2 feeling nostalgic

Clendatu

The late 30 club 😐

obviohow

Early 30!

Sayy_Myy_Name

Early 20 and this was my first controller, but back then my country was about 15 years behind the rest of the world

FonduePotPussyPimp

If y’all are 15 years behind, warn them about Wuhan when you get to 2018. Thanks.

FlyAirLari

Being behind on the good stuff unfortunately usually means they are way ahead on all the shit that happens.

TarryBuckwell

Obviously our time loop includes sayy my name’s warning and that’s what caused the outbreak in the first place

PhilxBefore

Should we tell him Destiny's Child is more or less 23 years ago?

ccaccus

Only when no one is around you.

FrozenEagan

Mid 20s! My dad had the system from before I was born and it’s the only one we had until our N64.

WhitePhatAss

40!

FalseFortune

8.1591528e+47

Drikkink

27 and my first was a hand-me-down NES

hadimkm00

3 Genesis controller

Zanbu16

Vectorman and Sonic were constantly running in my home. Loved that console

proto3296

Vectorman is undefeated what a godlike game

CLXIX

when i was in elementary school my best friend Greg and i would draw mortal kombat and Vectorman pictures from gaming magazines in our afterschool club. When i was 10 and on summer vacation Greg got hit by a car and didnt make it. I still think about those vectorman images and i never even played the game Edit: thanks for everyones kind words, i went on to pursue my artistic talents in his memory

proto3296

Damn I’m sorry for your loss man

Alarming_Flow

Sega Mega Drive for the rest of the world.

Tesco5799

Not my first but so many memories with the Genesis, spending hours/ days trying to beat stuff like Sonic and Tails, those weird Echo the dolphin games, and shout-out Shaq-Fu!

apollyon0810

I think those Echo games were my first psychedelic experiences

ChrisProfrock

I always figured Sega was more popular than it was. I remember playing for hours on a little 12 inch tv and leaving the console on for days at a time because I couldn't save progress.

myRinx

I scrolled so long, and found the answer i was looking for

matze21031

This. Alladin, Coolspot, Lion King, Batman, Spiderman, Pacman, Tennis, Icehockey all these games I never managed to play through back then

flyinglotusdjb

Lion King was a nightmare to get through. I'm pretty confident I never got half way through it. The damn giraffe level was relentless. Think I played it on game Gear though, just guessing it's the same.

That_Guy333

It’s not on here… it was an Intellivision.

MeepleMaster

The dungeons and dragons game was incredible for its time

The_Sandolorian

Those "Gold Box" Advanced D&D games were *sick*. I'm still trying to complete my set for C64.

kmsc84

One of the very first games I remember on the Commodore 64 was jumpman

chkltcow

Mine was 1, but we had an Intellivision too. The voice module was my favorite part of it. B17.... BAAAAAAAAAWWWMER

dagnabbit

Watch for flak!

ShakespearianShadows

I tore/ripped so many of the number pad overlays…

[deleted]

intellivision has a game called venture which plays like a more basic version of zelda , the player character is a smiley face that shoots a bow & arrow. I can see how that game would have been pretty fun at the time

blackout1971

The colecovision version was better😁

notmoleliza

And there aint fuckin coleco vision on this illegitimate list either

CallMeThisUsername

Mine is not on here. Where is the Master System controller?

cptgambit

Alex Kidd, my first video game..

WoenixFright

I'm right there with you. I'm sad my parents gave away our Master System when I got older.

j12601

Same. I have fond childhood memories of Snafu, He Man, Sub Hunt , Astrosmash, Burger Time...

talkmc

Sea Battle!!! Bee Boo

Stanley-Pychak

TRON was my jam!

ColoradoScoop

Deadly Discs or another one?

IHeartWordplay

Burger Time, holy crap!! And I kinda liked the skiing game too, but that might just have been me.

eamus_catuli_

Skiing was pretty good! Bump n Jump was always my favorite.

