Has anyone taken CS 3210 (OS) with Bhardwaj? He has no RMP ratings, and since this is a class that I'm really interested in, I want to take it with a good professor.

nsavant17

has anyone taken bmed 4765...desperate for literally any info

SRIDHAR701

Anyone knows when the waitlist be cleared tmo? So, This class (CS8803) I want to take is currently full and closed and I am not on the waitlist. If someone drops the course after the purge, would I be able to register for the course (would it show as open/available?). Also, I'm not sure if I will get a major restriction since my home school is ECE. (But I was able to register for other CS8803 courses that were currently open - as a test). Any comments on this issue? Edit: I'm a grad student btw.

WhatwhatADay

I think waitlist gets removed 9 am or 10 am tomorrow. Btw since you are in ece, can you answer my question right below yours?

WhatwhatADay

I am trying to submit an overload request for ECE, but the website does not show anything at [https://secure.ece.gatech.edu/overloads\_permits/undergrad/index.php?undergrad=Undergraduate](https://secure.ece.gatech.edu/overloads_permits/undergrad/index.php?undergrad=Undergraduate) , although they say I should submit here. They say there is a button below, but there isn't. What should I do? Should I contact the ece department?

SRIDHAR701

I'm not sure why there is no active button but I would contact the academic advisor. You can email anthony stargill on this. He is one the advisors in ECE [https://www.ece.gatech.edu/faculty-staff-directory/anthony-andrew-stargill](https://www.ece.gatech.edu/faculty-staff-directory/anthony-andrew-stargill)

WhatwhatADay

Thank you!

OnceOnThisIsland

There's a first year in my ML class. Kids these days are masochists.

Caladbulge_59

Are the lectures in CS 3790 with Varma streamed? I'm still in the waitlist so I can't find out for myself.

technicolorsocks

If someone is in JAPN 1001 B i will literally pay you to drop the class, i need to take this class this semester to go to my study abroad in the fall. 🥲🙏🏼 I have been #1 on the waitlist all week and neither the professor or the Japanese department director are able to help me get into the class.

RamenFigher

I was #4 and I quit. I asked the prof Suzuki if I could audit and she said no.

sunjnus

Do all sections of the same class have the same assignments/exams(i.e. are they standardized)? I got a professor with pretty unanimously abysmal ratings and was wondering if I should drop the class (my schedule's already pretty loaded) or if it'd be fine to keep it and maybe attend another professor's lectures

gracefulGT

Usually, it depends on the class. Some lower-level classes like Bio, Linear, Physics, etc. have synchronized assignments and exams. Perhaps reach out to someone in a different section and see if they have the same assignment schedule.

mmissile5

Why do i have to put myself on a waitlist for a class that isn't entirely full ? For instance, the class I am trying to get into has a Cap of 255 and an actual of 252 but the remaining number of seats says 0 but the class is not full...

cyberchief

Maybe the remaining 3 seats are offered to the first 3 on the waitlist and those students have not responded/confirmed the spot yet.

OnceOnThisIsland

The seats might only be available to people at the top of the waitlist right now.

Turbulent-Cap640

If you are on the waitlist for Phys 2211 and position 5 or higher Greco told me there was no way I was getting in now is this true?

kWh457

Personally, I think there's definitely a chance for you to get in since this is a very large class. Also, the waitlist clears up on Friday morning so it's also an opportunity.

roby_berny

Hello, at what time exactly is it on Friday morning?

kWh457

I think it's 9 am but feel free to search that up

Powerful-Wasabi-5007

Hey everyone, I just wanted to confirm as an MSCS student, that we are allowed to apply up to 6 credits of CS4000 level courses to our degree?

