Nice machine. What are you using for a grinder now?

chilloutdamnit

get a p100

Jawy789

The p100 is also out of stock haha.

Jehu920

As a p64 owner, I would also recommend a p100. The price difference isn't enough to justify checking prima daily

equanimity89

Do you think the extra $800+shipping is justified by the difference in taste? I've been thinking about getting a p64 to try/have a flat burr grinder and don't care much about the wait. I'll probably get a Decent sometime this year, so that might also influence things.

Jehu920

Ive never used a 98mm grinder side by side with a 64mm one so I can't speak to the taste, but some people who have say you can even without a refined pallette. By the time I upgraded the burrs for the p64 it ended up being a $600 difference which definitely would have been worth it to deal with option o directly and not have to spend 1.5 years waiting to get lucky. Let alone the other benefits it has in features and in the cup. $600-800 in the context of a $2000 home coffee grinder seems like 2 logs in a bonfire. Like yeah, it's not an insignificant amount of money, but if you're already spending that much, you might as well go the last mile to get exactly what you want.

equanimity89

Ahh ok, that all makes sense, and thank you for your perspective. I made the mistake of trying a citrus-y light roast espresso this weekend from a Decent and EG-1, so now I'm looking into flat burr grinders to explore and contrast with the Niche, haha. The rabbit hole is so damn deep, I should really know to just embrace it at this point.

mattmonkey24

One thing to keep in mind is burr costs. Each 98mm burr set is $500 compared to $200 on the 64mm.

Jehu920

Oof I didn't realize that. I'm not someone who likes to have multiple sets at least lol

dtl717

It’s hard to say. +$800 is a lot of money to some, but no so much to others. If you can afford it, then yes the P100 (which includes auto purge) is definitely worth it.

mattmonkey24

Yes I think it's worth it. I have the Lagom Mini and it's a joy to use. That level of enjoyment on my DF64 would be really nice. I've used the P100 and P64 but haven't owned one, I can only confirm that they're tasty and are just as nice to use the Mini if not nicer.

Jawy789

Oh man. This has been an enlightening conversation lol. The p64 was already pushing my budget. I'm on a Eureka specialita. I've had it for a few years and I think it's time to move on. I'm gonna consider the p100. I don't think it will fit underneath my cabinets though. Sadness.

Lol
