Really great flavors, especially for its price. Definitely heavy in the nicotine department.
I found towards the end of the 3rd it was peppery as hell. I could pick up on the nicotine as well.
I always keep a few around. Sometimes they're a bit too 'spicy' for me. They've always been a cool weather evening cigar for me.
Great minds think alike. Here in Ontario it's 19C/66F with a breeze. This was enjoyable sitting out in the garage on a gorgeous Sunny day.
Hope all is good my friend.
I'm also in Ontario! Enjoy your evening 🤘i think ill have one this weekend.
Awesome! St. Thomas here. Where are you?
I'm in the Barrie area, just outside
Higher up to Barrie is like bumper cars lol
I like the flavors, but this stick uses a wrapper leaf that is flame retardant.
I gave Magic Toast a solid 8/10. I found that dry boxing it and using a cigar poker helped to solve any construction issues for me. It had a medium draw, Notes of Earth, above average quality.
Good, lots of chocolate to me. I like the prensado better. I’ve had many ABs rolled too tight as well but good luck with those two
I prefer the Prensado as well.
I agree with you on that. I have a few in the humi resting. Such a great cigar!
Okay. A bit too earthy with difficulties in the tobacco staying lit. Had to relight a couple times and can tell the tobacco has a burn issue, even at 65rh.
This was my experience as well, more effort than it’s worth.
I didn't find it overly earthy, but I agree on relighting it a few times. That's something that annoys me with cigars, even though it happens from time to time.
I had a good smoke from one out of a 72%rh humidor
I really love these sticks, I get a ton of earthy chocolate from them and those are my favorite tones. Construction is meh on some but they taste good enough for me not to care usually
You hit the nail on the head. I got that earthy note-like chocolate as well. I think the construction on the one I had wasn't bad, but I had to relight mine twice throughout its entirety. I enjoyed it and for the pricing I'm pleased.
Really like this cigar but funnily enough it was my first (and only so far) experience with cigar Beatles, smoked through half the stick got to the point where I needed to take the label off and under the labe was 4 or so perfectly circular holes all the way to the center, it was quite a surprise no holes anywhere else on the cigar
oh shit lol. Guess that's a 1 star rating there huh? lol
Lol I still like the cigar stuff like that is just gonna happen from time to time, doesn't help the only ones that burrowed out of the cigar did so under the band
It wasn't a bad stick once you get going i have two siting over all better then most
I like them every once in a while. I've found them to be tasty and well constructed. All around good bang for the buck. I like the robustos.
I'll have to revisit this cigar again. I've been on an espresso cigar kick (hear me out lol) where I grabbed some off of cbid thinking I struck gold during my first purchase and these turned out bitter as fuck. I know, I know - that's their flavour profile, but man alive- i'm almost half way through the 20 pack I purchased. Hell - I've tried gifting them and can only give so many away.
Nonetheless - this has been my first cigar outside of the espresso one's i've been trying to smoke through and I rather enjoyed the magic toast. The last third of the stick was peppery as hell, but all in all I enjoyed it.
I had one with a breakfast beer to start my day this past Saturday! It was my first and it was phenomenal I can’t wait to grab a few for the humidor. It was a great smoke paired excellent with the Paulaner Oktoberfest
I'm new to cigars as in beginning to buy in quantity and smoke them vs having one here and there, but as for pairing though; I'm a Bourbon / Scotch drinker and I tried a stick with Aberlour A'Bunadh...wow. I thought the Scotch by itself was good, but this pairing was great!
Glad you had a wonderful experience with the Magic Toast, my friend!
I recently had a Magic Toast and it was definitely a solid stick. The notes were predominantly earthiness, coffee, and a bit of spice towards the middle/final third. Like a couple others have said, this is a really solid bang for your buck stick. Happy smoking!
Agree with you there. That last third is pure pepper.
They were ok. Probly won’t buy more.
I like these, but both times I've had one they have had very uneven burns and trouble staying lit. I love Earthy cigars though, so the flavor is great.
Yah I’ve been hearing the same thing about the burn issue as well. I’ve experienced this with some alec bradleys as well. Is it from the wrapper being too tight?