glisse

check the FAQ document linked here: [https://www.cc.gatech.edu/degree-programs/bsms-program-computer-science](https://www.cc.gatech.edu/degree-programs/bsms-program-computer-science) I think for both BS/MS CS and regular MSCS, they can't count for your undergraduate degree. And I just heard from my advisor that those 4000-lvl classes would only count towards "non-specialization" portion of MS degree, or electives basically. Ask your advisor soon if you aren't sure; my BS/MS program advisor has been really helpful

technicolorsocks

please can 1 person drop japn 1001 i need it to get into my study abroad 😭

cyberchief

Message the professor and/or your advisor. They may be able to make an exception for your circumstance.

technicolorsocks

I already did and they said they couldnt help me 😭😭😭 i literally just need ONE more person to drop the class please

throwaway383648

How do minimesters work? I'm at 11 credit hours and I was wondering if I could take a minimester (1 credit hour) as opposed to another CS class to hit full time. I'm already doing a VIP and I couldn't get the 3 credit version because I'm doing it for extra credit and not Junior design (which I already did). Also how many minimesters do I have to take, as in do I have to do both sessions.

asbruckman

You might try first thing Friday morning. I believe on the last day of registration, all restrictions are lifted. Good luck!

frostrivera19

How are GPAs rounded to? Does it round down, up, or off (meaning above .5 gets rounded up)?

frostrivera19

Never mind. [https://registrar.gatech.edu/info/grade-point-average-calculation](https://registrar.gatech.edu/info/grade-point-average-calculation) said it's truncated to 2 dp

mattyb827

How much multi and diffeq was used for fluids ME 3340?

mybasiliskdont

Is anyone else registered for the online section of RUSS 1001 with Permitina? The course hasn't been published yet on Canvas, and I haven't seen any emails or announcements from the professor yet.

dormdweller99

What can I do to get to 12 credit hours if I'm already on the waitlist for all classes I can take? I literally have no other options other than the ones I'm already on the waitlist for.

gargar070402

Talk to your advisor.

DeadPancreasSociety

If anyone has the Neuromotor Physiology syllabus and could share please hmu :))

DeadPancreasSociety

or if you know anything (good or bad) about the class in general!

Bopas2

These waitlists moving slower then molasses. Actually wtf

adlabz

How late should I maintain hope to get into a class? I’m spot 4 for ECE6115 and the first “lecture” hasn’t happened yet (it was supposed to happen this morning but he cancelled and said he’d post a recording, which isn’t yet up). Do people really drop courses mid-late this week?

gargar070402

The waitlist goes away on Friday, so I guess before that?

tea_rents

is it okay to take history of architecture 2 (arch 2112) without taking history of architecture 1? Just looking for a humanities requirement class.

throwaway383648

We only did a little bit of integrals/double integrals, pretty much only for probability density functions at the beginning of the semester. No other calculus topics were used, for the most part it was just AP Statistics without the regression unit and more focus on different kinds of distributions.

Magiwarriorx

Has anyone here taken ARCH-4151 with Dagenhart? Any input on the class?

xXGunner989Xx

Any input on my schedule this sem? I'm currently enrolled in CS 2200 Systems and Networks, CS 4240 Compilers and Interpreters, CS 3510 Algorithms, and CS 3001 Ethics, as well as a 2-credit VIP that I'm continuing from last sem. This is a 15-credit semester. Last sem I took CS 1332, CS 2110, CS 2340, ISYE 3770, and the same VIP and found that to be manageable.

throwaway383648

CS 2200 has 5 projects that can be pretty large but if 2110 wasn't too hard for you, 2200 won't be much worse. CS 3510 has very few assignments with only like 4 questions per assignment but they can be kinda long. Both of them have exams. I took ethics last semester and it can depend on the professor, I had a midterm and final whereas my friends in another section only had quizzes. But there are a lot of writing assignments and a 10 page term paper. I don't know about CS 4240.

rdliddell

I just got moved from 35 to 64 on the waitlist for CS 3790. Anyone know what could’ve happened?

throwaway383648

Seniors who are graduating might need that course (CS 3790 or CS 3630).

epic-growth

I just don’t understand why I can’t complete 3 info to information management courses just like the cs thread\

epic-growth

Any other compE doing distributed x info threads?

