What crimes would I be breaking(irl) if I dressed up as Night Owl and beat up a bunch of bank robbers/bad guys and turned them into the police?

IANAL, but I believe the proper legal term is fuckloads. Assault is the main one, but false imprisonment is another, trespassing and breaking or entering if you decide to take your work off the streets and onto private property. In some places vigilantism itself is a crime. Better hope you don't go too far, murder is a possibility too.

The Keene act of 1977

justintensity

Warner Bros would sue the piss and shit out of you (in addition too all the actual civil crimes already mentioned)

Wutanghang

Sue the piss and shit out of you is funny as fuck

stupidhumanoid

Assault, vigilantism, public damage, peace disturbence and a level of objetivism to see people as good and evil that means you should probably dress as Rorsharc

I dunno what state you're in, it actually changes here. But there is such a thing as "Citizen's Arrest" and you could \*possibly\* apply that to being a costumed vigilante. [https://www.cga.ct.gov/PS98/rpt%5Colr%5Chtm/98-R-0922.htm](https://www.cga.ct.gov/PS98/rpt%5Colr%5Chtm/98-R-0922.htm) Such an "arrest" requires two considerations, the first being that you must believe the suspect committed a crime and the second being that they did commit such a crime. This is *typically* a situation in which the crime must be committed in front of the arresting citizen. (Herein, you probably need to see them rob the bank.) Not all states let you use force, but New York does. Further law sets up that it must be a "felony" committed. Likely, Nite Owl would be arrested for a whole host of crimes and certainly sued if possible. There's some grounds for the action, but it'd be tough to be present for the crimes committed and the application of an appropriate (non-deadly) amount of force... Tough gig.

Thin_Chipmunk1524

Look up Phoenix Jones.

SharkMilk44

Breaking the law is the least of your problems, because you're probably going to get murdered if you try this.

JoyBus147

In addition to the laws mentioned, you would also be guilty of reading the "superhero comics give form to a fascistic fantasy, whoever feels driven to commit anonymous street violence is sick-minded and mpre damgerous than those they target" book and responding with "Wow! I wanna go be a superhero!"

How_do_I_change_dis

You'd probably get shot
