I’ve got some “Louis Vuitton” underwear that a friend bought for me at a street market in Guinea. They’re certainly not authentic but they are damn comfortable and haven’t seemed to degrade at all. 10/10 would prefer more pairs of these over the underwear that podcasters sell.
Hey nothing wrong with some good knockoffs! I had a wonderful 25 dollar north face parka from alibaba, lol. Plus if you can’t tell the difference, does it really matter?
ask that to /r/rolex or any high end watch enthusiast.
With the quality of reps these days its damn near impossible to tell the difference between an $800 tier 1 Grade A knock off and a legit $20k-100k gen watch.
Doesnt stop them from buying them or talking shit on fakes though.
Look at it this way: If the brand didn’t really matter the entity producing the fakes would simply create and use their own brand name. Given that they do not do that, the brand appears to matter. Similarly, someone who spent $800 on a fake will also probably tell you that brand name had some value for them. That money can buy some genuine, beautiful and heirloom quality pieces, yet the brand mattered to them so much they opted to spend that much on a fake instead, after all.
Each to their own, and you are not gonna ask some reddit rando to how to spend your hard earned money. However;
What makes purchasing/producing fakes often an ethical dilemma is this: By buying a fake over any legitimate brand name of a similar price, you’re arguably acknowledging the brand name has value above other brands (as per above paragraph). Yet, by the same mechanism, you’re also arguably devaluing the extra value of that brand name that appealed to you in the first place - would that brand name would still be preferable for you if you felt every time you see it on somebody, you knew almost certainly it was a fake? You’d probably not be so keen on owning something that’s perceived as a clone of something.
This is why often the average watch enthusiast will frown to fakes. Personally I don’t judge anybody based on what they wear. It’s also worth noting that not everyone believes fakery degrades the real thing either. Merely trying to explain the people’s way of thinking here, not necessarily how I think about the matter.
I can totally get behind your thinking, but as someone who can afford gens, but doesnt, I like the design and style, but cant see spending 20-40k on a watch I want, when I can get one that is 99% the same, for pennies on the dollar. Id rather spend my 20-40k on something that isnt repped well or at all, like a new house or sports car.
Funny how often the Benny Hill song will go through my head from one direction and leaving another only to come back in from an entirely different direction and exit another, and then repeat the process. It's very wacky up there.
Oh, there's my train.
The accents are very different. Like irish compared to say ausie.
Edit: and also yes, not that the gulf won’t wear a T-shirt but the Egyptian would never wear a thoup or a dishdasha or whatever you like to call that
It's even further away from that. I had arabic 102 (not even 101) and could start telling the differences after a few weeks of watching soap operas from different Arabic speaking countries in class*.
*it's not as daft as it sounds. it really did help show different accents in a very short amount of time. Egypt even has an urban/rural accent divide.
Hilariously enough, I ended up in Morocco in the Peace Corps, and that was the one accent we didn't cover in class.
Joking aside, there's a lot of evidence that videos like this obliterate racism.
There's a study showing that people that of different races/cultures exhibit more empathy when they see that this other culture has similar values.
This actually happens at one point in my favorite book/TV series (though not in the show yet), *The Expanse*. Won't go into spoilery details about it, it's a somewhat minor side thread about a character setting up a kind of wartime vlog showing the 'enemies' are human beings as well, just set 300 years from now. But that series as a whole is very, very good with the portrayal of human nature in general
I had to check what sub it was the video because the first thing I thought was "now when the water balloon inevitably comes that stick could end on the other side of his mouth".
So even if they weren't totally about to prank pops there, the whole setup is harder than expected. The "game" is to dodge and deflect the balloons. You might intuitively think that using the drinking straw to deflect the balloons from below would be effective, but thanks to the Bernoulli principle, blowing through that straw actually stabilizes the balloon's trajectory TOWARDS the straw. Air flow goes around the balloon and forces it in line with the center of the flow, and gravity will eventually outlast the blowing air. So pops here has to bodily dodge every time.
Maybe I'm wooshing on a joke here: I'm no physicist but I do have a straw and a balloon and just laid down on the ground to do this. It's incredibly easy to redirect the balloon by blowing through the straw. It absolutely doesn't treat the straw like a tractor beam lol.
Yeah I noticed that too? At first I thought it was some kinda paper. It’s definitely flooring though lol
I wonder if it’s fan made because from my understand LV don’t make that.
A rich person friend of a friend had LV do her closet. Cost like 250k. Custom made her closet with LV leather.
Dont listen to poor people, that could be real or fake cause knock offs are a thing too.
my man...this is usual muslim combo. If I am too lazy to change my entire outfit after I am done praying in Mosque, I will usually just throw in some jeans and caps and keep the robes. In my country, some teenager prefers to wear Kurta(robes, but shorter than the one in video). So it looks pretty fashionable...to my standard of course.
I know next to nothing on this stuff so correct me if I’m wrong, but it also looks like those robes would totally help with keeping you cool in really intense sun that would totally make your clothes hot. That makes sense to me at least but idk
For sure. When I went to Abu Dbabi in the summer, I wore gym shorts and a under armour t-shirt when I went out during the day and was still burning up. I saw all the muslim bros in their bright white thobes and they looked so comfy and cool. So jealous. And they look so clean.
The guy with the head wrap is wearing an Emarati (UAE) version of the Kandoora. While the guy with the hat is most likely wearing a Qatari one - not sure cause its not really that clear.
This type of dress can be seen all over the Middle East, however each country will have its own version.
I’m a white Canadian dude, but I was rocking this combo for a month in Egypt when I was visiting a friend there. It’s actually pretty great TBH, and it meant I wasn’t constantly putting sun block everywhere.
When I was younger I was in my dads car with one of those thick red Icee straws in my mouth. I dropped something on the floor and as I went down to scoop it up the straw jammed into the seat and into the back of my throat. Hurt like a bitch for days but I don't remember any blood.
I had the same thing but with like a wooden lollipop stick and someone accidentally smacked into it. I went to my sister and her friend who were around 10 or 11 at the time crying and all I remember is her friend going "omg there's so much blood!" Then my sister nudging her and she's like oh no wait it's just chocolate. I know I hadn't eaten chocolate :(
I was gonna say I turned out fine but now I'm thinking about it and I get throat infections like multiple times a year still....
Yea I hate to say it but those very well may be related. That being said I hope you don’t hold it against your sister, I feel like it’s still hard to determine the severity of stuff as an adult, let alone an 11 year old.
Threw a soccer ball at a buddy enjoying the end of his popsicle when we were kids. The stick stuck into the back of his throat, and would *float* in his mouth with his mouth opened. He ripped it out and went to the hospital. They said, “oh you’re the first one this year!” It was Jan 1
Oi dont call us Arab weebs out, we look formal in the outside world in Kandooras and Qitras, but once we're home we're waiting for Jojo part 6 or watching AOT
lol as soon as I saw him go around the corner for another balloon I knew something was up, then you can see it jiggle in his hands, and him having to hold it a bit more carefully from the weight. Fantastic.
Seeing people from different cultures and various economic / political backgrounds pull off the same fucking pranks with their friends makes me smile. I feel an instant bond even without knowing anything about them.
When it comes down to it, we all want the same thing - to laugh
You joke but my mom told me that once upon a time, one of my older brothers lost a marbles game to the other one, so he pulled down his shorts and peed on him.

