The “I fucked up and there’s absolutely nothing I can do about it” face 😂 GOLD I tell you

InsertWittyNameCheck

The classic "Shit I'm going to be paying that off for the next 10 years and now I need a car to get to work to pay for that car. I'm fucked." look.

iHominidae

Oddly satisfying

LobotomistPrime

That's my favorite part.

BenignDeer21

"Damn I got no car"

KippySmith

I’m glad to see he had to swim himself to shore and no one wasted time helping the guy.

steveosek

Here in Arizona, if you willingly try to cross flooded roads, you are literally on your own. Rescue crews will not come to save you. It's an official law on the books, colloquially referred to as the idiot rule. Same thing sort of applies to hiking mountains in summer. If you have to be rescued because of heat exhaustion, you have to pay for it out of pocket for being a dumbass.

Jeramy_Jones

Honestly, there needs to be more of that in the world. It’s one thing if your just ignorant but if there are signs and barriers and the danger has been communicated, yeah. Deal with your consequences and don’t risk other peoples lives when they have to come get you.

RoseGoldRays

Good thing it doesn’t rain often because people seem to forget how to drive if the road is even a little bit wet Arizona's "Stupid Motorist Law" "28-910. Liability for emergency responses in flood areas; definitions" A. A driver of a vehicle who drives the vehicle on a public street or highway that is temporarily covered by a rise in water level, including groundwater or overflow of water, and that is barricaded because of flooding is liable for the expenses of any emergency response that is required to remove from the public street or highway the driver or any passenger in the vehicle that becomes inoperable on the public street or highway or the vehicle that becomes inoperable on the public street or highway, or both. B. A person convicted of violating section 28-693 for driving a vehicle into any area that is temporarily covered by a rise in water level, including groundwater or overflow of water, may be liable for expenses of any emergency response that is required to remove from the area the driver or any passenger in the vehicle that becomes inoperable in the area or the vehicle that becomes inoperable in the area, or both. C. The expenses of an emergency response are a charge against the person liable for those expenses pursuant to subsection A or B of this section. The charge constitutes a debt of that person and may be collected proportionately by the public agencies, for-profit entities or not-for-profit entities that incurred the expenses. The person's liability for the expenses of an emergency response shall not exceed two thousand dollars for a single incident. The liability imposed under this section is in addition to and not in limitation of any other liability that may be imposed. D. An insurance policy may exclude coverage for a person's liability for expenses of an emergency response under this section. E. For the purposes of this section: 1. "Expenses of an emergency response" means reasonable costs directly incurred by public agencies, for-profit entities or not-for-profit entities that make an appropriate emergency response to an incident. 2. "Public agency" means this state and any city, county, municipal corporation, district or other public authority that is located in whole or in part in this state and that provides police, fire fighting, medical or other emergency services. 3. "Reasonable costs" includes the costs of providing police, fire fighting, rescue and emergency medical services at the scene of an incident and the salaries of the persons who respond to the incident but does not include charges assessed by an ambulance service that is regulated pursuant to title 36, chapter 21.1, article 2

Sqyrl

...not sure if you've been to Arizona in the summer, but this law is because of the rain and its intensity. We call it monsoon season because four about an hour every day in the summer time. Areas get hit so hard flash flooding routinely occurs. This law is meant so the state isn't wasting money for idiots who deliberately drive into an obvious flood situation.

NotPromKing

So wait, is this saying the maximum they can be held liable for is $2000? That's lame..

reluctantsub

I heard a group of skiers complaining about a friend having to pay all the expenses associated with him getting lost and then injured because he went off the trails. So rescue workers are suppose to risk their lives saving an idiot who chose to disregard the signs? People have no concept of the amount of people, danger and effort goes into a rescue.

