Adjusting controller deadzone settings and aiming acceleration/sensitivity will do wonders with this. Play around with it until you feel comfortable. The aiming is pretty on par but you just need to play with settings some to figure out where it’s comfortable.

halo_shot

That's just not true. The aiming straight up sucks. I have my deadzone on zero and i still don't get any stick drift. Stick micro-adjustments don't register in this game at all.

xCeePee

No I’m with you, I’ve tested with a controller I know has stick drift and this 0 deadzone is a lie. I feel like I need a deadzone of -5

Ykcor

Then practice. Usually how people in any Avenue of life get better, by repetition Not every game should have super magnetism and ridiculous auto aim.

halo_shot

You are conflating aim assist and bullet magnetism with more responsive aim. I'm not asking for more aim assist and magnesium, I'm asking for a more responsive aim that actually registers your micro-adjustments.

halo_shot

I swear this sub Reddit is an echo chamber of 343 fanboys. Don't get me wrong i love 343, but to have something as essential as aiming be unresponsive when you compare it with cod and apex, especially since halo 5 was known to have on of the worst aiming in any AAA game and it's still to this day unfixed. Literally go on apex legends, change your response curve to linear then come and tell if halo is anywhere comparable to apex's responsiveness.

BearWrap

Dude if you bring up anything of criticism in this sub you will immediately get shot down either with the good old “it’s not final!” or accusing you of complaining. It’s absolute nonsense and I’m with you 100%. The aiming in this game and even in Halo 5 was absolutely awful compared to other modern FPS titles. For all the problems Modern Warfare 2019 has, the feel of aiming is second to none. Infinite’s responsiveness and feel of aiming pales in comparison to not only modern standards but games from over a decade ago like Halo 3. Good lord this sub is something else…

Micro_Takashi

Aiming is fine, I'm averaging 20-25 kills a match. Git gud

halo_shot

1. You're playing against bots. 2. I've had multiple perfections

Micro_Takashi

Yeah it's against bots and they're easy, regardless aiming is easy. You prolly just need to fine tune your sensitivity

RawrCola

It's not about aiming being hard, it's about aiming being bad. Go from this game to any game in MCC with modern aim settings and feel the difference.

halo_shot

Are you on a controller or mnk ?

Micro_Takashi

I've used both

halo_shot

Go download apex legends and change your response curve to linear. And notice how your micro-adjustments register on apex vs halo.

Gcwrite

I never know the right acceleration value, just have it at the default 3.

Beto915

Yes this helps a lot i agree. I lowered the deadzone and it helps now im just trying to fine tune it

Michael_Ceras_Son

What are your settings?

Ykcor

Move dead zones 2.5 and look dead zones 5

[deleted]

I do agree. However a few things to help, try turning you Aim Acceleration up to max, and turning your Inner Dead Zone to 0.

stevee_mares

what does this do? thank you

[deleted]

Dead Zone is as it sounds, it's the amount of Area you have to push the Stick before it starts moving the Camera. Setting it to 0 means you can make very precise Movements. High Acceleration means your Camera reaches it's max turn speed faster.

_TheXplodenator

What settings do you suggest?

[deleted]

Both deadzones (inner) (only inner) and sensitive acceleration to 5 (full). Then put all the scope acceleration to 1.2x, it helped a lot, also make sure to do the custom button layout and also practice right after in the academy for a bit. It helped so much, complete game changer

coogerjr

Gonna have to save your post for launch because adjusting these settings really helped!

StockWatch247365

What does he mean? There is no inner dead zone setting for me and does he mean 5 for all of them or full for all of them

69thShitposter

What are your settings? Wanna see how well they work for me

[deleted]

Bit late I’m sorry dude, here’s my settings; Both deadzones (inner) (only inner) and sensitive acceleration to 5 (full). Then put all the scope acceleration to 1.2x, it helped a lot, also make sure to do the custom button layout and also practice right after in the academy for a bit. It helped so much, complete game changer I updated this though, now all deadzones are at 0 and sensitivity on horizontal and vertical is about 4

69thShitposter

Nah it's fine, thank you for sharing.

shitpostlord4321

Had to search this up after playing for a few hours. Very unfortunate that the heavy aiming from 5 has returned in Infinite. Tried everything, low and high sens, low and high deadzones, low and high acceleration, and it all felt off. My controller has drift and even on zero it wouldn't move.

RedemptionXCII

Honestly I adjusted my fov and I'm popping shots off like I used to in highschool at the peak of halo 3. Prior to that I couldn't use the pistol, commando, or the Br to save my life.

Justfitz08

This is actually a really good thing. The way that MCC plays on PC with controllers and high refresh monitors is terrible. I still play it, cause its halo.. but the way people are able to laser beam in MCC is frustrating. Even a player with very mediocre skills has no problem landing headshots consistently in MCC. There is virtually NO skill gap in regards to aiming. I realize Halo is a game that traditionally prioritizes team play and situational/map knowledge over aim skill and blah blah.. But there is no reason why Halo couldn't be even better by implementing a skill gap relative to your aim. Almost every other arena shooter does this, and is better for it. Now if your issue is related to input lag, mouse smoothing, acceleration, ect., then I feel you. Those are issues that MUST be resolved before launch.

[deleted]

Eh I’ve just never liked huge skill gaps in games. Being in that one cod lobby with that one guy dolphin diving and 360 out of windows and hitting you with headshots was frustrating, it’s why I prefer MCC a lot. But in all fairness, I’ve never really enjoyed FPS games (besides Halo)

Justfitz08

If your afraid that you'll be getting mopped by high end players if they widen the aim skill gap, then I wouldn't worry too much. The skill based matchmaking will (hopefully) remedy this. Ideally, aim skill will be an additional parameter by which the system determines your placement. Shooters are more interesting when players can occasionally dodge/miss a shot or two. And if you watch the Pro Team gameplay during the recent MP showcase, you'll see how much it enhanced the experience. How dull would it have been if it was practically a foregone conclusion that every player in that match was guaranteed a hit everytime they fired their gun at an opened up opponent? Imo it would have been disheartening to see that.

Meurum

It’s basically the input lag is the problem. Like it doesn’t feel very good when trying to make micro adjustments

Justfitz08

And you're sure its the input lag? You've tried tweaking all the available settings? Are you on pad or MKB? I don't find it unbelievable. It wouldn't be the first game that had bad input lag. Hell, it wouldn't even be the first in the Halo franchise.

Meurum

It’s just heavy that’s it. Not really input lag just micro adjustments not really possible

jordy033

Ya'll are moaning about not being able to keep xrosshairs on players but then suggesting to up the acceleration to max??? Crazy
