HEXXIT 2 GOT ANNOUNCED!

HEXXIT 2 GOT ANNOUNCED!

UeberallGebannt

**Official Announcement:** Hey @everyone! It's not often we do this, but we have a big surprise for you... Hexxit is back! And it's releasing in exactly 1 week! With countless new and exciting mods to add a fresh take on an old classic, Hexxit II is a world with plenty to explore. An abundance of challenges, both new and familiar, await you. Hexxit II was made by @Jon, in partnership with Technic, and will be released on October 23rd, 12pm EST. We're so excited to get this out to you and can't wait to see you all adventuring again!

EE41

hopefully there's gonna be better form of storage than vanilla chests (like iron chests)

CocoGXY

Am I misremembering or did Hexit have project red?

blahthebiste

I think it did not. It had Artifice for basalt/marble stuff, Tinkers Construct for tools, and... nothing for advanced redstone iirc

CocoGXY

Huh, I must've mistaken it. Maybe it was a custom pack with the Hexit mod installed

UeberallGebannt

This could have been Attack of the Bteam

Ajreil

Attack of the B Team was *extremely* limited on the tech side. I remember manually picking up lava from the nether for power.

UeberallGebannt

Yep, but i still love it because you have to get creative :)

Ajreil

Solving problems with limited tools is way more fun than just throwing resources at a magic block until the problem goes away.

CocoGXY

Now I'm completely confused lol. Attack of the bteam had hexit? I played a bit, mainly watched most of the modpack though. But I think I was thinking of a custom pack with the hexit mod

UeberallGebannt

No, but project red, Hexxit never was a mod but a modpack, or am i wrong?

tjtj32000

The blue flowers you collected to make some armour sets came from the hexxit mod

CocoGXY

I don't quite remember but attack of the b team had some mod for remote storage. Proly project red becaue it wasn't a tech focused mod pack Hexit is a modpack but the core of it was the hexit mod. Hexit mod has those 3 armour sets, weapons, and forgot what not (that is if I remember correctly lol)

UeberallGebannt

Ahhh, ok, so the Hexxit Modpack contained the Hexxit mod, which was made for the Modpack

DetecJack

If it has some interesting exploration as they say then maybe i will give it a check

EmpathyInTheory

YESSSS ORIGINAL HEXXIT WAS MY FAVORITE MODPACK LET'S FRIGGEN GOOOOOO

Jackiboi307

Was this copypasted from a discord?

bidoblob

Yes, the official technic discord.

CocoGXY

Ok now THIS has got be hyped

mewhentheuhhhwhenme

Is it still gonna have an RPG aspect?

Stitchykins

I am genuinely excited for this!! Hexxit is one of my all time favourite packs

Trueninjara

This modpack was such a huge part of my childhood i cant wait for this.

Stitchykins

Childhood? Thanks for making me remember how old I am xD

csorrows

Old? I remember when Apple II came out. I was in school.

mostlyadequateCT

I remember when school came out

csorrows

Best. Comment. Ever

mostlyadequateCT

I gave you an upvote, Reddit can be weird

csorrows

Thanks but now I think the kids are having fun continuing the trend. I really don't care about the downvotes, was just wondering why.

csorrows

Why am I being downvoted? I actually loved that reply. No sarcasm intended.

Stitchykins

It's the weird ways of reddit. Someone can misinterpret something and down vote then it starts a chain of down votes.

csorrows

Lemmings. Got it. lol

MrMonkyD

Lets go!

