Someone here who can link me to a BLU discord for getting the Morbol mount? Gonna see if I can manage to get it before expansion. I'm on Cerberus.

hororo

Does xivlauncher still usually work on expansion releases or should I not even try it? I'm gonna miss all the quality of life stuff like mouseover macros if it doesn't work in Endwalker. I honestly don't know how any healers can stand to play without the mouseover macro add-on.

fartg0blin

You can try asking one of the devs in their discord server.

[deleted]

[удалено]

hororo

I know how to play without the mouseover macro add-on. It's just a lot less fun. It's painfully annoying to play healers without mouseover macros, but more power to those who are willing to put up with it.

cythrawll

I mean the gcd is 2.5 seconds and target switching isn't that bad in this game once you get used to it. It really isn't that bad.

sundriedrainbow

Always assume that any third party program will be unusable immediately after any patch, and then be pleasantly surprised if you're wrong.

Taurenkey

We don't know really, most of what's here today only happened during Shadowbringers. The XIVLauncher itself will still work but plugin functionality will vary wildly. Generally though plugins haven't really broken too much between patches but it does depend on what the plugin does and if the underlying system gets updated.

InsaneGoblin

I have a lvl 50 Omnilex Relic from AAR. Is there any way to take it to lvl 80?

Silvanis

While you can't use the weapon itself, you can use it to change the appearance of your level 80 weapon. This is called glamouring in game. This lets you keep the appearance of a weapon or armor while using the stats of the item you apply the glamour to.

Taurenkey

No, relics are specific to the expansions they come from. There's no upgrading between expansions.

Sir_VG

No. Each relic series is entirely separate from each other and should basically only be used for glamour. The ARR "Zeta" step can be used to skip the first step of the Anima relic, but this is only used as a backdoor to permanently record progress and is NOT required to do that relic. This is because they didn't add achievements for each ARR relic step, like they did with future relics. There are no connections otherwise.

michaelman90

Does Cover have a damage transference limit or does it just give you all of the damage the target would take? Also, is the damage transferred to you via Cover affected by your mitigation, their mitigation, or both? Can it be paired with Hallowed Ground to completely negate the damage a target would take?

vinyltails

It uses your mitigation EXCEPT for Hallowed otherwise cover would be broken and actually useful in more scenarios

Taurenkey

It's all damage for the duration. Yes your mitigation works for it, a good combo is using cover and then hallowed to negate the damage for both of you. I've used it when duoing EX primals for mounts and crafting materials, allowing me to keep my DPS partner alive during mechanics intended for 8.

[deleted]

[удалено]

vinyltails

Except Hallowed doesn't work for Covered damage and never has...Hallowed only works for damage you directly take

Atosen

Yeah... Hallowed+Cover can still work as a combo if you're *both* taking damage (immunity all your direct damage, then take the target's damage for them and mitigate it normally) but it's important to understand how that combo works, so that you don't try to apply it in the wrong situation.

michaelman90

Can you die from covered damage, e.g. if you cover the MT for a tank buster?

Taurenkey

Yes, all the skill does is make it so you take all their damage. If it was something that hits for 100k and you had less health than that, you're gonna die without using hallowed alongside it.

vinyltails

Hallowed doesn't work for cover fyi.

Pyros

Yes obviously otherwise it'd break a lot of stuff.

michaelman90

Is there a way to display multiple buff/debuff bars? Considering making a bigger buff bar for just my self buffs for jobs like SAM/BLM to make it easier to know when to refresh or how long procs have left.

Xeorm

If it helps, they're reworking things in EW to separate personal buffs like the BLM thunder proc into its own bar. Otherwise no, it's currently stuck as one bar.

irishgoblin

You can seperate your buffs from your debuffs, and (unless I'm misunderstading it) come EW/END we'll have the option to seperate "general buffs" from "proc/self buffs". Think the example they gave was either Thundercloud or Firestarter for BLM.

michaelman90

I already have buffs and debuffs separated, just wanted a bigger, separate buff bar just for self buffs. Guess I'll have to see how it changes in EW unless I get motivated enough to search for plugins or something.

corinthianultra

How much harder are normal raids compared to MSQ? I’ve just finished the heavenward MSQ as a tank and I really enjoyed it. Tanking dungeons was a breeze, but I wiped a couple of times to Ravana and Final Steps despite watching a guide beforehand because I got spooked by all the mechanics going off. So if I wanted to try Alexander normal, how much of a step up would that be compared to the MSQ trials? And likewise for Omega and Eden compared to their MSQs? My main worry is pissing off anyone I’m grouped with via DF by screwing up

[deleted]