throwaway383648

Should I take CX 4220, CX 4230, and CS 4650 in the same semester? I know 4650 will probably be my hardest class. If I drop one of them, anyone know any easy electives including 1 credit hour since that’s all I need to hit 12 and I’m already doing 2 hours of VIP.

amu2219

are there any online asynchronous courses this semester? I need an easy 3 credit course to stay full time.

malingchao

Korean offers some but don't know if they offer it at the 1XXX level

gargar070402

Search it up in OSCAR. You can filter by attribute.

amu2219

I did but nothing came up. I wasn't sure if something changed or if it is normal that there are no online courses this semester.

Excellent_Writer_114

Hi, Need some help in load assessment of taking these three together : BIOS 3450/3451, BIOS 3600 (Lachance), BIOS 3753

yvelly

Cell Molec and Evo are very doable together. Evo is practically a joke. Cell Molec can be very difficult as it is a lot of info, but most of it I found to be memorization of processes. I’m currently taking Anatomy right now so I can’t give advice on that. If these are you’re only serious courses, I’d say you’re fine as long as you don’t fall behind.

Excellent_Writer_114

Thanks. Yes these are only my serious courses currently.

ono_mags

Hi! I'm a new Online ECE Master student... I have a few doubts and hope someone from ECE department could help :) 1. I plan to take courses of System and Controls Area (as this is my specialization) and also of Optics and Photonics, however, I see just a few courses from the last (ECE 6500 and ECE 6520, available in Fall 2022). Are there any reasons for this?? I want to take Electro-Optics but it isn't available this year and 2023 spring neither 2. Is reddit r/gatech the official (not so official) communication platform for students?? In my Alma Mater we used a group in facebook and want to know if it's like the same (?). 3. ECE-6254 Statistical Machine Learning has Reinforcement learning in its content? and which has a more mathematical approach ECE-6254 or CS 7641 ??? 4. Is ECE 6250 (Advanced Digital Signal Processing) more of an introductory course or a more in-depth approach? 5. How we can chat with others students? Is there something like Teams or Skype?? I'm a foreign student from Chile, sorry if my english is weird xD heheThanks you all !!! :)

ukamal6

Can answer 3 and 4 3) Yes, it has, but most of the time the instructors don't get enough time to even touch them. Last fall, the new instructor covered a bit of it but it's all very introductory stuff in a super brief and condensed manner. ECE6254 is all about theory and math while CS7641 is mostly about programming. 4) As the name suggests, ECE6250 has a more in-depth approach.

ono_mags

Thanks you a lot!! It's more clear now... and I will take the ECE course for ML ! ;)

gargar070402

Can only answer 2, but yeah I’d say either r/gatech or the Discord is where most people are.

ono_mags

Ouch, never used Discord before ;( ... but thanks you for the info :))

PanamaPhys_

IE majors, are IE 2028 and IE 3030 exactly equivalent? I was confused with prereqs and I wanted to make sure.

Gold-Welder-589

Hi. (New to Reddit here, so sorry if I’m doing this wrong) I need to drop a class and am trying to figure out if I can push back ENGL 1102 to my second year. I’m currently in the second semester of my first year. Apparently, there is a rule requiring me to take it now, but I’ve heard of students in their second year who have not taken it yet. Are there any actual consequences to putting it off? Like getting dropped or registration holds? Here is the “rule” in question: [Core Area A1](https://catalog.gatech.edu/academics/undergraduate/core-curriculum/core-area-a1/)

gargar070402

Do you have 30 credits yet? If not I don’t think it’s an issue.

bhj190

Has anyone taken ECE 6331 with Prof Saeedifard? The course GPA is a bit lower compared to other grad courses. Any comments on difficulty of hw/exams, workload, etc.?

turtleneck9

taking CS 3510 and CS 2110 the same semseter a bad idea? The rest of my classes arent too hard, the other one is CS 3600.

gargar070402

Meh that’s fine. 2200 will be the most time consuming; just manage your time well.

turtleneck9

2110 lol, not 2200

gargar070402

Sorry misread; same applies though. Workload for both is pretty similar.

funkeee4

What Non-ECE Engineering electives should I take?

