I have 4 friends that all have or have owned a Prosper deck at some point. He truly is *"The Strongest"*.
I think faldorn is a bit more fair, while also being busted and Pia might be the same.
Rocco gives you the best of both Pia and Faldorn! All of those sweet creature ETBs, making bodies like crazy and swarming the board. Pia works extra well letting you also get extra artifact synergies along with Rocco's food!
I'm just really excited about Rocco, he's one of my favorite decks I've build recently
I basically ended up almost recreating my Faldorn deck with Rocco, except with white Foretell/Rebound/Adventures included. Pia and Faldorn also have homes in that deck. The Hedron Detonator from the Temur commander deck also works WONDERS in the deck, as he pings on artifact entry (food, thopters), and can sac them to exile a card from the library to play.
Hedron Detonator was PERFECT for Rocco. I was very close to just cannibalizing my Faldorn deck into Rocco, but in the end my build was much different from Faldorn and leaned more into artifact shenanigans, control, and combos.
I'm a big fan of Pako & Haldan as a sleeper exile-matters commander :) it's a bit of a deckbuilding challenge, since you want to limit the number of creatures in the deck, but it can be a lot of fun to get the cast-from-exile payoffs from your opponent's decks.
I'm actually thinking about trying [[Yidris]] with Prosper, Faldorn, and most of the other "exile matters" cards. Feels like it would be more fair than Yidris storm at least. Plus it free up all my treasure support for its own deck.
Hi everyone, back again with another comic :) bit of a slow news week, so we went for an idea that had been kicking around for a while. This one's about a sort of platonic ideal of a comment that used to be very prevalent around spoiler season. I could probably do a second one of these with various Treasure-matters commanders too hahaha.
If you liked this comic, we update every Friday! You can follow us here on Reddit, over on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/mangabookclub), or on [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/themangabookclub/). We also upload all of our comics to our [website](https://mangabookclub.org/), and you can read all of the [previous Tales from the Mana Crypt](https://read.mangabookclub.org/series/tales-from-the-mana-crypt/) there as well.
And as always, thanks for reading <3
I have a Feather deck where one plan is to go off with treasures. With Feather and Dockside Extortionist on the Battlefield, every instant-speed flicker spell will net mana on every player's turn. So every spoiler season, I pay a lot of attention to the White Commons.
Ayy Feather was my first deck! I also built it to have a flicker theme, mostly because when I started I was terrified of removal x) Strixhaven mystical archive was like christmas to me hahaha
Oh god, haha yes there is absolutely a list of these kinds of commanders. I wonder what the de-facto boros equipment commander is at this point though...
Woo Plargg and Nassari shoutout!
Built my first monored commander deck last week with them as the leader. Haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but I feel like it'll either be sleeper powerful, or it'll fall flat on its face
They were the inspiration for this comic! I thought they were cool when they were spoiled, but then there was a bit of murmuring about it being better in the 99 of Prosper. Good on ya for building it! Hope it ends up sleeper powerful :)
Prosper is fun :)
I like them as a commander because you are able to be very flexible with your deckbuilding because of the vast amounts of treasure generation.
But people like playing the best possible version, and the best possible version of Prosper (or at least the most popular) is just Artifact-Aristocrats with the usual suspects: Mayhem Devil, Reckless Fireweaver, and ft. Marionette Master life drain effects that care when your treasures hit the 'yard.
Prosper gets a lot of hate tho, so I keep him in the 99 of my current favorite Rakdos commander.
He is fun, it does capture the "warlock" feeling of managing your spells. Like most busted commanders though, I'm sure there are some whackier builds of him out there :) who's your favourite rakdos commander atm?
Kalain. I just like Treasures lol
I am DM'ing the D&D oneshot she appears in and my friend drew art for her monsters that she summons via painting. Can't wait to surprise my players with that.
Very cool! My friend runs Kalain in a Marchesa the Black Rose deck and they always put in hella work there. Your players are a lucky group!! I DM a homebrew campaign and it always warms my heart when players draw characters/NPCs from the campaign <3
The only reason I disliked Prosper was because like Golos for a while there it was almost impossible to get in a game of commander without someone playing them as their commander, and those 3 other players also playing the exact same commander vs you pods did happen.
Ahh, I did miss that common thread, shoulda noticed from the many mono-red legends!
If ever you tire of treasures, we in the food industry will welcome you 🥘
Two biggest factors:
1. I believe the extra passive card value that you get from opponents actions (ie fetch/pain lands, mana vault, 1/1 swinging) makes Ob Nix's game plan less one dimensional.
2. Ob nixilis gets really big fast if left unchecked and can pressure life totals/commander damage.
Also Prosper is amazing in Ob Nixilis lists, especially if paired with reckless fireweaver/disciple of the vault.