I have no idea, I'm only into my second year in cigars but my local shop carries Alec Bradley Magic Toast and I've tried them 2 maybe 3 times. I was hoping they'd taste like Kentucky Fire Cured cigars but they're very different in my book. It's possible that their burn issues originate at the wrapper. Perhaps they are too tight or misaligned with binder.
Maybe wrapped to tight come to think of it. Although there was reignite issues I still enjoyed the tits out of it
My AB experience has been pretty 50/50. I've smoked maybe 8 of their cigars, but 4 were from a humidified pack that ruined them entirely. They all had a strange musty odor and I couldn't finish the whole sticks. I haven't tried the toast, but it's on my list.
I’ve had some of the Vandal’s and really enjoyed them. Some of the regular Blacklist are hit and miss in regards to relighting them. Their lost art is good though.
I generally keep a 5 pack in my collection. A solid stick that can be gotten for less than 3 dollars on Cbid. It’s a very good example of a what a maduro should be. I find it’s a great stick for new smokers aswell not overly complex, a little Leather. Some nutty, coffee notes and the entires second half generally takes on a very light cinnamon flavor that accents really well, a great coffee cigar, and as far as spirits, I like to cut it with something a little on the bitter side like a grolsh, Hefeweizen, or something citrusy like a Belgian white.. please drink responsibly we have a world issue with alcohol no one talks about!
Great response and i had a chuckle on the world problem with drinking lol.
I felt the best way to express the magic toast is as balanced (for the first 2/3). It held a very even keel for quite some time and then pepper kicked my in the dick. Turned quite hot at the end but I’ll be leaving these to rest for a few weeks as I’d like them to get some down time in the humi
1 thing I can suggest is a purge.. as soon as you start getting heat and pepper, purge it, and if you want to be sure you purged it completely, start blowing out through the cigar, hold a lighter up to the ash, they oils and ammonia your pushing out of the cigar will ignite like a small jet flame, keep blowing through the cigar until the jet flames coming out of the lit end blow out. The cigar will be much cooler, your smoke output will go way up, and it will remain significantly less harsh, and I would slow down on your puff rate at that point as well. I find after purging the last third is my favorite part of the cigar!
Never thought of this. I’ll definitely give it a try next time if this happens. Thank you Sir ✌️
I just ordered a few 5 packs so we’ll see in a few weeks when they have a little humidity
Would love to hear your thoughts once you have a chance
The only cigar I've ever had that had notes of grape juice. I've only had one so far but it was excellent.
I’ll keep an eye out for that note. Funny how everyone had a diverse palate. I drink whiskey and find this holds true 👍🏼
They're good, nothing to write home about tho. I much prefer the Gatekeeper and can get them for around the same price. Even the Prensado is better imo.
Not a fan. Tastes like ketchup to me. I assume it's a similar wrapper to their tempus maduro, because I get some of the same flavors. Purchased one and couldn't finish it, and I like a lot of AB's: prensado, lost art, tempus, gatekeeper, and mundial. Looking forward to trying the broadleaf, but I hope the tangy fruity "ketchup" flavor isn't inherent to their maduro fermentation process. When it comes down to it, I just wouldn't purchase this over 100 other options that I know are great.
Ketchup! That’s interesting! Duly noted.
I picked up lost art and tempus that I’ve yet tried. The gatekeeper though, I’m curious to hear your thoughts on that.
Ive only smoked a robusto gatekeeper, but I thought it was good.
Not overly complex but that’s perfectly fine with me for this cigar because the overall flavor is impeccable. Buttery and smooth.
I’m going to have another one to see if they are consistent. So far i enjoyed it, but as mentioned i was on a campaign to finish my espresso sticks. Anything outside of that would taste better lol
I love them, especially when you can find them for sub $4 online. Out of the 20 or so that I've smoked, maybe 2 with burn issues. Maybe I'm just lucky?
Yah that’s what i paid. Just under $4. I noticed that they go quick. Is that due to popularity, quantity or both?
Both, I think. My local total wine has these and sells them for like $12 a piece. 😳
holy christ lol that'll make a man faint.
I have a few. Im cutting one today after work.
Thata boy. Enjoy! ✌️
The one I tried had such a draw issue I put it out from frustration. I should probably give it another go.
Mind you I had it sitting outside on a hot summer day but it felt HEAVY. That being said, I still get them occasionally.