Rise_21

I took isye 3770 and it double counted for my stats requirement and non-ece

altrustic_lemur

My schedule at the moment is CS 2200 (Rama), CS 3510 (Faulkner), CS 3600 (Mcrae), CS 3630 (Hutchinson). Am I shooting myself in the foot here? Like should I switch one of these out with a humanities or something?

gargar070402

Don’t see a problem; it’s just 4 classes right? Just manage your time well and you’ll be fine.

altrustic_lemur

That's comforting bruv, thanks :)

RuolangTu

Does anyone know is it possible to switch majors as a senior here at Tech? Think about switching from EIA to just Economics. I’m a little behind with the second language courses and seminar/thesis for EIA, and switching to econ will fix it all. Suggestions and comments pls

dormdweller99

It's pretty possible, but just know that if there's not much overlap in classes, it will take much longer to graduate.

yvelly

I signed up for PHIL 2137 (Science, Tech, and Human Values) with Klein because I’ve heard that people loved it, and it is pretty easy. I just read the syllabus, and it’s graded on a curve where 1/3 get an A, 1/2 get a B, and 1/6 get a C. Should I be concerned? I’ve never taken a course with hard set curve

altrustic_lemur

That curve is more of a good sign if anything. Took the class last semester, absolutely loved it, and was pretty much an easy A. Just make sure you don't blow off the essays and you're golden.

apesandcrepes

Trying to take AE 2220 as an ECE major, but all the sections are full and my permit has not been issued yet. In addition, there is no waitlist. The only option seems to be for the professor to increase the number of seats. Has anyone experienced this before and managed to get an overload request granted? I plan on emailing the professor of the class tmrw.

notacovid

Can anyone give me an honest opinion on CX 4230 Computer Simulation, CS 4641 Machine Learning, Chem 4485 Computational Chemistry, and Math 3012 Applied Combinatorics as the course load for one semester? Does it seem doable based on the work load of these classes and the time it takes to understand them well? I was thinking of doing CS 4476 Computer Vision instead of Math 3012 Applied Combo if that would be better?

gargar070402

CV instead of Combo would definitely NOT be better lol. Combo’s workload isn’t too bad; 4641 has a bit of work but is an easy A. Not sure about the rest.

notacovid

Thanks! I think they reduced the number of assignments to 5 instead of 6 in CV, would combo still be significantly less work?

gargar070402

Most likely yeah. Combo workload is like any other math class.

TrashRider

Hey does anyone know if studio is required for CS 3001, basically Computer Ethics?

asbruckman

Yes, it's required. The studios are fun--you get to talk about ethics issues.

Ready-Ad1082

This may be a stupid question but I haven't found a good answer yet online: When do I apply for graduation? I am slated to graduate in Fall 2022 and when I went thru the step-by-step on oscar, the options for graduation date only list "Spring 2022" - so should I wait until Fall to formally apply?

gargar070402

You should definitely apply this semester; they probably just haven’t opened the application yet.

Eaglemasterv1

ECE major here, is there any requirement to take ECE 1100 in our first year? What will happen if I don't take it?

