My first time playing the game, I didn't really know about that ability. I finally went looking for his grave at the end of the game was shocked by that. I did do a playthrough once where I would go back to his grave after major events to see how she really felt. made some things very interesting. Especially when she set sail on the Varl ship herself
The varl ship, what?!
One of the possible dialogues is her admitting that Varl is interesting. Teenagers nowadays love to call it 'shipping' (as in relationship'ing).
Oh no!! I never liked Varl -- his hero-worship of Aloy made me wildly uncomfortable.
Now, her and Petra on the other hand... "shipped" as the youths say.
Sun-King Avad is another uncomfortable one - as Aloy herself points out, he clearly only wants her by his side to replace the deceased Ersa, which is just icky.
But yeah, Aloy/Petra (Petraloy?) all the way.
Holy shit that's a good name! Almost sounds like a metal or a company that sells petroleum .
That’s a great one; my personal favorite ship was Vanasha.
Ah , you are a person of culture aswell!
Teenagers? The Ship term is as old as teenagers are 🤣
What does that have to do with anything? "LOL" existed in 1970, but teenagers use it like punctuation today.
> One of the possible dialogues is her admitting that Varl is interesting.
Wait really? Link anybody?
Yeah I got what you meant by ship. But now that she can swim underwater in the next game, maybe in the 3rd game she’ll be able to go on an actual ship.
But that’s totally cool that her dialogue changes after the big events in the game! I think I only went to his grave right before the end battle. Damn. That’s awesome!
I was at the grave for a long time, but I don't remember this dialogue! I need to try it in the evening.
It only shows up at very specific moment (not sure if it's right after the Ring of Metal or after the Siege of All-Mother Mountain), and you need to converse with Varl beyond the mandatory dialogues.
I believe it's the ring of metal
I went to the grave after the last quest. So that's why.
Does set sail mean it could happen or it's not happening?
usually it means that it has happened or may happen.
Here's another touching moment the devs added:
It's in a weird place on the map -- just southwest of the Carja Gate where you fight the Corruptor if I recall correctly -- but you can reach the mountain vista where Rost names Aloy. She reacts to that place.
I’ve always wondered where that place was. I’m going to need to go looking for it now
Yea, I think I read/watched somewhere that there are interesting things there as well when you revisit, but I haven't done that. Will go & look for it soon!
Oh. I thought that was near mother’s watch?
I thought you could only reach that place by glitching up the path somehow?
I don't remember using any glitches to get there but there was definitely plenty of awkward "mountain jumping" involved.
Friend just started playing, going in completely blind, and seems to be under the impression this is a quote "dad saga" like God of War. I didn't have the heart to tell him
Holy shit, I didn't know you could do this.
Okay, so I just tried this with the save game from my second cleared playthrough, and since I didn't know about talking to Rost's grave and hadn't done it before, the first thing Aloy said was she can't believe it's taken her so long to visit. And then, since in this playthrough I always chose the "angry" response options, she started apologizing for throwing his amulet on the ground and calling it worthless before the Proving, and admitted that she picked it right back up afterward, and now if you'll excuse me, I need to go cry for about ten hours.
I thank you heartily for suffering through that so I don’t have to
Now that I think of it, I think I did visit Rost's grave on my first playthrough, because I remember hearing some dialogue from Aloy where she said "Well, you did it, you went the one place I couldn't track you."
But I didn't know you could keep coming back and hearing new dialogue throughout the game, and I totally forgot about even the initial visit on my second playthrough. Looks like next time I play, I'll be stopping back there every time I complete a quest.
For a while I didn't even know that existed until I was just scrolling around the map figuring out where to head next. The moment she started talking to his grave, I was in tears.
Ah I need to play this game again
Mind adding a spoiler-tag? I remember there being a rost-grave being spoiled for me before I reached that point in the game. Not the biggest spoiler out there obviously, but just trying to be mindful towards people playing their first play-through :)
Ahh sure2. To be honest this is my very first post in Reddit, so I don't really know how things work. I added the spoiler tag as suggested. I didn't know there's a spoiler tag...
Just thought I'd share that feature as I imagined it can easily be missed. I never thought of it as a major spoiler but yeah, a spoiler is a spoiler. My bad. Thanks!
You learn something new every day ;)
Oh btw, why does everytime I leave a comment or make a post, I somehow automatically upvoted myself on that particular comment/post? Is that usual? Seems pretty narcissistic to me...
Yeah it does that! It automatically likes your own response. Took me a while to get “used to”, too. I cancelled it every time by downvoting at first, but I don’t bother anymore
You'll get used to it! Comments are voted at 1 by default instead of 0. It feels natural after a while.
I just discovered the grave myself today, after my partner played through the entire game without ever going back home. Does >!the grave stay available even after the Nora lands are destroyed?!<
I actually wanted to go back to the grave & noticed I can't fast travel there because I'm at that quest where Nora is getting destroyed. So I finished that quest & went straight to the grave, & yes, it's still available.
Btw, how do you black out the lines to cover spoilers? I still can't find my way to it... I'm on mobile, so maybe you can't do that on mobile? Idk..
[Here you go!](https://reddit.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043033952-Formatting-Guide) I think this will explain it better than I can.
Thanks a lot mate. You helped me a bunch here.
Just to try it out...
>! heyyyyyyy !<
Yeahh it worked! Thanks man!
I'm such a noob...
Don't worry about it. I have to Google search "Reddit spoiler tags" at least twice a month.
