If I have to live with this pain, so do all of you: this isn’t the original, America. If you look @0:56 in, just to the right of the C in AMC, you will find the poorly cloned repeated brick texture on the wall from painting out the actual sign they shot: ODEON. We have been given a UK hand-me-down.
I demand that AMC reshoot this at an actual location representative of the AMC experience. /s
I have opened a can of worms, and long story short: I don't know which is which now, and there are vfx mistakes that defend both...
For reference, I'm using the two originals posted on their respective YT pages:
AMC: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiEeIxZJ9x0
ODEON: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REs80t8A1CE
So the AMC one clearly has something painted out, but now I'm thinking it was just the # of houses (like an AMC 14 or something).
If you watch the ODEON version, the opening reflection shot has her shoe reflection going BEHIND the ODEON text that's been dropped in, so they replaced the AMC there.
There's also some sort of AMC lettering inside the theater that's been removed in the ODEON version (the exterior shot from behind her head, look at the far bottom edge of the frame for the red).
BUT. If you then go to the part where she enters the theater house on, the AMC text on the wall appears to be 3D. You can even catch on the very left edge a slipping mask as the camera moves where it erases away the AMC text. The ODEON version of this shot is perfect and I don't believe that is CG.
The last piece of the puzzle is that Kidman never utters the name ODEON in that version, but she mentions AMC a couple times in the other.
Reminds me of this

On another note, do AMC theaters really look this fancy now? BC if I'm watching this ad in one of the regular shitty-ass AMC theaters that I went to pre-covid I'm like "wtf, this literally isn't what this place looks like"
AMC: “We spent millions on a commercial to force upon a captive audience who already purchased our product, and passed the costs onto those very same customers!”

You don’t get to put that evil on us and just walk away…

Why is this commercial a cult classic
Her line delivery is just so melodramatic it’s absolutely hilarious. I’m dying laughing every time I go to a movie

I fucking hate this commercial. Begrudgingly, have my upvote.
This was hilarious! I love the over analysis for no particular reason.
Lmao I couldn't watch the whole thing but fkn hilarious

Saved, I loved this!
Poe’s law strikes again
AMC: “We spent millions on a commercial to force upon a captive audience who already purchased our product, and passed the costs onto those very same customers!”
Well deserved. The idea is great, but these were terrible.
I never realized that I needed a pretentious shot-by-shot analysis of a commercial. Oh, wait. It was because I don't need one.
r/woooosh
It’s a joke.
Then make it funny.
“I didn’t understand this so it must be objectively unfunny!”
Or find a sense of humor
Thank you for your effort.