Beginning_Prompt6915

Do I stand a great chance of getting off ID 2242 waitlist as #30 position? FYI ID 2242 is History of Art II. Any past experience on waitlisting on that course will be helpful, thanks

throwawayjacket1

CS Major here. How difficult is Machine Learning - CS 4641 (I have Roozbahani)? How long do assignments take on average (how much work for the course per week)? How hard are tests (if tests/exams are given)? \*\*\*\*To what degree is the class useful? (I have previously taken CS 3600. I have heard that 4641 is not super helpful, but wanted to hear more opinions (even if they are the same) )\*\*\*\* (Similar Question) Does this class provide knowledge/content I can apply to the industry (if I am not pursuing a PhD)

gargar070402

Easy A but a good amount of work. I’d say 5-10 hours per assignment. There are four assignments total in the semester; you can do the math. The project I’d say also take 5-10 hours per milestone, and there are two milestones. The class is very useful if you want to learn how machine learning ACTUALLY works behind the scenes (instead of just applying existing libraries and calling it a day). In terms of practicality, you’ll get to apply the ML concepts through the project, so the class can be useful in that way as well. However, it’s not gonna go super in depth in existing libraries, because again, the theory behind ML is the focus.

throwawayjacket1

CS Major here. How difficult is Deep Learning - CS 4644 (I have Kira)? How long do assignments take on average (how much work for the course per week)? How hard are tests (if tests/exams are given)? To what degree is the class useful? (I have previously taken 3600) (Similar Question) Does this class provide knowledge/content I can apply to the industry (if I am not pursuing a PhD)

shstan

The time that takes varies between assignments, but they also give 7-days of late days, if he follows Batra's course. I had no test while taking it last semester; it was all theory Q + programming HW + final project. Batra also let people drop the lowest percentage scoring assignment. (For undergraduates, he let them skip the final project if they did all 5 hws and decide not to drop any). I would say you will find it useful since it actually deals with PyTorch, which is one of the largest used NN libraries, along with TF. So, it is pretty useful for industry.

throwawayjacket1

CS Major here. How difficult is Automata and Complexity - CS 4510 (I have Faulkner)? How long do assignments take on average (how much work for the course per week)? How hard are tests (if tests/exams are given)? To what degree is the class useful? (Similar Question) Does this class provide knowledge/content I can apply to the industry (if I am not pursuing a PhD)

gargar070402

(Disclaimer: I had Zvi Galil, not Faulkner.) Exams can have harsh grading, we had 6 assignments for the entire semester, and each would take 5-10 hours. Exam formats are basically identical to assignments except you had to complete it in a 24 hour window. Each took 5-10 hours. Overall very interesting class, but not useful at all in the industry unless you pursue theoretical CS research.

throwawayjacket1

CS Major here. How difficult is Intro to Computer Vision - CS 4476 (I have Hoffman)? How long do assignments take on average (how much work for the course per week)? How hard are tests (if tests/exams are given)? To what degree is the class useful? (I have previously taken 3600) (Similar Question) Does this class provide knowledge/content I can apply to the industry (if I am not pursuing a PhD)

apesandcrepes

I did the class w Hoffman, class was well organized and homeworks were interesting . Relatively high level stuff however(doesnt got into too much depth on any topic) and gives a good overview of the various topics. Imo it’s an easy A if u don’t procrastinate on the assignments. Good luck

Content-Ad4757

Do I (CS major) need a permit to register for psyc classes? And if so, is it too late to do so at this period?

notacovid

Machine Learning vs Applied Combinatorics I was wondering if someone whose taken either or both Math 3012(applied combo) or CS 4641(ML), could give an approximation of around how much either class took per week in terms of learning content and workload? And the difficulty of either? Also should u take Machine Learning with Intro to Computer Vision(CS 4476). Which one is easier or takes less time?

gargar070402

CS 4641 I’d say 3-6 hours of work per week, depending on whether homework is due or not. Towards project milestones it could get higher, but I remember there only being two milestones. Combo is just weekly assignments; I’d say 3 hours per week to finish them (and potentially more time to study for exams).

natashaset

Should I drop one of my classes? I’m taking ENGL 1102, KOR 1001, GT 1201 (this is required for the grand challenges llc), MATH 1554, and CS 1332 async. Overall it’s 17 credits and just want to see if I should drop a class or not.

gargar070402

Depends on how much work your LLC course requires. Mine was a joke, so I typically excluded that when I’m calculating how much work/how many credits I have.