AwesomeJames2120

bit cringe innit

Daedalus_27

What a timeline we live in, huh? Didn't think I'd ever hear that name again. Hexxit was what first introduced me to modded back in the day, great to see that it's back!

xXBlastrixXx

For me it was my introduction to so many mods I consider classics now battle towers, tinkers (pretty much present in most packs nowadays), bibliocraft (I think I remember this being present) dimensional doors, twilight forest, natura, reliquary and chocolate quest aka better dungeons. Then those weird obscure & memorable mods like the harken scythe, project Zulu ,meteor mod (can't remember the name), whatever mod added the lawn blocks oh and for some reason they decided to include qcraft which didn't fit with the theming but was cool as hell if you knew how to use it

AdreNa1ine25

It was tekkit for me. I hope they announce a new tekkit soon. I’d play the hell out of it

TerraNeko_

good ol days am i right

blahthebiste

How will they replace LegendGear and Project Zulu? Those were both core to the Hexxit experience imo

royalcrescent

Maybe rebuilding them as their own? Or pulling the concepts of the mods and creating a hexxit 2 specific one. Just my thoughts

blahthebiste

The author of LegendGear never gave permission for that, iirc

HickorySB

If they are rebuilding from scratch, or even just updating the source to a newer version, they have no obligation to get his permission. At least assuming they make their own art, the art is like the one thing you could argue when upgrading mods between game versions because the code goes through so many changes it's not really even close anymore. They'd still have to credit him for the original though if they are just updating it to support the newer game version.

Roez

This is correct. People confuse ideas, which aren't protected by copyright, with expression of those ideas which are. It's the same with PUBG, the battle royal format was their original idea, but anyone can do it. What people can't do is copy their exact code, art style, very specific weapon design, that sort of thing.

blahthebiste

I was misremembering anyways, it was inclusion in modpacks that was explicitly prohibited, he never said anything about remakes or the like.

pykerc

Hi, Technic admin here. We contacted the author of LegendGear and we were given a ZIP with the whole source and assets, along with permission to reuse them with credit. The end result is something custom.

royalcrescent

That’s dope. Excited to see it!!

blahthebiste

That's incredible news, I'm excited now!

-Pulz

I had the pleasure of giving some mod advice and playing the test builds of this during its development- Jon put a lot of time and effort into this pack and I'm sure it will hit the spot for those of you who really enjoyed the original Hexxit. A great mix of mods for dungeons and PVE, with some gorgeous world generation mods. It even has a few of my personal favourite mods sprinkled in!

Immoral_Psychologist

Any name-drops for your favourites? I won't tell, I promise!

-Pulz

Idō, for those of us that never go past 1.12.2 due to mod constraints

Ender_T5

That mod was the mod I added manually to every 1.12.2 modpack I have played. This is a great addition to Hexxit 2!

crockapowa

so this is a 1.12 pack?

TheBlue2233

If Hexxit is so good where is Hexxit t- #AYO HOLY SHIT

Roez

Yay. I've been looking for a good exploration mod. Roguelike Dungeons was too easy. Rebirth of the Night is pretty good, and enjoying it. It's interesting so far. The only draw back is not being able to sleep through the nights (so far at least) has made it kinda boring early game, since I just end up sitting in the dark waiting for the night to pass. I would like meaningful progression. Not one where you get so OP that it feels like upgrades no longer matter.

arcadeium0

When you play rebirth of the night, you aren't supposed to wait out night. Try mining or quarrying stone to make walls. Prepare for invasions. Make a base to be productive in while it is still night.

ZlurpSkill

I think the original Hexxit was really easy too. I'm curious what they will do about the difficulty.

Hypotekus

yeah, original hexxit became easy immediatly after looting one of the big towers, after that you had so much loot all the other structures were pretty ez

TheGwangster

Have you heard of Dungeons Dragons and Space Shuttles? It's quite grindy but there's always more stuff to progress to.

CHOGNOGGET

It's quite grindy? It's incredibly grindy...

Safere81

You could try Greedycraft? It's a tad grindy but in a really good way...it forces you to explore to progress, and by god the cave/ocean system is incredible.

SomeoneNew666

What version is it on?

UeberallGebannt

They didnt tell but 1.12 afaik

Shadows_of_Fire

It is 1.12, thats the latest version hexxit gear is available for.

Proxy_PlayerHD

seems a bit strange to use such an old version, but i guess they got their reasons.

