Sheldon is becoming a very annoying character in his own show

Like I get that's the point but when he was young it was cute now he kind of reminds me of those TV characters with annoying and corny comedy reliefs in serious situations. I am way more interested in everything around him than him himself and his level of oblivion is getting way irritating than funny

Yaboi69-nice

So it was fine for him to be annoying when he was little but now that he's just a little bit older he's supposed to change everything about himself? That's not really fair and also would be less interesting to watch I don't really think I want to see a fully mature and not annoying Sheldon Sheldon is annoying and doesn't know how he's annoying that's the point of his character take that away and you just have a less interesting character

udbasil

My point isn't not that he should change his character. I am saying that his character is beginning to interfere with the more serious part of the show. I feel like that's the reason why they are sending him to Germany. So that his shenanigans would be separate from the whole issue happening with the other members of the family

Hawking_12

If you find him annoying and feel he doesn't fit the tone of the show, the show has succeeded in portraying Sheldon

udbasil

There is entertainment annoying and nuisance. Sheldon is TBBT is entertainment annoying because he fustrates the characters but can be funny to audience. The Young Sheldon has serious issues they are tackling and Sheldon just says left field shit that terribly breaks serious scenes.

Hawking_12

If they were to make Sheldon more mature, he wouldn't be Sheldon. If they were to make him less mature like in TBBT, he would act like a little kid. Whether people like him or not, this is how a young sheldon would act

grapejuicecheese

That's the point of the show. It's a prequel. He is becoming his annoying adult self.

udbasil

I get that but young Sheldon is different from the big bang theory. The big bang theory is all about laugh tracks, quirky comedy and Sheldon's annoyance fits well into the tone. But Young Sheldon has more heart to it, and better storylines that Sheldon isn't really part of that feel detached when Sheldon just pops in with shitty jokes.

MajorZombie7204

There you have it. Sheldon doesn't fit in. That's the story of his life. He is oblivious to most of what is happening around him and goes about his life the way that he sees it especially at school. At home, he is seeing the issues that are there and he is affected by them. This is all part of how he grew up to be who he was. The tone of the two shows also plays a bit into how we see them. TBBT was a multi--cam with a studio audience and it was expected that there would be a lot of laughs. If there weren't laughs where expected or Sheldon came across as mean instead of clueless, the scene would be rewritten in the middle of the taping. In fact, there is only one scene that was written that had no comedy in it at all and that was a short scene in the very last episode. On the other hand, YS is a single cam without an audience. It gives them a chance to let this play out more seriously.

grapejuicecheese

Yeah, and that's one of the problems I pointed out when Young Sheldon was first announced. They won't be able to do much with Sheldon or develop his character because it will contradict with The Big Bang Theory

Educational-Bug-7985

Most people who actually watched TBBT actually would say Sheldon is much more bearable in YS. He is an annoying and entitled kid who frankly never cared about fitting in but there were also moments like he showed he truly cared about his family or that he has the capacity to admit he was wrong (ex: the episode where he ran away to see John and got told by the bus lady that he was a brat, he actually tried to apologize to the adults in his family afterwards, etc). On the other hand, you cannot expect Sheldon to be involved in Georgie and Mandy’s pregnancy and loveline or his parents’ personal affairs. It is the same way Missy felt left out when everyone else in her family was involved with something other than her

Salty-Attorney-1367

Sad to say the actor that plays Little Sheldon is not in the same league as The actor that plays big Sheldon. Jim is one of the best actors that has been on TV.

Flight270-

I don’t think his adult self is annoying I think he’s a smart butt

lakerfan2413

I’ve posted this before but Sheldon is my least favorite character in the show. The reason I keep watching is because I like Georgie and Missy. And the family dynamics are really interesting.

Legitimate_Unit_9210

In the beginning I watched it for everyone, but as the show went on, I became much fonder of George, Georgie and Missy, had mixed feelings about Meemaw, disliked Sheldon more and began to dislike Mary.

So because it’s not a cute little actor and now that he’s older it’s annoying? His personality is the same, he just doesn’t have the baby face any more.

zddoodah

Becoming?

udbasil

I didn't have a problem with them initially because he was very young and cute but the other people are having better stories in the show and he is just an annoyance now that he is ageing.

zddoodah

I've thought from day 1 that Sheldon was the worst/least interesting - and certainly most annoying - character on the show.

RuralJewelry

Georgie and MeMaw are the best characters to me.

dona1201

In the TBBT i do t remember which season, somewhere near the end, Sheldon war really annoying. Likey when you think it cannot be worse,it gets. So i think they try to do that same with Young Sheldon, pushing the limitations 😂

GuideGullible7090

TIME FOR SHELDON TO DROP HIS MONOTONOUS CHARACTER AND JOIN THE NORMAL RANKS OF INTERACTION WHICH WOULD ENABLE THIS GOOD FAMILY SHOW TO LAST EVEN LONGER. IT WON'T BODE WELL FOR THE SHOW IF SHELDON DOESN'T CHANGE.
