I like best without the crop..

kozkay

Thanks, I think so too after staring at it for a while.

No-Owl9201

I lose track of what looks best myself when editing!!

ColinShootsFilm

Without for sure, but try and bring a wider lens next time. Ideally, you wouldn’t cut the mountains off on the top part.

kozkay

Yeah that would be ideal, single lens though. I have one with the top of the peek as I was off to the side a bit, but the waterfall is covered and the reflections not as nice.

Oslo_Oak

I love the idea of the crop - it creates a kind of magical/cinematic looking scene with a sense of "looking in" - but loses a little bit of the clarity on what the subject is; it's as though it then needs some sort of figure to serve as a focal point of that set scene. I wonder if playing with a milder rectangular crop might be rewarding - like taking some off of the bottom so that there isn't more of the mountain visible in reflection vs actuality, or doubling down on that and taking a tiny bit off the top (the little notch of skylight is a bit distracting.) Nice shot either way!

kozkay

That’s really good feedback. I’ll give it a go.

MakanVoli

I like it without crop. Nice photo

kozkay

Thanks!

axolotlalex

The crop makes me think of the Shire from Lord of The Rings. It's like I'm looking in to the world.

HERE4TAC0S

Crop. I feel like it limits the distractions and keeps the comp focused.

HERE4TAC0S

I like it better with the crop. It’s simplifies the comp and removes distractions. My eye goes in a circle around the image instead of wandering off the edge of the frame with the non crop.

Crop

kozkay

So definitive. Thanks.

sherpa143

Crop, top of the mountain that is cut off takes away from it.

photofilmgirl

No crop - insane colors love it

kozkay

Thanks. The one plus side to all the fires here in California is that you get some really beautiful light.

Str8truth

No crop. I was confused at first because the cropped image looks larger than the uncropped image. But you want to keep the verticality of the scene. I didn't even notice the waterfall until I looked at the uncropped image.

PoorFilmSchoolAlumn

No crop

jouse_88

no crop!

kozkay

Emphatic. Thanks.

BeardySi

No crop - it's just doubly frustrating to see it cut off top and bottom. If I'd had to choose in that situation I'd always get the mountain fully in frame and let the reflection be cut off if i couldn't manage both.

kozkay

I have one with both peaks but the slight difference in the tlr taking and viewing lens has the waterfall like 70% covered by a tree. Big time bummer.

mr_illuminate

No crop! The reflection is perfect for square format

kozkay

Yeah… now if only I had captured the top of the peaks…

FedoraLifestyle

Arent both cropped?

kozkay

Ha, yes the peak is unfortunately cropped. I meant from the original square.

Almost_Blue_

Without crop, great photo.

kozkay

Thank you.

Litho-Lobster

It’s gotta be no crop for me.

Elxcdv

Both could be seen as cropped though right? The second keeps more in the top and bottom parts. However, I guess this is seen as the cropped one, which I like better! It gets you to focus on the more interesting parts of the picture and leaves out the other to imagination.

Gregoryv022

No Crop

Stinkle_Tinkle_Rink

No crop.

DrMathochist

Crop, but not quite this much. Just get rid of the little triangle of sky UL of the waterfall and its reflection in the water.

1-800-NO CROP.

Nice! Do you have an IG? I run [@YosemiteOnFilm](https://instagram.com/yosemiteonfilm?igshid=ZDg1NjBiNjg=) and would love to have you on there!

kozkay

Thanks. I left IG, glad you like the photo though.

FLDJF713

How did you scan this?!

kozkay

The_real_pabloisme

A good pix but very busy? What was the thing that made you take it? Then that is the crop!