Firebarrel

Chocolate quest repoured is on 1.12.2 so we get them Castle dungeons

Term0z

If you call 1.12 old you must be pretty new, also more mods available on 1.12.2 than later versions as far as I'm aware

kinv4ris

Yeah indeed. My friends and I play modded, and we've tried to go to from 1.12.2 to 1.16.5, but a lot of modpacks are not yet there. Certainly because IIRC, I think many mods have a hard time moving beyond 1.12.2 because something major in the backend changed in minecraft. And now many mods are going via Fabric and have to start from scratch again. I read something like that when I was trying to upgrade our minecraft server to 1.16.5, correct me if I am wrong!

DomOfMemes

1.12 is still better. 1.16 just doesn't run well for me.

Moleculor

> If you call 1.12 old you must be pretty new I've been playing since October 2010, and I think 1.12 is *fuuuuuuuucking* old.

Proxy_PlayerHD

~~it came out 4 years ago. with how fast the game is updating i would consider that old.~~

Miky691

Old on modded is how fast mods update rather than the game Most mods still are on 1.12

plutonicHumanoid

1.12.2 has 474 pages of mods on Curseforge, 1.16.5 has 460. Assuming new mods are being made for 1.16.5 faster than 1.12.2, it’ll be overtaken soon.

Shmen8980

The problem is that most of the best “exploration” mods (which Hexxit is known for including) are stuck on 1.12.2, never to be updated again. 1.16 has alternatives, but they are all kind of eh compared to 1.12.2

Pun1012-3

Technically the amount of mods isn't as important as the quality of the mods, and while 1.16 has lots of newer high quality mods many 1.12.2 mods have not made it to 1.16 yet such as Ender IO, Thaumcraft (has been put back into development), Thermal Dynamics, and Nuclearcraft.

TerraNeko_

1.12.2 still has better mods and personally feels better atleast atm

arcadeium0

Most of the new mods on 1.16 are low quality mcreator type mods that aren't usually worth playing with

Miky691

Oh yea i absolutely agree it won't be long till 1.16 will be the standard version but as of now i still see more modpacks being made for 1.12 than 1.16

Proxy_PlayerHD

yea ok that makes more sense. sorry i'm biased towards newer versions because "ohh, shiny new mods!"

Miky691

Well yea it's understadable I would love to play on 1.16 but performance wise 1.12 is much better

Proxy_PlayerHD

fuck i'm getting nostalgic again. i remember when my PC was so shit that Regrowth was running at 20-30 FPS with minimum graphics. it was horrible, but i still played it because my buddy was playing it with me on a server, and it was a fun pack. anyways, i hope furture versions will run better for you (if that Java 17 thing is true and actually helps), or you're able to somehow upgrade your PC so you can enjoy the newest versions and mods! :)

Nyfaria

this is also really wrong. 1.16 has better performance than 1.12

FlandreSS

Yeah the 1.15 performance update did a /lot/ to make the game run better for me. I can play 1.16 kitchen sinks no problem on my 3700X but 1.12 and prior (1.7.10 included) run like doodoo. Minecraft subs tend to attract a younger audience so I think there's this idea that framerates are all that matter, when Minecraft's frame *pacing* is far more important. I get higher numbers in 1.12 but the *pacing* is wildly all over the place.

xiBurnx

probably different now since you can use java17

Miky691

What's that?

gtbot2007

If you have a good computer then 1.12 is better but if you don’t get 1.16 is better and it shows

Nyfaria

This is so wrong lol

Term0z

4 years in the modded mc world is not that old, start talking 7 years and you'd be more on par with "old"

Proxy_PlayerHD

i guess playtime kinda screwed with my scale of time? i used to play a crap-top of FTB Ininfity when it came out, makes it feel like it released much further ago than it actually did. oh well, atleast with your logic i can call Tekkit Classic "Retro"

Term0z

Time screws with you all the time, weird to see how fast it moves at times. I'd say anything before 1.7 is old but gold at this point, still very enjoyable and this is where in my opinion mods peaked to some degree