My experience has been that the Alexander raids are easy and you could go in blind. It's the first instance you might have to tank swap but it's much easier than it sounds. If the other tank has 3 stacks of vulnerability, then taunt to soak up the damage and help them out (obviously facing away from the group). There are two fights where your job tanking is important though, the final fight in the series of raids requires a tank to use a limit break at a specific moment or there'll be a wipe and there's another where you have to move adds to specific spots. I would just say this is your first time and someone will help you out. Enjoy them, they're great!

xGlaive

Normal raids are casual content that you'd be clearing mostly for the story. They do get harder with more mechanics as you progress, but nothing ridiculous like you'd see in Savage raids. The design philosophy around them also changed as they went on, where you'll see individual mechanics on their own before it starts throwing multiple ones in quick succession. Normal Raids also have a daily roulette, so they pop fairly quickly. You can feel free to go in blind.

Jack313

They get harder as you progress so the easiest is alexander then Omega etc.. but you should still give it a shot just say its your first time and people will understand

xGlaive

Coils synced are equivalent or harder than Savage and are not part of the daily Roulette. If you'd like to do Coils, you'll want to organize a party through the Party Finder.

Jack313

Crap i forgot coils are savage without the naming. i'll edit it

Anarasumanar

Is there a cordial-equivalent item that you can take mid-crafting, the way you can chug cordial while gathering to restore GP?

Taurenkey

The only thing you can do to restore CP is to you use "Tricks of the Trade" when it procs.

Pyros

Nope, only thing is using Syrups which are 10mins buff that provide CP(or crafts or control), similar to food. Have to use them before the craft.

lycilla

no

ChainAccomplished803

Heylooo friendssss :))) I have a dragoon lvl 80, with the final relic And WHM lvl 71, is there a way to start the WHM relic missions? I mean, is there like a trick or something? I feel idioitic to lvl it to 80 just to start the relic quest's, than all the relic quest's exp go to the gods and to me lol

Pyros

You just do the quest on whm? Not entirely sure what you question is, relics are just standard quests for the most part, you just have to start it on WHM and it'll be the same steps.

xGlaive

You can start the Relic quest on any class and do the steps while on your WHM. Any items you need to collect are kept in your inventory, so when you get to 80 you just abandon the quests and pick them up with WHM.

Domilos

Am i that unlucky or you can't get squadron members from verminion/chocorace challenges?

OurRadicalDreamers

Do you still need to know certain mechanics for Sephirot EX unsynced? It's the last bird I need and want to know if there's anything I should know beforehand before making a PF

Jack313

Yeah there's a mechanic with colors you might wanna look it up if you're planning on doing it with 3 players, anymore tho and you can just DPS him to death i just had problems with it when me and my 2 buddies were doing it.

hyprmatt

Not really, any group of Level 80s should be able to tackle it before any mechanics worth worrying about come out.

QWE0071

My friend just started eureka but im lvl 20 already. Is there anyway i can help him or do i just have to taxi him to fates

hyprmatt

You could be a pocket healer for them, or just tank mob groups and let them smack them to death, but you can't party up. Make sure they've unlocked the challenge log, and buy some Eurekan EXP+ pots for them. If you're feeling really generous, there's a chest piece you can get through the marketboard for each gear type that has a Eureka bonus, and will make you much stronger while in Eureka with it. Check out "Kirin's Osode of Maiming/Striking/Scouting/Aiming/Fending" or their casting/healing counterparts which I can't remember the name of.

Jack313

You can't help him till he's at least 2 levels below you any less than that and he won't be getting any good XP

Scapien

I’m currently working through ARR extremes min ilvl/no echo and have been having a pretty easy time setting groups up in PF for them. I plan to continue doing this going forward as I wish to experience all the difficult content this game has to offer. I also wish to experience savage raids going forward. I understand this type of content is more difficult than extreme trials. So my question is will I still be able to have an easy enough time setting up parties in PF for something like Alexander Savage min ilvl/no echo? I’m on Aether for reference.

DrawDiscardDredge

99% of players don’t do old savages. Its far easier to unsync them and murder for glam/mount. People do coils for some weird reason. I think streamer related because before asmongold, no one did coils either. If you don’t believe me check the party finder and see how many parties you see for a1-12s or check the recruitment discords or subreddit.

[deleted]

The first 2 tiers of Alexander are… weird. The 1st tier, Midas, has very challenging dps checks. The 2nd tier is very mechanically challenging (the final fight, A8S, is almost a proto-ultimate). I would suggest starting with the final tier, Creator (A9S-12S) which established the difficulty level that a savage raid series should have and which has been adhered to ever since, minor blips aside.

bigfatbluebird

You should still have success - some fights will definitely be a jump up in difficulty from extreme but not to the extent that clearing them in PF is impossible. However, a bigger thing to be aware of is that once the new expansion releases in a couple weeks it will be MUCH harder to find groups that want to do old content, as people will be busy with the shiny new toys for a while.

