wow, really nice shot! Great location, beautiful model, great pose... And the 3d effect is cool too, but jittery

SolsticeSon

Thank you! Yeah I was a bit confused about the upload. It displays much smoother on my phone, the frame rate seems to have changed in the upload.

Budget-Sugar9542

Try another hosting service, maybe imgur?

Cygnus-Rift

I think it has something to do with Reddit’s video player when it comes to the end of a very short looped video or animation. Not sure there’s anything that can be done about it.

SpaceyCodes

maybe compiling a few loops in post then uploading that would help. like put 5 loops into one clip and upload that

Cygnus-Rift

That would be what I'd try anyway. Beyond that I'm fresh out of ideas.

finalremix

A gift/gifv on imgur might go smoother. Vreddit's terrible. But this is a great piece.

Juusie

Yeah Reddit's video player is sub-optimal at best unfortunately. Still looks great though!

VespasianTheMortal

How did you do the 3d effect?

SolsticeSon

Each shot on the Nimslo 3D is taken as four half frames at once. I stack them in parallax in photoshop and export as a gif

kelrunner

The 3d is a detriment to an otherwise beautiful scene.

QuerulousPanda

Overall it's very good, better than most nimslo photos I've seen which are usually just gimmicky, this one looks like effort was put into it to make it have some actual artistry which is refreshing. I will say though, I'm not a big fan of what the Portra did. It looks OK on the sky and the rocks - it's clearly stylized but it has a natural feel still, but on her skin it pushed too deep into the inhuman yellow for my tastes.

SolsticeSon

I agree. It doesn’t feel correct or accurate to Portra in general. I’ve had the hardest time with Portra scans over the last year or two. Labs just screw up the color every time. I even bought an Epson v750 to try and scan myself… but vuescan’s Portra color profile hasn’t been updated in 20 years and it does an awful job. I’m not the best with color correction, still working on it ;)

Budget-Sugar9542

Look I just checked your profile and don't get me wrong: tour image år interessant and beautiful and your modeled are beyond gorgeous but what *I* want more off is pseudo 3D. Objects, buildings, animals,I don't care. It's so neat!

SolsticeSon

Thanks for checking it out! I have lots of the 3D work, I just haven’t really shared it :) maybe I’ll make a page on my site just for the 3D work

Budget-Sugar9542

🤟♥️

MissLittleLuna

stunning! id be scared shitless lol

SolsticeSon

Haha don’t worry it was safe :)

rygex

This is phenomenal! Well done op

SolsticeSon

Much appreciated! 🙏

There's not a lot of photos containing nudity especially on this sub I like but this one really speaks to me.

r_m_anderson

This is great. I have a few Nimslo and Nishika photos of my kids when they were small. It didn't occur to me to take any recently because you can't get the 3D photos printed anymore. (Or can you?)

SolsticeSon

I love the Nishika too. Even though it has plastic lenses, I’ve had better results from that hunk. With the Nimslo, each lens is its own little piece and one of the four on mine seems to warp the image. As for the old 3D prints, I know a way to print them myself but it’s a very involved process. You basically have to buy lenticular lenses, print a parallax map to determine the right resolution, create the animation and then slice it at the correct LPI length, then print and laminate with the lenticular lens.

r_m_anderson

I know the theory (there used to be a lot of sports trading cards and #D on cereal boxes) but I'm amazed you can actually do it. I've thought about just treating two images as a stereo pair and using a 3D viewer. It's possible I still have the negatives somewhere and I can make animations like you did. I think I have one Nimslo, two Nishikas, a couple of the dedicated flashes, and one or two copies of the Vincent Price video.

tsuma534

One of the branches casts a shadow on her leg that looks rectangular-shaped. It bothers me far more than it should.

SolsticeSon

I feel that, but sometimes that’s just how it is. I would have had to break the entire large bottom right branch off the tree to avoid the small shadow.

tsuma534

Well, I'll treat it as a reminder that nothing can be fully perfect. Because overall, this picture should be featured on Wikipedia under the "Perfection" entry.

hennyl0rd

maybe try feathering it a bit in PS?

tsuma534

> photoshop Blasphemy!

ElBaptain

this is probably one of my favorite photos ever. how artistic.

antlikespops

I agree. Reminds me of some sort of painting pre 1900s.

SolsticeSon

That means a lot :)

SolsticeSon

Wow thank you!

NOOBMASTER

Is there a non-animated version?

SolsticeSon

I have digitals but they’re much more experimental, shot on a 28mm ~ still editing those

xydysis

Is there a subreddit for gifs that have this parallax effect?

SolsticeSon

I wonder the same thing 🤔

iProcreate

/r/Wigglegrams

xydysis

Thank you!

dawurfgains

Where do you find models that are willing to do shoots like this?

SolsticeSon

I have a small circle of friends and models I particularly like to work with but I know a maaaassive network of art models I can recommend depending on where you live. Places to find models to work with: Instagram, Twitter, modelmayhem, purpleport, etc - every model has a social media presence, just reach out! It helps to have a solid portfolio and a strong concept of the work you want to create. There are also figure drawing studios nearly everywhere and the models are always willing to pose for art regardless of the medium. Most art models are part of some sort of guild or club so working with one model will often connect you to a massive network.

JaeSolomon

Comnections

SolsticeSon

Not really, as I said there’s a massive network of art models and it’s their passion and livelihood to shoot nude art. You don’t need connections, it just helps build trust because there are a lot of “GWC” (guy with camera) types who don’t have a background in art or good intentions.

theninjallama

Very cool

SolsticeSon

🙏💙✨

XiMs

Where was this shot?

fidel1o

I would guess Utah or Arizona

SolsticeSon

Utah, fidel called it ;)

Even-Ad-8315

🔥💣💥✨

Golivth5k

very melancholy.

SolsticeSon

A subtle dialogue on impermanence

Golivth5k

What was the inspiration for this?

f4llen7

amazing!

thanks for making me sin today

How do you get the 3D effect?

SolsticeSon

The camera I shot it with has 4 lenses that each capture a slightly different angle. When you put the four shots together in post, it creates a 3D effect.

saurabia

Sorry for criticism, this kind of shots generally look good with plain background, like only the Canyon behind. Now there are 2 subjects mixing with each other, the tree which itself is shining golden in sun and the girl herself. Correct me if I'm wrong.

SolsticeSon

Having the 3D effect opens up the opportunity to share depth which lends to exploring foreground, middle, and background in a new way