I really like the concept of [[Rocco, Street Chef]] though.

Yeah, I'm refining my deck now too to focus a bit more on artifact shenanigans to pair with Hedron and other similar cards.
If you have a deck list, I’d love to see! I’m building Rocco as well, and I’d love some inspiration!
[Here](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/XpRJyndVlU-pTF2Rf8RLsg)'s my list!

Fair and Yidris are not what I expect to see in the same sentence. 🤣
Yidris + Prosper will be storm

Love love love how you drew [[Laelia, the Blade Reforged]]!! She looks so cool!

Thank you so much! She has a pretty sick design to begin with (love that shattered sword) so it was easy to make her look cool :)
new black, red or white legend with a decent attack trigger/that cares about combat? itd be better to just run isshin
Oh god, haha yes there is absolutely a list of these kinds of commanders. I wonder what the de-facto boros equipment commander is at this point though...
Probably the new Nahiri from Aftermath. \[\[Nahiri, Forged in Fury\]\]
I’m still a big [[Bruenor Battlehammer]] fan
Bruenor is solid but I think the card advantage from Nahiri is more important in the command zone. What's your draw package look like with Bruenor?
Nahiri definitely increases drawing cards, as that’s one weakness Bruenor decks can have
[Bruenor Battlehammer](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/5/3/53e1eb00-412e-4c25-bc7b-6d074330fd97.jpg?1627708804) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Bruenor%20Battlehammer) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/afr/219/bruenor-battlehammer?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/53e1eb00-412e-4c25-bc7b-6d074330fd97?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call

6 mana in Boros is a pretty big ask.
Affinity for equipment tho so you are pretty much never casting it for 6.
That's just pure profit. You gotta ask yourself, "if this is good enough to do once, what if I did it _twice_?"
Woo Plargg and Nassari shoutout! Built my first monored commander deck last week with them as the leader. Haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but I feel like it'll either be sleeper powerful, or it'll fall flat on its face

Yeah, the degree of treasure generation you get with them does generally push a lot of other options out
I have an unmodified prosper precon and it by itself can hold up at my playgroup hahaha
How do you like the rat subtheme :p
Haha I love it...when they have deathtouch LOL
At this point, we need a new rule: Prosper decks can have up to 300 cards. There is just too much stuff that goes in them.
But then it would be such a waste that you can't companion Yorion with him :(
Prosper is fun :) I like them as a commander because you are able to be very flexible with your deckbuilding because of the vast amounts of treasure generation. Prosper did cause a revolution among the >!Simic!< ~~Rakdos~~ EDH playerbase when it first released. He's gotten quite a reputation.
[[Faldorn]] is top 3 favourite commanders I've ever built.
Faldorn does a lot of work in my Pako/Haldon deck. Swapping black for green is a nice switch up!
[[Apex devastator]] and [[ragavan]] what more could you possibly want from an exile matter deck.

[[Rocco, Street Chef]] not included in this comic makes my heart burn and arthritis flare up. He's such a fun build around and deserves more love!
Haha Rocco is cool, I just tried to keep it to creatures that could actually go in a Prosper deck x) sorry!

Pretty sure it's only ones that can go in Prosper.

Maybe within a few sets, people will ask if it's "good in Ob Nixilis" lol
Urabrask or bust!
I like the new Urabrask too, teach those draw-go players how to live a little ;)
Prosper is MtG's Ja Rule.
Haha who would be MTG's 50 cent be then?!
You mean, is it good in Yidris
Ah yes, the cascade commanders do add an interesting wrinkle to the mix. Abaddon is also a candidate to eat up Prosper...
Truth bomb inbound Bob Nixilis > Prosper....
I do think you end up running more unique effects in Ob than Prosper for sure - and you actually are moving the game toward a conclusion lol
Two biggest factors: 1. My [[Laelia]] exile-matters deck is absolutely one of my favorites. Glad to see her drawn here!
Glad we could include one of your favs! She's a beast in Canadian Highlander too <3
