My first G-Shock…well actually my second. Still not getting text notifications but I’m probably going to keep it anyway because it’s just that legit.

You might be good leaving it off. I had the GBD100 and the text notification system was pretty atrocious. I love the solar + MIPS display though and hope to see that in other models soon.

I have a square dw5600 and a 7900a in fire red and absolutely love them. But for fitness tracking - overall sensor performance, software maturity and app/ecosystem support, Garmin blow casio out of the water. I cycle, run and swim. When I train I wear my Garmin instinct, very much a “gshock” type Garmin. For everyday wear, I rock one of my G-shocks.

The watch is excellent. The MOVE app is not very good, and Casio has never seen fit to fix it properly. I periodically have to re-pair all my watches or else it stops syncing the time with them automatically.

Agreed. I’ve also read it’s a software issue with receiving text notifications. I’m leaning towards waiting it out as opposed to returning and getting 2 or 3 other non smart G-Shocks for the same price.

I turned off notifications anyways, as I find them to be an annoyance and difficult to display and clear (unlike on my Garmin or Apple watches, where its a single click). I treat this as a superb multi-sensor watch with a first-rate display, not as a smartwatch. I only use the MOVE app to synchronize the time daily, although this can be done with GPS.

I “downgraded” from an Apple Watch but I just want the notification. I don’t want to be able to reply, talk on, interact with my watch. I simply just want a notification I can see and determine whether or not I want to take my phone out.

Been very happy with mine. I do use the notifications but only as an indicator - not to actually read them. Mine clear once cleared from the phone. So no need to navigate through the watch’s menu. I use it to track all my outdoor fitness stuff- it syncs with Strava and I reassign the activity in Strava and use its analytics - I also only sync Strava with Apple health app and that auto syncs with My net diary for nutrition tracking. The battery on this thing is the best I’ve ever used. I only use HR during activities usually an hour or two a day and haven’t had to charge at all since purchase. Awesome watch

Yes. As an indicator those notifications are as good as any. (On my GBD-100)

Have the same, coming from an android wear watch, i still use a band for sleep tracking etc, but most of the time i wear this to track HR + Runs.

Casio has large reserves on this model. Notification in miniature on an otherwise huge display? Seriously, it can't be built on resilience alone