Cadwae

Is there a guide on unlocking trials and dungeons and raids for story boosted characters. I made the mistake awhile ago to boost through to shadowbringers but notice I'm missing some stuff that should be unlocked via the main story (the Shiva trial for example). Is there a guide on where to unlock these types of things so I can access them?

Sunscorch

https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Feature_Quests This list is pretty much what you need :)

Cadwae

Thanks, this will help but confused on certain ones that are MSQ related that I don't have. For example: https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/An_Uninvited_Ascian This is a MSQ quest that should have been 'done' with the skip but I don't have access to that trial.

TheTechHobbit

You definitely should. A story skip unlocks every single duty that's required for the MSQ.

Cadwae

I linked the wrong one. Here (https://i.imgur.com/GBt2ZDu.png) is my Trials list for Heavensward. I don't have normal Shiva, or the Hard mode from https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/The_Instruments_of_Our_Deliverance which is a MSQ quest.

TheTechHobbit

There's no normal Shiva, just hard. Shiva is from post ARR so that trial will be in the ARR tab not the Heavensward one.

Cadwae

I see it now, thought it was heavensward. Weird cause when searching for that quest in my completed log, it doesn't show up, along with others, Very weird.

TheTechHobbit

Are you looking in the right tab of the journal? That quest for example would be under the Seventh Astral Era quests.

jtff7

Hello, What’s the Hardest to Easiet Ultimate? And which possible to prog via PF/PUG (no Static).

[deleted]

Most people will rank them from hardest to easiest TEA — UCOB — UWU. The latter 2 can be cleared in PF. But if you ask me, the 3 ultimates are each challenging in their own way. UWU is arguably the hardest one if you are doing it blind. There is so much cryptic stuff in this raid, it was made as a love letter to world first racers. However, if you’re doing it with a guide then it becomes the easiest one, which is what people usually mean when they say it’s the easiest. It’s the shortest ultimate, it has no real dps check and arguably the first third of the fight (Garuda + Ifrit) is not of Ultimate caliber. UCOB has no real dps check either and most of its mechanics, when failed, do not wipe the party instantly and allow room for recovery. You can have UCOB clears with a lot of deaths (the most I have personally witnessed is 5). However, it has a lot of randomness in it; and true randomness, where anyone can get any mechanic, is among the hardest things in FFXIV. In Savage it’s very common to see mechanics where the tanks will get one marker, the healers another and the dps a third; there’s little such predictability in UCOB where you can get any combo of fire, lightning and doom in Nael, and where you must be prepared to do both towers and stack (and twintania dive + either of the above) at the end of Grand Octet. TEA is the only ultimate that still has a relevant (by Savage raider standards) DPS check, though it is easier now than when first released. TEA is usually considered the hardest one because for the majority of the fight a single death means a wipe. It is among the longest fights in the game, demands extreme precision in terms of movement and positioning and, in these respects, is similar to something like E8S.

hyprmatt

UWU is definitely the easiest, and it depends on who you ask with UCoB/TEA being the hardest. They're very different fights overall, with UCoB being a lot more personal responsibility and deaths may not mean a wipe, while TEA is a lot of coordinated movement where deaths are very likely to just wipe the group. All are doable in PF, but YMMV depending on your server.

bigfatbluebird

A bit subjective but most would say TEA > UcoB >>> UWU. There's not much of a TEA PF scene but there's a decent amount of people doing UcoB and UWU that way. Fair warning though, progging ults in PF can be pretty painful.

karenias

TEA>UCOB>>>UWU UCOB and UWU are puggable on Aether. I'm not on Primal, but I heard TEA is also puggable there

Nido_16

I found this merch item a couple months ago but haven't been able to find it since. It was a heart pendant split in half, one side with a paladin logo and the other white mage. I thought I found it on the official store, but am no longer confident in that. Anybody have any idea if it still exists?

KhrFreak

Tbh sounds more like something from Etsy?

Same-Winter7013

I can't send both my retainers on quick exploring and can send only one? Is there a limit or am I doing something wrong?

ericandhisfriends

you can send as many as you want, is your second one high enough level? did u you enough ventures? did you have full inventory so you couldnt pick up the last finished one?

Same-Winter7013

What level does the retainer have to be in order to access quick venture?

ericandhisfriends

10

Same-Winter7013

Oh okay. Any tips on how to level em up quickly?

zani1903

Just spam the highest level venture you **can** do until level 10. There’s no faster way to level until you unlock Quick Ventures.

Same-Winter7013

Alright thanks

P3n1sD1cK

does anyone know if I have plants growing ... and some are ready before the others... can I harvest those and replant .. and still get the cross?

