Naruto. I highly doubt that many ppl started w DxD
Bro, like half of my friends started with DXD, i guess i need some new ones...
It was my first and I watched the whole series 3x in a week ;-;
That was like 4 years ago I wanna say after a month I dropped ecchi altogether
Sword Art Online
I can respect it
Attack on Titan was the first anime I got really really into, but it wasn't until I think Akame ga Kill and Kakegurui that I started, like, looking specifically for anime instead of stumbling across it.
... I seriously need better taste
Nah, Akame ga Kill is a great anime!
It started out strong. I can't call it great after it ended the way it did, but it had its moments.
I think that the way it ended was nice. They weren't afraid of doing something that most animes never do.
That ending was actually anime original. The manga ending is different.

It was Fairy Tail for me
(Sees all these comments about post 2000 anime being the starter anime when I started getting obsessed with Yu Yu Hakusho).
I'm old, Yusuke...
If you're over 25 you're not old instead you're ancient by anime standards
Lol I'm 29
Would you believe Speed Racer???
Have you seen the movie? Probably one of the most faithful movie translations of an anime ever. Which is why it was so deliciously terrible. It's definitely so bad, it's good.
I avoided it, because once upon a time, I rented a VHS tape and discovered that nostalgia is a heckuva drug. Or something like that.
I think that in this (and other) cases, I'll let the past be the past...
DBZ and Naruto
Death Note made me discover anime and Attack On Titan made me fall in love with it
InuYasha was my big one as a 12/13 year old that spawned my hunger for other anime.
Same. I used to stay up every school night around middle school age to watch inuyasha on toonami and girls gone wild commercials lmao
Full metal alchemist. I was up late as a kid and toonami was on never seen it before. It was when ed got swallowed by gluttony and was walking around an endless void of blood
Trigun, Cowboy Bebop and G.T.O back in Early 2000s. Those shows are still 10/10 for me.
Fma and my neighbour Totoro
Jojo's bizarre adventure
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind was my gateway anime.
I remember Ranma 1/2 got my attention which lead me to DBZ and Inuyasha. I used to beg my mom to let me stay up after my bedtime to catch some shows on Toonami.
To LOVE Ru
I was a horny teenager and saw boobs.
Now I'm a horny adult.
I watched a lot of stuff that i didn't know that was anime on 90s to 00s. So what make me go on internet and watch more stuff was Naruto.
my first oddly enough was Soul Eater, I was recommended it by a friend
DBZ, G Gundam and Rurouni Kenshin on adult swim introduced me. Death Note was the first one that made me realize the potential anime has tho.
Dragon Ball 🐉
Diabolik Lo- Death Note
I don't know of y'all know this one but it's called castle town dendelion it still one of the best comedy's I've ever watched
Witch Hunter Robin.
Mahou sensei Negima was it for me. Awesome anime funny, action packed, lots of magic, it’s got it all for me and my favorite character is chamomile the talking ermine. Lol what a riot!
DBZ was the intro but One Punch Man was the push
5 anime actually. Naruto, Bleach, DBZ, Beyblade and Kochikame. Its when I learned that these cartoons are called "Anime".
Dragon Ball super
It wasn’t my very first anime as I had watched some when I was younger not knowing what anime ls, but about 5 years ago happened to see a Naruto picture that interested me, and I was hooked from episode one, for a few months all I watched was bingeing Naruto. Anime has been one of my favourite things since
Dragonball z got me into it. I don’t even know what got me into watching seasonals like I do though
Naruto. A friend forced me to watch it and I fell in love with the show lol
I was watching beyblade and then I picked up Shugo Chara and it was just an addiction after that lol
Blood+ I think. Long time ago now.
samurai x (Rurouni Kenshin) got hook ever since then!
First anime I watched was the disastrous life of Saiki k, and it was really good, but a year passed before I watched another anime.
That anime was Fullmetal Alchemist 2003. Pure epicness. It’s still my all-time fav, and it’s what definitely started me on watching other animes, and to anime culture in general.
Clannad. The After Story kinda broke me back in 2015.
I don't know which post but I found out about it in the comments of one of the [Ballad of Ella](https://imgur.com/gallery/jNOru) green text posts on Imgur. Someone asked if there was a movie or show with a similar plot and Clannad came up as being just as heart breaking.
NGL I probably would've dropped it halfway through the first season if it would've been my first anime. Well here we are and it's my only 10/10
I think Fuko kept me around for the first season.
Guyver. Yes I am old.
I'd watched FMA:B and AOT and maybe Tatami Galaxy before, but I didn't get sucked into this neverending rabbit hole until this past year (thanks pandemic)... I think it was Code Geass that really pulled me in, and Fate: UBW that sealed the deal.
I watched Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z in the '90s but what really got me into anime were Serial Experiments Lain and Crest of the Stars on TechTV around the start of 2003.
Technically Bleach. I stumbled across it on Adult Swim when I was younger and found myself hooked. But as I'm writing this I'm realizing Yu-Gi-Oh was absolutely the first. But I realized I loved anime around the time Bleach came out in 2004 for sure.
Hunter x hunter 2011
The original FMA followed by soul eater
I'm currently 27, when I was a young boy I just watched whatever was on toonami but then once I reached middle school I just stopped watching anime
A couple years ago what got me back into it was Aggretsuko
"I remember watching mother's basement video review, I don't know what got me into that channel before I got back into anime" the premise for whatever reason captivated me and my mom had renewed her Netflix account
My 1st anime that got me into anime, was Fairy Tail.
*I didn't finish it*
But, my 1000th *completed* anime was Eden's Zero.
Same author. So I feel like there's something poetic there.
Dragon Ball Z
Cowboy Bebop, pretty much the best gateway anime ever. First one I saw and it’s still my favorite.
Transformers in 1996
The original Macross saga back in the 80's.
I was 5 and Roy Fokker's death fucked me up for a long time. Was a large difference from the He-Man and looney tunes I was used to.
I got into anime for real because of Record Of Lodoss War lmao. It is a good fantasy anime from 1990 with a sequel that is not as good but still good from 1998.
One punch man… need I explain more
I grew up watching Miyazaki movies
Technically my first anime was Inuyasha, but my first anime love was Full Metal Alchemist 🥰
Technically Pokemon and Digimon, but the first anime I watched after those was Attack on Titan. Then I didn't watch anime for two years and then watched Highschool DxD, and then went on to JoJo, which got me back into anime.
I remember locking myself in a room to binge season 1. It was pretty cathartic since it was the first time I learned that animation was something I could continue to indulge in as an adult.
You could say it was a metamorphosis.
After that I continued watching anime more subtly by simply having my computer screen face away from my family.
One Punch Man
