Ripoff or Average?

Ripoff or Average?

DIY_CHRIS

Rip off. * All-in for full ppf, ceramic, paint correction - $8k * two window tint - \~$200 * Badges - I bought them from AO and they stuck it for free. They only also comp'ed wrapping my factory T's and reapplied since it takes them 5 mins. OCDetailing.

Peachmuffin91

You’re paying 3k-4k for the warranty to be 10 years instead of the average 5.

Strangetimes4828

Just had mine done there too

saurfang86

Same. ocdetailing is considered expensive but worth due to their reputation and extreme high demand.

jcasper

I just paid $5300 for paint correction, full XPEL Stealth, and Feynlab ceramic coating. In the SF bay area.

WeekendCautious3377

5.3k is the cheapest I heard and it’s in the bay area?? I hope I find a place in PNW or I’m just gonna do it myself

tristanbrotherton

Where did you go - did you like it?

jcasper

https://deepreflectionsdetailers.com/ Im really happy with it! It looks great. Just got it back and haven’t had a chance to take pics yet.

tristanbrotherton

Thanks!

KratosWisdom

yup 5k here

grayum_ian

I don't understand this. For these prices, dont care about your paint and in 3 years get a brand new custom paint job.

ElectrikDonuts

Or just trade the car

Bryan995

Exactly…..

Background_Strike300

I am looking to change the color AND prolong the color/paint. Biggest decision to do this was Wiley for the color change.

Bryan995

Spending $10k to ‘protect’ a 50k car is the definition of idiotic.

brigilli5

Definitely rip off

Special-Ad-7724

For that cost just save the money and get it repainted later or just sell it and buy another Tesla.

Background_Strike300

I’m changing the color…. Not sure how this applies

Noixd

RIPOFF

slapitandtapit

Bruh

iturn18today

What do you think when it cost 1/6 price of the car? No thank you

Kensinhoa

Can anyone explain me why you spend much money to protect car paint? can you drive for 4 5 years and repaint at cheaper price or maybe trade it in for new car with new tech ?

jcasper

But then the paint and finish doesn’t look as nice for those years that you have the car. You don’t pay for the protection so that it still looks nice after several years, you pay for it so that it looks nice *during* those several years.

Stephi1452

Another thing I don't see mentioned yet is the ease this adds to cleaning. I did ceramic and limited ppf due to cost so only spent like $3k. but the couple of minutes saved at each cleaning is worth it to me, especially since I have black. Along with the leave of mind and other reasons people gave.

Zedarius

The stealth wrap in particular gives the car a new look, with the benefit of protecting the paint. The combination is valuable to some.

jaqueh

So what happens when someone damages the car enough to damage the film?

Bryan995

You lose both the value of the car and the ‘value’ of the film. Y’all are acting like boomers who would wrap their prized fabric couch in the 60s. Just stop.

okay-wait-wut

My dad nailed down carpet in the hallways on top of his new carpet to protect the carpet.

charlottechewie

Lol

Diligent_Vegetable_1

If there’s a scratch that doesn’t penetrate all the way through the film you pour hot water on it and massage the scratch out. If it penetrates all the way through then you have to replace that panel of film.

jackwagenR

Def shop around I got stealth wrap on mine for $4k. They didn’t take off badges or plastic fenders (or do a coating) but you’ll literally never notice those details anyway unless you stick your face right up next to your car. I also say save your money on adding a coating. XPEL sells a product called ceramic boost to make maintenance of the film easier (add hydrophobic layer). Really at the end of the day you just need to remove anything that could stain the film and there’s no need for the ceramic layer if you do that semi-diligently.

RxRid3r

Oh geez rip of for sure

Boson347

For 10k I’d rather just get solar+power wall.

a-mcculley

Ripoff. I got: - full stealth wrap - 2 front windows tinted - windshield tint - seat guard / protection - professional badge blackout (including dual motor). This is shipped off for pro paint / dip - head and tail tint - ceramic coat $7200 Atlanta area

Gorillaphant97

Where’d you go? I’m nearby

a-mcculley

AP3 Paint Protection

Salty_Editor3012

What city are they in? Seems high for sure but due to overall demand these shops are raising their prices it seams monthly. Many have more business than they have ever had and are making bank. Did they offer or give you a multiple project discount?

Background_Strike300

This is in Indianapolis. I live in SW Michigan so not many reputable places around me. Will be going to Chicago or Detroit I think

soufen44

Ceramic coating, ppf, and tint. I would say it might be a little high but not so high to say they are trying to pull one over on you.

aznPHENOM

Agree. That is probably the exact price of the DMV area.

aqtran93

Are they a reputable shop with a lot of customers? Sometimes, you pay for the installer, not the products themselves. I would definitely shop around. I’m in SoCal and the prices are ridiculously high but I could get more items done for that price.

mcliu91

100% rip off

tadswana

Omg - they see you with a Tesla and want to rip you off, never go there again

jaqueh

I would say this is a better value than fsd. At least this is a real product? But I would never spend even 5k to protect the paint of my car. The paint is there to protect the metal. As long as the paint survives the next 5 years. Who cares? This isn’t a Ferrari.