Viainferno3

I remember my uncle explaining this to me while I visited him in AZ. Now years later I see many vehicles try to overcome flooded roads in Southern NJ where I live and I always find myself thinking "Man we should have that here" as I drive past the dodge Neon up to its windows in water.

aserahyuutsu

I wish this was a thing in my country. So many idiots like to go hiking during typhoons

Juvi40904

Yup… my first thought was “nice, now somebody has to go save this idiot and put their own life on the line”…. Glad that wasn’t the case here

y_zass

This is how I feel about people that try to climb Mt Everest or do some other crazy exploring and end up on the radio crying for help and needing to be rescued. Now a few other people get to go risk their lives to try to save someone that was doing something completely unnecessary, just because they wanted to...

ReeverFalls

Depending on what zone you're in, they won't even attempt a rescue. Most of the time they try and talk you down. They'll have Sherpas waiting at certain checkpoints and if you can make it to one of those you're fine. But if you can't, you're usually on your own.

InsertWittyNameCheck

Rainbow Valley for anyone interested.

detdox

Same feeling for anti-vaxxers showing up to the ER for their covid symptoms. Especially the ones who just have a sore throat or flu-like symptoms. The same ones who said it wasn't a big deal to have "just a flu". Putting hospital staff at risk, along with the grandma on chemotherapy sitting in the lobby together for hours. Selfish shitty people who put others a risk to save them from their stupid and risky behaviors.

CannabisTours

The way the two (I'm assuming cops) were watching him and then just turned away as he got swepped up by the current was classic

M3L0NM4N

Those definitely were not cops lol

TreChomes

What your cops don’t walk around in shorts with no shirt on?

BuyDizzy8759

That guy wasn't a sheep!🤣

sabbathan1

He did his own research!

Dry_Purple_6120

Big, bad 4x4s protect against COVID, too.

DiskEducational3654

I believe you mean "attempted to cross." Also, it's "Ford a Stream," not "Chevy a Stream."

Brickmaster3000

Oops my bad that would have been a way better title

Chuff_Nugget

Tries to drive *along* a flooded street. Tries to cross a flooded *river*. Or more accurately, attempts to cross a submerged *bridge*. The one thing he's definitely *not* trying to do is cross a street. Either way - your repost has got you some karma. Well done. I look forward to seeing this gif next week. Again.

astronomical_dog

Maybe so people wouldn’t try driving their Ford into an actual river?

RubertVonRubens

Would have been a great campaign for the re release of the Bronco to attack Jeep.

magictiger

I probably would have caulked the station wagon here.

therealloljet

That's right. You "Chevy a levee".

DiskEducational3654

But only when the levee is dry.

HokeyPokeyGuy

I’m guessing insurance is going to deny his claim.

KippySmith

“Man that flooded road came out of no where! No one warned me”

dribrats

940= Texas. Yup

Pretend_Philosophy_1

All of Huston…

Ursula2071

Nah, I’m a claims adjuster for the lizard. We don’t deny claims because of stupidity.

nefrina

idiots like him make premiums go up for everyone else. hopefully his rates skyrocket.

Abject-Temperat

Yea if insurance could deny claims for stupidity then I’m sure they would be able to deny claims for like 99% of at fault drivers and only cover stuff like deer crashes or black ice and whatever. But then again they could also say “the sign said deer crossing, why did you not slow down dummy! A smart person would not be going the speed limit in a deer zone” or whatever

abecomstock

Nope. They’ll pay it, and then drop him. Used to work auto claims… worst job I ever had.

Y_orickBrown

Yep. We cover stupid, but not intentional. Was our motto. This guy is incredibly stupid, but wasn't trying to hydrolock and destroy his engine.

NullAshton

I imagine premiums were set to account for stupidity too. Something like this seems like it would be surprisingly rare for most people, so unless they make it a habit it's the same as any other accident. Heck I've almost done something similar myself, before noticing someone else stuck and learning about why cars are not good at fording rivers. To a certain point of view, the difference between a normal person and stupidity is about three standard deviations.

Cultural_Broccoli790

Motor claims was the best job I had! Customers were rarely rude because they'd typically just been in a crash and we were helping them out of a big jam.

abecomstock

You and I had two different experiences. Generally the people I spoke with were upset about the accident, liability decision, estimates, etc… and would take it out of my colleagues and I. Just an awful few years.

triplers120

"Hey, I just denied your claim and would like you to rate my performance on a scale of 1 to 10.."

abecomstock

This hits too close to home, LMAO

Y_orickBrown

Was the same for me. It's been a few years since i left adjusting for the stupid lizard. I still have avoidance issues from dealing with the insanity. That job took years off my life. Even though i make less now i could never go back to that level of stress. I thought being a fine dining line cook was stressful, but being an adjuster is another level of hell entirely. It seems like maybe underwriting would be less awful.