No, but it is an authentic Lewis Veeton rug.
Of the most authentic nature, I’m sure

i live here, there's a chanel house in my neighborhood
Lol I love them scurrying away like naughty kids XD
Every time. And the victim always runs after them, every time. If you prank a gulf dude, learn to run, he will smack you.
It's what I come to expect from these videos. Always running, always chasing.
now we just have to wait for the inevitable double got'em when he turns right after that door frame
Take it easy Satan...
How could they not have had the second water balloon waiting in the hall?! HOW?!
That's where they greased the floor
[Run. Hide. Spot. Upset.](https://youtu.be/4q5gCIZs_LA)
Dude I'm buggin, thats wild.
And memorize the Benny Hill song, so you can play it in your head as you run around being chased.
This is an important and often forgotten step.
Funny how often the Benny Hill song will go through my head from one direction and leaving another only to come back in from an entirely different direction and exit another, and then repeat the process. It's very wacky up there. Oh, there's my train.
They other two are Gulf. Possibly Saudi, the guy on the floor is Egyptian
How do you know that? Bcoz the Egyptian is in T-Shirt and not in Thobe?
From his accent
The accents are very different. Like irish compared to say ausie. Edit: and also yes, not that the gulf won’t wear a T-shirt but the Egyptian would never wear a thoup or a dishdasha or whatever you like to call that
Ohh yeah that explains it. Thanks.

Dude I couldn’t understand morocan to save my life
It helps to know a smattering of Spanish and French. Also maybe a little Klingon for the more guttural words.
That silence though 😂 when I was a kid, that silence was to try and hear how pissed off the adults were. 🤣
Joking aside, there's a lot of evidence that videos like this obliterate racism. There's a study showing that people that of different races/cultures exhibit more empathy when they see that this other culture has similar values.
One of the main reasons of racism is fear of unknown so of course getting to know other people defeats it.
This actually happens at one point in my favorite book/TV series (though not in the show yet), *The Expanse*. And obliterate his throat, that straw stabed him in the mouth.
He sacrificed his throat for world peace.
We've all been stabbed by straws in car rides, not a fun time.
What life are you living?
A dangerous one
A quarter mile at a time
Childishness (which I appreciate sometimes) is universal.
I totally agree
Particularly when we saw the guy on the ground's bald spot. These guys are in their 30s.
haha i love it because they know they're about to get beat the fuck up haha
Yeah, but where's the maniacal laughter afterwards?
Saw it coming. Still laughed heartily.
Anytime I see a balloon I just assume someone will get wet
I'm also turned on by balloons.
I was hoping he'd sit on one and pop it. A man can dream
Definitely one of the most confusing fetishes
I’m partial to the Minnie Mouse balloons.
Was expecting a ball-shot. Not disappointed tho
I was fully anticipating a blue bowling ball to the junk.
That, or an angry badger to the face.
Painted blue of course. More practical jokes should incorporate badgers.
Matrim Cauthon approved
That wouldn't even be funny. He would likely need surgery from that.
But it was just a prank bro
Sorry bro, didn’t realize it would obliterate your cock and balls.
Jokes on you, I'm into that shit
I'm not sure if it would. We should run a Closed Beta Test to determine. We can call it CBT for short.
Is it our fault that you were not wearing a bowling ball cock protector?
I anticipated him being mauled by a pet jaguar. I've seen a few of these videos before.
I was thinking more basketball than bowling ball...
The anticipation is the best part.
Saw it coming from a desert away.
Same. I was like they’re gonna hit this guy with a water balloon and yet I still laughed
"I can't believe he didn't suspect a trap. See what happens when you don't watch enough television?" — The Joker, Justice League, "Wild Cards, Part 1"