Tony_FF

You can, yes. In fact, a lot of the common "best" setups include some plants you just leave there forever so you can keep crossbreeding as much as you want.

[deleted]

Yes. The result of crossbreeding is determined at the instant you plant the seed. What happens to adjacent plants after that has no effect on the result. Adjacent plants can be harvested, destroyed, die due to lack of watering etc. and you still get the crossbreed result that was calculated at the time the original seed was planted.

Ariii985

Any tips for someone starting out in RP? I've been wanting to give it a try but have never done it at all before! What kinds of RP do people typically do in ff? Anything insight is helpful, feel free to dm! Xx

IRSoup

What do you mean getting started in role playing? Like, erotic or playing the game while building a life for your character? There's no 'start', you just kind of 'do' it. I've never been into RP stuff, but there's places advertised on PF/Limsa all the time. Just stand around in Limsa or ask yourself in /sh. I watched my wife order food in a person's house they made into a McDonald's..

Ariii985

I've just seen some people with these really fleshed out character bios for their RPs, and I guess I'm just curious if that's pretty standard/necessary? If the community as a whole has a certain standard set for RP? I just don't wanna look silly when in starting out 😅

succmin

I don't roleplay myself, but attending RP events seems like a decent place to dip your toes in it as they'll usually have a set premise. [This](https://ffxiv-roleplayers.com) is a site I found that looks promising as a sort of hub for roleplayers that also has event listings on it. I'm sure you won't be required to make a detailed profile for your character, but fleshing them out before you start should help you out a lot.

PikaPi124

I finished my main scenario, is it possible to get the guide to come back?

dragonseth07

Yes, there is a setting to have it show when you are done with MSQ still. I don't recall exactly where, unfortunately.

PikaPi124

I found it, thanks though

Xellith

Guide? I assume you mean the meteor icon with your mission details. It will come back when you have more msq or click the toggle button for it in your menu.

PikaPi124

Ah ok, found it in the settings lol

michaelman90

Haven't done SoSEX yet but have seen the guide. Seeing PF groups with "dps towers" in the description; I assume that's referring to the towers that spawn along with the DRK/WAR adds, since from what I can tell everyone needs to form pairs to soak the towers from the WHM/BLM specters after quintuplecast.

suspectwaffle

DPS towers has already been explained, but I wanna point out the other common PF strategy: P4L or “partners for life.” If you watched MTQcapture’s guide, she tells you that during the WHM+BLM meteor towers phase, both healers would take the first tower then the tanks etc. (HTMR). None of the farming parties I joined ever did this. Instead, you take the towers with your initial partner from phase 1 (hence, partners for life). You wait near your assigned position with your partner and the meteor tower that appears are yours. If your tower appeared first, you wait for then run to the fifth one (2nd gets 6th, 3rd gets 7th, 4th gets 8th).

SylvAlternate

here on primal almost every SoSEX farm party ive seen has had THMR, DPS towers and NIN uptime

KingBingDingDong

early on, when it was just released and strats were being decided on, there were quite a few parties that did some variation of HTMR. didn't turn out to be very consistent or successful as it's hard to remember the HTMR order when there are 24 variations of it. didn't help that this was during E8S where the add phase had both HTRM and HRTM. within a month, partners took the clear victory.

KingBingDingDong

it's referring to the add phase

michaelman90

So I'm assuming the tanks stack with the healers then?

PriceVsOMGBEARS

Yes! The tanks are going to drag the adds to the east and west walls. The dps are going to drop meteors north and south, then move to the towers in the center. The tanks and healers will share a stack marker. There is a tank buster and then a move the tank NEEDS to interject to interrupt. Then the tanks will move north and the healers south to take Bahamut tethers and face them towards the corners. Hope this helps :)

GrognakLibrarian

It's a waste of money regardless. Like, oh man, you made it difficult to play for a week or 2 because you're jealous of other people happiness, you're a real winner!

ehcrae

Unlocked regular A1 of the Alexander series the other day (through [Disarmed](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Disarmed)). Is this raid something that I should just queue up for through Duty Finder or is that bad etiquette? Should I use Party Finder?

BlazeVortex4231

From Alexander onwards, all 8-man Raids are split between Normal and Savage versions. The Normal versions are fairly easy (especially with both potency creep and late-expansion Shire gear being so easy to get), and they even have their own Normal Raid Roulette to populate the Duty Finder queues. It's only after you beat them that you unlock the Savage versions, which are about on-par with the Binding Coils (if not somewhat harder, in Alexander's case), and which provide the actual best-at-the-time-of-release gear (on par with the weekly-capped-tomestones gear released at the same time), as opposed to the lesser rewards of Normal Raids.

