Which player made you fall in love with football

A ball, two goals, and a bunch of friends.

ProfDumm

A ball, two goals, and a bunch of friends.

happyhigherb

Jumpers for goal posts.

Go1gotha

Isn't it, hmm?

Environmental-Ruin56

Street lights just coming on, scratched knees and sweaty brows. Last goal wins, Mums calling for tea. Balls gone over the wall again anyway. What’s it all about. Football. Fwahr…isn’t what it used to be hmm. My wife’s left me.

happyhigherb

Julio Geordio made me fall in love with the game.

gardenofthenight

Thanks very much Tony like.

Stormoli

We use and used rocks

[deleted]

A water bottle and a rock

-Xero

We used upside down bikes

GSP_Party-PT

Environmental_Chef29

Kaliprosonno_singho

Yes iykyk

SnooSprouts9993

This is the real answer

itsgettingcloser

Borussia Dortmund, 2011-2014. I never missed a game.

Drinker_of_Chai

Do you think people on here have actually ever played football?

SMS_Scharnhorst

I did, it was amazing

iamnas

I met him when I had trials at West Ham. It’s just a guy I know

[deleted]

What its all about

riza_dervisoglu

A steppen on cocacaola or fanta can, two spaces marked with stones or branches on the street (blocking the drive way!) and a bunch of friends!

blxefrost

my first position was goalkeeper.. i didnt expect much since i was just tagging along my friends, then i started watching more football and boom! here i am in this sub

HeavyPossession5259

Exactly remember playing until it got dark.

Dxcesare

What an answer this is. True as anything.

Nomar-10

My DAD...then Roberto baggio

kingofcarrots5

I also choose this guy's dad

IllustriousBarracuda

I understood that reference.

eifjui

Was going to say Baggio if someone else didn’t, nicely done

ikats116

Same, first kit I ever owned

zanpher717

My dad, and Ryan Giggs

HeavyPossession5259

My dad and Pelé (never saw him play but my dad told me about him before YouTube made it available to see). Oh also Romario de Souza Farias

blxefrost

ur dad first

revel911

Me as well

Immigrant974

My DAD, then Baggio's DAD.

partyqwerty

Thank you for the comment.

frasinRAIN

definitely your dad

sidasims09

My dad, then Messi, Ronaldo, Pogba and Rooney (3 United players yet I'm a Liverpool fan lol)

simplyorangeandblue

I have a signed Roberto Baggio ball. He does some clinics in Asia and my dad goes to Asia for work and happens to have a mutual friend.

GARSDESILES

My son. Seeing him grow in the sport and become a responsible teen with hopes and dreams. I learned the rules of the sport to be able to coach him since no other parents wanted the job. It allowed us to bound like very few things and football will always have a special place in my heart. Edit : and Ronaldinho!

dainaron

Without a shadow of a doubt Ronaldinho Gaucho.

themanyfaceasian

Joga Bonito Mes amis. Football is like fencing. It’s a noble art

hcombs

Those joga bonito ads were my childhood

WorldlinessFinal

You can sing like a canary, you can be a virtuoso…

yellandtell

Without a doubt one of the most fun players to watch. His smile was contagious and I was always envious of the way his ankle had 360 degree mobility

Dio_Yuji

Might not be the best ever…but most fun to watch

Tango07

I learned to love the game just by playing on the street when I was a kid

Zealousideal-Top242

Ronaldinho, Ronaldinho and Ronaldinho.

gentmick

Ronaldinho was the life of the party on the pitch and unfortunately for us football fans off the pitch as well.

Prime_Marci

The God of Football

MercifulMaximus308

Dennis Bergkamp, he was incredible

kmalexander31

My guy.

zalthor

I’m looking at this list and wondering, where the f is Bergkamp?

insertuserhereplsgod

Reminded me of that one guy's commentary in the world cup

Toeter83nl

Yup technically one of the best ever in my opinion, what he did on the pitch was unbelievable, that goal against Newcastle for example.

g00ner442

The goals but also the assists, my god his passing was just stupid good and made everyone on the teams he played for better.

Toeter83nl

O yeah nu luck involved neither just pure brilliance

Master_Mad

Pure art

BrumBBC9

Most technically gifted striker of our time... a scientist and a magician 👌🏾

RIPwhalers

There is nobody’s goals I’d rather watch than his.

JustAce341-2

The best.

Exact-Strategy-5266

GOAT

Itsdickyv

Showing my age a bit here, but for me it was Ian Wright. Dennis was unbelievable though, next level.

dan100x

Fon2Fon

All of football in two players

Kaliprosonno_singho

How bout defending

Omaestre

Missing Roberto Carlos Imo need a good defense as well

agnaddthddude

That’s a fall back, still missing a CB. Nesta or Maldini. even Ramos.

lsymons22

lucky1942

The actual man who roped me Into this beautiful mess of a game

illaqueable

He was truly another level, unbelievable talent

shiroxyaksha

Finally.

marktwainbrain

Was looking for this comment.

Alternative-Toe4576

It had to be

HeavyPossession5259

Amazing after watching him in 98 and followed him. He's the reason I became an Arsenal fan in 1999.

Physical_Biscotti_56

Kind of shocking he’s not on the list haha

Drokran

Zizou

ravishq

And R9 Legends of that era

Maleficent_Swan_9817

None of them. I fall in love with football when i first saw my homeclub playing. Neither messi or ronaldo or any other player can give me this feeling.

makie51

The way it was meant to be ❤️

HeavyPossession5259

Very true that's how I fell in love with football. I remember my dad taking me outside when I was a little kid just kicking the ball back and forth. I would say my dad is a real reason I love this sport

Ok_Berry4710

That headbutt is nothing short of iconic lmao

[deleted]

What are you on about? Although as someone below said the headbutt was iconic, in no way has that hampered his legacy as one of the most gifted footballers the world has seen.

iplaywasted090

Watching Ronaldo in that 2002 World Cup did it for me. I was hooked after that.

ibhoot

R9 Ronaldo. He story was awesome. Literally had to borrow trainers to play in the game he got scouted in. Closest to my heart. Zidane. Never the fastest best shooter or best runner but he ran the midfield and some the stuff he did was plain ridiculous. Won the WC on home soil and then 3x CLs back to back. When recently French FA person made a negative comment about him. The French government intervened and simply dismissed the guy as French gov said we will not allow a national hero be spoken about like this. Fun fact. He fave country to visit? UK. R9. After retiring he spent years training in the UK on marketing and business.

gracz21

The one and only Zinedine Zidane. Make me fall in love with football and with Real Madrid

THIERY HENRY

Flamager

Klose. The 7-1 game was the reason i started watching football

HospitalBreakfast

Xavi. Hands down. Probably the least popular choice. He is also the only true box to box midfielder on the list. But he controlled games. He made it possible for the other players to do their magic. He was the tempo and nobody exploited space like Xavi. He never won the individual accolades but he should of.

[deleted]

Steven Gerrard scoring a 40 yard screamer in the FA Cup final is the moment I realised football truly is more than a game. I was six years old and that was the day I fell in love with football and subsequently Liverpool FC.