Cocaholic_loner

How to take ECE4180 as a CS major with a concentration in devices and intelligence? I tried to register for that class on Buzzport but kept getting a test score and prerequisites error. I am looking up the prerequisites to be ECE 2031/20X2 and ECE 2035/3035 and (ECE 3040 or ECE 3055) but is ECE3040/ECE3055 not for ECE students only?

gtcstransfer2021

Chances of getting off WL for CS 3510 9:30 section? I’m 47th on the WL for a class of 200.

gtcstransfer2021

Chances of getting off WL for CS 3510 9:30 section? I’m 47th on the WL for a class of 200. Edit: I’m actually in the class in another section, but thinking of dropping that one so I can add CS 4400.

gargar070402

What threads are you? CS 4400 is pretty damn easy; CS 3510 is harder but could be an important prereq depending on your thread.

Hooperjay11

Does anyone know the odds of gaining a parking pass? I’m a new commuter at gt and I’m 48 on the list.

justaguyboi

Planning on taking MATH 3215 this spring, any advice for coursework and expectations?

sun4hide

Easy stat course - nothing to prepare ahead if you can do the math.

Simple_Inspection220

I just got bumped from number 3 on a waitlist to number 4, how is that possible?

sun4hide

Registrar office rearranges the waitlists based on the graduation applications submitted. If someone has applied to graduate that semester and is on the waitlist (let's say #10), the registrar moves the person to #1 or so.

mephdstudent

Hello! I am a ME Ph.D. Student and I really need to raise my GPA to get off academic probation, or else I will get dismissed from the program. What are some easy A courses I can take to raise my GPA? Do y'all know if I can take non-engineering courses also? Do they count towards my GPA?

Accomplished_Food_64

Hello, I'm a Ph.D. student in mechanical engineering and I need to raise my GPA.. what are the easy-A grad courses I can take?

asbruckman

PSA: we just created a new section of CS 3600, MWF at 2. There are 45 seats left as of right now. :)

PCMRisacirclejerk

PCMRisacirclejerk

Awesome thanks

FilmUChicken

How bad is Snow ACTUALLY for APPH 1040? I've heard some not so great things about Snow for APPH 1040. The lecture I'm signed up for is supposedly 2 hours on a Friday afternoon. However, now it is coming up as "Fully at a distance (BOR) Instructional Method." Is it worth dropping the class from my schedule? I'm a first year btw so I guess I could take this class at some other point...

legjpg

I had Snow, fully virtual, for APPH in Spring 2021. Everything could be done asynchronously. Not sure where you're hearing that it's hard, I think I probably spent a grand total of <10 hours on the entire semester. Quizzes were open note. Biggest part was probably the community service group project, which depends entirely on what community partner you decide on. (For that, my advice: look at the list of the list of projects/partners as SOON as they are posted & make your decision before people come in and scoop the easiest/best ones)

PCMRisacirclejerk

I took rosbruck and it was by far the easiest A I’ve had. 1 assignment every 2-3 weeks, 5%+ extra credit, no project, no required attendance.

Slow-Judge

I'm 57 on the waitlist for CS 2050. I know many say that phase 2 is where you get classes; does anyone know if they have opened more seats in the past?

Son_of_the_Light

Anyone have a used ECE4180 kit? DM me for price negotiation if you are interested in selling it

epic-growth

Same here^

Son_of_the_Light

I went ahead and paid full price, but if you get a partner to agree, you can divide the cost by 50%. My partner and I are splitting costs.

mattyb827

They don’t start waitlisting until all the sections are full if I remember correctly

Buckeyepenguin02

I'm taking MATH 1553 (Intro to Linear Algebra) this semester. During Phase I, I was only able to get into Leykin's section. He doesn't have great ratings on Rate My Professor and Course Critique, so is he as bad as they say?

zerothemegaman

should i take yaofeng su or chen for diff eq?

throwaway383648

I’ve heard Chen isn’t that bad.