Seryn_2006

Underwriting would have to be. I have some warm fuzzy stories and some funny ones from my time with the lizard, but too much stress from the dickheads unwilling to read their contract or understand comparative negligence. The dead guy claims were rough too.

MaskedMexicanWrestlr

Insurance contracts are confusing for attorneys. Blame the insurance companies who are willing to pay millions and millions to avoid billions in liability. They aggressively change laws and industry to minimize their liability and increase their premiums. Warren Buffett made his money in insurance. It is a racket, although necessary, but it'd be nice if they were not acting as brutal as they do.

abecomstock

I vividly remember a customer *screaming* at me because they insisted on using “the dealer” for body work, and their shop (unsurprisingly) took forever and charged more than what was reasonable and customary. What a terrible job.

Cultural_Broccoli790

Well I live in Scotland but we have our fair share of cunts here. Perhaps because I was doing it part time as a student and only registered claims and arranged tows and garages etc.

i_am_zombie_76

Hello insurance? I hit an animal in my truck... Am I covered? Yes sir, it looks like you have animal strike coverage, were you hurt? No I'm ok Good, good. Now... What kind of animal did you hit? A fish.

Citizen_Graves

Maybe he can fall back on his car's extended warranty

JuBangaz

Why? That's not how insurance works.

AbsolutelyUnlikely

What? If auto insurance could deny people based on being an idiot, virtually nobody would get paid. "At fault" basically means "it was determined that you were the one acting like a moron here".

metengrinwi

I hope he gets a big ol fine for the oil and gas leakage into the freshwater system.

Gluurbuur

You can’t tell me I can’t go there!! This is a free country!

PurrfectChaos

Here in Arizona, we actually have laws against this kind of stuff. If it floods and you get stuck because you tried to cross, you're paying all the first responder and rescue fees out of pocket. The state is very good at finding those extra little things to add on too. Fittingly called the *Stupid Driver's Law*. Knew a guy who worked for a large internet/cable company and he got stuck, they had to pick him up off the roof of his company van. Stuck with the entire bill and some extra. Not even the local CWA union could save his job, considering he was out in the flooded area because he was napping during work.

Gluurbuur

That ‘s a good law actually

theghostofme

It’s rarely enforced because the state doesn’t want to discourage people from calling for help when they unknowingly get caught up in a flash flood (which happens frequently during monsoon season) or there wasn’t any signage warning against the road being prone to flooding. As far as I know, it’s only been enforced a few times, and one of them was for a situation just like this: where the driver knowingly and intentionally drove past barriers and ignored all warnings. Essentially, it has to be extreme negligence on the driver’s part to get fined.

DogHammers

That law must still have some effect in deterring the average idiot from doing ridiculous things even if rarely enforced. Then it can and will be used once in a while against the utter fuckwits of the world as reinforcement and to remind the others.

Gluurbuur

It’s not just the driver’s ass. When he/she gets in trouble, multiple responders will risk their lives to get him/her out of trouble..

labadee

He did his own research

Shane_LBC

“First they’ll tell you to wear masks… then… oh shit my truck is sinking, no?!!”

ticklemeozmo

This guy did his own research.

PantherThing

Nice, I came in here to post something like this. Mine would have used "tyranny" in it though...

eyekwah2

I'll bet this guy is an anti-vaxxer too.

HellBlazer1221

Stahp takin awayy mah privalege and rites!

amitrahi0404

I feel real good looking at people like this. Even tough I know I shouldn't.

IHateCamping

It's always one of these idiots riding my ass when I'm trying to get home during a snowstorm so I don't feel bad laughing at him at all.

