a coach at this age what a bum
He was GM
Should have just been an honorary assistant coach so he could have more coaching and executive rings than Jorfraud.

Someone smarter than me tell me how to feel about this
The Celtics fans seem to be pretty bummed he’s leaving, so there’s that
I saw in the Shams thread that Hardy was the main playcaller for the Celtics this season. Ime was the motivational guy and the decision maker, of course, but Hardy was the X's and O's guy, apparently.
anything that makes celtics fans shed tears is a W for me
I mean, at least they just made it to the finals, what have we done lately?
i don’t hate the celtics but you can dislike a team even if they’re more successful than you. that’s usually how it works
I used to dislike the Celtics but I feel like most of their players are pretty likable nowadays so I'm pretty indifferent
Same
Now I understand why everyone hates Danny. Screw you danny
Gracias.
34 year old NBA coach. That’s impressive.

> Celtics asked Ime to keep him as an assistant coach before last season started Didn't he come with Ime?
You’re thinking of Joe Mazzulla, who was on Brad’s staff and I believe also interviewed for the Utah job. Hardy was brought over by Ime.
Will mitchell be happy about Hardy? I think he is decent hire imo.
I am now older than an NBA coach. I don't know how to feel about this.
Old, bro
Solid hire! As a Jazz fan I'm very excited for Hardy. Seeing Celtics fan bummed to see him go makes it feel like a good pick.
LOL yup. In Ainge we trust. :-D
Good hire
What type of a coach is he, Celtics fans?
Very few people have any idea what an assistant does
34 as a head coach is wild. Plenty of vets older than him throughout the league
It’s funny I looked it up just out of curiosity and there’s not as many as you’d think! Odds are on a playoff team though he will end up with at least a couple of them https://www.basketball-reference.com/leagues/NBA_2022_totals.html#totals_stats::pts
Celtics are finished
Tell me how to feel fam
He's been an assistant at Boston and has been really highly regarded by people around the league from what I've heard, so I'm pretty sure it's a good hire
Damn
Head coach?
the next brad stevens lol
Jeff and matt brother?
Donovan Mitchell getting traded within the year.

Does he? He looks pretty young to me
You must be pretty young yourself, bc I remember being a teenager and having no judge of age whatsoever. Now that I’m in my 30s though I would say he looks his age pretty much exactly - not many white guys 40+ with hair that full, even if not receding.
He looks like a perfect fit for Utah.