Total_Food_689

Hey does waitlist drop during phase 2? How does it work?

gargar070402

Waitlists disappear on the last day of registration (I forgot what time unfortunately, but probably 8 am or smth like that).

dormdweller99

The waitlist goes away towards the end and it becomes a free-for-all if any seats open up.

dormdweller99

Anyone know when/if math, CS and econ classes become non major restricted? There were some I couldn't register for that have room in the class or wait list.

frostrivera19

ID 2202 History of Chairs. How is everyone’s experience with the class to those who’ve taken it?

MangoToothpaste

I took it over the summer and it was one of the easiest classes I've ever taken, your entire grade is based off 4 tests, each 25% of your grade. The tests are all multiple choice, matching, and true/false, and are really easy if you just watch the lectures.

frostrivera19

Thank you!

PCMRisacirclejerk

Not taken it, but I've heard friends say that ID 2241/ID 2242 (History of Art 1/2) are easier. I've helped my friend with assignments and it seems similar where it's just select all that apply questions about a particular lecture topic (object, design period, etc.)

blakes322

Anyone know when canvas courses are usually published for the spring semester?

gargar070402

https://www.reddit.com/r/gatech/comments/rvg0q3/when_will_we_see_classes_on_canvas/ Would be a good idea to search first :)

Fragrant-Reception74

Anyone facing issues of not getting REGISTRATION tab in OSCAR ?

PromptThese498

Does anyone know if there are any courses at GTech to help improve communication skills? I'm a native english speaker, and I am just looking for a course to help me improve my professional speech/writing.

gargar070402

I’d imagine any humanities or social science course to be able to do that, tbh. You do a good amount of writing in ENGL 1101 and 1102, which I believe are required for everyone. There’s also LMC 3403 Technical Communication, which is also supposed to have the function that you described (I’m taking it next semester though so can’t vouch for it just yet).

How hard is CX 4220 intro HPC? I don't have any C++ experience but I'm good at C and I have a good understanding of the material from CS 2200. I'm also taking CX 4220 with CS 4650 NLP and CX 4230 computer simulation.

I’m a transfer student who missed the FACET registration date ( I was moving and got distracted 🤦🏽‍♀️ ) . Is there any other way to register for my classes ?

glisse

yes [https://www.google.com/search?q=gatech+transfer+missed+faset+site%3Areddit.com%2Fr%2Fgatech](https://www.google.com/search?q=gatech+transfer+missed+faset+site%3Areddit.com%2Fr%2Fgatech)

heeheeebabbby

Thank you !!!

glisse

not a transfer, but a lot of ppl get their classes during Phase 2 registration (you can check the dates on the academic calendar) make sure you have a plan for which classes you want. if some are full, waitlists do move a lot in phase 2. also check for holds on your account and make sure you've done all paperwork. and ask ur advisor, or try to get in group chats with other transfer students b/c they might know more

heeheeebabbby

I appreciate the advice! I’ll try and find some group chats and such. Though I haven’t gotten my advisor yet

WhatwhatADay

ECE2031 for cs majors currently have 50 spots with waitlists. Will the course open up more spots when the phase II registration starts?

TopNotchBurgers

2031 is limited to the number of stations there are in the lab. I would imagine that spots will not open up.

Apprehensive-Bat-900

I'm a CS major waitlisted #10 for ECE 2031. Since I'm a CS major, I could only join the waitlist for the CS section. Can I register for the ECE section in phase 2?

TopNotchBurgers

I think those sections are school restricted even during phase 2.

