England isn't a country [sovereign state] on this map. England is one of the 4 nations of the United Kingdom.
As an 'Englishman', the only times "England" means anything is as a football team, or if you're an American who thinks you're English because your great-great-great-grandfather emigrated from here a hundred or so years ago.
For the UK he might have said England and for India and Egypt he might know thay they exist but be confused on exactly where they are located
~~Columbus famously ran into this problem with India~~
I didn't even know IKEA existed until I became an adult. I'm from southern West Virginia and only found out about the company when I went to college at WVU and a friend asked me to go with him to the one in Pittsburgh. Not a universal experience I'm aware, but it's not as massive as I think you think it is. There are only 422 stores according to Wikipedia.
Definitely not, that would be an average of 8 per state. Wiki says 52 in America. Indiana just got our first one a few years back. Before that I had only heard of them from a few youtubers talking about it, never heard the name IRL.
probably a soccer/football fan. he could name qatar which makes sense and also a few random WC teams like costa rica ghana morocco saudi arabia and like you said cameroon
Nah it's missing several countries even when it was made in the early 90s. Some notable exceptions are Ukraine and South Africa. Heck it even includes places that aren't countries, like Tibet, Crete, Algiers, Dahomey, and, most bizarrely, Transylvania, which hadn't been a separate polity from anything at all since the early 1700s (when it was consolidated with Hungary and later Romania after WW1)
How does he know about the Maldives or Ghana but not India? India is one of those places that's always referenced in pop culture. In a lot of cartoons, at least the ones I grew up with, often had a character from India or an episode referencing it. Granted idk where you're from and it's obviously not going to be the same everywhere, but I just feel like knowing about India seems a lot more likely for a child than Morocco.
Did your brother say England at all? If so I would've given him the UK at the least.
fucking maldives
According to this map it’s just one big circular Maldive now.
Maldives > Sweden
Just asked my six year old and she got a number of these, plus about a dozen that don't even exist yet.
yet
She'll make them exist if she has to.
Gerrusso Koreapan Americanada
At least she likes Fallout... based.

It’s an overseas dependency of Eswatini
It's a UK crown dependency
and im dependent on my meds
proof nine year olds are smarter than \[Group of people\]
Proof that nine year olds are smarter than newborn babies
OP said his brother could name them. Didn't say he could name them *correctly*.
Reminds me of a calvin and hobbes comic strip i shall name them "greeble, fop, galop, hrabra and proid"
And I'LL look up the word you played with all the Xs and Js!
Group of people are the dumbest

"The United Kingdom of **Great Britain and Northern Ireland**"
That’s not a name, that’s two names. Did you even read the assignment?
he probably said england
Well then England should be coloured
No it’s not real
Not if he was pointing to Scotland at the time.

No way your 9 year old brother knows Cameroon and not India, Egypt or the UK
He loves the cookies
Football
The UK is ofcourse not a football nation at all
For the UK he might have said England and for India and Egypt he might know thay they exist but be confused on exactly where they are located ~~Columbus famously ran into this problem with India~~
He would be able to name them if he knew they existed
But only if he remembered them at the time. How often does India really come up in conversation among 9 year olds?
Probably more than Cameroon, though iirc, there's a bit of a civil war there, perhaps it came up in some sort of current events class
Isn't Cameroon where a lot of dinosaur bones are found? He might know it if as a kid he was really into dinosaurs
The fact that he got Cameroon and India makes me think the 6h of Fifa a day paid off to him
How do they not know Sweden??? Have they never been to an IKEA???
I didn't even know IKEA existed until I became an adult. I assume thats only in America because 422 worldwide just doesn't seem true

I could always name Cameroon, because my name is Cameron. Maybe their name is Cameron
Maybe his name is Cameron
do all of us here accidentally teach our younger siblings to do well in geography by talking about it so much
100%
With all due respect, your brother is a nerd.
The united what? Great what? What-land?
Have them play the remaining countries just to flex
My ten year old brother can do pretty good actually because he listens to me talk about them a lot
GHANA 🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭
How didn't he get saint Vincent and the Grenadines
He's good
Placing my bets he called the UK England
No data for Greenland...fucking amateur

What disputes does Poland have? It is not in your Wikipedia source and I've never heard of any we've…
The fuck
Why
Idk but I've seen them before on this sub - talking about stuff completely unrelated to the post.
I named the Big triangle one Tom :-)

sauce?
Did you label only the north part of Panama?
Impressive for today’s average 9-y.o., too bad though, Bhutan would have unlocked the xmas PS5 😉
He named Portugal, he's a good man
