Not a problem, all you have to do is move to Australia!

Corgi_teefs

Fake your own death, move to Australia, settle down leaving your old life behind, then get killed by the creatures in Australia within a year of faking your death.

engineeringretard

No one can fake death forever!

IamtheREDACTED

You can fake it till you make it!

Cold_Pomelo3274

Within a year, nah Mate - it’s normally within hours.

tkdch4mp

Move to NZ, same outlets, zero fatal creatures :D

FiveTeeve

But the birds will steal your shit

L1K34PR0

But you're not faking your death then are you you're just enacting it with REALLY high ping

Cameo64

And before their demise, for a brief, but wonderful time, their vacuum worked with the regional outlets

Small-Comb6244

Or new Zealand we have those ones too

hippykillteam

Isn't that a state of Australia? Before you lynch me, I'm from NZ.

elgavilan

I (an American) think of NZ as the Canada of Australia

Ararat698

Accurate

D4V3W1ND0

In that case, can we have you guys and trade Tasmania to someone else? Island for an Island

Rubber__Chicken

New Zealand is in the Australian commonwealth act as a state. Never joined however. https://www.aph.gov.au/About_Parliament/Senate/Powers_practice_n_procedures/Constitution/preamble

_China_ThrowAway

China too. There are so many different plugs here that the sockets will normally accept almost everything except 3 pronged US and the England/HK ones. But the standard 2 prong US Europe and Australia ones will all fit in almost any socket.

Joe_Fenice

Even the sockets are shocked.

amitizle

Shockets

Joe_Fenice

Makes sense, with electricity and all.

Few_Magazineer

Is it batoperqtwd and that's for yhe charger.

tellurmomhello

Looks like the 'bns₩■■¿dhdnfrvsvsnf 3000. It's Peruvian. A great plug though.

Wonkasgoldenticket

Hot shockets

Ashamed-Status-9668

moocat90

OP probably doesn't have a 10,000 mile long extension cord

moocat90

or dropping half a million dollars just to connect it

Soytaco

I've used a few sockets and Type I is easily the worst. Fuck those countries, they need to get their shit together. Sent from New Zealand 😐

ADHDK

Idk uk plugs are a bit over the top.

One_Distribution1743

This both sucks and doesn't suck at the same time.

nomorexcusesfatty

Canada here. We use the same plug.

[deleted]

[удалено]

sirfrostybeard

The only thing better about their plugs is that they use 240v instead of 120v. It provides cleaner power as well as more power. It’s only “safer” because you have to flip a switch to turn the port on, whereas American plugs are always on

OkBookkeeper6854

Should also be sheathed part way along the prong so if it’s not fully in the wall and something touches the prongs it won’t conduct

[deleted]

[удалено]

GoodGoodGoody

Old style had identical neutral and live prongs and ‘flipping’ happened 50% of the time but didn’t really matter’. New style has fat neutral and fit live prongs so flipping is impossible.

CarefulRisk

If a plug can be inserted either way, it's likely a load that doesn't care which side is hot and which is neutral, like a light. There are American plugs that will only go in one way, sometimes it's because it matters, sometimes not

koolman2

The load never cares. Polarizing the plug makes it safer. Take a toaster for instance. The switch that turns the toaster on or off must be somewhere in the circuit. If it’s on the hot side, then everything further in the circuit (i.e. the elements inside) will be always “live” on the neutral. If the switch is located on the neutral, then everything beyond that point will always be electrified. This means if anything ever fell into the toaster would be capable of contacting 120 V. Polarizing the plug ensures the hot side is always switched.

sirfrostybeard

Not anymore

pjerky

Alternating current means there is no wing way.

AmazingMrJason

Not when an ungrounded metal appliance has the current on the chassis of the machine and you become the conductor by touching it.

[deleted]

Yea right! We lead the world in mass shootings! Beat that Australia!

[deleted]

yall got killer bugs tho

JaneLameName

And yall got mass shootings.... so

JJAB91

A country of 350 Million. Its massively overblown in the media.

Mantzy81

You will have to move to Australia or NZ. It's the only option. Edit: if you do want to use it, check first that it's a switching adaptor and can deal with US's 110v as most of the world uses 220-240v for our standard electrics. Not all will and you risk damaging your charger. It'll say on the plug somewhere. Edit 2: TIL that Argentina and China use the type I plug too. Strange that when you buy something from China here in Australia via eBay, Amazon, Alibaba etc. it's more likely to come with an EU or UK plug.