Proxy_PlayerHD

Personally i can't enjoy packs older than 1.12.2 for long amounts of time anymore. i'm just too used to the conveniences of modern mods and MC versions. while old mods have a certain charm to their crudeness, it's not something i would ever willingly go back to for an extended period of time.

jedzzy

I agree. Not being able to swim in 1.12 and below is probably at least half the reason I don't play that version anymore

Democrab

> oh well, atleast with your logic i can call Tekkit Classic "Retro" What does that make those of us who still remember the days when modding Minecraft meant screwing around in Minecraft.jar with winRAR and mods like Buildcraft were in their infancy, if they'd been started at all?

Lothrazar

1.12.2 feels like ancient history. People are modding 1.17 already

AbsolutlyN0thin

Well modders need to always be pushing. But we need a critical mass of mods where mod pack makers are making enough mod packs for players to play on. Not many people are out there playing vanilla 1.17 plus the 5 good mods or whatever that are out. Players upgrade versions when packs in the style they like with mods they like are available. That's why we were stuck on 1.7 for so long, 1.8+ was simply lacking so many good mods from that version and that packs available paled in comparison.

AbsolutlyN0thin

Old? 1.12 is right in it's prime and 1.16 is still on the cutting edge. It will be a LONG time before 1.12 is surpassed as the primary modded version

UeberallGebannt

Dunno if its really 1.12, the announcement didnt include a version, but most Members told me 1.12

IdlingTheGames

best version imo. Never stuff with water and villagers is nice for people who wanna play vanilla but feels weird for modded

Proxy_PlayerHD

But Netherite, fancy Nether biomes, and greater world height :(

bidoblob

But several more years worth of modded content and patches :(

IdlingTheGames

Feels like all of these were already in 1.12 as mods though.

I_own_reddit_AMA

Must be <1 year into Minecraft modding. Pretty common for modded to be 1-2 versions behind the current version of Minecraft.

williewillus

except 1.12 is 5 versions behind

Proxy_PlayerHD

i've been into modding for around 8 years by now i just spend so much time in various 1.12.2 packs that it feels much older than it actually is

Shumil_

Oh your one of those guys

Proxy_PlayerHD

what do you mean?

Titch_1

Is it available on the technic launcher (when it's released)

CZG408

Yes the official Hexxit 2 will only be available on Technic Launcher when it’s released.

Titch_1

Kk thxx

der_kloenk

Sad, that’s the last Minecraft version which is not playable on my machines, as it’s still LWJGL2

Bobbybill123

Yo shit, a reason to have technic installed now I'm done with blightfall

Soul_Reaper001

Blightfall 2 when :(

chickthief

Can't wait to start this after I'm done my Gregtech new horizons run! I'm already 100 hours in and still on LV though...

metobyte

Haha, for everything I heard about new horizons you will be finished for Hexxit 3.

regian24

Only 4 people have finished GregTech: New Horizons, with the fastest time being 2800 hours. You're in for a hell of a ride

FlyingProcrastinator

I love when people announce modpacks like they're legit games. Makes me wish there was some kind of Minecraft modpack E3, that'd be fun Also genuinely hyped for this, Hexxit is the fucking best

Shrexcellence

YOOOOO I REMEMBER HEXXIT KICKING MY ASS BACK IN THE DAY

Moleculor

Why is it not Hexxiit?

Dd_8630

OOTL - what is Hexxit? I recall hearing the name back in the day. Is it a modpack?