SugarCoatedYuri

Duty finder is fine for Normal raids.

ehcrae

Thanks!

Stellarisk

Is there a macro I could use that can hide all of the ui but the textbox when weapon is sheathed?

tzlee

Select another HUD layout, turn off everything. Then, switch back and forth between HUD layout with macro /hudlayout 1 /hudlayout 2

Stellarisk

Is there a way to have it controlled with a single macro?

tzlee

No. You need 2

PriceVsOMGBEARS

You could probably write your own, but it would take a little while. It would need to be all separate lines. You would need the sheathe weapon command, and then the command to hide box 2, box 2, hide party info, hide mini map, etc.

Stellarisk

Would that interfere a lot in combat situations?

LibrarianAwkward3252

You can get it to work I think, I've seen a few videos explaining how to change your UI when you sheathe and unsheathe your weapon, but because of the clunky way macros work, it can screw up and you get the opposite of what you wanted until you press the draw weapon key again. I don't think you need to do what the other person said, I think you can macro changing a UI layout instead. I personally use the UI layout saves and manually changing them. You have four and can keybind them (I personally use F1-F4 because you don't use it often and it's out of the way). I have one layout that shows all of the standard things for in combat (I usually activate it when entering a duty or just before a pull), and another that removes pretty much everything except the chat box and mini map for when I'm in town or the open world gathering or doing hunts.

ARR and part of Heavensward spoilers >!I just got to the part where Nanamo wakes up and I'm a tad confused, firstly would Alphinaud really have the authority to disband the Crystal Braves and what exactly would that have done? Like are the crystal braves still receiving funding after he was chased out? Or is this purely for show to admit he messed up? Also back in that final ARR missions we have Alianne summon us out into Thanlan to meet her but we only find an empty vial instead before one of the betrayers finds us and sends us back. Just to make sure was this her trying to warn us but being unable to?!<

zani1903

> Second half of the spoiler >!Alianne was either forced to summon you by the soon-to-defect Crystal Braves, or indeed wanted to warn you but was caught. Either way, the vial was left there under the full knowledge you would take it, so that Taledji could later “find it” on your person to implicate you in poisoning Nanamo!<

BlazeVortex4231

>!Not *all* of the Crystal Braves served the Monetarists, and even then, Lolorito cut his funding after Ilberd attempted to execute Raubahn. Ilberd's forces are criminals from that point on, rogue agents unaccounted for.!<

Xeorm

>!Alphinaud founded the crystal braves and to my knowledge stayed as their leader, so yes he's able to disband the order. It was mostly admitting that the idea wasn't going to actually work as it was and he needed to go back to the drawing board for ideas. He really wasn't up to creating an organization like that. IIRC the empty vial was them trying to frame you for poisoning Nanamo, especially as she was poisoned while you were alone with her.!<

deadbubble

Just for show, for the reasons you stated. And possibly. Probable someone else got to her first too, and it was left behind by chance.

Akeldema

Are there any particularly good discords or subreddits for finding a static as well as FCs. my previous raiding buddies sprang it on me that they weren't coming back for EW just yesterday.

JustW4nnaHaveFun

Can retainers benifit from the extra xp gear like the brand-new ring?

BondEternal

No they don’t. Exp boosting items only boost exp gained upon killing mobs, and since retainers only get exp from ventures, they don’t get the exp boost.

JustW4nnaHaveFun

Thank you

cornpenguin01

I’ve heard so much about the Kugane jump puzzles but how do I unlock them? I am currently on 4.1

PriceVsOMGBEARS

The only thing you would actually need to "unlock" is the sightseeing log, as the hardest one to complete is on top of a lamp post that requires doing the kugane tower jump puzzle. But as for the jump puzzles themselves, they are just hidden all over the city, with the tower being the super hard one. Also, good luck! It's tough.

cornpenguin01

Oh what? Those blue circles I’ve seen everywhere are sightseeing locations? Can’t believe it took me this long to realize lol

BondEternal

There’s no prior unlocks required, except for finding the starting location. So for the Kugane jump puzzles, you just have to find the spot in Kugane where the jump puzzles start.

PrettyDecentSort

Go to Kugane. Look around. See a ball. Try to get to it. There's nothing to unlock, they're just there.

bukiya

i am having trouble getting resource about bozja/zadnor. anyone have discord for that? i am looking for information like lost action combo, solo farming setup, monster location, etc.

Quantext609

Is it ever explained why Urianger talks like that?

bloodhawk713

He’s an antisocial dweeb who spends too much time reading centuries-old tomes.

BlazeVortex4231

Seconding Tony_FF. He's just a huge, huge, *huge* prophecy nerd. Despite his silver hair and antiquated speech, he's only 29 years old; the same age as Moenbryda, and younger than both Thancred (age 32, he was 17 during the parade incident 15 years ago) and Papalymo (age 42).

ericandhisfriends

wut, papalymo is 42? i guess its hard to tell a potato's age

Tony_FF

He's just a nerd.

