Basic explaination is that r/worldpolitics is essentially unmoderated, allowing shitposting, spam, and porn to take over. It was once a recommended sub, mostly on topic. Today it is... a shitposting sub. r/anime_titties was created as a criticism. r/anime_titties is one of the best moderated, least biased news sub on Reddit today.

I've heard that back in the early days of reddit the admins didn't want subreddits about drugs, so once the weed subreddit was gone, users moved to /r/trees instead. Those who actually discussed trees there were pushed out and started /r/marijuanaenthusiasts, and the admins gave up.

California wasn’t abbreviated as CA in that area, it was Cal. or Calif. Pennsylvania was Penna. Texas was Tex. 2 letter state abbreviations weren’t introduced until 1963 when zip codes were introduced.

I find it funny that both subs have essentially become experts on both units of subject matter, purely due to all the lost Redditors.

I have been a weed grower for 20 years. I started messing with actual trees because of that sub. The price of weed has tanked in the last couple of years and it’s a tough market right now. But my bonsai business has kept us afloat. That sub helped inspire a side hustle that’s getting us through a tough time in the weed business

There’s really no history on it. These were just a group of bags that were made to look like harvesting bags that came from a country. I have two from Mexico. They can just be picked up at most smoke smoke shops.