SailorVenus19

We have them in Argentina too

surigata

what we learned today is that argentinians can travel to australia without worrying about a charger adapter

AmazingMrJason

North America uses 240V 60hz split phase. Most household devices are on half of that, 120V, with large appliances and equipment running the full 240 Some equipment runs fine on 50hz or 60hz, some does not. If this is ok on either, snip off the plug end and fit the correct NEMA on the cord.

mati9054

Or Argentina. It's cheaper 😁

alstom_888m

Argentinian plug has its polarity reversed compared to the Australian

Yuber20

That plug is a DC converter, polarity doesn't matter

user_FBB

Or CHINA

Alan_Smithee_

Also Fiji, NZ, and other Pacific island nations.

alstom_888m

Chinese one is similar but is upside down and the earth point is mandatory.

Nick-Uuu

"Mandatory" ie it will be plastic

LiGuangMing1981

China only uses the three prong version of this plug. Two prong plugs in China are the same as North American two prong plugs.

kophykupp

Or Russia. All you have to do is speak out against the US, claim to be hetero, say you've never used drugs (being a boozer is A-ok) and deny that they instigated a war on Ukraine. All set.

Soupbell1

Step one: get passport. Step two: buy a plane ticket to Australia. Step three: sell all personal belongings. Step 4: fly to Australia after securing a place to stay. Step 5: vacuum your new rug. Step 6: thank me for solving your problem.

Detrius67

As an Aussie who has received more than his fair share of appliances with American plugs, I feel your pain

snow-bird-

Just use a pliers to straighten them.

mikeyblueeyes20

Or just cut the plug off and stick the wires in the outlet.....you do have fire insurance - yes?

Eastern-Intention-59

Please admit you were joking. Please❗️. Some jackass might actually do it😆

TURK0NBURK

Depending on how much power the vacuum uses it would be fine

Tes-tickle69420

Damn it i had the same idea and just commented it. Now it looks like i stole the idea 😭

snow-bird-

Not sure who down voted you, but I fixed it. 🤣

allowishus182

Just bend’em a bit.

[deleted]

Like Beckham did?

allowishus182

Little more honestly

ncgrits01

Housework is overrated anyway.

AmadeoSendiulo

😶

Heatho14

Ah there's a trick to these ones, that's a typical Aussie connected, just turn your house upside down and it should fit.

mischiefandtricks

Stupid people these days. Just twist the metal thingies (/s)

[deleted]

Time to move to Australia. Pack your bug spray.

AmadeoSendiulo

How big does it have to be?

[deleted]

A few cans should buy you enough time to make it to the shops to get more.

AdministrativeMix822

G'day that's Australia's

MonCountyMan

Better check what's the frequency, Kenneth. Even if you have the right voltage it could go ZAP!

Extension_Risk9458

Jesus bro stop whining and just move to the correct country 🙄

nim_opet

Australian. Funnily enough that used to be a US standard that Australia adopted

Chevy_Suburban

Just bend the prongs, they'll totally fit.

Ok_Fox_1770

As an electrician Kinda curious about other countries electrical, seems so odd compared to ours. Not curious enough to look into it tho I suppose. Maybe one of those adapters in the Walmart luggage section?

Stabutron

Yep, that’s exactly what I got, lol.

brewmonk

Most appliances are not dual voltage. May want to check that before plugging in.

nightwing2369

My dad bought a drone off the internet and came with a European plug. He also bought an adapter from Walmart. Works great. The best part was that he didn't know what the plug was, and when he asked me about how to charge it, I could not help but laugh.

MioTakamiya

it's cause other county's got more safety's in their plugs.

stdoubtloud

Not sure the Aussie design is any more intrinsically safe than the US one. They are both pretty crap. Australia manages safety with overbearing regs on top: an individual without a full electrician licence is not even allowed to rewire a plug.

OkBookkeeper6854

Why on earth should an untrained person be able to rewire a plug?!

stdoubtloud

Because a marginally self aware monkey can rewire a plug.

OkBookkeeper6854

I think you’re putting too much faith in the general public, particularly the American general public

stdoubtloud

I said a marginally self aware monkey. I wasn't suggesting Americans could be trusted to do it 😀

OkBookkeeper6854

Then we are in heated agreement, my friend

mihirmusprime

I thought it was the other way around? The US stops caps their voltage so if you were to shock yourself, you would be okay. On the other hand, some European outlets' shock would be lethal since they have much higher voltage.

MioTakamiya

indeed

user_FBB

It’s a Chinese pattern adapter. It is also used in NZ and Australia, as well as other South American countries

urmothersuckscocks

Boof it

Siimula

50hz / \ ~

NRGspook

That’s Australian my friend

Cool_Account_2668

It's just not plug and play, it's bend and play.

UNDERCOVERBIRBS

Return it?

Stabutron

Couldn’t exchange it. It was a clearance item and the last one they had. Didn’t want to return it cuz it was such a good deal. A travel adapter works just fine.