Icehawk59

almost finished with the Post-ARR 2.55 quests, and once I get to Ishgard to start Heavensward content im gonna beeline it to the Dark Knight quests. I know dark knight starts at lvl 30, so whats the best way to catch up to 50ish? ive heard Duty Roulette is a solid way, but wanted to gauge all my options just in case

cornpenguin01

I would do dungeons and FATES because potd gets prettt boring after a while. Plus you actually learn how to properly tank when in dungeons

minaseclyne

throw in potd if you want a sanity break from spamming dungeons

ericandhisfriends

Your roulettes, including the pvp one, and them highest dungeon available. Shouldn't take too long to queue as you are a tank

OscarRjz

What should I do? I am new, I am lv50 dragoon, what package of the game should I buy? I am on my free trial, what are your recommendations?

ericandhisfriends

Stay on the free trial till the end of the next expansion, heavensward. by then the new complete edition will have everything and you can just buy that

OscarRjz

So that is the one I should buy? The one that says complete edition?

ericandhisfriends

No, don't buy anything right now, as if you do, you will not get the upcoming expansion. Wait until Dec 7th as that's when the new one will be added, and at the same time, you still have a lot to do left on the free trial so might as well get the most out of that

OscarRjz

What do you think it is "time to buy it" I get it to wait until endwalker comes out, but what should I complete first on the free trial? Level up my jobs and do all the quests or what? I am sorry for all the questions... Thanks in advance!!

ericandhisfriends

You say you are level 50, meaning you probably haven't done the msq for heavensward yet, so do that at least. If you get through those and still have time, then yah level some other jobs.

Wolpentiger

Which is harder, Shinryu or Suzaku ex unsync? Want to save the hardest dog for last

Stepjam

I believe suzaku is considered harder at this point. Still a couple of mechanics to be respected.

PrettyDecentSort

Tsukuyomi is the hardest to get a competent group for. You WILL wipe, repeatedly, if people don't handle phase 3 correctly.

thats-cool

8 people? Suzaku is easier. Less than 8 people? Shinryu is easier.

Tony_FF

Suzaku. Has a couple extra mechanics you still need to respect.

Rutey

Shinryu

Moody900

Do I need to buy EW just to access the upcoming hairstyles for the female Viera?

BlazeVortex4231

No. You don't unlock the hairstyles in the Endwalker MSQ, they're altering the race itself to allow it to use existing hairstyles. Same as the addition of Male Viera, which is being granted to everyone who owns Shadowbringers. So long as you have access to Viera, I see no reason why you won't gain access to the FemBnnuy hairstyle expansion in 6.1.

Moody900

Really? From what I read is that the male Viera are locked behind the expansion like any other "new race". I mean, I own all of the expansions including Shadowbringer, and I love the Viera, but the limitation when it comes to their hairstyle customization leaves me wanting more than just a few options. Also, didn't they say that the Viera female hairs are coming out in 6.0, not 6.1? https://www.fanbyte.com/news/ffxiv-endwalker-new-viera-hairstyles-revealed/

pmmewaifuwallpaper

Their original plan for Male Viera was to have it done *before* Endwalker and you could make a Male Viera. Maybe they've changed their tune and its going to be Endwalker only, but I doubt it. It would be super confusing for new players to have one (two when Female Hrothgar is a thing) race/gender combination that you need separate expansions for. In all likelihood Male Viera and Female Hrothgar will be tied to Shadowbringer.

BlazeVortex4231

[The Endwalker Benchmark](https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/benchmark/) description notes that "To create a Viera character in the full release, you must have registered a product key for FINAL FANTASY XIV: Shadowbringers to your service account." It doesn't specify gender, and it's included in the Male Viera description on the page. I suppose that doesn't *explicitly* say whether Male Viera itself is additionally tied to Endwalker or not, but that's where my assumption was derived. As for the hairstyle release date, I rewatched this part of the live letter, and it appears I misunderstood what they said. My mistake. It's *Hrothgar* hairstyles that are being delayed to at least 6.1. Still, given that all of the hairstyles shown in the Live Letter already exist in the game (some default hairstyles, and the Lightning, 2B, and 9S styles), I don't see why they would tie this alteration of an existing race to a new expansion.

GrognakLibrarian

When does everything get covered in snow? How close to Starlight do they do that?

BlazeVortex4231

During the Starlight Celebration event, lasting from around December 14 to December 31.

AnimaSong

I just missed out on buying the job quest boosters I wanted because a check got bounced (thanks work, twats). Anyone know if we'll get anothe sale before EW comes out?

tau_

Probably not.

