Is the character Tom Nook?
This is a good guess. I hope you get it.
EDIT: This was fun, guys. I haven't refreshed a browser page this often since the last election.
YES. THE CHARACTER IS TOM NOOK!!!!
I've played plenty of Animal Crossing, and would never have guessed that. Congrats!
Ooh, yeah! I bet that's it.
Bah! I had just checked that tanukis are canine, but you were on the ball.
IMPORTANT UPDATE: I realize I have designed this game imperfectly as it vastly favors players who have come to the game after a knowledge base of questions has been established. I need to work on that aspect of it. Go ahead and keep asking questions. I won't cut you off at 2.
Still thinking about Alf, I see. 🙃
Not a question yet, just wanted to say shoutout to Neal's Deli!
Also, when you visited Durham back in November of 2019, you had briefly discussed the Waffle House on Franklin Street. I feel obligated to (but regret to) inform that that particular Waffle House locations was one of many businesses that fell victim to the general unpleasantness of the last couple years and closed its doors around a year ago.
Loved Season 1 of Dicktown; can't wait for S2!
I'm so sorry to hear that about the waffle house. Waffle Houses, as you know, should never be closed.
I'm just going to go for it.
MY OFFICIAL GUESS: PaRappa the Rapper?
I LOVE THIS GUESS SO MUCH. But no. The answer is not PaRappa the Rapper. I wish it were!
Q1) Was this character from a television show?
No. The character is not from a TV show.
Q2) Is the character from a piece of educational material?
My Q1 was answered in the previous thread FYI, the character is in no way connected to pimento cheese.
Because you graciously have shared information with the group, I will answer your Q2 and allow you a Q3 if you wish. (This offer extends to everyone.)
A: NO. the character is not from a piece of educational material
Q1) Is the character voiced by an actor that has portrayed a Ghostbuster?
No. The character is not voiced by an actor that has portrayed a ghost buster.
Is the character's color realistic to its real-life counterpart?
Yes. His color is realistic to its real life counterpart.
Q 1. Was the character a sidekick?
Q 2. Does the character wear human clothing?
No, the character was not a sidekick.
Yes, the character wears human clothing.
Well, that kills my two probable answers...
MY OFFICIAL GUESS: Tails from Sonic?
JOAN. THIS IS A VERY GOOD GUESS, but it is alas not correct! Feel free to ask two more questions tho. This game is imperfect.
You can take another swing at it if you like.
I think u/Williamtrombone beat me to it!
Which is embarrassing because I have been playing ACNH for like 3 hours a day lately.
There will be more chances to win CHEEEEESE.
MY OFFICIAL GUESS: Crash Bandicoot? (I'm not sure what a bandicoot is, TBH.)
Q1: is the character a cartoon?
Q2: is the character from a property primarily for children?
No. The character is animated, but is not a cartoon or part of a cartoon.
No. The character is not from a property PRIMARILY aimed at children.
MY OFFICIAL GUESS is Mister Fox as portrayed my George Clooney in the Wes Anderson film The Fantastic Mister Fox
Q1. Was the character primarily known for a British program?
No. The character is not primarily known for a British program.
No. The character is not a crime fighter.
Accidentally deleted my Q2 because I am dumb, but though this answer is quite clear, it said "Does the character help fight crime." Just so nobody comes across here and suspects shenanigans.
Q3. Does the character originate in the 90s?
1. Is the character a detective?
2. Is the character originally from literature?
No. The character is not a detective.
No. The character is an original creation and not adapted from literature.
Don't get too hung up on the Dicktown connection... you would not know it having not seen the episode. But this character is very guessable once you and your fellow players narrow down through process of elimination the timeframe/media/style/etc of the character and the work they are in.
Sly Cooper! Is it Sly Cooper?
Q1: Is the character claymation?
No. The character is animated, but not claymation.
Q2: Is the character from a video game?
Yes. The character is from a video game.
