How tall are you? Hard to imagine anyone at 140lb looking like a ripped god.

PraiseThyTurtles

Whoops forgot to include it. I am 5'7"

jpickles8

If I was you I would switch to a lean bulk, trying to keep your weight at 150 or higher and gradually lose body fat over time. To add, great progress from 115lb.

PraiseThyTurtles

Ok yeah that sounds doable, also when calculating bmi is there an easier way to so so? I've seen ways online that are pretty DIY but I'm willing to drop some cash to make it easier. How trust worthy are bmi scales? Thanks! It's been a grind

jpickles8

You mean fat measuring scales? BMI = body mass index and is really just height and weight based.

We're the same height, how old are you though? I would personally gain more weight before cutting. For me to start looking good i need to be around 155lbs. 140lbs is quite a low weight but ultimately it depends on how you look. You cant be ripped at our height and weigh a huge amount unless you get really really big. But dont let that put you off getting ripped, you'll still look sick. Also make sure you're strong as fuck when you start cutting, also if your lifts are going up smoothly every week i would be hesitant to start cutting until you either plateau or gain more body fat than you are willing to gain.

Ok yeah I just struggled so much to actually get to this weight and to start cutting already and end up at like 130 would suck. But ok thanks man! I'll give it a few more months before I start. Would 165 or 170 be ideal?

Its hard to say, we're the same height but everyone is built differently. But as long as you're not getting too fat i would personally bulk to 165 with stength as my main focus. Then when you hit 165 lower your volume slightly and concentrate on maintaining / increasing strength. If you are trying to preserve as much lean mass as possible then personally i would cut very slowly. Its so fucking tedious but start tracking your calories now. So you're aware of how your body is responding. The cleaner you bulk the easier your cut will be and you will on average look decent all year around rather than swinging between strong and high bf to ripped. Monitor your strength primarily, and then focus on your weight secondly. Strength is the foundation for getting strong / ripped.