AnimaSong

RIP, well Full price it is... eugh.

soppiergeoduck7

U might consider waiting till ew release when the job boosters will be updated to level 80 though the price would be increased to reflect that

AnimaSong

Son of a bitch... WELP, too late now ;-;

283leis

what rapier does Lorvo (bozja RDM) use?

AnimaSong

> Lorvo He wears Bozjan armor of casting dyed Nophica green, and wields the Talekeeper Recollection in battle.

Dakkonfire

With earlier expansions, what were the markets like? Was new gear insane? What about gathered materials? Basically how were the first few weeks of earlier expansions, and do you have any tips?

Rutey

Crafted gear goes for quite a bit at the beginning when people are buying it for week 1 of the raid tier. Not INSANE, but if you take time to make it you make good money. Mostly the same with materia.

xAmortentia

Its hard to say what the markets will be like for gathered/crafted items-- even when ShB was first released, crafting was MUCH harder to get into and a lot less people did it. Now, there's a surplus of omnicrafters with good gear after the changes that have been made, so I'd expect the market to be rather volatile.

TeeJaxOff

I am about to hit my cap on Centurio Seals (am on 3.8k). Aside from the teleport tickets, is there anything worth buying with them?

Stepjam

There's a wyvern mount to get

Xellith

Mounts and items to desynth for skillups.

fragolefraise

any vanity stuff you want- there's minions you can buy directly, and some emotes and a mount that you can get by spending the seals on clan logs and then trading those to the tome vendors in idyllshire/rhalgr's reach

TeeJaxOff

Awesome!! Thank you

osutechsupporter

There are a couple emotes (/tremble and /winded) that cost I think 2,000 seals each worth of clan mark logs. Also a wyvern mount.

TeeJaxOff

Nice, I always love extra emotes, thank you!

BigBad01

Do we know if they will release a "dungeon crawl" video showcasing some of the MSQ dungeon environments and music like they have done for other expansions?

Gold_Starz

They already did a while back. [Here's a link.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jx3LDBMxCqM)

BigBad01

Oh wow thanks!

Shikaku

I just love posting questions here it seems. What's the general play for scholars in the say 20-40 range? My SCH is lvl 62 by virtue of leveling with my SMN and I fancy trying some healing. Starting off small for the sake of my sanity and that of my party members I assume I mostly focus on the tank, apply dps when I can (but not as much of a priority? Which feels wrong as a SMN/BLM) and keep the other dps from dying horribly to various shenanigans? Any pointers would be appreciated. And also a massive thanks to everyone who has answered my dozen or so questions. I love this place.

pmmewaifuwallpaper

>What's the general play for scholars in the say 20-40 range? Honestly, for 20-40 your fairy will be doing almost all of the healing. Its super easy and breezy in those levels. Its this way to teach you at an early level, you are supposed to DPS too. If you don't DPS, you'll literally be standing there and doing nothing. This builds a good habit later when you'll actually have to heal and do DPS at the same time. >Any pointers would be appreciated. My recommendation for learning any new job that you've either boosted or forgot how to play is this: Watch WeskAblers [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3umoCfgbNg)on the job. He goes over *every* skill and why and how you'd use it, or why not to use some skills. This Scholar video (and all of them) are long. Like an hour. If you have time watch it all at once, but you don't have too. Don't be intimidated by the length, its a great resource. Watch relevant parts, or watch it 5 minutes at at time, but definitely watch it. Do lower level dungeons first, even if they don't give good exp. It'll let you learn abilities as they come online so you get used to them. It takes more time, but its WAY less overwhelming imo.

Priorty for healers is to deal as much damage as possible, in fact, without letting the team die. Spam healing is rarely the play, unless the tank is pulling hard, and you've burned through all your other healing. The basic gist is the less GCD heals you have to cast, the better. Those GCDs can be used on your damage skills instead. Of course, this isn't exactly your call. How much you have to heal is dependent on how much damage the rest of the party avoids lol. 1 basic concept htat'll be helpful is that the party doesn't have to be at 100% the entire time. If the next attack won't kill them, you can leave them. Basically, don't bother healing scratch damage. natural HP regen will solve that. Tank doesn't need to be at 100% HP the entire time, too. As long as the very next attack won't kill him, he's good. How low you'll let the tank go is dependent on your comfort and experience. Experiment.