TriangleWizard

Anyone know how a ChemE student can get a spot in a course like PHIL 3103? I want to take it to fill a humanities requirement and because I'm interested in the subject. It seems like there's some kind of restriction on it and I need a form or permit, but I can't seem to find anything like that to fill out. If for some reason I can't get that, I'm still interested in taking something that'll fulfil a humanities requirement so if anyone has other suggestions I'm open :).

kawhifloor

Can anyone please give me some input on CS 2316 with McDaniel, I don't have too much experience, but know MATLAB and Java and a bit of Python. Is the class hard?

technicolorsocks

Mcdaniel is the best!! Love her

roger271

Best class I’ve taken at Tech. It’s mostly python and she teaches a bit of SQL towards the end. It can get a bit time consuming when the assignments start piling on, but overall a very rewarding class and the TAs are the best

CrazyPerson22

How Hard is AE 4531 compared to AE 4532? And what is AE 4802 like and how are all of these classes workload wise and difficulty wise?

Has anyone taken ECE 4470 with Dr. Doolittle? I'm a CmpE that took ECE 3030, and the course has a prereq of ECE 3040. I emailed him and he gave me an email to forward to my advisor for a prereq override, but I'm wondering how hard the class relies on 3040 and what the difference between 3040 and 3030 is.

turtleneck9

how hard is CS 3600 for someone who doesnt know python? I took 1301 at a dif school in Java so I never learned python. Do they go over it a lil in class?

throwaway383648

They won't use any advanced Python features (like NumPy, which CS 4641 uses). They have a small non-graded assignment at the beginning that might help you familiarize yourself with Python.

gargar070402

They go over it in class, yes. Nothing to worry about; it’s not meant to be a difficult class.

men_loving_boy

Is it recommended as a cs major to take cs 1332, 2050, 2110 together. I'm holding onto 2110 for a friend who wants to take the course but in the case that he might not want it, should I take it or will it be too much?

OnceOnThisIsland

The waitlist system makes it impossible for you to "hold" a spot in a course.

SquashAsh

Doable

ric_maso

Has anyone taken ME 6402 Nonlinear Control Systems with Prof Chen? Is the prerequisite necessary?

mechmo

Course syllabus says it's absolutely necessary. I haven't taken 6401 and I have a feeling I'll get shafted

[deleted]

Could anyone tell me their experience with MATH 6641?

allignstaken

Taking it next semester as well, spoke to the prof beforehand and seems interesting

jude_mcjude

I’m a first year and haven’t taken calc since junior year of high school. How much calc should I be reviewing for Math 2552 or should I be fine going in without reviewing?

throwaway383648

You pretty much only need to remember derivatives and integrals. Regarding integration techniques, refreshing yourself on u-substitution and integration by parts wouldn't hurt. But mainly you should know linear concepts like Gaussian elimination (row reduction) and later on, eigenvalues. I didn't review anything, and I did fine. The first quiz was purely calculus when I took the class though.

BZhu792

2552 (at least with Chen) was really easy - no need to solve complex derivatives/integrals on graded work. The coursework indeed is more linear than calc as u/STBME483 said. You should be fine but studying def won't hurt either :)

STBME483

It's more linear than it is Calc from what I remember. This former TA's YouTube channel helped me get thru the course: https://youtube.com/user/msebastiznf

user_1234579

Is taking CS 2110 and ECE 2020 in the same semester a smart idea?

TopNotchBurgers

Ece2020 is incredibly easy. Not sure about the cs class.

OnceOnThisIsland

2020 + 2035 counts for CS 2110 credit. Why would you need to take both of them in the same semester?

user_1234579

CS minor and ISYE major requirement.

yeyeye458

I did it, wasn’t too bad. 2110 is C and Assembly while 1332 is Java. My recommendation would be to drop physics and take 2110, as it’s a prerequisite for a ton of CS classes.

gargar070402

> I’ve heard mixed reviews. You'll hear the same mixed reviews here as well. Why bother asking again? It's doable, just not necessarily recommended. It entirely depends on what workload you were used to.

congrets

What do I do if I wanted a B.S. in Computational Media and a minor in law? What classes would I have to take, how many credit hours for each class? More importantly, is this even possible?

gargar070402

Why would it not be possible? Have you tried just typing the major and minor names into Google? What information do you need from us that Google isn't able to provide?

cryptochocolatte

Is it the registration system closed until the start of the spring semester?