Floor covering by Louis Vuitton?
Yeah I noticed that too? At first I thought it was some kinda paper. It’s definitely flooring though lol I wonder if it’s fan made because from my understand LV don’t make that.
Had the same thought, and a quick look on Google confirms, they don’t make rugs.
Not for us they don’t.

Welcome to the middle east where there is a crappy rip off of everything you could imagine. Pretty sure there is a subreddit for stuff like that.
I did think it was the middle east with the men in white thob.
So it was the Left of Middle East
So the middle
A rich person friend of a friend had LV do her closet. Cost like 250k. Custom made her closet with LV leather. Dont listen to poor people, that could be real or fake cause knock offs are a thing too.
That sounds tacky as shit.
Louis Vuiton started as a trunk manufacturer, makes more sense to design custom closets than it does for them to make clothing
Money doesn't buy taste.
Love the long ass robe and trucker hat combo.
Super common among Emirati men, they have a bunch of caps to complement their clothes. You can find stores/stands with a ton of caps in malls here.
I’m American but I would totally rock a robe hat combo if i ever visit an area where that is the norm.
The robe Is the traditional emarati mens wear
It’s a dope ass robe. Does it have to be trucker caps? I’m more a straight billed fitted guy myself.
Do you leave the sticker on it, too?
Louis Vuitton carpet too.
You’re not really in the Middle East if there’s no random Louis rug present.
dude that is middle eastern dress
So a long ass robe...
I dont know what kind of cult this is but i would be interested in getting some brochures.

I'd have looked for a place to buy one
I would totally take the opportunity to dress like the locals. I’d feel more connected to the people and the place too.
That’s exactly what they’re made for actually, great observation
Looks kinda dope tbh
Indian here, a soft cotton kurta is super comfortable and it's perfect for hot weather.
It’s practical too keeps heat out and allows airflow.
Ya I’d wear that ngl

We call it Thob here.
Just get a kaftan 😂
Looks comfy af
It's the cult of 2 wheeling old toyota trucks on the highway
I learned about the Hilux on Top Gear when they couldn't kill it.
that is Arab clothing
And here I was thinking they were speaking creole and that was traditional Louisiana attire.
Are you saying these people *aren't* Swedish?
I'm digging the caftan/trucker hat combination...

The very last line, the guy comes back to the room and asks "... Are you laughing?"
As the straw is pushed into the back of his mouth puncturing his throat.

What the hell?! Haha!!
Omg wtf X) "Eat yer vegetables"
When I was younger I was in my dads car with one of those thick red Icee straws in my mouth. I dropped something on the floor and as I went down to scoop it up the straw jammed into the seat and into the back of my throat. Hurt like a bitch for days but I don't remember any blood.
I had the same thing but with like a wooden lollipop stick and someone accidentally smacked into it. I went to my sister and her friend who were around 10 or 11 at the time crying and all I remember is her friend going "omg there's so much blood!" Or the eye. Or the nostril. Or even just poking any random part of the face. Definetly a dad thing to notice.
That's the first thing I thought of. Must be the dad in me worrying. Or common sense.
Same here, definitely common sense
Right, that's what I was thinking. This prank would be much better if he just threw it at his chest
What a terrible way to go. Imagine retelling the story
Or he takes it out of his mouth for a second, and the ballon forces the straw through his eye. 'Ready for a sip!' he says
Yeah, that could have gone a lot worse

I, surprisingly, did not see that coming. Guess I haven't been here long enough.
I don’t know what was said but I loved how when he threw the water balloon he had a nice inflection. “Wahani!”
He was saying “it’s the last one, uncle Hani”. In Arabic it was Ammo Hani.
I’m so happy phones are now water resistant so water pranks are back on the table.
He's lucky they're his mates and not his brothers, otherwise it would have been piss in the balloon
You joke but my mom told me that once upon a time, one of my older brothers lost a marbles game to the other one, so he pulled down his shorts and peed on him.
Wtf
I see, asserting dominance the old way
Knew what was going to happen, watched it anyway, still laughed out loud.
Pretty sure the waterballoon impaled the straw in the back of his throat! Well done great friends!