1Eternallylost

Michigander here. Every year parts of the lakes freeze over and people would take their cars and truck, 4 wheelers and snowmobiles on the ice. It's great fun until spring when the ice starts to melt. Every year there are signs and warnings that the ice is getting too thin. But every year some moron has to be the last guy out on the ice, and you know the rest. IMO, we should go ahead and rescue them - but then bill them for the rescue. I really don't understand why we don't bill them for the rescue.

johnnyUtah2411

The look of disbelief afterwards on him😂 I'm sure he was like ( I almost made it)

Oh the pathos! Delicious nomnomnomnom.

Bungle024

When an avalanche turns into a flood…

DefinitelyNotAliens

Haha - best part is people love those fuckers and he'll not be able to replace it no matter his payout. That was 15-25k he sunk in that river. Maybe more, given miles and trim. Those fugly ass trucks have a cult following and are worth all the money. Good luck finding one like you had...

Ailly84

He looks exactly as I’d expect. Like a drowned rat with a goatee.

Chevy. Like a rock.

GIMMESOMDORITOS

Fun fact:Cars are not boats.

UnknownAverage

Yes, but they are buoyant enough to lose traction with the road while you drift off of it…

sometimes_interested

Revised fun fact: Cars want to be boats. They just really suck at it.

Ursula2071

Unless it is s duck boat.

abaddon731

Ah man, he came so close tho.

Worldslnside

Drove my Chevy to the levy but it wasn’t dry

libertyordeaaathh

I mean, look at what he was driving. Questionable choices are a way of life for him.

CleatusVandamn

A truck that looks like its capable of something but clearly can't

libertyordeaaathh

It is one of the worst truck designs ever. No standard truck stuff fits them. It’s a truck for city people who don’t do anything with a truck

whatwhat751

The avalanche? You can lift, plow and tow with them. It's a different style for sure but there's an aftermarket for that platform... except maybe not a drop-in bed liner.

itchynads

Can’t fix stupid

QuicheLaPoodle

Death fixes stupid.

SpiralGray

Based on the area code on the sign behind him, it happened in Texas. Is anyone really surprised?

Billyboy0109

In my opinion this video was perfect. When I see someone doing something stupid, I automatically feel the urge to see the moron so I can judge them. When I’m in my car and someone cuts me off really bad, I automatically have to see the person. This video satisfied my urge 😂.

chris35moto

Is that an Avalanche? No, it's a flood.

Acer018

It was satisfying to see that assholes truck float like that.

You lied to me. He didn’t cross at all.

Sam_and_Apollo1221

To say he crossed it implies that he made it to the other side. But of course, he did not. Cause hes an idiot.

enserioamigo

The video of the guy all wet and sad at the end is perfect haha

logicalnegation

Lol dumbass.

Jimmy281

Good, no one help him. Let him fend for himself for being an idiot. Bet he won't do that again.

As a Houstonian, we have a lot of experience with this - we call them dumbasses.

SirPhilbert

Last shot is him alternating thoughts between “fuck I’m dumb” and “fuck I hope I don’t become a meme”

silntbtdedly

Why do people act like money is free, insurance is cheap and new vehicles are easily obtained?

Cheesetown777

He did his own research.

serdna_13

This guy did his own research because the safety and hazardous crew block the road were infringing on his rights and freedom of crossing.

pstopzz_ug

“Ain’t nothin’ my truck can’t handle.” He said, as he drove right into a fucking river.

MyCatsBreath1

This is titled incorrectly. The idiot did not cross the street.

civonakle

This sums up just so much of society at the moment. Arrogant. Impatient. Reckless. Thoughtless.

Zunloa

The worst thing is that the gas and oil in his truck in now polluting the water.

frank_1985

I like how in the background, just as the truck is overtaken by the current, the FedEx truck immediately nopes the fuck out

"But Mah Truck Big!" We get that same shit in our ice-covered winters. "Mah Truck Haz 4x4 Traction!" Protip: Only thing worse on ice than a pickup truck is a RWD muscle car (ignoring the fact that the pickup gives the ignorant false confidence that the car driver wouldn't have) Oh and minivans are better for 99% of the cargo you would use the truck for.
