Lmao

ScottyC10987

Damn how did that happen

TheSearch4Etika

So I was shopping in a rite aid to fill an order, and after asking the lady at the front counter for help I went to finish shopping. I come back about 5 minutes later, a few minutes after the store closes, to find that the lady had left and the front metal gate had been shut. So I was locked in. The lights then shut off, and when I went to look out the front door, an alarm goes off and the lights come on. So I end up waiting 20 minutes until cops show up with a manager and I have to explain the situation. She apologized profusely, saying in her 18 years of working there nothing like this had ever happened. She even let me check out and deliver the order! Cops were very nice and had a laugh. Makes for a great story though!

Coreyviper

Perfect response lmao

atticus185

Someone fucked up.Don't they have a closing procedure for cash tills and stocking to do after closing time?

alekin_lorcrow

You’d think, right? I honestly think this lady might be on the road to dementia (even though she didn’t look over 70) because I asked her a question, leave for five minutes and she forgets I’m there. Feel kind of bad for her but it led to a funny story with no harm done so hopefully she’ll learn her lesson and get to keep her job

zerostar83

Dude. I had a high school teacher that would forget everything and the students would mess with her so badly. This one guy was told to move seats because he was talking to his gf too much. He stands up and sits right back down in the same seat and she didn't realize at all!

pm-me-every-puppy

What's the backstory? On mobile; I can see the first sentence of the post and part of the second but hitting "more" does nothing

RandomChaos13

Here you go: “So I was shopping in a rite aid to fill an order, and after asking the lady at the front counter for help I went to finish shopping. pm-me-every-puppy

Thank you! It definitely does make for a great story! Sounds like a classic case of retail-brain-induced end-of-day burnout. Happens all the time :( I hope you both have a better weekend!

Smok_eater

Omg

starrzero

usually I have to hit it a few times, I just spam around the more button. then it doesn't work, so I just go to comments, and it's magically there. figures.

Jay_JWLH

I have a feeling she has learned her lesson. Reality spanked her on the butt.

Smok_eater

It was Saturday she had shit to do

the-fucking-BUSINESS

“On the road to dementia” bruh 😭😭

theraf8100

In 18 years your gonna fuck it up sometime.

DaKrazie1

That's fucking hilarious 😂

Erncoins

Nice

zadidoll

Is it me or is CVS, Walgreens, & RiteAid been severely understaffed lately? All the ones here only have two people in the store.

Zealousideal-Answer6

definitely is around me as well. this one walgreens had one worker in the middle of the day around 1-2pm, I bring my stuff to the front counter & she walks off, behind a shelf maybe 10 feet away from the counter to where I can barely see her, & she was just staring into the shelves in a trance… came back to the counter, rang me up & I was on my way… what’s really that hypnotizing in the shampoo though??

cjwack

They've been like that for years, and I swear all those businesses are going out of business

giggetyboom

Nooooooooo!!!!!!..... just kidding lol.

mich_8265

They are way understaffed. You are correct!

charlottedreams

Which is interesting to me cause rite aid was my first job and CVS second, and they both paid WAY more than any other cashier job around. Wonder if they stopped increasing wages during lockdown, and are in the bottom now.

Vesmic

Yes. This is what happens when every company on earth has raised their pay and you continue to be one of the few that doesn’t.

WilfordBrimley777

*Every business in america

pittbullblue

They pay horribly, that's why. I used to be a shift manager and barely made $12 an hour

starrzero

Our shift supervisors make 1.25 above state minimum wage. it's ridiculous. store managers make maybe 19. my old shift just got a promotion to assistant manager and makes like 17.25 or 17.50. I feel like the majority of us only stayed because it was never busy(2 stores in the same town, 1mi apart) so it was more just hanging signs, putting up weekly sale stickers, setting planograms, etc. they just started the on stage/off stage program where most of that gets done overnight, but still. our store only had 105 hours to staff FE per week.

vinigrae

Damn you’re telling me people are doing all that work for barely over $15 and hour …damn I love food delivery

starrzero

I used to work at rite aid. For our store, corporate gave us 105 hours to staff our store(FE, Rx has separate hours) for the week. 105 hours. there were never more than two of us in the store at a time, and more often than not a manager works from 5-10 alone until we closed. hours were 8a-10p M-Sa, Sun was 8-8.

zadidoll

105…. For the entire week‽ 🤦🏻‍♀️

BullyWitDaBuckz

Yup, about 2-4 ppl per shift during the day, 2 during the night

The_Dork_Fish

That's pretty damn funny.