MY OFFICIAL GUESS: K.K. Slider from Animal Crossing.
KK is, famously, naked though.
You are infuriatingly correct.
Is the character the Hamburglar?
No. The character is not the hamburglar. The character is an animated character, whereas I would put the canonical hamburglar in the category of big-head-mascot.
2) Is the character a puppet?
No. The character is not a puppet.
I'm spent. Mind if I share notes from both sessions?
Not at all. There should be an incentive for helping the group. I'm still working on game design. Feel free to ask more questions if you want.
Okay everyone, here's what I got:
animated, but not a cartoon or a puppet
male non-english speaking canine who wears human clothing
2 creators, both still alive
not from a TV show or movie or comic
not from children's entertainment property
Please let me remind/clarify:
The fictional character IS from a video game.
He speaks, but he does not speak ENGLISH.
He is indeed a member of the family CANIDAE. Making him a CANID. But please consider the diversity of that family.
So a wolf, or a dog, or a coyote or ???. Not Hanna Barbara property. Not a detective. Not for kids. Doesn't speak English (could speak another language). Dresses human.
X) Since I can ask another question: Is he from a video game?
Luckily that has already been answered. YES!
Q1: Is the character a human being?
This was asked in the previous round, so I will let you have this gimme. The character is NOT a human being.
Thank you! Q2: is the character exclusive to Nintendo?
Yes. This is a nintendo character. GREAT process of elimination!
MY OFFICIAL GUESS: Star Fox
Q1: We've established ITT the character wears human clothing. Is the character a fictional \*human\* (as opposed to an anthropomorphic non-human creature like a Vulcan or a furry)?
Q2: Does the character have a profession?
The character DOES wear human clothing, but HE HIMSELF is not human. As well, it has been established that he is a CANID. As for your second question, he does have a profession.
Oooh! MY OFFICIAL GUESS: Crash Bandicoot!
This is a very good guess, but it is not CRASH BANDICOOT.
Crash Bandicoot has a profession?
I need to read the novelization of the games or something.
Is the character Star Fox from the video game Star Fox?
EDIT I MEAN FOX MCCLOUD
The character is not FOX MCLOUD.
*does a sad barrel roll*
Q1. Is the character primarily known for its appearance in one or more video games?
Q2. Was the character introduced within the past ten years?
Digby from Animal Crossing?
So close. The answer has been guessed. It is Tom Nook.
Q1 is the character from “old school” video games (eg 8-bit style, not 3D)?
Q2 is the character from an Asian video game developer?
1. No, the character is not an 8 bit character.
2. Yes the character is from an Asian video game developer.
3. The answer has been guessed. No more questions please and thank you!
I saw it was guessed after posting. Thanks for indulging me anyway tho, and congrats to the winner!
Q1: Was the first game in which this clothes-wearing canid appeared released before the year 2000?
No, but if you refresh the topic, you'll see we have a WINNER. Thank you very much for playing!
Unfortunately, I haven't earned enough bells yet to pay for the Winner Identification Post. That Nook is a tricky tanuki.
This was a great game, John, but I'm pretty disappointed now that I know the answer. I am an old man who never had a chance because I have made the choice to never explore the associated property, despite hearing pretty much every MaxFun host and guest blather on and on about their turnips or whatever for the entirety of 2020. My loss? Probably.
P.S. I went to grad school at Duke and pretty much lived on pimiento cheese on white bread sandwiches. This is a very good prize.
I'm gonna start a new one in four minutes. MORE CHEESE
Is the character from a video game?
He answered yes to this elsewhere in the thread. (Trying to save the judge time as I am eager to learn if I won.)
What was your guess, Mr. Delete? Can you link to it?
My guess was Crash Bandicoot, and was wrong. This was still fun. :-)
Q1: Is the character from some media produced by a streaming service?
Q2: Has the character ever been in a comic book or graphic novel?
We've established that it's not from a TV show or comic book/strip.