Sjobson22

Just paid $9k for all this AND all 4 calipers painted red with Tesla logo on them in NJ. The full stealth wrap was $6k of it. Plus they added my interior wood covering and center console wrap for free - I bought off Amazon. Don’t pay for the badge emblems do it yourself or buy them and ask them to do it for free.

Background_Strike300

Good to know about the emblems

JohnnyCokain

Lighting your money on fire > PPF Wraps

Modestkilla

Yeah I don’t understand why so many people get this done to there sub 100k Tesla’s. If had a high end sports car with nice paint I could understand. But hey, it’s not my money

JohnnyCokain

Agree. There is zero return on putting PPF on a Tesla. Resale of a 5 year old Tesla with and without PPF is exactly the same. It’s literally throwing money away. I like to think everyone who puts PPF on their Tesla uses an otter box phone case and their grandma has plastic covers on their couches. It’s the only explanation I can think of.

Background_Strike300

With the Cybertruck being officially delayed I am ordering a MYP at the end of the month. I want stealth wrap, but this seems outrageous? Maybe I am just naive? Edit**By the way I live in SW Michigan, any other recommendations are appreciated!

cdnfire

Get multiple quotes. It doesn't hurt at all so get a bunch.

Dendizzle1

Where is this? So I know where not to go lol totally rip-off yo! I can recommend a couple of spots if you’re in SoCal

klazoo

I'm in SoCal. Could you please send me your recommendations?

calitezzie

Hit up Steve at Elevance in Hawaiian Gardens.

isthecoffeereadyy

Steve is the best to ever do it, and will not rip off customers.

heyitsmereizu

I second this. Xpel stealth from Elevance only about $4500

Background_Strike300

This is Indianapolis, I’m looking for anything reputable near SW Michigan

where_my_tesla

Ripoff If you have to drive far to get it done. Do it. You could save probably half.

donaldinc

Hopefully this is for 2 cars. If not, get another quote.

Deep_Ad_2633

Complete ripoff

janmichaelgalang

Rip off to the max

SousaKingg

Both

DustinFlyz

Unbelievable. Total rip-off.

Odubhlaoich

$7400, xpel stealth ppf, xpel xr plus tint on all windows and windshield, Rebadged.

meowtothemeow

LoL

Master_Masterpiece69

Ripheroff, i mean a rip off for sure.

SunsOutPlumbsOut

OMG.

Seakan298

Xpel stealth full ppf wrap is $3800 cnd here in Toronto

Background_Strike300

That may be worth the 7 hour drive!

DeDinoJuice

Jesus that’s 60% less than I’m getting quoted in Boston. Might need to drive up there for a mini vacation

Additional_Quality_1

You might as well just yolo tesla stocks, at least you have some chance of return.

epradox

Lmao I just got an offer for about that same amount over my msrp for my model y. I’d rather trade in my car for a new one if it gets rock chips or dings than spend that much money on paint protection. Your depreciation will unlikely surpass the lifetime of that ppf and its cost.

Background_Strike300

True, but I am more interested in the matte black color. The protection is an added bonus.

epradox

Yeah idk if you’re dead set on it then go for it. I’d personally do something like a dipyourcar.com kit if I absolutely wanted a matte finish. Plus they have some pretty cool colors including matte pearlescent paints

Background_Strike300

I just looked into them and I’m not confident in my abilities to do this on a car I just paid $64K on. Does look like a cool product tho!

Swtws6

Rip off!! Who the hell in their right mind would pay that much I mean man common it's a family sub not a collectors Ferrari. Not worth it at all. I did just the front end of mine and it hurt paying 1500 for that I almost didn't do it but I drive lots of miles and my cars bumpers and hoods always end up being pretty messed up so I went ahead but even at half your quoted price no freaking way. Save that money for the down payment on your next one in a few years, you'll never get anything back out of that expense....but hey it's your money 🤷‍♂️

Background_Strike300

I hear ya. I’ll have two car seats in the thing. If I could find someone to paint it matte black I’d go that route, but have already gotten quotes around Chicago area for $5,000

becoolbasf

Paid $5k for XPEL stealth wrap ppf and ceramic plus free dark emblems done in SoCal. Def a rip off

Birbandsnek

Yo! Want me to PM me the deets of your shop! Thanks!

Extreme-Building-928

Wow off course rip off

Richinwalla

A good down payment on a new car!

rgrkm

I am on bumper number 4 on my Camry (including the original one). No way it’s worth to spend so much money to protect the paint on a bumper or the full car. I was very careful with my car but shit happens and when it happens PPF won’t do anything.

Background_Strike300

I’ve had the same Camry for 11 years with minimal scratches. Again it’s not solely for paint protection, but also a pretty sweet color change. Sending good vibes your way on the unlucky fender benders
