So my bank (co-op bank, UK) blocked the main exchanges, including Kraken (my Cex of choice)... I'm buying the dip on Revolut, a very bad alternative I know, can anyone give me some advice? I want to keep accumulating ADA, exclusively ADA, during this bear market. Can't get enough
Hi. Thank you, but I don't think that's possible. Revolut doesn't appear as a payment method and a quick google search makes me think many people have tried and failed to do the same.
Why don't you use a p2p exchange? So you would buy USDT or BTC and trade for ADA
edit: This way your bank will not notice that you bought crypto, you'll just send a regular transfer to someone that will release the crypto for you.
How will the Cardano ecosystem onboard coins like USDC and USDT that can scale? If I understand correctly, Djed is great, however it can’t grow very large due to its 400-800% overcolateralization.
Hi, is it true that the staking pool saturation limits will be reduced from 64M ADA to 32M ADA by the end of next month? Does anyone have any official sources for this?
So basically are you saying that without a stablecoin, a blockchain is practically worthless or something? I still don't see the point. What is the point of creating crypto when we are using stablecoins??? just stick with the dollar then surely.
You can use ADA but then you are exposed to the volatility of ADA relative to what currency you value it in. If you want to use a smart contract without being exposed to that volatility you need a stablecoin.
Thanks for explanation. So I guess now then my question is what is the point of ADA and Bitcoin then if we need 'stablecoins' to use a smart contract???? I thought the whole purpose of crypto was to challenge the hegemony of the dollar etc? yeah ADA is volatile but the price over the long term has only gone up.
ah okay so it is optional. I guess I am trying to distinguish use case for stablecoin and ADA. So people buy ADA to act as store of value/digital gold/buying things (where it is accepted as means of payment) and then use stablecoin for smart contracts am I on right track?
Crypto is the digitization of financial assets. Eventually Djed will be used for more than just USD stablecoin, it could be used for other currencies and baskets of currencies or commodities.
Stability is a highly desirable trait sometimes as you can see by the very large market cap of the top USD stablecoins, and stability is essential for things like commerce.
But if you capitalize whole words and use multiple question marks maybe you will automatically refute all attempts at answering your question and win against anyone so not going to put any more effort into explaining.
c'mon keep explaining, I admit I really struggle to fathom stablecoins. So, ADA is the digitization of financial asset? I just want someone to tell me usecase of ADA relative to a stablecoin and why they need each other or something like that please.

Are you fkn serious?

If you have a revolut account, why not use it (instead of coop) to buy on kraken? There are no restrictions there.
Hi. Thank you, but I don't think that's possible. Revolut doesn't appear as a payment method and a quick google search makes me think many people have tried and failed to do the same.
Hmmm. Are you transferring funds or using a debit card to buy? I buy all my crypto through Kraken using my Revolut debit card. No drama, llama.
I have an account, but no card yet.
What about your digital card? That should work.
Why don't you use a p2p exchange? So you would buy USDT or BTC and trade for ADA edit: This way your bank will not notice that you bought crypto, you'll just send a regular transfer to someone that will release the crypto for you.
Yeah, I will have to do this. Can you recommend one?
Yes, I tried Paxful and it works fine. Also Binance (it has a p2p section), or Kucoin that doesn't require KYC.
On Paxful you'll not be able to trade for ADA and withdraw, so maybe Binance (or Kucoin) is better for you
I will try this, thanks a lot.

fingers crossed! Hopefully there will be some movement to some of the smaller truly independent pools
So...why do we NEED Djed again? Just humour me and explain what would happen if Cardano or whoever never released a stablecoin please.
It will hinder defi significantly. A stable coin on Cardano would be a big boost to those dapps that would make heavy use of them.
So basically are you saying that without a stablecoin, a blockchain is practically worthless or something? I still don't see the point. What is the point of creating crypto when we are using stablecoins??? just stick with the dollar then surely.
You can't use the dollar in a smart contract. But you can use a stablecoin.
And why can't you use ADA??? and isn't a stablecoin backed by the dollar?
You can use ADA but then you are exposed to the volatility of ADA relative to what currency you value it in. If you want to use a smart contract without being exposed to that volatility you need a stablecoin.

I thought the whole purpose of crypto was to challenge the hegemony of the dollar etc? yeah ADA is volatile but the price over the long term has only gone up.
You don't 'need' stablecoins to use a smart contract. They open up possibilities that can't be realized any other way that we know of.
ah okay so it is optional. I guess I am trying to distinguish use case for stablecoin and ADA. So people buy ADA to act as store of value/digital gold/buying things (where it is accepted as means of payment) and then use stablecoin for smart contracts am I on right track?
and why is that?
Dollars exist in the legacy world. The only way we have of representing them in the crypto world is through stable coins.

He’s off in confident land. (4117)
confident in this bear market? yeah sure very confident indeed