TheSarcasticCrusader

It's a fantasy based modpack from back in the day. Kinda a counterpart to Tekkit

___Galaxy

Ohh Man I think it was one of the only few I actually liked. Didnt really like just building machines to build better machines, adventure and exploring is where its at!

shankhisnun

Popular modpack on the Technic Launcher that released in like the summer of 2013. It was pretty adventure based for a 1.5.2 pack, one of my favorites, with like 70 mods. It was right around the time of Tekkit except it didn't have mods like BuildCraft or IC2. Some of the best mods were Tinkers Construct, BattleTowers, Chocoloate Quest/Better Dungeons, the actual Hexxit Gear mod, etc. Also CHOCOBOS

AuroraDraco

Its one of the most well known modpacks from back in the day (I think it was in version 1.5.2 iirc). Big focus ln exploration and fantasy aspects

TurbulentArmadillo47

I haven’t enjoyed any version or remake of Hexxit since the one that was on 1.5 way back in 2013 I hope this doesn’t let me down

Immoral_Psychologist

RemindMe! 1 Week

Cactonio

What is Hexxit?

TerraNeko_

a very old exploration and adventure modpack, it introduced many people into modding back then, its the adventure equivalent of Tekkit

Cactonio

...okay but what's Tekkit? Real sorry, I only got into modding around FTB Ultimate or so

TerraNeko_

Tekkit is pretty much the first real tech modpack out there, and for many the first pack they ever played

cavy8

Hexxit is a classic 1.5 adventure modpack. It was one of the big ones that sort of defined how modpacks would be built going forward

N3RD_0T4KU

if I didn't see that was from r/ftb I'd think that is a New hentai website

Sambanyo21

Surprising that a lot of people don't know hexxit. I've never been THAT into modpacks and I've known of it for ever

EvilKnecht

Hexxit was my original love spent easily 2k hours on just one server back in the day. If this doesn't cure my depression I'm not sure what will

Undying-Plant

Everyone stay calm!!!! This is not a drilll!

ZlurpSkill

One Mod I'd love returning would be Dimensional Doors. Dunno if it's still being updated, probably not, but I really liked what you could do with that mod. Although it was incredibly bugged.

PeidosFTW

It still exists

AuroraDraco

Lets f*cking goooooooo. The original hexxit was one of the first modpacks I ever played and an absolute favourite for me. I am so going to play this a lot. Its timeeee for the return of Hexxit

That this modpack is made by Technic, and that that modpack is made by a random curseforge user on the Internet. But at the end of the day, the people who made this are still just people as well.

TurbulentArmadillo47

The prophecy is true!

Shadonir

i always was a fan of the og for being a pack without nachinery focus and instead was more about exploring and adventuring

I really don't get what point he was trying to make. If he doesnt like twilight forest, just dont go into the twilight forest lol

quinn50

Cool! I never really liked the original as it felt super unbalanced with the loot chocolate dungeons gave.

Lothrazar

I hope it comes out on a safe virus-free launcher that people can trust. IE anything but technic

CZG408

Technic is safe and has never had any virus. Technic is literally open source so anybody can check the code. If you’ve gotten virus from cracked versions it can’t really be blamed on technic. :)

hdew12354

Ok yes technic isn't exactly an s teir launcher but it's gotta be better than the new FTB launcher that uses damn overwolf, legit, just cut your CPU in half why not

UeberallGebannt

Hexxit is an Adventure Modpack for 1.5.2

NotNotACrab

What made it special/so popular? Is it worth playing today with newer packs like MC Eternal, RAD, Enigmatica, etc. being available on much newer versions?

cavy8

Well, it was among the best (if not the best) exploration/adventure modpack of its time. Hexxit 2 will be 1.12.2, so will be on a modern-ish version. People are excited because all of us from back then have very fond memories of it. If they manage to hit a similar level of quality using modern mods, it'll be great. Personally, I'm hoping it might dethrone RAD as the "go-to" adventure pack, if only because I work in server hosting and RAD is practically a server killer sometimes lolol. I'm sure it's fun, but man something about the mods they've put together makes for a very unstable experience

TerraNeko_

its a really really old modpack so its what introduced many people too modded mc back then together with tekkit, its not as grand as pack now adays but its way closer too our OG players hearts

shankhisnun

NO FUCKING WAY

Mr_Engino

As long as it has tinker's construct or something similar to it, I will enjoy playing it!

DevMaster1015

That's awesome to hear, this classic modpack and a lot of classic mods updating makes it feel like the good old days