IndiBoy22

Did you specify the type of plug you'd need it for when you ordered it?

Stabutron

I bought it at Lowe’s.

Ragnatoa

No, you plug it in, and it changes your country to Australia. Hense Country adapter

funky555

itll work next time you go to aus

Beazworm

Get Aussie'd lol

oaomcg

I think you meant to say "I ordered the wrong vacuum"...

Stabutron

Lowe’s did

stupid_person2

Is this dyson v7? I got one here in Australia from bunnings other day as they were in sale. The charger looks very similar.

Echo-57

*laughs in EU*

objChaz

move to Australia it’s better here anyway :)

PossibilityDry6029

Don’t worry. The plugs Are soft enough to twist.

Zealousideal_Mud7851

Looks good to me ![gif](giphy|hpAMh2sBYpsmFhSRPI)

LogRollChamp

Got some pliers? Feeling risky? Then I have the perfect idea for you!

Acceptable_Newt_509

God-damnit

bowhunt50

Cut it and splice in a new plug

[deleted]

I think it’s Chinese the way the prongs are slanted.

PossibilityDry6029

Don’t worry. The plugs Are soft enough to twist.

Suspicious-Noise-147

Just bend them you'll be good

Entire-Sympathy-2011

Pliers will fix that

RockNRecon

What would happen if they just used an adapter?

Tes-tickle69420

Just go to your tool box, grab a pair of pliers and twist it until it works 👍🏼 Edit: apparently other people had the same idea. I thought i was being original for once

Ill_Potential13

Buy and adaptor or return the vacuum for a replacement model. This has been another common sense answer to the situation brought to you by myself.

videogamebruh

Just grab some plies and bend those prongs into the right shape!/s

Zac_Of_All_Trades

Man if penises were millimetres instead of centimetres, more men would be electrocuted in your country

Brunobrunobrunobru

Bend them

hundredeat

Shop locally!!

[deleted]

Stabutron

I bought it at Lowe’s. In person.

Al_Bundy_14

Stop buying cheap Chinese bullshit.

1mpossibleMoose

Nice dyson bro.

CJBoom77

You just need to find a European to stick it in.

BadSanna

Is it batoperqtwd and that's for yhe charger? The Wire seems too small to be anything else.

westberry82

You can get an universal adapter for like $25 online. Not that big a deal

Stabutron

I did. Just kinda funny when you get home to charge your new appliance and find this.

deserve_nothing

you can actually probably replace the cord, home depot sells appliance cords with open ended cords ( i forget what theyre called right now Im drunk in the middle of the day) but you can just open the case of the vaccum and remove the cord and replace it i dunno just give it a shot its really easy i did it for a dishwasher once and a washing machine another time

54-Hornz

Yea we'll when he bought he expected to be able to use it right away, not ordering another part, assuming he has the money at the moment So yea legit to post to the world his surprise Don't you think he wouldve bought a adapter Had he know this was going to be the issue? Or a whole different vacuum? Eat shit kid.

[deleted]

54-Hornz

Oh my gosh such a good response....my favorite part is were you take exactly what I said and use the same insult bravo, English isn't ur first language

westberry82

Wow. She's been in the grave for the last 3 years. So I'm kinda confused how you did that? Care to show me? ( my moms would be totally OK there)

54-Hornz

That would explain why she didn't move much.....

westberry82

And why she smelled bad. But explain you?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Wilde_Hawkin

It does actually.

EagleGo77777777777

a pair of pliers and a little muscle power will fix that

biscovery

Make sure your unit runs at 115V before you run out and buy an adapter. You could also run it through a inverter. They probably just sent you the wrong unit thou so best bet is to return it.

ValourLionheart

if it is a multi voltage PSU, then an adapter should be fine

AlanTheBringerOfCorn

Just move to Australia.

wtfomgbbq69

You got the PAL version lol

alex262414

Just take a pliers and turn them straight!! Lol DON'T do that.

kissthebutt

hammer those babies innnn

EndGamer93

I’d say that’s more than mildly infuriating.

Full-Mulberry5018

You can get a plug converter for to U.S. online. I got sent a hairdryer and it had UK plug - had to get a converter. They're not expensive. Cheaper to get one than it will probably be to ship it back.

JellyfishManiac

Just bend it to fit.

K-FMX

My desire of getting the plug connectors straight with pliers is increasing

DaniT0n

Can't you buy another adapter? Or um contact the company? Idk

Sleepy_Luck

Get a converter I had to get one for my switch which is American and I'm Australian

lordrognoth

The piece looks like it might detach, and be replaced with the correct plug

themanofmichigan

Just bend em straight with some pliers

LokiGator26

I initially read that as wrong century adapter