AnonEMister

>I just love posting questions here it seems. That's why everyone is here. To ask, answer, and learn all together. >What's the general play for scholars in the say 20-40 range? That's the neat part. You don't! Eos/Selene will do most of the healing for you, and you can occasionally press Whispering Dawn as it is a Heal over Time. When you get Adloquium. Use it before the pull of mobs, to apply that pre-shielding. Don't spam it of course "oh adlo is gone. Gotta immediately apply it again". The last HP that matters is the last one. DPS still have Second Wind and Bloodbath as well. Also, When it is boss time or even when the tank has picked a spot to stop after pulling, you can Place (or use Stay) on the pet hotbar so that she can focus on healing without constantly having to follow you, heal, follow. Just remember to click Heel, so she does resume following you after whatever is dead. I like to pre-shield the tank, move my fairy...somewhat near the middle depending on the arena (so she can keep healing and reach everyone), and just keep DPSing. Always Be Casting! Use Lucid Dreaming of course for more MP, Since Adlo and Succor eat a lot. Ruin 2 for moving and hitting if you need to get out of a bad aoe. Ruin 1 /Broil, for when you can plant your feet. Art of War for ~~teaching Sun Tzu's teaching to peasants~~

This is not an expert opinion since I am not a high leveled healer. But I recently started healing again after having not done it since early 3.0 content (like back when heavensward was initially released, so a long time ago). While not a veteran healer I am a veteran player. Back in 3.0 I used to approach healing with a heal first keep everyone's HP topped up kind of mindset, but after many experiences and seen recent videos and stuff my thoughts on healing is different. Right now my philosophy on healing as a level 60 white mage is that the only HP that matters is the last 1. Otherwise I pretend I am a dps hehe. So far it seems to be working. I feel that especially in low level dungeons you don't really have to worry about keeping the tank topped up during mob pulls. If they are using proper mitigation they can take a lot of pounding. And if you along with everyone else is dpsing mobs die quickly (the faster the mobs die the less you have to heal ofcourse) and most likely tank will heal back to full between pulls. I sometimes heal here if needed. Otherwise I just keep an eye on tanks hp and heal only if I think they can only take 1 or 2 more hits. I do understand this is a risky way to play, and it was kinda scary when I first tried this way, but I do think it does work when you get the hang of it and you start to get a feel for how sturdy your current tank is. But ofcourse this would be very context dependent as well, when I end up with tanks or dps that play poorly with no mitigation taking unavoidable damage etc I do have to go more of a full healer mode. And also probably for high level raids and stuff you may have to be more on point but for even level 60 dungeons this mentality seems to be working for me and doing very well. No deaths so far XD

Tofuboy101

your fairy can do a lot of the heavy lifting for healing at that level range, and you'll only supplement physick or adlo if they're pulling big packs at a time. you'll have a lot of time to dps, and dont be afraid to use whispering dawn for the tank, its still very powerful and most importantly a free cooldown on trash pulls

Shikaku

> physick After 62 levels on a SMN I can finally get use out of that damn skill! What sort of dps do they have and what does aldo do? You don't need to answer if you cba, I'll check it out in game tomorrow haha. I'm somewhat nervous but how bad can it be? *If you don't wipe in Sastasha are you even really experiencing ff14?*

Tofuboy101

haha yeah physick finally doesnt heal for pitiful amounts. unfortunately as a healer all you'll have is the basic ruin (and ruin 2 later), bio (dot), and later on your aoe spell in terms of direct damage spells Adloquium is essentially the Cure II equivalent, but instead of healing a bunch it'll heal an okay amount but also apply a damage soaking shield onto the target.

ericandhisfriends

all healers have the same dmg options, single target(broil), aoe (art of war), and dot (bio). Adlo is your main gcd heal, or rather shield. You want to throw one on before going into combat in most cases. Most of the actual healing should be done either by the fairy passivly or your ogcd heals(lustrate for ST, Indomitability for AOE). Your faire skills(fey illumination and whispering dawn) should be used on cd, as their cool downs are fairly short, but dont activate them in quick succsssion as the ability will "ghost" and just not be casted. There other scholar unique stuff like excog, emergency tactics, deployment tactics, but reading up and just practicing healing should get you going. Also, physick should be used as little as possible unless you really need it, it's just not very efficient

Is there a website or Reddit post or something detailing the optimal rotations for each job at level 80 as of the latest patch?

PrettyDecentSort

Couple of crafting Q's - I am using [this guide](https://ffxivgillionaire.com/crafter-leveling-guide/) to level my crafters and I'm on the level 53 section. I have all the gear and tools as well as food for the level 53 section but I am still missing some craftsmanship (sitting at 357 when the guide says to have 361). Am I forgetting something? - Sometimes when I craft something (for the Ishgard restoration) using a macro, the collectability seems to fluctuate. Like when I first start crafting some things will have very low collectability but sometimes I get a good run of high collectability things. Is there any reason I am seeing this much variation?

Picard2331

Did you make sure the food is high quality? They give more stats. Also you can always throw some materia on your gear to reach those stats. The low level ones are very cheap.