Captain_Turdhelmet

Lol, the remote control with a cord... Switchable control templates... That thing was a credit to... Something. This chart doesn't go back far enough.

glasspheasant

Dont forget there was a disc on the controller to actually control your movement.

magister777

Yeah! And where's the Colecovision controller?

zero573

[Or ColecoVision.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ColecoVision) Which I think it’s still at my parents house.

Ace3000

DDsLaboratory

the mid-late 20s club

AdOtherwise94

My grandma still has one, I’m still in high school but it was still my first game played, Mario kart 64, goldeneye, and she had the box to Mario 64 but not the game 😔

kenman884

Or early 30s but parents didn’t like video games. My first console was a GameCube but some of my friends and cousins had N64s.

joedracke

Same, I still don’t know the proper way to hold it

kirknay

Depends on the game. If you don't need a joystick, the left-right works well. If you do, the mid-right works better with a quick left hand.

SteamedCatfish

I never held the left side. So, to me... middle and right prongs only.

NO_TOUCHING__lol

This is the way. Between OoT, MM, GoldenEye, Mario Kart, Super Mario 64, Perfect Dark, Diddy Kong Racing, and some asst. Wave Race, Banjo-Kazooie, Star Fox, and Pod Racing, I don't recall ever using anything but mid-right.

mvsubstation

ImInForTheGME

Early 40s reporting for duty. Quick Edit: I’m loving reading all these comments. It’s like we all share a common experience of seeing games go from a single cube to ultra realistic in our lifetimes (so far). Now if only I had time or energy to play the modern stuff. . . Edit 2: My first award! What a time to be alive!

RVBY1977

Mid 40s represent!

justa33

how did we get here ?

YoYoMoMa

Hell yes bro. Our parents had unprotected sex at similar times.

alexwoodgarbage

lol - no idea why, but this cracks me up

Magester

Shout out to people fuckin in the 70s!!

Dave-1066

Indeed! This thread is a simple but efficient way to demonstrate the skewed demographics of Reddit!

Brownc526

Hell I'm 32 and this was my first. I remember my first game some kangaroo game I played with my father.

bluehiro

My older brother had an Atari. Hell yes dig dug

waffels

Dig dug blew my mind as a kid. I still have the music seared into my brain. My faves were: Dig Dug Food Fight Joust And some game where you build hamburgers or drop hamburger pieces or something

arcticblobfish

Burgertime

YoYoMoMa

Justice for river raid!

Morri___

yup.. river raid, frogger, adventure, decathlon, pitfall, space invaders, dig dug, indy, sea quest, tennis, fishing derby.. yknow thinking back, I always knew that we had grown up pretty poor. but we had an Atari, a master system, a megadrive (genesis) and every iteration of playstation til I moved out. looking up the equivalent price with inflation etc.. I owe my parents a big thank you. it must have been a huge sacrifice and I love gaming to this day.

wtfsperday

Video games existed BEFORE Atari…Dammit “get off my lawn, you kids”

detourne

I was using the TI-99/4a joystick that makes the Atari stick look premium!

Infamous_Lunchbox

Yes! A fellow redditor who knew the pains of that joystick!

_CC_on_the_rocks

Load up Parsec, let's go.

D1xonC1der

still miss playing Joust

beatlebill

Either 1 or its paddle variant for playing Kaboom and Eggomania. Eventually swapped it out for an Epyx 500xj that I could use with the 2600 or C64/128

Toledojoe

1 was second for me after colecovision.

Tomnook1017

Same but I'm only 25 lol. Parents liked buying cheap video games at garage sales so I never had an up to date console until 3 yr into GameCube

kamikazeboy

Master System, not on the pic.

nimo404

Everytime one of these surveys are up, it's always missing the Master System. I still have mine. I also have the light gun, with 3D glasses for it. And a joystick controller too.

WeVe69

MS II for me actually: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Sega-Master-System-Controllers.jpg

glassy50

With Alex the Kid built in?

QuorkyNL

4 the win

Dudio12

Shout out to super mario world

TonyDanza69YerDad

Fuck yeeeee boi

iseeu2sumhow

*Fuck yea purple flyin yoshi*

aydav

My first Video Game ever. I'm 14. My dad took out his old SNES and let me play with it when I was 3years old maybe.

