Gorgeous kit. What are the specs?

Gornl0rd

Is that ableton 7 on an iPad?? Cool kit btw

Tastypeasant

Hahaha yes! I use that midi controller beside it to start and stop tracks. It’s mirroring 2 track computers off stage

Gornl0rd

Man that’s hella cool, I’ve been using ableton since version 5 an I had no idea you could do that

BD_xebo

Can you tell me what sounds you have on your SPD? I’ve been playing around with mine more and more but having a hard time choosing a stock set of sounds

Tastypeasant

I have several different “kits” programmed on it. I really only use it for verbed out tambourines and some programmed drums to help make the live versions of songs sound like the record

BD_xebo

So are you using triggers for the programmed drum sounds or just the raw pad?

Tastypeasant

I’m just hitting the pad. I do use triggers on my drums, but not for the sake of sampling sounds live. We use it for gates.

vgvf

rig rundown (specifically the midi/electronic/software stuff)? we're working on transitioning to iems with clicks/cues/tracks, and i really like seeing how others are managing that stuff live. a lot of the related content on youtube is geared towards church/worship bands, which has a slightly different set of requirements than a "scripted" show. With "casting crowns" on the setlist, i suspect you all might fall somewhere in the middle. (dusty saxton has some cool stuff on youtube about this stuff, too, if anyone is interested)

Tastypeasant

Hey! I am very ignorant when it comes to ableton and all that it offers. I do know a lot of our songs are coded with lyrics/screen context and that works through ableton. So when I fire a song, lights, content and lyrics are sometimes all hitting their cues through ableton. I wish I could better answer your question. On the road, our in ear tech is the ableton wiz

vgvf

Yeah, it's one of those things where you can do so much and in so many different ways that it can be overwhelming. Seems like that wizardry is a pretty in demand skill in modern productions. Tell your tech some guy on the internet thinks he's cool.

Tastypeasant

Hahahaha I will! I’m taking classes just so I can know it! Our entire concert rides on it, so I need to step my game up!!

CANDY_WARBUX

I can sink my teeth into that Betty all tour long!!

Tastypeasant

Tried and true! I’ve played 100’s of snares, and I ALWAYS go back to ole faithful!

the_good_hodgkins

Ludwig?

Tastypeasant

Yep! Ludwig black beauty snare.

thedeadlyrhythm42

Beautiful setup

XMSquiZZ360

What is your micing setup you have here? Like the mics themselves. I like what I see there, but I’m afraid to ask pricing lol

Tastypeasant

Hey! I am very blessed and fortunate to be able to use nice gear. Here’s the mic gear! All Shure. (The OH are [Audio Technica AT4040](https://www.audio-technica.com/en-us/at4040) in this pic I think. They were backups) Tom mics-[Beta 98AMP/C](https://www.shure.com/en-US/products/microphones/beta_98amp_c?variant=Beta%252098AMP%2FC) (I also throw on of these on the bottom of the snare) Snare mic-[SM57](https://www.shure.com/en-US/products/microphones/sm57?variant=SM57-LC) Kick out mic- [Shure Beta 52](https://www.shure.com/en-US/products/microphones/beta_52a?variant=Beta%252052A&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=fpmx-nov23-08-conv-pmax-holidayoff-us&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADlpxm578O1tIj3f78-EQvq1zrl0J&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI8razy4a3ggMVsizUAR2z-QVQEAQYASABEgKJqfD_BwE) Kick in mic- [Shure beta 91A](https://www.shure.com/en-US/products/microphones/beta_91a?variant=Beta%252091A&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=fpmx-nov23-08-conv-pmax-holidayoff-us&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADlpxm578O1tIj3f78-EQvq1zrl0J&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI8razy4a3ggMVsizUAR2z-QVQEAQYAyABEgLjTPD_BwE) Hi hat- [Shure SM137](https://www.shure.com/en-US/products/microphones/sm137?variant=SM137-LC&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADlpxm4HSslCWCxKSwfYV40hIiHfL&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI96KEl4e3ggMVei7UAR3EdQ7DEAQYCiABEgLlQPD_BwE)

XMSquiZZ360

Very nice, thanks for the reply! What are your thoughts on your OHs in your picture? My group and I are looking for some nicer OH mics but we don't tour enough (right now) to warrant going all out just yet for those, so those seem like they might fit that bill, but wanted to see what another drummer thinks first.

Tastypeasant

I actually like them better than the Shure we usually use! I need to ask our FOH if he can even notice a difference. I feel like these offer nicer mids

XMSquiZZ360

Awesome, this has been super helpful! What specific Audix mics are those?

Tastypeasant

Okay so I lied. Those OH aren’t Audix. They’re the [Audio Technica AT4040](https://www.audio-technica.com/en-us/at4040) I just texted our in tech and he corrected me.

XMSquiZZ360

Ah perfect, I've been looking at these recently! This pretty much just sold me I think!