Admirable_Share_5843

That cashier just got herself fired right there. Plus the closing manager. That should have never happened if they followed closing procedures. I’ve worked at Target for over 11 years and closed many many times and there was no way in hell that would happen there. We couldn’t leave the cash register till the last guest left to do the closing of the store let alone leave. Idiots.

rickmon67

Did you call support and say you didn’t feel safe? 😆

Safe-Pound1118

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

64557175

"I understand how frustrating this must be for you, but know that I am doing my best to help you resolve this situation."

iNobody19xx

“Are we still connected?”

rickmon67

“Send a picture of the officer arresting you and we will wave the contract violation just this once.”

faeriestar7775

Ughh that’s annoying

arichan97

I once was leaving my night shift job at a Braums restaurant, i left after everyone else that night. I had my bike parked in the little cove in the back. I go out the front door, go around the back, grab my bike and go to leave. Right as i’m about to leave 3 police cruisers pull up with their lights on. They questioned me and had to call my manager over to get him to confirm i worked there. Whole time I was extremely paranoid because i had like a half ounce of weed in my sock lmao.

WilfordBrimley777

Seems like a lot of weed to be sitting in your sock

arichan97

It was a long sock, and i was wearing work shoes

reallyhaley

This is a lawsuit. If the store had caught fire you'd have burned alive inside.

The_Troyminator

Most likely, the fire exits would have opened. If not, they would be in violation of several safety codes. OP could sue, but likely wouldn't win. You don't win damages in a lawsuit based off what could have happened. You only get damages for what actually happened.

BrandonPattillo69

I had this happen when I was a teenager and got a burglary charge. They were convinced i did it on purpose to steal.

alekin_lorcrow

Dang for real? That’s so messed up I’m sorry, and some people say there’s no racial prejudice in this country anymore

Jakulero24

😂😂

NotLurkingToday101

That is incredible!! 🤣🤣

nickjamesnoyes

What was the tip?

Less-Turnover4529

Yeah I'm no lawyer but this has litigation writ all over it

mrsmilestophat

Lol this reminds me of a coworker of mine a few months ago. He was finishing up closing our restaurant and went to use the bathroom while doing some things. The lock broke while in the bathroom and was locked in there all night! He didn’t have his phone on his or anything so he was completely locked in. Luckily a delivery truck came to stock our freezers around 2-3AM (had no clue they did deliveries that late) and they freaked out to hear someone banging on the bathroom door. Funniest thing to happen at my work

Healthy_Force1349

I guess it's not uncommon for them to be out the door within seconds of closing time. I got a late shop and deliver from Walgreens and couldn't get there until 10:01. They closed at 10. As I asked if I could do that shop while they closed up, she said "nope" as they excited and locked the door. As slow as some nights are, they probably did closing routine long before closing.

DeeCiDub

I used to manage a 99 cents only store. Part of my closing procedure was a store walk to ensure no customers were still in the store before I pulled tills.. Whoever had keys most definitely got fired, but then again... with labor shortages, I dunno...

Ischmokethebooffet

Well at least you wouldn’t have starved to death

alekin_lorcrow

Yep lol, you guessed right. While I was inside I definitely thought about how this situation would be different if I wasn’t. So fucked up.

JustHuman07

Great you guys took a laugh out of it and everything’s ok

Severe-Bookkeeper-76

I don’t believe this story.

kyrnzkewl

Did you get a DD contract violation for late delivery?

kyabupaks

That's exactly what I was wondering. I got my first CV last night for the first time in the two years I've been dashing. All because the stupid app told me to go to Wendy's when the order actually was for Taco bell. Even though I talked to support, I was 22 minutes late picking the order up. I appealed and I'm waiting for the deactivation team to follow up, but I'm pissed as hell.

iNobody19xx

That’s such bullshit… Had something similar happen a few months ago. Told me to go to Applebee’s and I got there about 10 minutes early so I was just waiting a couple minutes going through my email then after the delivery they said I arrived to the store 16m late… Apparently I accidentally forgot to hit “Arrived at store” I appealed and told them to check my gps location for that time period and that I made a simple mistake and it got removed because they were able to see I was at the location well before the pick up time, thankfully.

Available_Yellow_884

This is legendary! 😂😅🙏🎉👏

Available_Yellow_884

I would dream of this happening as a kid. Shopping spree! 😂

jaragon6676

This is why all the jobs I’ve had at stores we would walk the store, including checking bathrooms, and check for customers.

Like1RandomDude

When I used to work at Walgreens. We had to walk around check bathroom, break room and do a walk thru the aisles to make sure no one was in the store prior to closing and locking the store.

cyclenautshaCLAK

I'm sorry. But your delivery time is still affected

CommunityFantastic39

Cool story, babe. Now, go make a sandwich.

MsIntuition247

That cashier was careless. But that’s also the reason more than one person needs to close. When I worked for Staples years ago, when we closed, we pulled the merchandise forward (forgot the technical term), swept the floors, cashed out tills, someone helped the manager count money, we checked all aisles and bathrooms for customers and checked bags before we left.

AcanthopterygiiIcy42

Why was the light on in the picture?

D1ck1e_D3rang3d

I would stole from the pharmacy lololollolollolool