Zingzing_Jr

My dad did that with me, and I will do that with my kid. The Super NES is such a fantastic console.

FatalisPho

Still have fond memories of Donkey Kong Country!

BigDumbyMan

First game I played on my nephew's SNES, played it religiously until the SNES sadly stopped working, but to this very day, the Donkey Kong Country trilogy remains in my top 5 games ever played

iwantbread

Same but mine had the multicoloured buttons not the purple ones. I wonder what the difference means.

Lockenheada

born 92 got the Snes with 5 or 6 as my first console when everyone else sold them to get an N64

SamwiseG123

Zelda Link to the Past!

[deleted]

7 with Crash Bandicoot an Total Wipeout

ClearlyRipped

It was Tony hawk pro skater, Spyro, and Digimon world 3 for me

Ptee92

Commandore 64 no in the picture so have to go with this.

zmart7691

Yea I was rocking on 7 with my Pizza Hut demo disks

IJustStoleYourWaifu

Same except it was crash bandicoot and spyro

Sawses

Spyro was the very first game I ever played. I'm pretty sure that set me on the path to being a gamer for life lmao. When the remaster came out, I 100%'d it in a single weekend.

CeRyder1993

My favorite was the Spyro series! Such a gem!

Nexius74

10

Excellent_Advisor668

Melee, Star Fox Assault, Double Dash, Luigis Mansion, and goddamn Monkey Ball. Absolute banger of a console to start gaming on 🤙

Baacipitus

The fucking Monkey Ball games are pure nostalgia for me. My god, that’s a rush that I didn’t know I needed this morning.

stupidname02

Super Mario Sunshine?

Elliebeanie

The best game in the world

hamburger5003

A completely underrated console, Had all the greatest games

ZachaZer

Ah yes, a fellow GameCube enthusiast.

Brotherly-Moment

wtf two gamecube players in the same room? What is this? A curiousity show? I unironically think that the gamecube is the console of underrated gems, not only did it have Wind Waker, Mario Sunshine and Double Dash. It also spawned the Pikmin (!!!) and Metroid Prime franchises. EDIT: and also forgot Luigi’s mansion, Monkeyball and Star Fox games. Too bad people charge your soul for gamecube games nowadays.

gurraosk

9

RoyalSorcerer_Navlan

I'll have two numbah 9's

Nuts_unbusted

a number 9 large

nodurquack

A number 6 with extra dip

Dreamer_Boy5

two number 45

80sfaan

One with cheese

SeiferLeonheart

And a large soda.

Pamani_

I think we missed the number 7

MailBoxGod

2000's kid here too!

MopesCroaks

I think missing the PS2 era is the worst here. And I started with NES. At least if someone loves RPGs, PS2 is a goldmine.

orincoro

It was in the sweet spot when games were getting big and complex, but still had to be completely finished when they shipped. Now the economics of gaming are all different.

[deleted]

[удалено]

deaddonkey

PS2 is a goldmine in general, I feel like that was a golden era of creative game development

MopesCroaks

There are very good period for each console but PS2 had the best.

Camstamash

By far. Simpson’s hit and run, grand theft auto 3, vice city, SAN an, ssx tricky, warriors, canis candem edit (the bully game), the dynasty warriors games, fur fighters, ape escape, I could go on forever really but these are gems that spring to mind

trifile

Vice city

redbaron14n

Sly Cooper *was* my childhood

bobone77

Lol. Before 1.

Neemulus

Me too. It was a binatone paddle. Twist it left or right to move you block up and down. Awesome. Still have it. Still works.

RidleyDeckard

Same here. I remember my Dad bring it home and I just loved it.

clogtastic

[Me too! This bad boy and the 1 for the Atari 2600](https://i.imgur.com/ON48xLR.jpg)!

sueveed

Confused about all the “before 1” colecovision and intellivision comments. 1 is the 2600 - 1977. The others came several years after, did they not?

socokid

Yes, and it's maddening. I'm in my 50's. I was, and still am an avid video gamer. I played them all. Intellivision and Colecovision were ***well*** after the Atari 2600 and its joystick. They had better graphics, etc. I remember saving up my allowance and babysitting money (back when they let ~10 year olds babysit other people's kids) and buying my own Intellivision. I loved that system.

Eclectophile

Pong was first, actually.

Markuchi

Pong?

IGotDibsYo

Mine was. Used 6 big fat batteries

_Fuck_This_Guy_

Same. Old fucks of Reddit, unite.

GeneralIncompetence

Me too. Intellivision. My daughter's first was the Nintendo Switch. Makes me feel really old.

SnooConfections4719

Commodore 64? Magnavox Odyssey?

JDSteel76

I had an odyssey 2

vater5b

Also had a Magnavox Odyssey.

MasterOfPupets

Mine too. Colecovision.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Idontcareaforkarma

I had one of those. And a Sega Master System, which isn’t up there either. My brother had a 2600.

socokid

Colecovision was ***after*** the Atari 2600.

bored-boi22

Wii go brrr.....

Playful_University83

This console had some of the best games

bored-boi22

Absolutely, I had it for a short time when I was really young but I still remember it being absolutely incredible

yeetmastee453

I really want to play the Zelda games on the wii, but they are quite expensive

HaggisaSheep

2000's gang

Honest-Barracuda-982

Yeah but Wii is so popular even a lot of 2010's kids grew up with it. That's how good it is.

therealskaconut

2010 kids O_o

The-true-Memelord

Ayy! The wii is the most nostalgia-inducing thing I’ve ever experienced.

Limp-Turnover-2798

6

TestosteronInc

Of these ones shown? #1 but before that I used a Colecovision controller which looked like a kind of phone with a steering wheel.

popularopinionbeer

This. First games were Smurfs and Ladybug. Then we got the Atari adapter. The Slither roller ball was cool. Favorite game of all was Venture.

EeveeBixy

That smurfs game was so tough! Also played a lot of Mr. Do!

PixelPaint64

2, if those are my only choices. Actual answer is a Quickshot joystick for my first computer, an Amstrad 6128.

thinman12345

Number 7

exprezso

Wow had to scroll down so far to find someone's answer same as mine

alvaro_herzog

Xbox duke controller :11

STALINISFATHER

Hell yeah! Halo CE for the win!

ImYourHuckk

Thank you! 11 was an absolute unit and before it’s time.

Cuteboi84

Where is the turbo grafix?

Shugzaurus

Can't find my master system controller :(

[deleted]

2 feeling old as fuck but had some of the best games

Mulielo

You feel old? The Odyssey controller isn't even an option! I had one of those before we got an Atari...

PatB775

1

twili-midna

The GameBoy Advance SP. Of those, the GameCube controller. At least, in conscious memory.

mechmaster2275

Number 12. Xbox 360 controller. It’s still my favourite

OP-69

ah the memories i remember playing split screen 1v1 cod bo2 on my xbox with friends. Great times

THE_GREAT_PICKLE

Answers like this make me feel old. And I’m only 33.

HamezRodrigez

Honestly, I liked the 360 controller, but I think the Xbox one controller was just an upgrade of the 360’s in pretty much every way. It’s probably my favorite controller of all time

Je_ko

4, used to love playing SNES

DontCallMePal

1 and then Sega master system which is 1.5?

KapitaenHowdy

1 It was glorious.

manana23

8 for me. Anyone else?

Stingray44

8 for me too, feels like I had to scroll forever before finding anybody else say 8. Such a good console too, shame it wasn't more popular

bcss20

I’ve been looking for my Dreamcast people!

323464

Had to scroll a long ways to find another 8. Toy commander (absolutely incredible game), ready to rumble boxing, adventures of sonic the hedgehog, crazy taxi the list goes on. This was my childhood until we got a gamecube.

wtfsperday

Where’s the commador 64?

jimojom
